00:00My first impression of you was that you were really funny because we met when we were shooting
00:05a sketch for a friend and I remember your character was like shy and you were like
00:12turning, do you remember what I'm talking about, into the wall and it was so funny and
00:16I kept laughing.
00:18So the magic of this memory for me is that I was really depressed about college and
00:23don't remember a lot of things that happened so I have almost no recollection of shooting
00:28this sketch. Also, do not totally remember meeting you.
00:34Are you serious?
00:46How did you feel last night?
00:47I don't know. I feel weird talking about it because also like sometimes you feel good about
00:52it and people don't like it.
00:55I'm very, very anxious by nature. I'm a very anxious person. I am trying to fix that.
01:02I'm trying to alleviate that. I started smoking weed recently. Any weed heads in the house?
01:09It was a bit of a doomed excursion since I thought cool people who smoked weed called themselves
01:15weed heads. So you were great.
01:17Well you were the reason that like I started doing stand-up.
01:20So I've never had a boyfriend but I have a hundred exes.
01:25The way that that works is you know like the first two weeks when you're seeing a guy and
01:30it's kind of exciting because you're like, does he know my last name? Will we ever see
01:33each other again?
01:37I will be in that stage for eight months.
01:40I got you something.
01:42I also got you something.
01:43Here you go.
01:44Just before you, sorry, eager hands. This is heavy and there's something very fragile inside.
01:51This is light, but it's still important. So should I open it?
01:56Yeah. Boxes. Yep. It's a little tricky.
01:58This is a tricky box. Yes? So...
02:04Rachel got me poppers.
02:05I did. I was thinking back to our conversation where we were like, 24 is a good age to be
02:12kind of toxic. And then you were like, I only feel like I do like one bad thing a year.
02:18And I was like, I think I kind of do more than that. And so I was like,
02:25this kind of can help you expand that part of your life. Like that kind of a thing.
02:30To all the kids watching this at home with your families, this episode features an inhalant,
02:37colloquially known as poppers. Though this is a fun, you know, gif and a gag for a comedy piece,
02:48is a serious stuff. Okay? If you have any kids watching, just don't do them yet.
03:00Oh my God. Wait, I love this time. So you can't keep these. They're Julie,
03:05the director's glasses and they're from her grandmother and their family heirloom.
03:09Um, that's what I got you. A big bottle of seltzer. Thank you. Should we crack it open?
03:14I think that, yes. Cheers it. I love seltzer.
03:19I told you my dad said he loved your seltzer. That's all I need. All I'm looking for is
03:23fatherly approval. He was like, I and you were great. I was like,
03:26might I say my name first? I'm your daughter. No, no, you're not. He's my father. Okay.
03:31I think I'm constantly searching for fathers. We don't have to get into that.
03:35Yeah. I like my dad also. No, no, no. But here's the thing, one dad, not enough.
03:42I got my period for the first time when I was jogging with my dad. We were like jogging together
03:48and I was like, I don't feel good. And he was like, you're annoying me. And I was like, I
03:51just feel,
03:51can I just go to the bathroom? And I was like in the bathroom, like crying, like into a pad.
03:57And he like knocked on the door and I opened the door and he was like, I'm sorry, but it's
04:03just life.
04:04Oh my God. And honestly, he's right. It's true. It is. It literally is just life. Were you funny growing
04:10up? I definitely feel like I was creative and loud or whatever. Like I would make my siblings do
04:16Christmas plays with me and I would like write them and make everybody sign contracts. And then after I
04:20would add stuff like everyone has to give the director like a back massage or whatever.
04:26What? What about you?
04:30Um, I was not funny growing up and I was like very anxious and very shy. And I just liked
04:34reading a
04:34lot. And then when I was in eighth grade, I had a drama teacher who was like, you would be
04:38good at
04:39improv. And I was like, please mind your business. I'm only here because this is mandatory. And she was
04:43like, it's not just the loud people who are good at stuff. Like it's also the quiet people and the
04:48people who listen. But even now, I'm like still a very anxious, anxious person. Oh, me too. For sure.
04:53I cried after the show last night, but I don't know why. I know. I knew you were crying. That's
04:58why I kept telling you good job. But I didn't, I didn't think that I, I thought I did a
05:01good job.
05:02I know you didn't think you did a bad job, but I just was like, I thought maybe that was.
05:05I think I just, anything with like a lot of emotions, especially when there's like other
05:10people and everyone feels different emotions. It's like, I, I can't process them after.
05:14I feel like when people aren't anxious, I'm like, what's wrong with you? It's like,
05:19everything could go wrong. Like, yeah, it's kind of
05:23Okay, so do you know how the Instagram like filters? Did you do the what A24 movie are you?
05:28Yes. What A24 movie do you think you are? I think I'm the last black man in San Francisco.
05:33Good movie, beautifully shot, great substance, ultimately flawed execution,
05:39and you know, poorly timed release. I would say for me, Bling Ring or
05:45Spring Breakers, but the character who cries and goes home. Yeah, I think that's true for you.
05:49Those work for me. Yeah. Here's a good one. Timothee Chalamet, Armie Hammer.
05:54I guess I have to be Timothy. I actually think I'm the Timothy.
06:00Why? We walked past him once, remember? Yes. And he didn't want to talk to anybody.
06:05Yeah. And Armie Hammer wants people to talk to him. He's always tweeting stuff. Oh, you're right.
06:11You're so right. I know. I remember that time. Small head.
06:18He's never going to watch this. You're right. And if he does, I don't think it's a thing he's
06:22self-conscious about. No, no, no. I think he likes that. You're right.
06:24Because it makes him look taller. Small head, taller, yeah.
06:30I like to be as dry as possible. I will take sort of a blow dryer and sort of just
06:36like down my throat
06:37in order to just make sure I'm as hoarse and uncomfortable as possible before I go on stage.
06:45That's good. I learned that in school. Stand-up school? Yeah.
06:50ganze in-up school?
