00:01Today, I want to discuss, I want to talk about, do you ever wonder if Jesus is enough?
00:13You know, life gets heavy, things get difficult.
00:16Do you ever wonder if Jesus is still enough in this modern age?
00:22Because I think that there are moments when life does not feel inspiring at all.
00:28It feels heavy. You know, it feels loud in your mind and empty in your chest at the same time.
00:35You wake up tired before the day even starts.
00:39You carry things that you don't talk about, things like bills, pressure, regrets, fears, family problems.
00:49The one heartbreak that still has a grip on you, or that prayer you prayed a hundred times and still
00:58do not have an answer for.
01:00And somewhere in the middle of all that, you hear people say, Jesus is enough.
01:06But, if you're being honest, part of you may wonder, enough for what?
01:13Enough for a church service on Sunday?
01:16Enough for a quote?
01:18Or, enough for this actual life I'm dragging around right now?
01:24And you know what? That's a real question.
01:27That's honesty.
01:30Not the polished version or a spiritual version people throw out when they want to sound deep.
01:36It's a real question.
01:39And is Jesus enough when your mind will not slow down?
01:43Is Jesus enough when the money is tight and the stress is real?
01:47Is Jesus enough when people let you down and life does not look anything like what you hoped it would
01:56look like by now?
01:58Is Jesus enough when you're trying to stay strong on the outside, but inside you feel worn thin?
02:08And I think a lot of people have asked that question quietly.
02:13Some out loud, and sometimes with tears, sometimes with anger, and sometimes with almost no strength left.
02:23And I think one of the hardest parts is that many of us have already prayed.
02:30We already believed.
02:32We already tried to trust God, yet we still hurt.
02:39We still carry disappointments.
02:41We still have days where we feel alone in the middle of our own life.
02:47So when somebody says, Jesus is enough, it can almost feel too simple, too neat, and way too easy.
03:00You know, maybe the problem is not that Jesus is too small.
03:05Maybe the problem is that we have heard that sentence so many times in shallow ways that we forget what
03:12it really means.
03:14Now, it does not mean that your pain is fake.
03:17It does not mean your loss does not matter.
03:20It does not mean if you trust Jesus, you will skip grief, pressure, heartbreak, confusion, and float through life untouched.
03:32That is not real life.
03:35And deep down, you know it.
03:37I know it.
03:39What it means is that there is someone stronger than the thing crushing you.
03:44What it means is that the weight of your life is not bigger than the one holding your life.
03:51What it means is that Jesus does not look at your fear and back away from it.
03:57He does not look at your exhaustion and say, come back when you're more put together.
04:03He steps right into the middle of the mess, the shame, the confusion, the weakness, the weariness, and he is
04:13not intimidated by any of that.
04:16And you know what?
04:17That matters.
04:19Because some people think they need a stronger version of themselves.
04:23They think the answer is to get more disciplined, more focused, more motivated, more emotionally steady, or more spiritually impressive.
04:34Then, and maybe then, they'll be okay.
04:39Then, maybe they will actually feel peace.
04:43But most of us have already tried being our own answer.
04:48And I want to ask you a question.
04:50How's that working for you?
04:52You know, you can work harder and still feel empty.
04:56You can stay busy and still feel lonely.
04:59You can act fine and still be falling apart inside.
05:03You can even believe in God and still feel deeply tired.
05:08That is why this matters so much.
05:12If the answer is just more effort from you, then you're in trouble.
05:17Because there are seasons where you do not have enough left.
05:22That is where Jesus becomes more than an idea.
05:27He becomes the one who stays when everything else feels shaky.
05:32He becomes the one who does not change with your mood, your bank account, your health, your heartbreak, your unanswered
05:42questions, or your worst week.
05:45He becomes the one who can hold you together when you do not feel strong enough to hold yourself together.
05:52And no, that does not always happen in a dramatic moment.
05:58Sometimes it does.
05:59But sometimes God breaks through in a way that leaves no doubt.
06:04But a lot of time, it's quieter than that.
06:08And it's waking up and realizing you're still here.
06:13And it's having just enough strength for one more day.
06:17Or it's not losing your mind in the middle of something that should have taken you under.
06:23It is finding a strange steadiness that should not be there.
06:29But somehow, it is.
06:34And that's not nothing.
06:36You know what?
06:36That's Jesus being enough in a way real life can understand.
06:44Enough does not always mean he removes the burden overnight.
06:49Sometimes enough means he gives you what you need to keep walking while you carry it.
06:56Sometimes enough means he meets you in the dark instead of snapping his fingers and turning it into noon.
07:02Sometimes enough means you are still wounded, but not abandoned.
07:09Still tired, but not alone.
07:12Still in the fight, but not empty-handed.
07:16And I know that's hard for some people to hear because they want the pain gone by now.
07:22Maybe that's you.
07:24And maybe you've done the praying.
07:28You've done the believing.
07:30You've done the waiting.
07:32And now, you're tired of pretty words.
07:35And I totally understand that.
07:38I've been there many times myself.
07:41But this is not a pretty word today.
07:44This is survival.
07:47This is truth for the person who cannot carry their own life much longer.
07:53Jesus is enough.
07:56Not because your life is easy or because he is still who he is when life is hard.
08:03He is still near you when you feel forgotten.
08:09He is still faithful when you feel disappointed.
08:13He is still strong when you feel weak.
08:17He is still kind when life feels cruel.
08:21And he is still present when everything in you says,
08:26You are alone.
08:28And that's what makes him enough.
08:31Not the absence of pain.
08:33His presence in it.
08:35And maybe that's the shift that somebody needs today.
08:40Maybe you keep measuring whether Jesus is enough by asking if everything changed.
08:47But maybe the better question is this.
08:50Has he left me?
08:52Has he failed me?
08:54Has he stopped being Christ because I am in pain?
08:59And the answer clearly is no.
09:02He has not left you.
09:04No.
09:04He has not been shaken by what shook you.
09:08He's not become smaller because your problems feel bigger.
09:12He's not late just because you are hurting.
09:16And no, your exhaustion is not proof that he is absent.
09:22Sometimes the strongest faith is not loud.
09:26It's not polished and it's not smiling through everything.
09:31Sometimes the strongest faith is a tired person whispering,
09:36Jesus, I do not have much left.
09:39But I am still here.
09:42And I still need you.
09:44And that kind of honesty,
09:47oh, it goes a long way in heaven.
09:50It matters.
09:52You do not have to pretend with him.
09:54You do not have to clean up your emotions before you come to him.
09:59You do not have to act brave when you're scared.
10:03You do not have to act strong when you're worn out.
10:07Bring the real thing.
10:09Bring the real you.
10:11Bring the pressure, the fear, the sadness, the anger.
10:16Bring the disappointment.
10:18Bring the unanswered prayer.
10:21Bring the whole weight of your real life.
10:25And watch what he does with real surrender.
10:28I'm telling you.
10:30Because Jesus is not enough in a fake, polished, churchy way.
10:36He's enough in hospital rooms.
10:38He's enough in lonely apartments.
10:41He's enough in your financial stress.
10:46He's enough in grief.
10:48He's enough in regret.
10:51He is enough in family tension.
10:54And when you are trying not to break in front of people.
10:59Enough.
11:00When you finally do break.
11:03So, if life feels heavy right now,
11:06I want you to hear me clearly.
11:09The fact that it is heavy does not mean Jesus is not enough.
11:14It means you need him more honestly than ever.
11:17And that's not weakness.
11:19It's wisdom.
11:21It's reality.
11:23It's where real strength starts.
11:27So, come to him as you are.
11:29Not cleaned up and not polished or pretending.
11:33Just be honest.
11:36Be tired if you are.
11:38But, be real.
11:40Because the life you are carrying may be heavy.
11:44But, Jesus is not small.
11:48He is enough.
11:51My name is Douglas Vandergraaf.
11:53And, I believe in Jesus Christ.
11:56God bless every single one of you.
11:59Every single one.
12:05Bye-bye.
