00:0045 minutes to see who will edge the final Dundee derby of the season,
00:06United in front, and if things remain the same,
00:10they would win four games in a row at Tanadice for the first time since November 2014.
00:21But they haven't had the best of times on their own patch against their city rivals.
00:30Five years since claiming a victory here against them.
00:36As Hamilton goes up.
00:42Kereshtesh.
00:44Dundee's header, no change for either side at the break.
00:49Ferruccio will look to chase that one down, but Billy Cometio is first to it.
00:56And here's John McCracken.
00:57The guy's obviously talking about potentially seeing Simon Murray.
01:03I'd be astonished if he's not on the park at some point.
01:07You know, obviously Tony Dockett, he's well accustomed to this game.
01:12He knows all about it.
01:15And I think that does matter in regards to the effervescent character that he is, the way that the park
01:22is as well.
01:23If you're the defender and the ball's bubbling around and you've got somebody like Simon Murray that's breathing down your
01:28neck and not giving you a moment's peace,
01:30that certainly, I would think, is a benefit for Dundee.
01:34And, you know, Ashley here at the top end of the park, he's not had a great deal to work
01:37with, but he's a different player.
01:39He's not the same.
01:40He's not something that the fans can see as one of their own as well.
01:45And I do think there's an element of that, perhaps in this second half, that will play its part and
01:50matter.
01:52Well, the guys in the studio were just saying he would be champing at the bit to get involved in
01:57this.
01:58He was right up for it in the warm-up because there was a bit of a scrap that went
02:02on in the lead-up before the game.
02:06He was all rather quickly settled, of course, but here's a loose one from Agui, seized upon, and Wesley, well
02:16challenged by Krestesh.
02:38Kometeo, Samuels, Cheve.
02:42You could see Kometeo there signalling that there was nothing in front of him, and there wasn't really.
02:49You know, he's on his left foot, Samuels is going to get pressed by United because it's his only real
02:55option.
02:56He needed something in front of him, whether it's a straight ball down the line or sliding into somebody's feet,
03:02and there was nobody there.
03:07It just meant that they were put under a little bit of excess pressure there that perhaps they could have
03:12relieved.
03:16Wesley to chase, but Ross Graham should be able to see that one out.
03:20Well, you can see the forward players just waiting for the ball to be passed along the back line because
03:25they know that the defenders have to take a touch on it, and they can really press that game.
03:34Which makes the forward passes so much more important, even more so than normal.
03:42Just to break the pressure that's coming from the opposition.
03:48If you continue to play too many lateral passes, eventually one of the players is going to get caught.
03:59Scott Wright, under pressure from Chávez, strain joining him, but Wright held his nerve.
04:07Graham will let it bounce, he calls for his goalkeeper and then has to react.
04:13Well, in the end, the communication not right between defender and goalkeeper.
04:22Eventually he does clear his lines, but I don't think it was realistic to expect the goalkeeper to get involved
04:27there.
04:28This time, Richards comes off his line to play.
04:44This is Congreve.
04:46This is Congreve.
04:50Right to start from Dundee.
04:56Remember, defeats for Kilmarnock and St. Mirren yesterday.
05:01He would have been greatly welcomed with Denz.
05:08He's keeping those two behind them going into this derby.
05:14They would dearly love to pick something up.
05:17They might get an opportunity here with Hay and Chávez's clearance.
05:21Comes off the Dundee player and over the top.
05:27Again, very scrappy.
05:29Balling around inside the box, it's the long throwing.
05:33First one's not dealt with, bouncing around.
05:35Eventually, the clearance is scrappy as well.
05:39Fired off of Wesley's head.
05:47I will say, at some point, I'm sure, sign the money.
06:00I will say, at some point, I'm sure, sign the money.
06:07Some of which reads it, Chávez.
06:10And I'll find Yovu.
06:19Ferry able to...
06:22shield the ball in the sunlight,
06:25peering over the top of the stand.
06:27Ferry goes down.
06:35Asley's protesting his innocence
06:40I mean my instinct when I was watching it as well was it looked as if Will Ferry
06:44was just trying to get touch the ball and go down and from that one replay that I watched there
06:51I think that's probably what has happened I didn't really see Asley doing too much that was
06:58was enough to be penalised but free kick it is and
07:06good opportunity here for Dunne United everybody in that box dangerous position here as Sapsford
07:12whips one in up goes Hay to clear Chauvet but he's still forward for United
07:26Ferruccia to settle for the throw
07:47I think Brad Halliday might be coming on shortly getting the call but there's defending to be done here for
07:54Dundee
07:54it's only as far away as Chauvet and the block comes in from Wesley
08:03just never looked like Chauvet was able to get the ball under control
08:08just seemed like it was always spinning away from him
08:11he was desperate to try to get his left boot wrapped around it
08:16Ferry is certainly covering plenty of distance going left to right to take these throws
08:37very tight this time goes
08:40comes in from Wesley and goes down by Samuels
09:14ready to try again here
09:17can't get that over the top of Luke Graham Chauvet again
09:23with a deflection
09:32goes from McCracken Congreve on the chase here
09:35Aguiai has to be careful
09:38and is
09:46it could be such an important day in the William Hill Premiership
09:51almost later on
09:54Easter Road for the Edinburgh Derby
09:57and at the moment 11 minutes in at Ibox it's 0-0 between Rangers and Motherwell
10:04huge games in the league on this Sunday
10:31going to start with the goal kick
10:38you start with the goal kick
10:4510 minutes played in the second half.
10:48Waters.
10:53Danda, in comes Agui.
11:13It feels like it needs an injection of energy.
11:18Just a little bit flat at the moment.
11:23I suppose there's an obvious option sitting on the bench in that regard, isn't it?
11:29For Dundee.
11:41.
11:54Plenty of attacking options for Steven Presley.
11:58They do need to go chasing this.
12:01Tony Yogan as well.
12:03On the bench.
12:08Samuels, but no free kick coming his way.
12:11United to get on with this, but not allowed to.
12:19That was a bit bizarre.
12:22Samuels, he would have been getting the ball and he just collapses to the ground.
12:40Agui to pick up.
12:42Very outside him.
12:45Agui beats Danda.
12:47Agui!
12:47Agui comes off the heel of Ashley for United corner and the midfielder asks for her response from the crowd.
12:58And he was doing it a couple of minutes ago up the other end as well.
13:01You can see that he's certainly feeding off the atmosphere of the Derby.
13:05Agui, strong performance in the middle of the park from Agui.
13:14Agui.
13:15Ferries corner, this time the outswinger, Hay away.
13:20Unable then to break up the secondary tack as well.
13:23Unable then to break up the secondary tack as well.
13:28And they will paint on the.
13:31They'll paint their alterations.
13:37We have they're orienting on the other side.
13:53down
13:53to impact anything too much
14:12and then the winner of fouling Hamilton
14:43just over half an hour to go
14:47Graham and Hay challenging for that
14:52unorthodox clearance but it was effective
14:54Hamilton wins it back though
15:02Dander
15:03Agui
15:04just a little late
15:13just when Dander let the ball roll across his body there I thought he was going to get dispossessed
15:19he manages just to get that extra touch away from Nagui as well
15:23you can see he opens his body up and I was certain that the United player was reading it perfectly
15:30but
15:31credit to
15:32Ian Dander he was able to just get that extra touch and get the free kick
15:38Congreve takes it's a great ball into
15:40a really dangerous area but just
15:43the fraction in front of Ethan Hamilton
15:47I think it's that man Agui again who's in there
15:50making sure that
15:52Hamilton's not getting in
15:54his body in front of him
15:57good defender from the Dundee United midfielder
16:01good defender from the Dundee United midfielder
16:18Sapsford peels wide.
16:25They wanted to go quickly.
16:30These supporters who have this full stand underneath the gantry.
16:35Great ball from Luke Graham.
16:38They're going to show a bit of frustration, here goes Scott Wright.
16:46I think Matthew McDermott was trying to play an advantage there that never really was going to come.
16:52I think that's why he's given a quick free kick back to them.
16:55Scott Wright, he dropped the shoulder that he was spinning away from Uri Jovo.
16:59He had his jersey pulled and probably should have been given a free kick.
17:10I think that's what he's doing.
17:14Billy Cometio towards Ashley Haidt.
17:17Danda comes in, but now Strain.
17:20Looks to get it forward early.
17:22Not much accuracy, though.
17:24Not much accuracy, though.
17:28rivi Cometio, you got to go.
17:31nasli botts and what's he called to Patti ville come in...
17:43Ashley.
17:45Tim dandup.
17:48Assessment of John communist won anòng creature in terms of Danda.
17:48Ashley has to lead in terms of being closed down and losing the battle with Berry.
17:51Sapsford.
17:53gamete only as far as Firouigne.
17:55it's all untidy and the free kick will go united's way or dundee's way rather
18:06yeah well just i think this perfectly illustrates how difficult under a little bit of pressure the
18:12ball bubbling around getting dispossessed eventually the free kick on ethan hamilton but
18:20it's not to say it's the wrong idea but it's that importance of you have to be looking to play
18:26a
18:26forward pass a couple of sideways passes or a ball back it needs to go forward because every time
18:33you're playing that as i said laterally or backwards it's just inviting more pressure and when the ball's
18:40not sitting perfectly like it wasn't there for ryan you could see he was uncomfortable he was
18:45unsure when he was taking his first touch will ferry's on him a flash and they're winning the
18:50ball back and potentially getting a shot away at goal
18:56and i don't mean kicking up the park no it means that those guys that are in those forward areas
19:02have got to constantly be supporting and giving options to the man that's on the ball
19:32back with chevy
19:35ross graham but that's straight to dander
19:46he's going through him to get the ball
19:57you know the big hungarian defended it well he'd got his body in the right position as you said ultimately
20:04there's no way he's getting through a little bit of frustration there for the winger
20:11good defending from kereshtez there
20:14in the right position as you said uh
20:43bad position
20:44Now Farrugia, Strainwell forward, Waters waits in the middle,
20:49but unable to get past Samuels.
20:59Yovu.
21:08Wrong from Richards.
21:10Waters and Kometi will go for it now, Farrugia.
21:14First down by Luke Graham, United for some encouragement with this corner.
21:32There he is, the club captain.
21:36Samuels Murray will be coming on shortly.
21:49Delivery, just over the top.
21:53As McCracken came out to get a fist to it, didn't manage to.
21:59United very close to a second.
22:01He clatters one of his own.
22:08It's a left hook right in the chops there.
22:10I think it's Ashley Haye in the back post.
22:34And Watters, they'll still be coming off shortly.
22:39That's been closed down by Sapsford, Farrugia.
22:42Couldn't quite help it back to Sapsford and Dundee get away with it,
22:47but they're living a dangerous life right now.
22:51We saw yesterday clearance from Falkirk that set up Celtic's first goal.
22:59Fortunately for Dundee on this occasion they had enough bodies
23:02to get back in and close it down.
23:09He doesn't step for him.
23:15The first change will be United's.
23:19Ivan Dolcek, who's only played 40 minutes this calendar year,
23:24will come on and Max Watters makes way.
23:30Meanwhile, Congreve will come off,
23:33and it's Charlie Riley.
23:36We'll replace him.
23:42Another alteration we'll see.
23:44Scott Wright be the man to come off,
23:47and Simon Murray comes on six goals in his last eight games in the Premiership
23:53after the drought that went all the way back to September.
23:57but since the start of February,
24:01only Yusuf Cermiti has scored more Premiership goals than the Dundee skipper.
24:08Cermiti on seven.
24:27The goal rush continues for Will Ferry,
24:32and he certainly knew about this one.
24:35And don't they?
24:38Don't they know about it?
24:42A stunning double from Will Ferry.
24:48Kissing it off the post for the second time.
24:53Dundee United two, Dundee nil.
24:56Will Ferry is the man having a major say in the city of Discovery.
25:03They may not have known much about the first one,
25:05but the second one is a wonderful strike from the Irishman.
25:11I'm not sure whether the goalkeeper should be doing more.
25:14He just watches it go into the corner.
25:16They take nothing away from the left-foot strike.
25:21Brilliant.
25:22Loads of power.
25:23Accuracy.
25:24Perfect.
25:25In off the inside of the post.
25:29I mean, it is a really ridiculous start to think.
25:34He hadn't scored up until four games ago, was it?
25:39It's crazy.
25:41And now he can't stop.
25:44That's four on his last four.
25:47Or Will Ferry.
25:53And what a day to be doing it.
26:08Just under 20 minutes to go.
26:11They're in the...
26:12Still the first half hour at Ibrox, but I can tell you that...
26:17That is currently Rangers-0.
26:19Motherwell two.
26:20Lucas Faddinger and Emmanuel Longolo have scored for Motherwell.
26:25As Ferry delivering it in.
26:27Oh, he's made the assist now.
26:28And it's Strain that heads in a third.
26:31A quick-fire double for Dundee United.
26:39On this beautiful, beautiful Sunday for the home sides.
26:47They've had to wait a long time for a Derby victory at home.
26:51And they are making the most of it this Sunday in the Dundee sunshine.
26:57Well, it's delirium in Dundee for United.
27:023-0 up.
27:03And you do wonder how many more there could be.
27:08Brilliant wing play from Will Ferry.
27:11And then at the back post, Samuels caught on his heels.
27:17As Ryan Strain comes in and nods it nonchalantly into the corner to make it three.
27:24Dundee are all over the shop.
27:26United.
27:29Well, you see what he thinks.
27:31Tell me all about it.
27:33Well, he'll be having a word with Will Ferry and hoping that he might go on a similar run
27:37because that's Ryan Strain's first goal for Dundee United.
27:42How do you do it, Will?
27:44That's taken 52 games for him to get his first.
27:48So he'll be four in his next four as well.
27:50I mean, look, they're going to be revelling in the result at the moment.
27:55But I suppose there will be a little bit of a nagging feeling in amongst a few of the supporters
28:01thinking about what could have been.
28:03Because this run of form that they've been on since the start of March,
28:08it suggests this team should have been really in that top six.
28:13But they've just not done enough over the course of the whole season.
28:18But we all know that it's a big club.
28:20The question I would turn to then, if they should be in the top six, in place of who?
28:25Oh, yeah, exactly. I know. I'm just meaning that if they'd shown a bit...
28:30Like, for a Dundee United supporter, and I think for most you'd recognise that Dundee United are a top six
28:35club.
28:36And it's just the consistency levels, clearly it's not been there enough.
28:44The top six deserve to be the top six, you know, all the teams in there have done their job.
28:50But they're not going to convince these guys that they're not capable.
28:55They've certainly turned up and shown it here today.
29:00They are absolutely loving it, and it's too much for some in the visiting end.
29:06They've headed for the exits.
29:10But in this fixture you never know, we've seen so much late drama before,
29:15but a three-goal advantage with 16 minutes to go.
29:20It's difficult to make a case for Dundee now.
29:25And I think for Dundee it really is a damage limitation at this point
29:31because the concern that Dundee have got is when you look at the run of form their own,
29:40the games that are coming up, it really does throw them into the mix
29:44when you start looking at those playoff spots.
29:47And when you're conceding these number of goals,
29:49goal difference could potentially play a big part in that as well.
29:54Have a look at that shortly with the Pride League table,
29:58because it is so tight between those teams battling to avoid the 11th spot.
30:08United looking to be well clear as the team in seventh.
30:15And you can see here there's just one goal of difference between Dundee and Samirin
30:21if they were to become level on points.
30:25Dundee still with five points over Kilmarnock.
30:29So they do have a bit of breathing room.
30:33But this is where the split works so well.
30:37You have all the teams fighting amongst one another facing off,
30:41and it will be Dundee against Samirin next.
30:47We could actually do with a favour from United next week when they head down to Kilmarnock.
31:03And our final two games of the Premiership season will both come from Livingston.
31:09First up, next Friday night they face Aberdeen, that's from 7.15 Premier Sports 1,
31:14and then the final day of the season, Sunday the 17th of May of the league season,
31:19of course, Livingston against Kilmarnock from 2pm on Premier Sports 1.
31:24Because the final game will come from the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park,
31:30Celtic against Unferm on Athletic from 3 o'clock, that is the 23rd of May in Premier Sports 2.
31:53Buttons for looking to close that one down.
32:02That guy has been very good in the middle of park, has he won so many
32:13loose balls
32:14driving the team forward
32:18and he's not been lacking quality as well
32:20when he's had to put his foot on the ball
32:25up goes Hay with Graham
32:27the nature of the timing of those goals
32:31have meant that Charlie Riley and Simon Murray
32:34have just not had any opportunity to get involved in this game
32:37the two goals going straight in
32:40as they came onto the park
32:42it's just nullified any potential threat or momentum
32:47that they were trying to shift Dundee
32:49it's all firmly in favour of the home side
32:52it looks like Dundee's four-match unbeaten run
33:03that Tanadice is going to come to an end
33:06unless something massively dramatic
33:09it can happen and they're going to throw Tony Yogan on into the action
33:16as Ashley Hay comes off
33:18so Simon Murray will go through the middle
33:20and Yogan
33:22Yogan
33:23to this spot on the left wing
33:36easy one for Richards to take
33:38easy one for Richards to take
33:42easy one for Richards to take
33:54ding it
33:55if he has to take
33:56apples to take
33:57and he's 50-10
33:57eva
33:57and he can pass
33:57they canck
33:58and they can
34:00thump
34:00themselves
34:21they can't
34:22I think
34:24Triple change, Johnny Russell amongst the trio, waiting in the wings.
34:30Of course, he's had his major say in this fixture many years ago.
34:42There's Jan Dander.
34:45This front post, which has had it all covered.
34:52It's not the worst ball, but for that to be working,
34:57they need somebody to be running across the face of the goalkeeper.
35:02Unfortunately for Dundee, there was nobody there.
35:05It becomes an easy, comfortable save for David Richards.
35:24Well, it will be Will Ferry, and what an impact he has had.
35:30The opening goal had a degree of fortune about it, a large slice.
35:35However, the second was an absolute cracker.
35:38And just moments after that, he curled one into Ryan Strain to head in the third.
35:46Strain will also be heading off as Dario Namo and Johnny Russell come on.
35:56Pantush Kamara will replace Emmanuel Aguiai.
36:00And Johnny Russell gets an understandable reaction from the home crowd.
36:33And Johnny Russell gets an understandable reaction from the home crowd.
36:39Chevy.
36:43Kereshtesh.
36:48Hamilton.
36:50Away from Kamara.
36:55Dolceic comes back, too physical for the referee's liking.
37:00I think he's fortunate, Ethan Hamilton in the end there.
37:05Jogan.
37:10Nice.
37:13Got taken out by Yovu, but no free kick.
37:17And it will be United's ball again.
37:19Well, as much as Ethan Hamilton is fortunate, I think Yuri Yovu is very fortunate here.
37:26That's a free kick.
37:30Not that it's going to make any difference to the result here, but...
37:33Yeah.
37:35I think the centre half's got away with one there.
37:45Get his hand.
37:49Go.
37:50Go.
37:50Go.
37:51Go.
37:53Go.
37:55Go.
37:57Go.
37:57Go.
38:20All the way out to Ferruja, who will now be operating on the far side.
38:38United fans enjoying every moment of this.
38:42Well, if they didn't enjoy the end to the last one, they're certainly savouring this game, this
38:50Darby at home.
38:52Do you think that will still be in the backs of their minds?
38:54Obviously, they're a little bit further ahead now, but I was saying earlier on there's
39:00definitely going to play a part in it.
39:01The motivation for Dundee United to go and try and right a few of the wrongs, they felt
39:06as if they should have won that game.
39:08They ended up having to walk down the road with only a point, feeling like a defeat.
39:14And it now looks like they're going to be able to take the three points in this game.
39:24But they were celebrating early over at Dens as well.
39:28You would think though, even with three and a half minutes plus stoppage time to play, but they were
39:34added time in that game.
39:36And they thought they were safe.
39:38You never know in this finish.
39:41And certainly if Dundee were able to turn this round, it would trump obviously what happened a few short weeks
39:49ago.
39:49And it would be crucial for the team from Dens Park because it starts to get a wee bit too
39:56close for comfort, that battle of the playoff spot at the bottom of the table.
40:14Cometeo does well to find Samuels.
40:21Cometeo looks forward.
40:23Cometeo goes forward.
40:26Cometeo goes forward.
40:27Cometeo goes forward Joghan,
40:30to hold off that goal,
40:31to hold off Namu,
40:33to hold off.
40:35Cometeo goes forward.
40:35Cometeo goes forward.
40:38Cometeo goes forward.
40:42Cometeze moves forward.
40:43Yogan,
40:45Colombia.
40:45Christ off to Chlove,
40:46Hazard,
40:46and Saps right out.
40:53spin from Jan Dandup, Ethan Hamilton, foul committed by Dolczyk.
41:09Just thought he was getting crowded out here, Hamilton.
41:16Dolczyk frustrated, free kick given against them.
41:20Thankfully the referee has seen sense, just awarding the free kick and that's all.
41:30David Richards will be pretty keen to keep his clean sheet.
41:42I understand there's to be three further minutes at the end of the 90.
41:47Dandup.
41:48Oh, Richards has spilled it.
41:49And then enough from Namo to put off Cometio.
41:55The determination of United to keep one part of that scoreline at nil.
42:01That's exactly it. It's the desire to make sure that they keep a clean sheet.
42:06Namo does brilliantly.
42:08Here's Russell.
42:11Runs out of space.
42:17Because when you see this ricocheting back up off the goalkeeper, Richards,
42:21you're thinking it's a certain goal, Cometio's going to tap it in.
42:24But Namo gets himself in there,
42:27makes sure he's the one that gets his boot to it first.
42:30There's brilliant defending there.
42:31One for Dario Namo, who's a Finnish under-21s player, he's on the ball now.
42:37He may yet be heading to the World Cup
42:41because he qualifies for Iraq through his father, Ruzgur.
42:48And after they beat Bolivia in the play-off to make their first World Cup since 1986,
42:54Graeme Arnold has been in touch, looking to get him to change his national allegiance.
43:07Well, Michael, as we just go into stoppage time, in which there are three minutes,
43:13who is your player of the match this afternoon?
43:16Well, I thought Agiai in the middle of the part was very, very good for Dungeon A,
43:19but the man in your picture is there, who eventually you'll see him,
43:22as Will Ferry continuing his goalscoring form for Dundee United.
43:28Two huge goals, the first one perhaps slightly fortuitous,
43:32the second one no question about it, top class.
43:36Will Ferry, man of the match, sorry.
43:42Sapsford looks over the top for Russell in a race with Samuels.
43:46This will be tricky and awkward for McCracken, that'll do.
43:51And Finley, the goal keeper.
43:58And
44:24All part of the building process for Goodwin and Dundee United
44:28for next season, the squad taking shape and finishing the campaign with momentum.
44:36This will have a great feeling this afternoon.
44:50It's a 7-8.
44:56Dundee fans are looking for some waves from the studio.
45:11It was in the team when United last beat Dundee here.
45:22Kamara, Namo.
45:26Charlie the lucky mascot.
45:38He talked about all the good that this will do for United, for Dundee.
45:44It's a major missed opportunity to drag themselves further clear of that danger zone.
45:52Then the doubts and the nerves begin to kick in.
46:01That just about sums it up for them.
46:04A day to forget for Dundee, but for Dundee United, they will relish this.
46:14The day that Will Ferri sunk Dundee.
46:21The double for Will Ferri, either side of half-time.
46:27An assist for his fellow wing-back in Ryan Strain.
46:34There was a moment of controversy in that first half when Dundee had their goal disallowed.
46:40But from then on in the second half, United never looked back.
46:46And they will very much enjoy this victory on home turf against their nearest rivals.
46:55It's the tangerine half of the city that will celebrate in the sunshine this afternoon.
47:08United looking to close out in seventh place in the league.
47:15And they'll remember that one for a while.
47:17Full-time scorer at Talladice Park, Dundee United three, Dundee nil.
