00:00I am curious what you think about Makai Lemon,
00:03but I don't want to start with Lemon either.
00:06Eli Stowers feels like one of your guys
00:09because Eli Stowers was a real gamer at Vanderbilt.
00:14He won the Mackey Award.
00:16Now, he did not have gaudy numbers,
00:19but some of that is how Vanderbilt operated as an offense.
00:24Stowers certainly had some big games,
00:26and I think he flashed just immense talent.
00:28The 7-for-146-2 against Texas is probably the crown jewel
00:36that he offered up this past season.
00:39How do you feel not just, Joe, about Eli Stowers
00:42as a Dallas Goddard replacement,
00:44but as a potential year-one contributor in Philadelphia?
00:47I think he's going to hit the ground running.
00:49Immediate dividends, I think, in the offense with Jalen Hurts.
00:53I think he's a big body.
00:55He's got great hands.
00:57He stepped up, and he was a security blanket for Diego Pavia
01:01much of the regular season, especially on third downs.
01:04Go to the LSU game.
01:06He scores a touchdown.
01:07He was always there when Vanderbilt needed a big play.
01:12And you go to the Texas game.
01:13Yes, statistically, that was a huge game,
01:16but they trailed much of the fourth quarter.
01:18He caught a touchdown late to put them in a position
01:21to potentially win that game or tie it and send it into overtime.
01:25He is just, to me, a gamer.
01:29Are we going to compare him, though, to Brock Bowers,
01:35other tight ends that have stepped up and have been just Trey McBride for the NFL?
01:42I don't know year one, but I think he could definitely transition into that
01:48two or three years down the road and be that go-to type of tight end.
01:53Body type, I think he could add 10 to 15 pounds of muscle.
01:57Is he as good, potentially, in the run game, blocking-wise,
02:01as maybe Goddard and some of the other tight ends?
02:04No, but that could be taught.
02:06That could be taught, Kevin.
02:08I think from the passing aspect, Stowers provides Philadelphia another big body,
02:15and now if you have Makai Lemon and Devontae Smith
02:19that will just take A.J. Brown out of that,
02:21he could be that red zone option where he just blows through his numbers in 2020.
02:29So, I am very curious how they are going to deploy Stowers, Joe,
02:34because one of the big conversations around Eli coming out of Vanderbilt
02:38was just he didn't really block much at Vandy,
02:42whether they didn't trust him, whether they couldn't,
02:44but he seems well aware that that's something he has to correct,
02:50and I'm unclear what the playing time for Stowers will be,
02:57but I think they would love for him to come on strong
03:01because I think we know, I mean, listen,
03:04if Sean Mannion has a good year in Philadelphia,
03:06he's going to become a head coach somewhere.
03:08That's what happens.
03:09But if Mannion can stick around in Philly, Joe,
03:13then I'm sure he sees Stowers as the long-term Goddard replacement
03:18and a potential real, real threat.
03:21Here's my question to you on Makai Lemon.
03:24A.J. Brown's gone, we're assuming.
03:26Devontae Smith is wide receiver one.
03:28I think that plays, okay?
03:31Do you think Makai Lemon will be second on this team in targets,
03:37or do you think a Dontavian Wicks or a Hollywood Brown
03:43could kind of edge him out a little bit?
03:46I think Lemon could be a huge target for Jalen Hurts,
03:52especially if Hurts trusts him in the offseason,
03:55like in the OTAs and obviously camp in late June, early July.
04:00If Jalen Hurts sees that Makai Lemon catches everything around him
04:05like he did at USC, he could be like that St. Brown type of player.
04:09And let's not forget St. Brown ran a 4-5-40 coming out of USC as well.
04:14And what does he do?
04:16He just catches every pass from Jared Goff that's thrown.
04:19He's the potential guy that could catch 10 or 11 passes for a buck 20, right?
04:24Is he going to rip off maybe the 80-yarder each and every drive?
04:28No, but he could be that guy on third down outside of Devontae Smith that's there.
04:34I think Makai Lemon could potentially catch maybe anywhere from 80 to 90 passes
04:40this year in the Philly offense.
04:42I think, see, and I agree with you.
04:45I mean, yes, I understand that that might sound like a high outcome.
04:49It's no disrespect to Tate or Tyson.
04:52I believe that those three wide receivers, Tate, Tyson, and Lemon,
04:58were in the same tier.
04:59It's possible Philly got the best receiver in this class.
