Mike Cugno of CBS4 joins the show to react to the Dolphins decision to move on from General Manager Chris Grier.

00:04You saw him on CBS four last night.

00:06I mean, you see him on CBS four almost every night and he hosts dolphins

00:09weekly live and you see him nationally on CBS sports HQ.

00:13I watched the entire post game show last night with Cugno and John can

00:19Jemmy and a sad Kimbo camper in the bowels of the stadium.

00:25So Cugno,

00:26we learned today that Chris Greer has been relieved of his duty.

00:30I'm sorry.

00:31Chris Greer mutually agreed to be relieved of his duties,

00:34whatever that means.

00:35What do you,

00:36what do you make of what transpired from last night to today when we heard the

00:40news?

00:41Well, let me just say this.

00:42It feels like every single week,

00:44at least the weeks that came with a loss,

00:47it felt like everyone was kind of on standby.

00:49Like what's going to happen.

00:50Who's going to get fired.

00:51Is someone going to get fired?

00:53And it finally happened tonight.

00:55Right.

00:55And,

00:55and last night I think was one of those nights where you're just like,

01:01it didn't even,

01:02it wasn't even like when the second half happened and the Ravens ate up most of

01:07the third quarter on that first drive and really just kind of put the game

01:10out of,

01:10out of reach there,

01:11not only by the points,

01:12but just now the clock was working against the dolphins.

01:14Everything was snowballing.

01:16The,

01:17the Taj Washington fumble,

01:18the penalty,

01:19then the miss kicked,

01:20you know,

01:21like it all started to snowball and you could feel it in the stadium.

01:25That when one mistake happened,

01:27it started to compound.

01:29And I think this was just kind of coming.

01:33It was just at what point was it coming and who,

01:36who the,

01:37I don't want to say fall guy,

01:38but who was going to be,

01:38I guess with the first domino to fall.

01:41And now we have Chris career out and,

01:44and you know what?

01:46Owner Steven Ross said it last year,

01:48the status quo couldn't stay the same.

01:50And here we are,

01:50the status quo was the same.

01:52They were literally two and six a year ago.

01:53They made a little bit of a run,

01:55but to,

01:55to be two and six again,

01:5712 months later,

01:58that's where the change came.

02:05when anything went wrong,

02:06because not scoring in the second half embarrassing,

02:10having to call two timeouts when you're down in the third quarter.

03:12cause there was a year he went for it and he really went for it.

03:17Tyree kill,

03:18you kind of put all your eggs in the basket.

03:20They went for it.

03:21Some of these contracts didn't end up working out.

03:23And now you're kind of saddled with them.

03:24I think in the domino to me is looking at,

03:29where are we as a team?

03:30Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

03:31Is this just growing pains?

03:34because some of these contracts are going to be prohibitive going forward.

03:38And now you're going to have to work around it.

03:40Whoever the next guy is in terms of the general manager is going to have his hands full in terms of doing some sort of salary cap gymnastics,

03:49or you better be like the best scout ever and find guys like,

03:53who can play like at a pretty decent pay rate.

03:57this is going to be a tough,

03:58like if,

03:59if I'm out there,

04:00let's say there is a change at coaching and I don't know if there will be,

04:03but if there is one,

04:04I look at that and I go,

04:05I'd want to be a coach down in Miami because I could attract free agents down to South Florida and all that stuff.

04:10If you're a GM,

04:12how attractive does this job become because of where they are with some of these big contracts and what they're going to have to do?

04:18This is going to be a tough job.

04:19It's going to be a big test for whoever the next guy is.

04:21What do you think was,

04:22or had the most important impact on Ross finally pulling the trigger on the move?

04:36the roster was just so clearly,

04:48You had people wearing brown paper bags on them again yesterday.

04:54a lot of fans claiming that they're canceling their season tickets,

04:59with screenshots of the cancellation,

05:01you've had the banners.

05:07they don't score a touchdown and he sees more Ravens fans than dolphins fans.

08:32the dolphins clearly outplayed the Baltimore Ravens that like aside from the

08:41Obviously you can't theoretically beat someone like Mike McDaniel said,

08:46they outgained them by more than a hundred yards.

08:48They were in the inside of the 35,

08:50Like had they been able to execute?

08:54that game could look a little different,

08:59which was the dolphins outplayed them,

09:01had a hundred more yards and we're still down 14 to six,

09:04despite the Ravens being more talented,

09:07not playing their best brand of football.

09:09They still had to lead,

09:12to me,

09:13the defense,

09:14the defense nearly got that stop at the goal line.

09:17They took them to a fourth down.

09:21I think little pockets of positivity.

09:23It wasn't like,

09:24and that first half wasn't there's good players on the dolphins,

09:27but the team top to bottom is super top heavy.

09:31We've talked about this a million times.

09:34It just doesn't work for whatever reason.

09:36It just whatever reason it's not working.

09:38And I don't know.
