00:02Jesus knows what it's like to be tired before the day is over.
00:08You know, there is a kind of work stress that does not leave when the shift ends.
00:14You clock out, shut the laptop down, hang up the phone, leave the building,
00:21and somehow the job still comes home with you.
00:25It sits in your chest.
00:28It rides in the passenger seat.
00:31It follows you into the kitchen while you're still trying to be kind to your family.
00:37You are wanting to be present, but part of you is still answering invisible emails in your head.
00:45That is where a lot of people are living right now.
00:49They're not lazy. They're not weak.
00:52They are tired in a way that they do not know how to explain.
00:59They have pressure at work, bills at home, people depending on them, prayers that still feel unanswered,
01:06and a quiet fear that maybe, just maybe, they are one bad week away from falling apart.
01:16Sometimes people are just hanging on by a string.
01:20You never know when you're that string.
01:23And somewhere in the middle of all of this, the question comes up.
01:29Is Jesus really enough for this?
01:33Not in a church answer way or in a bumper sticker way.
01:37I mean when your boss is unreasonable, the money is tight, your patience is thin,
01:44and your soul, well, it feels like it's running on fumes.
01:49Is Jesus enough there?
01:52Well, I believe he is.
01:54But not because he floats above real life and never gets tired.
02:00Sometimes we walk and talk about Jesus like he never had dust on his feet.
02:08He never had people pulling on him.
02:10Never had a day when everybody needed something.
02:16But Jesus lived inside real pressure, I can assure you.
02:20He knew what it was like to be surrounded by people who wanted his help but did not always want
02:27his heart.
02:29That is a workplace situation right there, let me tell you.
02:33Think about it.
02:34Jesus had 12 close followers and they were not exactly low maintenance.
02:40Peter talked and acted before thinking.
02:44Thomas needed proof.
02:46James and John wanted top seats.
02:49Judas was stealing from the money bag.
02:52I mean, if you ever had one difficult co-worker,
02:56Jesus had a whole group chat full of them.
02:59And yet, he did not become bitter.
03:03He did not let their confusion turn him hard.
03:06He kept loving.
03:08He kept correcting.
03:10And he kept walking.
03:12And that matters because some of your stress is not just about tasks.
03:18It's about people.
03:20It's about being around moods, demands, egos, politics, blame, silence, and disappointment.
03:32Trust me, Jesus understands that kind of tired.
03:37He also knew how to walk away.
03:39You see, people do not think about that enough.
03:43Jesus healed people.
03:45He taught people, loved people, and still, he withdrew to pray.
03:51He did not heal every person in every town in one afternoon just to prove he cared.
03:58He did not let every urgent voice become his master.
04:02And that is not cold.
04:04That is wisdom.
04:06And some of us need to hear that.
04:09You know, you can care deeply and still have limits.
04:13You can be faithful and still need rest.
04:17You can love people and still not answer every demand the second it lands in your lap.
04:24You see, something I learned a long time ago is,
04:27just because it's your priority doesn't necessarily mean it has to be mine.
04:33And Jesus did not confuse constant availability with obedience to God.
04:40That one truth could save your mind.
04:45Because there's also something that's almost funny about the fact that Jesus slept in a storm.
04:52Think about that.
04:53The boat was rocking.
04:54The disciples were panicking.
04:57Everybody thought they were about to die.
04:59And Jesus, well, he was asleep.
05:03And that's not because he did not care.
05:06It's because fear was not running his body.
05:10The storm was loud, but it did not own him.
05:14You see, work stress can feel like that storm.
05:18Everything shakes.
05:20People panic.
05:21Problems arise.
05:22Your mind starts yelling,
05:23We're not going to make it.
05:25But Jesus does not always remove the storm the moment you want him to.
05:31He does bring a presence into the storm that is stronger than panic.
05:37Sometimes, the miracle is not that the wind stops right away.
05:42Sometimes, the miracle is that you stop letting fear be the loudest voice in the boat.
05:50Another thing people do not think about is that Jesus asked a lot of questions.
05:56In fact, he asked more questions than he preached.
06:00He already knew what was in people.
06:03Yet, he still asked anyway.
06:06What do you want me to do for you?
06:10Why are you afraid?
06:12Do you want to be made well?
06:15And this is not because he needed information.
06:19It's because he wanted people to face what was really happening inside of them.
06:24So, maybe the question for you is not only,
06:28Lord, will you fix my job?
06:31Maybe it is also,
06:33Lord, what is this pressure doing to me?
06:37Is it making you angry all the time?
06:40Is it making you numb?
06:42Is it teaching you to measure your worth based on a performance level?
06:48Is it stealing your softness?
06:51Is it making you forget that your soul is not a machine?
06:57Jesus cares about the paycheck.
07:00Yes.
07:01He cares about your bills.
07:03He cares about your responsibilities.
07:07But he also cares about what this pressure is doing to your heart.
07:13He did not come only to help you survive the weak.
07:17He came to keep your spirit from being swallowed by the weak.
07:22Think about that.
07:24And let's be honest.
07:26Some of you have prayed and still walked into the same hard place.
07:31You ask God to open a door,
07:33and the door still looks shut.
07:36You ask for peace, and your chest still feels tight.
07:41You ask for relief in the workload.
07:43Well, that somehow got worse.
07:46And I'm not going to insult you with the cheap answer,
07:49because those disappointments do hurt.
07:53But pain does not mean that Jesus has left.
07:59Silence, well, that does not mean he is absent.
08:03Delay does not mean that he is done with you.
08:06And sometimes, he is working in ways that you just can't see it.
08:11Sometimes he's strengthening something in you that the pressure has not been able to destroy.
08:16And sometimes, he's teaching you to stand without pretending you are not tired.
08:24And Jesus is not small compared to your stress.
08:30He's not confused by your exhaustion, and he is not shocked that you feel worn out.
08:35He is the Savior who noticed hungry crowds, grieving sisters, sick bodies, lonely outcasts, embarrassed hosts, and tired fishermen.
08:48And one widow putting in two small coins.
08:53You see, that was important.
08:56And Jesus notices what others miss.
09:00You know what that means?
09:02That means he notices you, too.
09:05He sees you sitting in your car before work.
09:09He sees you trying not to cry after a hard conversation.
09:13He sees you doing math in your head with money you do not yet have.
09:18He sees you choosing patience when your nerves are shot.
09:23And he sees the part of you that keeps showing up while quietly wondering who is going to show up
09:30for you.
09:32So, bring him the real version of it.
09:35Not the polished prayer.
09:37Not the cleaned up sentence.
09:40Tell him,
09:42Jesus, I am tired.
09:45And I am scared.
09:47I do not know how long I can keep carrying things like this.
09:53Tell him that.
09:54Because that is not your weakness.
09:58That's your honesty.
10:00And Jesus, well, he meets honest people.
10:05Then take the next step with him.
10:08Not the next ten years and not your whole future all at once.
10:13Just the next faithful step.
10:16Breathe before you respond.
10:20Pray before you panic.
10:23Rest without guilt.
10:25Ask for help without shame.
10:29And look for wisdom without fear.
10:32Refuse to let a hard season tell you your whole life is hopeless.
10:39Your work may be heavy, but it is not your Lord.
10:45Your stress may be loud, but it's not God either.
10:50Your fear may feel close.
10:53But believe me, Jesus is closer.
10:58He is enough for the burden.
11:01Not because the burden is fake.
11:04Because he is real inside of it.
11:09So do not give your soul completely to a season that is trying to drain you.
11:14Give your soul back to Jesus.
11:18Let him hold what you cannot fix today.
11:22Let him steady what work has shaken.
11:25Tomorrow may still have pressure.
11:29But tomorrow does not get to have you alone.
11:33Jesus knows tired people.
11:36Jesus loves tired people.
11:40And when your spirit feels crushed, he's not standing far away waiting for you to impress him.
11:47He is near enough to carry what you were never meant to carry by yourself.
11:56That's truth.
11:58My name is Douglas Vandergraaf, and I believe in Jesus Christ.
12:04God bless every single one of you.
12:09Every single one.
12:12Bye-bye.
