00:00:00I'm Peter Martin, Alan Ruff, Tam McManus, and our special guest,
00:00:03Kellyanne Sheridan, is brought in basically to add a bit of firepower up front.
00:00:08It's fairly weak at the moment with somebody training like a madman,
00:00:11and I thought we'd bring somebody in rugged who could hold the ball up
00:00:14and then bring midfielders into the play.
00:00:17So, Kellyanne, absolutely delighted that you could join us.
00:00:21We've got lots to talk about, and of course,
00:00:23we're sponsored by CameronCommercialVehicles.com.
00:00:27If you go to their website, then Sean Germani will help you
00:00:30with any quality new or used van that you need for your business.
00:00:36The headlines, sponsored by CancelMyParkingTicket.com.
00:00:40Martin O'Neill says he's going to have to do without a Raho.
00:00:44He's gone back to Bournemouth, picked up another injury,
00:00:46so he will not be back at Celtic before the end of the season.
00:00:51And the Celtic manager also questioned those conspiracy theories.
00:00:54Danny Roll, excited about the last-day possibilities.
00:00:57Derek McInnes, the Harps boss, not worried about how the fixtures have come out.
00:01:02He said he'd be happy to play in a car park as long as they're in the mix for the
00:01:06title.
00:01:07And up in the Granite City, Stephen Robinson has called for a togetherness among his squad
00:01:12to try and fight their way out of the possibility of a playoff place
00:01:17at the bottom of the Premiership.
00:01:19You can give us your thoughts on that on the feed today.
00:01:23And our question, our quiz question today, courtesy of Elite Joinery and Fire Protection,
00:01:28is all about this man on my left-hand side.
00:01:31What a belter of a car is, by the way.
00:01:34What'd you up for?
00:01:35That's my debut, yeah.
00:01:38And it's, what year did Killian sign for Celtic?
00:01:43Ruffy, do you want to have a go at it?
00:01:44The big man's going to give us the answer at the end of the programme.
00:01:47So, have a look at the gear, the hairstyle.
00:01:50I'm always mild out, a bit.
00:01:52I'll go 96.
00:01:5596?
00:01:57Oh my God, man.
00:01:58I'm on board.
00:02:00I looked that a lot.
00:02:03What a blow that is for you.
00:02:04What's up?
00:02:072002.
00:02:082002.
00:02:09I'm certainly six years away from you.
00:02:10Yeah, but he wasn't playing with Brian Loudrup, was he?
00:02:15Anyway, you give us your thoughts on it as well.
00:02:18We'd love to know what you think, as ever.
00:02:20Ruffy with his hand on a pulse, but it's not the one in this place.
00:02:24Don't forget also, over the course of the programme,
00:02:28if there's any points that you want to put to us,
00:02:30you can, by all means, on our live feed.
00:02:33Try and keep it sane as we get ever closer to the end of the season.
00:02:37And people get unbelievably excited about what's happening
00:02:41and they also get a bit dodgy on our feed.
00:02:45So, keep that in mind.
00:02:47Anyway, here's the fixtures.
00:02:48Here's how it all looks over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
00:02:51A couple of belter games I'm looking forward to.
00:02:54Aberdeen against Hibbs.
00:02:56Celtic take on St Mirren.
00:02:57It's Dundee United against Livingston.
00:02:59Hearts against Motherwell.
00:03:00And Kilmarnock against Dundee.
00:03:02That's the Saturday fixtures.
00:03:03And on the Sunday at 12 noon, it's Falkirk against Rangers.
00:03:08Have you ever known anything like it for this one, Killian?
00:03:10All the way, it could go right down to the wire.
00:03:13Yeah.
00:03:13No, I've been saying it for the last few weeks that I think it'll go...
00:03:16I think it'll go possibly goal difference.
00:03:20That's how tied I am.
00:03:22Down to...
00:03:23Now, that really will kick in with the conspiracy theories along the way
00:03:27because, as you're well aware, Chris Sutton in the game with Rangers against Infermland.
00:03:32Who was Celtic playing that day?
00:03:33Kilmarnock, oh yeah.
00:03:34Kilmarnock, that's right.
00:03:35They won 4-1.
00:03:36Celtic won 4-1.
00:03:37Alan Thompson missed a penalty.
00:03:39And they were moaning about...
00:03:40Rangers won 6-1, I think.
00:03:41They were moaning about goal difference.
00:03:43That's right.
00:03:43But is it...
00:03:45I'm interested to know what you think, Killian, about the standard overall.
00:03:49We've been quite critical about the overall quality,
00:03:52but the excitement is there for everybody.
00:03:55Yeah, no, I think we've probably had to give up on quality
00:03:59in exchange for the excitement we have.
00:04:01I think if the quality was there as has been in previous years,
00:04:06I don't think Hearts would have been really as tight as it is now.
00:04:11And even when you're thinking about the Player of the Year awards,
00:04:15you're struggling to pick out a standout player
00:04:18where that kind of, I think, highlights how poor it kind of has been.
00:04:22Yeah, it's good for you to be here
00:04:23because, obviously, we've got to get an apology in quickly from Tam.
00:04:26Tam, we were...
00:04:28I mean, we were absolutely struggling for a young Player of the Year
00:04:31when we were looking at candidates.
00:04:33We were looking at Andrew Todd.
00:04:34We were looking at data buffs, never.
00:04:35We were googling data buffs, never.
00:04:37We were trying to get something,
00:04:39because you've got to be 21 before a certain date, Ruffy.
00:04:44So we checked and everything else.
00:04:45We were obviously checking with the PFA as well.
00:04:48And Luke Graham comes into that category.
00:04:49I think he's got a good shot.
00:04:51Andrew Todd scored 16 goals for Dunfermour.
00:04:54Last time we spoke about it, somebody said they had to be Scottish.
00:04:57That can't be true, is it?
00:04:58It is for the PFA.
00:04:59Is it?
00:05:00Yeah.
00:05:01Because I think Mickey Moore's a standout.
00:05:03Yeah.
00:05:03You know, his age, you know, to win it.
00:05:05But if that's a category you can't win it if you're not Scottish,
00:05:11then...
00:05:12Yeah.
00:05:12Well, I think it's really the PFA Scotland is a celebration of young Scottish talent.
00:05:16I think that's where the real crux of the award, the emerging Scottish talent,
00:05:20that gives them the incentive.
00:05:23You know, I've won the award.
00:05:24Can I go on to greater things?
00:05:26Whereas the benefit for other players who are playing elsewhere,
00:05:32they've got their own associations.
00:05:34Yeah, there's two different ones, isn't there?
00:05:35There's the sportswriters and there's the PFA.
00:05:36I think the sportswriters, I don't think, you need to be Scottish.
00:05:38Yeah.
00:05:39I think maybe the PFA...
00:05:39Well, I think you would win that one.
00:05:40But you're right, Luke Graham would be...
00:05:43Yeah.
00:05:43Would be mentioned as well, he's a tremendous season.
00:05:45And obviously, the club's looking at him just now, you know, for next season.
00:05:49So, I think they'll be losing him at the end of the season.
00:05:52But, yeah, certainly he's been super.
00:05:55What age is Barney Stewart?
00:05:58Barney?
00:05:58He just missed it.
00:05:59He just missed it.
00:05:59He just missed his 22.
00:06:00Yeah, he's 22.
00:06:01I've had maybe a bit of a shout out.
00:06:03Yeah, he had a good shout because he's obviously scored the goals.
00:06:06As you know, when you get your vote, it's all the players who vote.
00:06:09It's not as if it's some kind of a...
00:06:11It's not being stitched up by, you know, a panel somewhere along the line.
00:06:14All you guys get a forum.
00:06:16You vote.
00:06:17Some do, some don't.
00:06:18Some vote for their favourite team who they support.
00:06:21Some will never vote for a player who plays for a certain team, Killian.
00:06:24But the other aspect of it as well is, you kind of get to that situation where you're looking
00:06:31and you say to yourself, can you get as many?
00:06:35Who's all in the nominations?
00:06:37We had four down for the player of the year and you forgot Braga.
00:06:42Yeah, I did.
00:06:43And I was getting slaughtered for that last night because obviously those were Hearts.
00:06:46But I did forget about them.
00:06:48Did you know how two Hearts players in the team?
00:06:51I had Devlin and Shankland.
00:06:53Shankland, yeah.
00:06:54But you'd have put Braga in as well, the three of them.
00:06:56It's difficult to...
00:06:57We spoke about it before the show.
00:06:58It's very difficult.
00:06:59I mean, Negrin scored a lot of goals for Celtic.
00:07:02Still not really a popular player amongst the Celtic supporters.
00:07:04Did I tell you who's in the running to win the Hearts play of the year?
00:07:07Go on.
00:07:08Harry Millen.
00:07:10He's not going to win it.
00:07:11He won't win it.
00:07:12I think Braga has a stick on.
00:07:14I think he's had a fantastic season.
00:07:15He has.
00:07:15He's been a big, big player.
00:07:16He's been injured the last few...
00:07:17Well, Shankland and Devlin have been out for what?
00:07:21Two?
00:07:21Three, one?
00:07:21Two?
00:07:22Two or...
00:07:23Not two or three, one, Shroffy.
00:07:25I think maybe about...
00:07:26I'm only going with the Hearts supporters.
00:07:28That's what they're saying.
00:07:29Harry Millen.
00:07:31I wouldn't go against them not having a great season, but I wouldn't...
00:07:34I wouldn't have picked three Hearts players in their running 4-0.
00:07:37What are you, Selkillian?
00:07:38Who's impressed you?
00:07:40I was...
00:07:41When I was thinking about it earlier, Braga was kind of one of the first ones that came
00:07:45into my head.
00:07:45Yeah.
00:07:47But then his numbers aren't mind-blowing where you're like, well, he has to win it.
00:07:53I think if Celtic were to go on and win it, and say between now and the end of the
00:07:57season
00:07:57Negrin picks up another five gold or something, it's hard not to look at someone like that.
00:08:03But for midfield, if he scored 23, 24 goals, he would certainly be on the running.
00:08:08Sometimes, we were talking about it, sometimes you have to make a late run, as in finish the
00:08:12season strongly, and then you're at the forefront of people's minds.
00:08:15Are you surprised that he's kind of unflattering in the way that people talk about him?
00:08:20Because he's scoring a great amount of goals for a midfielder.
00:08:25In fact, if he wasn't scoring himself, he wouldn't be anywhere near this.
00:08:27Yeah, no, definitely.
00:08:29Especially in today's football world, where stats kind of rule everything.
00:08:34I think his stats speak for themselves.
00:08:38It's a really weird one where performance is, he can kind of drift out of a game and
00:08:42not really do much, and then pop up, right place, right time, scores a goal.
00:08:48But the thing that will probably hurt him is when the votes happen.
00:08:53Yeah.
00:08:53So that's the other thing, you're voting for players that you don't know if they're going
00:08:57to be winning a league for the club or not.
00:08:59I think it's the first, it's always the first Sunday.
00:09:03I think it'll be the, I think it's the third of May, it's always the first Sunday before
00:09:06the bank holiday for the PFA Player of the Year Awards.
00:09:10And maybe a week or two later for the, is it the seventh for the, I got my invite in
00:09:15this morning.
00:09:15Yeah, okay, right, that's fine, just because you're a previous winner.
00:09:19But the one thing I was going to say is, no surprise, Ruffey, I've got two, I've got
00:09:25two multiple players in there.
00:09:27I mean, actually, I'm really hard pushed not to mention Elliot Watt.
00:09:30Elliot Watt's been my favourite player of the season for what he does for my midfield
00:09:34area.
00:09:35But Eli, Justin, Mazvinisi, I've got to get a mention.
00:09:38Yeah, I think you're right in mentioning the two of them, then you've got the problem
00:09:41of which one you fall on.
00:09:44I personally would go for just, I think he's been inspirational, particularly against the
00:09:49big sides, you know, you can see that he's got what it takes, he can see a pass, he's
00:09:54obviously, you know, his form's been there for the whole year, so if I was going to go
00:09:58for a Motherwell player, it would be him.
00:10:00What about yourself?
00:10:01Who are you going to pick, Killian?
00:10:03For Player of the Year?
00:10:04Yeah.
00:10:05I didn't really have any, like I said, there's no standout, but now let's just say, just,
00:10:12probably would be hard to disagree with that.
00:10:14Yeah.
00:10:14I'll go for Mazvinisi, just for simple, I think he's got 16 or 17 goals in the Premiership
00:10:20and a few more in the Cup.
00:10:21I think if a Motherwell striker scores 20 plus goals, he's got to be in the mix, but it's,
00:10:26yeah.
00:10:26I think the problem this year is, there's no clear standout for me.
00:10:29That's what I'm saying, I mean, when is the last time that a Rangers are a Celtic striker,
00:10:34hasn't he got 25 goals?
00:10:36You know, they're the ones that usually, if there's not many issues, usually it's gone.
00:10:38My Eda last year was a stick-on, my Eda last year was a stick-on with the amount of
00:10:42goals
00:10:42he scored.
00:10:42Yeah, sometimes, and I mean, we're going to talk about it with every team here, because
00:10:48that's how significant it's going to be in the running, but, I mean, Celtic and Rangers
00:10:54always should be guaranteed a striker with 20, 25 goals.
00:10:59I don't mean to be really scathing about him, Killian, but Chavanchara, just when he gets
00:11:04to that point, there has to be a certain, you'll know better than anybody, you've got,
00:11:09you get it one chance, you've got to score.
00:11:11Yeah, he just doesn't look confident or composed in front of goal, even like, he's a weird one
00:11:18where he doesn't look particularly fast, but he seems to get away from defenders and
00:11:22can beat people, but it's just that once he starts kind of sprinting with the ball, it
00:11:26just seems to always be getting away from him, and then he's never really in a comfortable,
00:11:30controlled position to finish, whereas when the ball breaks to Iheanacho, you feel much
00:11:36more confident that he's going to be calm, composed, and he'll take his chances.
00:11:40Just the problem is his fitness issues are really hampering him this season.
00:11:45Yeah, and the big dilemma for me is Cermiti, because, you know, he's come with a heavy
00:11:49price tag, he's got £8 million, you're thinking to yourself, in this run-in, if you were looking
00:11:54and you're saying to yourself, if Rangers or Celtic are going to win this league, you're
00:11:57looking at Celtic and saying, you've mentioned Iheanacho, but Cermiti, for me, the Rangers
00:12:01fans would be hoping, can he start banging in goals to win this?
00:12:05I know, I think he, when he first came in, we could obviously see he was struggling, and
00:12:08then he goes and scores.
00:12:10A worldie.
00:12:10Worldie goals against Celtic, hat-trick against Hearts, big massive games he shows up, and
00:12:15I think that kind of bought him time and bought him games where he wouldn't be playing well
00:12:21and wouldn't be scoring, but there was always the feeling of, well, once the big games come,
00:12:25he's going to, like, it kind of gave him a pass a bit, whereas I think we've kind of seen
00:12:29he's gone back to that form that he was getting a bit of criticism for.
00:12:33Yeah, Rangers fans will certainly be hoping.
00:12:36I think Nadiri's supposedly, he's picked up a bad injury, he's out, so it might be a
00:12:41Miofsky coming back, and I like Miofsky, I think Miofsky's the best finisher they've
00:12:45got, natural finisher, but these other parts of his game, I think that Danny Roll's looking
00:12:49for that central striker to be the link man and link the play and run the channels, and
00:12:53I don't think Miofsky is that, so maybe he'll go with Cermiti and Miofsky now as a two
00:12:57up front, and now Nadiri's out, so yeah, I think there is a big burden on those two,
00:13:01and Mikey Moore in particular for Rangers.
00:13:03Yeah, let's talk about the Champions Elect first trophy, Hearts, because Killian's not
00:13:11aware of the fact that Tam, if Hearts win the league, is going to wear a full Hearts kit
00:13:15with shinies and boots on in the studio, which is, you know, not quite sure what they are.
00:13:21She mentions every show, by the way.
00:13:23Well, I've got to mention it because so many Hearts fans are saying to me, we are taping
00:13:27it, because they can't wait.
00:13:31Anyway, the fixtures come out, everybody's desperately looking and saying, I mean, much
00:13:36ado about nothing, Ruffy, I don't know if you've heard some of the people who've been
00:13:40bleating on about the conspiracy of the, you know, the conspiracy of the fixtures, first
00:13:46of all, which I found laughable, and then, you know, about how it's come out in favour
00:13:51of whoever.
00:13:52You always knew that was going to happen.
00:13:54Yeah, well, it's supposed to be 19 home, 19 away, and I think they've done their best to
00:13:58make that happen. I think the Hearts fans in particular are just a bit upset that the
00:14:03last one is at Parkhead. You know, they'll have a small contingent of supporters at that
00:14:08game, which won't help them at all, but you don't know how it's going to pan out to get
00:14:12to there. You know, but, yeah, some of the conspiracy things, I think guys in the game
00:14:18know the people in charge have no conspiracy theories. They try and do their best, and they
00:14:24hope it can pan out as much as it can.
00:14:26I think the majority of it is worked out by a computer, and then, obviously, Calum Beatty
00:14:31has to then try and, you know, look at the whole thing and then try and influence it towards
00:14:36fairness. You know, I think the initial format of it goes into a computer, and then from there
00:14:43he has to tweak it, obviously.
00:14:45I would show you how stupid it would be if everybody that's thrown their tuppens with
00:14:49and got their way. They'd want it their way, or we would, well, let us go second, let us
00:14:54go third.
00:14:54It wouldn't get done.
00:14:55Exactly. You know, it would be a shambles.
00:14:57I'm not quite sure. You know what it's like in the west of Scotland, Raffey, they're trying
00:15:00to work out if it's a Catholic or a Protestant computer.
00:15:04AI.
00:15:04Yeah.
00:15:04What skill did AI go to?
00:15:08Exactly. Whereas the rest of the world just seems to be able to get on normally in Scotland,
00:15:15but only in this end. Or, of course, in the east now. Could it be a wee G.A.I.
00:15:21who's
00:15:22working it all out? But, nevertheless, I like the Hearts boss, Derek McInnes' attitude towards
00:15:28the fixtures.
00:15:34We'll hear from Derek McInnes in a minute, but, basically, I think he's not going to
00:15:38make excuses, Raffey, for any of it.
00:15:41No, he stayed positive right from the very, very start. You know, after every game, after
00:15:45every result, he's been positive. You know, we're still three points clear, we're still
00:15:50top of the league, we're still one point clear. He's keeping everybody, you know, buying into
00:15:55it, you know, and that's the right way to do it. You know, you don't want him becoming
00:15:59out and to be seen to be complaining, particularly when you've been at the front for so long.
00:16:04Yeah, absolutely. And, of course, this is a real test. If we're talking about games where
00:16:08there is a test, Motherwell is one of them.
00:16:11Yeah, I think you'll know that they've probably got a way with one early on in the season,
00:16:17being 3-0 down and getting something from that one. And I think as the season has gone
00:16:21on, everyone has obviously seen how well and hard it is to play against Motherwell.
00:16:27Motherwell as well, not on the best of run. They'll want to get back to winning ways.
00:16:33So I think it's a tough weekend, for Hearts especially, and I think this weekend is probably
00:16:39the most advantageous to Celtic.
00:16:45That's an interesting take.
00:16:46I agree. I think Rangers have got a tough game in front, plus they're playing after.
00:16:50You know, Celtic, you would expect Celtic to take care of St Myrna at home. And then they
00:16:54would go, was it a level in points for Rangers or a point ahead of Rangers? Two behind Rangers
00:16:58at the minute? Three behind? Two behind Rangers and three behind Hearts.
00:17:01Yeah.
00:17:01So they would go above Rangers and then Rangers would have a really tricky game away to Falkirk
00:17:04who have been flying this season. So, yeah, I think this weekend, if you're a Celtic supporter,
00:17:09you're thinking, right, a wee chance to make up ground on the two above us.
00:17:12I was surprised Derek McInnes came out and said that. I thought he was going to come out like,
00:17:17like any manager, I was kind of guessing, would have come out and almost put in place
00:17:24some sort of cushion for the team or the players to be like, everything's against us or like,
00:17:28you know, that kind of mentality. And then he's come out real bullish. I love it, but
00:17:32he's come out real bullish and being like, no, it doesn't matter. Let's like kind of bring
00:17:35it on.
00:17:36Yeah. This is what Derek McInnes had to say. I'm trying.
00:17:43To play them in a car park, I'll be honest with you, I actually don't really care from
00:17:46your point of view, where we play and the times and all the rest of it. The fans, it's
00:17:51no ideal, particularly the bank holiday one day, because not everybody gets the bank holiday.
00:17:56So I can see some gripes with that. But listen, it's moved for TV. It's getting moved for
00:18:01TV for a reason, because we're where we are in the league. And I don't really want to
00:18:05kind of get too caught up in it.
00:18:08I like it. I mean, I understand where you're coming from. Because, Ruffy, you know, suddenly
00:18:13you get to the point where you use the old Fergie mentality. This mobber, this mobber
00:18:17have got it in for us.
00:18:18As Cian said, he'll be doing that in-house. He'll be doing that in the dressing room.
00:18:22I mean, we'll tell the players exactly, you know, and keeping them on track. I think
00:18:26his ticket allocation will be caught in the car park. I don't think you'd get 500 in.
00:18:32You get a better view of it from the away end, behind that big colour.
00:18:36Yeah, yeah. I don't understand, man. It's a real brass neck when you actually stick him
00:18:42in the corner. I don't like that. I think realistically, if you've got, there should be a little bit
00:18:48just behind the goal rather than stuck in the corner. I think it's really unfair.
00:18:51It's the worst, I think, away area in Scotland. Because there's a big, massive pillar right
00:18:56in front of the supporters as well, tucked away in that corner. But, yeah, I think
00:19:00Ruffy's right. I think that he'll be saying to the players in-house, listen, nobody wants
00:19:04us to win it. Look at the fixtures. They want the Celtic Rangers to win it. So, go and show
00:19:09them. But, I think 5.30 on a Monday, Monday night is a good time for the fixture, for the
00:19:18on it, for the weekend. One more beer.
00:19:22Probably don't see you if they win.
00:19:25Hello, Tam. Can you answer your phone? I listened to come up against a motherless side that just
00:19:31tapered off a wee bit, which I must admit, it's not taking the shine off it, it's just
00:19:36that I don't want it to end, you know, in a downward slope for them. Because I've been
00:19:41so enthused by what they've delivered this season.
00:19:44Yeah, I think what they've delivered this season justifies them getting a place in Europe.
00:19:49It'd be a tragedy if they don't get in Europe, you know, and all those permutations that they
00:19:53could get in, even if they were fifth. But certainly, you know, there have been a joy
00:19:57to watch. You know, I did say the other week, I think now teams are beginning to catch on
00:20:01to that, passing it for the back. They're getting caught far too often now, you know, instead
00:20:06of just launching it. So, it may seem to be seen whether they've learnt their lessons.
00:20:10But, you know, I think they've been a joy to watch this year, but it's going to be a
00:20:15good game.
00:20:15And I think Harts will get after them at a time castle. You know, they'll, Motherwell
00:20:19won't change. I think they'll be the front three. Braga, Kaziridis and Shankland will
00:20:24just go like that. So, his mother will get the ball. Like, Paul got done it last week.
00:20:27Well, that's what I was going to say. Last week, that's the first thing John McGlynn
00:20:30had. Three and then four players right on the edge of 18-yard. And then as soon as the
00:20:35centre-half, Ruffy hates this, the centre-half then plays it to the goalie. And then the goalie
00:20:39starts dithering and then it's an old panic. But fortunately for him, Killian, I mean, I was
00:20:45at Tynecastle when they went 3-0 up against Harts and they thought they were getting that
00:20:48an absolute doing. But he's persisted with it. And when I questioned him last week on,
00:20:55listen, you've got caught again with a goal, let's let Falkirk, you know, get the incentive
00:20:59to go on. And he said, no, no, we've played out eight times from the back and scored a goal.
00:21:05And it's brought about a goal. So, of the times that we get caught Celtic Park when they
00:21:10were 2-1 up, that one there against Falkirk, he said they keep doing it. And Paul McGinn
00:21:16said the exact same thing. He said, no, no, we're not making excuses. The gaffer told us
00:21:20we play this way, that's the way we play.
00:21:22Yeah. No, I admire it. And it probably helps players when they know if they make a mistake,
00:21:28it doesn't really matter. Not that it doesn't matter, but it gives them, yeah, he's not going
00:21:32to be like, what are you doing there? You can't lose it there. He's like, he's probably
00:21:36telling them, well done, you're still doing what I'm asking to do. And it's one of the
00:21:40hardest things to, if you make a mistake or you give the ball away, to then want the ball
00:21:45and to try the same thing again, knowing that the other team's onto it, pressure's straight
00:21:49on top of you. So, I think a massive part of that is from him probably forcing them
00:21:55to persist with it.
00:21:57Ruffy makes a good point there about the fact that every year, you know, a lot of people
00:22:01don't give them the credit. Managers, coaches, players work out the way some players play,
00:22:09they work out systems, and they work out overall the strategy of the manager. But I wonder if
00:22:16he's able to get better players again. It's tough at Motherwell, but if you get better players
00:22:21again and you play that system, I wonder how good a manager he's going to become.
00:22:26As in if he goes on to a bigger team?
00:22:29Or he's able to say to himself, I mean, we all think people will cherry-pick
00:22:33Motherwell this summer.
00:22:35Probably the difficulty he'd have would be, you saw that period at the start of the season
00:22:40where Motherwell struggled and were losing goals from that style of play. And probably
00:22:46players took a lot of time to get used to it, to get confidence in actually playing
00:22:51like that. So to go to a bigger team where he probably, it's kind of what everyone's been
00:22:56saying, that he's not going to have that time to wait seven or eight games before it
00:23:01clicks and he gets his first win. That's probably the only issue. But if it was to remain
00:23:07in Scotland, at least Scottish football fans can see, no, if you give him time, it's going
00:23:13to work out. If it's somewhere else abroad, they might not have seen the beginning of the
00:23:18season.
00:23:18Yeah, I must admit, I mean, I applaud the Motherwell fans because they are right into
00:23:24him. They buy him the time, they play along the back line, they're patient with him. When
00:23:29they go through a passage of play, which is great to watch, they're all giving him a standing
00:23:34ovation. I mean, full marks to them. I love their reaction to him. And of course, with the
00:23:38split, Jens Berthalaska has been talking about that. He really likes it.
00:23:43It gives the opportunity for the teams who both can show it by, you know, where the league
00:23:53stands after 33 rounds, that they belong there. But I also feel that it is the strongest six
00:24:02teams in the league this season who are up there. And a really good opportunity to just
00:24:09go head-to-head in some really, really interesting games.
00:24:12Who's winning?
00:24:15Hearts.
00:24:17Just Hearts, no score, nothing.
00:24:19You want to score a line as well?
00:24:20Yeah, we've only done it for the last 38 weeks.
00:24:22No, I thought you were going to compare it to me. 2-1 Hearts.
00:24:252-1 Hearts. Killian?
00:24:26I'm going to go 1-0.
00:24:29I hope he's right.
00:24:30I'm going to go 2-1 Hearts and try and jinx them.
00:24:33Yeah.
00:24:34I think Hearts are going to win it.
00:24:36I think Hearts are going to win it too.
00:24:37I do genuinely think Hearts need to snick it.
00:24:39Yeah, by the way, Ruffy, I just thought I'd tell you yesterday on the show we did six
00:24:43games, predictions, scores and points total.
00:24:48So, the Bolgian has...
00:24:51He's got Hearts.
00:24:52Would you go Hearts to win it?
00:24:53Celtic second, Rangers third?
00:24:55Yeah.
00:24:56Hearts to win it by two.
00:24:57He's got Celtic to win it.
00:25:00And I think...
00:25:02I went Celtic, Rangers Hearts.
00:25:04Yeah.
00:25:04Two points ahead of Rangers.
00:25:05Yeah.
00:25:06And again, the swing could come in May 10th with the Celtic Rangers game.
00:25:11Okay.
00:25:12Celtic, we'll talk Rangers coming up for their Sunday match with Falkert.
00:25:16We'll hear from Danny Roll and John McGlynn, the Falkert boss.
00:25:20Celtic against St Mirren.
00:25:22Martin Eil has confirmed that Julian Araujo will not be back.
00:25:26Eight weeks.
00:25:27Picked up another injury while he was down at Bournemouth.
00:25:31So, he's out.
00:25:32Donovan, Colby Donovan's got a hamstring problem.
00:25:34Alistair Johnson trained, but possibly next week for him.
00:25:38And as he was talking about it, I think he did have a laugh about the fact that there
00:25:42was a conspiracy theory because he said that used to be Celtic's, you know, sole claim
00:25:48about all these conspiracy theories about who was running Scottish football.
00:25:52Well, there was a time when Celtic fans used to complain about David Murray running Scottish
00:25:56football roughy, but now it seems to be Celtic.
00:26:00It just shows you how tense it is with the way it is this year, the three teams.
00:26:04It's a long, long time since we've had three teams.
00:26:07No pushing for it.
00:26:08It's usually a runaway, somebody with 17, 18, 19 points.
00:26:12So, it just shows you how competitive it's been this year and that's what happens.
00:26:15Yeah.
00:26:16They've got a better goal difference to make up though, Kelly and Celtic, if they are going
00:26:19to really push it.
00:26:20If it got down to the wire, Rangers better goal difference might prove crucial.
00:26:25Yeah, definitely.
00:26:26I think, is it nine?
00:26:27Nine goals are behind Rangers?
00:26:29Yeah.
00:26:29That's why I think the strikers are going to be massive between now and the end of the
00:26:32season.
00:26:33For a league that's been so tight, I just think the chances are there for it if it does go
00:26:37down to goal difference.
00:26:39I think whoever's striker is converting chances and turning games where, like Celtic against
00:26:44Dundee there at the weekend, they should have been two or three nil up before Dundee
00:26:48score.
00:26:50Because they haven't challenged them.
00:26:52Yeah, and that just all adds up and I just think the team that gets a striker finishing
00:26:56off every chance that's served up to them is going to go on and win it.
00:27:02You two strikers will know what it takes, the pressure that comes with any side that you
00:27:08play with.
00:27:08Do you think Ian Acho has to start to give Martin that chance?
00:27:13I think so, yeah, definitely.
00:27:14I think he seems to be, when he is available and fit, I think he is Martin O'Neill's preferred
00:27:19number one striker.
00:27:20It's just whatever the fitness or injury issues are, I don't know.
00:27:25But he looked sharp when he came on against Dundee, looked hungry, looks like he was back
00:27:30and looking forward to getting himself back out there as well.
00:27:35I don't think he needed a goal for confidence.
00:27:38I think he looks like quite a confident player.
00:27:40And I think he's their best, all out, most complete striker to have at the minute.
00:27:46What age do you think he is?
00:27:47I know what age he is.
00:27:48Yeah.
00:27:4929.
00:27:49Yeah.
00:27:5029.
00:27:51I know.
00:27:51I know Ruffie's got you at 59, but he's 29.
00:27:56I can't believe he's still in his 20s.
00:27:59I thought he was about 35.
00:28:01He came into the...
00:28:03Man City when he was about 17 or something.
00:28:05Yeah.
00:28:05He came into the Dundee press conference and said he's fit.
00:28:07You know, he's fit because, listen, I don't want to go back over it with him.
00:28:10Celtic signed him when he wasn't fit.
00:28:12And you know what it's like.
00:28:12If you're not fit and you're trying in the middle of a season and you haven't had a pre-season,
00:28:16you're struggling.
00:28:17You're playing catch up the whole season and you're just never quite there.
00:28:21And you're just like, you know yourself, Tom.
00:28:24Like when you're just not fully fit, you don't have confidence either.
00:28:29There's nothing worse than when someone plays a ball up to you and you just have nothing in your legs.
00:28:33And you're trying to do stuff.
00:28:34Your legs and body just doesn't want to do it.
00:28:37And then that feeds into everything else.
00:28:40You're losing the ball.
00:28:41Your touch is off.
00:28:42The crowd gets on you.
00:28:44Yeah.
00:28:44And then you're just, it's, there's nothing worse than just trying to chase your fitness.
00:28:48Yeah.
00:28:49Just dying to ask you about this because obviously Celtic's so pertinent with it.
00:28:53Johnny Kenny was a man who tried and tried to convince the Celtic fans.
00:28:58And again, I think Tanner Dice when they lost up there was the final straw with big, big chances.
00:29:04When you were playing at Celtic, what was in your mind, you know, constantly?
00:29:09Was there a real pressure every day thinking, if I get picked, you know, I've got to, I've got to
00:29:14score.
00:29:14I've got to do something here.
00:29:16Eh, I've never really been like a goal hungry striker.
00:29:21I've always been, I've always think if I play well first and foremost and the team wins, well, like, well
00:29:29done.
00:29:29If I score, brilliant.
00:29:30But I'm never, I've never been like greedy for goals.
00:29:33I think if I'm doing everything right, I should score and I should get chances and always disappointed if I
00:29:39miss chances.
00:29:41But yeah, something that I never really had.
00:29:43Yeah.
00:29:43Which is, probably shows.
00:29:47But did you feel?
00:29:48How my career went, yeah.
00:29:49Don't worry about it, you're in good hands here.
00:29:51But did you feel that pressure?
00:29:55Pressure, I'd feel it if I went to a new club.
00:29:57Right.
00:29:59If I went to a new club, it was always that pressure of just get your first goal and then
00:30:03you're like, it's more so for, I find it more for the other players.
00:30:06See, once you get your first goal and you think, right, you're kind of like almost, you're accepted into the
00:30:10team now.
00:30:11You're like, right, he's a player, he can, we've got something good here.
00:30:15Yeah.
00:30:15And then just the longer that goes on, you're just like, God, is this ever going to come?
00:30:19Like, promise you, I'm a good player, kind of thing.
00:30:23It was interesting hearing Sinasalo.
00:30:25Sometimes players utter a line that gives you an indication of what they really think about the previous manager.
00:30:31And Sinasalo, who's in the press conference today, said, we're facing a St Mirren's side that passes the ball more
00:30:37than they previously did.
00:30:40Which I took as, oh, do you think Stephen Robinson's side were fairly direct?
00:30:46Yeah, they definitely do. I think that Craig McLeish, he wants to try and play through teams.
00:30:51You've seen it against Aberdeen, he played a lot of good football, created opportunities.
00:30:54And I think that's probably a more enjoyable system and way to play than just lumping it.
00:31:00You know, Curtincelli will tell you as well, if you're a striker and balls are just getting fired up to
00:31:03you, you know, it's difficult.
00:31:05If you're trying to play through teams and you're getting balls slipped through and you're getting crosses in, then it's
00:31:09easier to play in.
00:31:09And I think that some of them will cause Celtic problems. I think they've got enough in their locker to
00:31:13cause Celtic problems.
00:31:14But you just think with obviously the Green Brigade back in, I think it's going to give the players a
00:31:18massive boost, just the atmosphere.
00:31:20And you would just think that Celtic have got a chance to go and get momentum now.
00:31:24Obviously Alistair Johnson could be back after the split.
00:31:27Arnie Engels is rumoured to be back after the split.
00:31:29They're two massive players for Celtic in key areas.
00:31:31So, yeah, all of a sudden from Celtic thinking, I've done the 80 game, they've blown it.
00:31:36You're now thinking, the way the fixtures are lying, players back from injury, Green Brigade back.
00:31:41You're just thinking there's maybe a wee bit of momentum starting to build again at Celtic.
00:31:44St Mirren have got something to play for, Ruffy. You can't rule that out.
00:31:48I think, I know what Tam's saying there, that it's good to play good football.
00:31:52But I think early on when St Mirren were having the good fortune, they played to their strength.
00:31:57They played to the two big boys up front and get it up to them as quick as possible.
00:32:01They were big boys, they were causing problems, they were bullying people.
00:32:05They got a lot of success through that and then it sort of petered off a wee bit.
00:32:09But if Celtic get back to the possession that they used to have at Parkhead, like 72%, 82%, 20 shots
00:32:17at goal.
00:32:18They're going to hit the back of the net.
00:32:20As I've said all along, this home advantage now, everybody's thinking a wee bit more of it.
00:32:25Celtic, four at home, two away. Rangers, two at home, four away.
00:32:30You know, that psychologically goes, because Rangers away from home haven't been as prolific as they've been at home.
00:32:37So that for me swayed it for me in Celtic's favour, but they're still going to go out and win
00:32:41the games.
00:32:41And just before I get your prediction on it, I'm not so sure, Cillian, that Celtic are that type of
00:32:48side now.
00:32:49Because under Brendan Rodgers you knew it was going to be pass, pass, pass, possession consistently.
00:32:54Martin's kind of a, Martin's trying to work miracles with a squad that really, you know, if I'm being brutally
00:33:00honest about it,
00:33:01if Martin Ail had his way, a good 60% of them would be shunted right out the door.
00:33:05Yeah, I think you could see when he first came in, there was a real change in Celtic's intensity and
00:33:12purpose in going forward as soon as they could.
00:33:15Every time, like they won a free kick or a throw and they were straight away getting foot on the
00:33:19ball and just playing for the forward pass.
00:33:22And then I think over time, I think probably Sean Maloney's kind of possession style based football has probably crept
00:33:31in a little bit more in some games.
00:33:32And I think it's just taking advantage of playing at home, I think tomorrow will be massive for them.
00:33:41They certainly had, you know, chances that they created and looked as if they were more fluent in that first
00:33:49half against Dundee where they should have been on their side.
00:33:52So give us your prediction then, Sam.
00:33:54Yeah, listen, I don't see Celtic, Rangers or Hearts battering teams three and four in there.
00:34:00I think it's, you've seen the games last week, they're very, very tense.
00:34:03I think Celtic will win, but it'll be narrow, I think 2-1 to Celtic.
00:34:06Ruffie?
00:34:06I think it all depends on getting back to Celtic, used to scoring the first five, ten minutes and then
00:34:11dominating the whole game.
00:34:12If they were to do that, I would go on for them to win maybe 3-0, but be a
00:34:17bit tighter than that, 2-0.
00:34:18You clearly haven't been in a Celtic game of late, Ruffie, because when they scored up against Dundee,
00:34:23I looked at it after seven minutes and I thought, right, now there's pain for another 67 minutes for the
00:34:29Celtic fans because they just don't kill teams.
00:34:31They were still on the front foot, they were still creating chances, there was, goalkeeper was making saves, there was
00:34:37misses getting missed.
00:34:38You know, they were still on the front foot, they weren't like backing off, they were still going for it.
00:34:43And particularly at home, you know, the style of play they have, getting the ball, getting the ball wide, getting
00:34:48it in the box.
00:34:49If they're free flowing, I can't see it, I'm going to go 2-0.
00:34:522-0.
00:34:53I think, I think just with the whole momentum shift kind of going towards Celtic, I think the fans being
00:35:01back will be massive,
00:35:02the atmosphere will be totally different.
00:35:05And although I'm kind of like basing it off, of their performances, I don't know why I'm saying this scoring,
00:35:10but I think Celtic will win 3-0.
00:35:11Okay.
00:35:13Don't worry, we'll have you back on to stay leather, yeah.
00:35:17So Falkirk against Rangers.
00:35:19And again, Danny Roll, disappointment isn't Nadiri, but Danny Roll, the Rangers manager, has been speaking this morning about the
00:35:28split.
00:35:29And I think he's well happy with this because he thinks it's still going to go right down to the
00:35:35wire.
00:35:35Everything is possible, yeah. I said this before. I think the last match day is interesting to see.
00:35:45I said many times last match day, and with this picture, it's really possible that all the three teams play
00:35:54on the last final match day for the title.
00:35:57Hibbs at home. As ever, I'm talking out of that, and the reason I'm talking out of Danny Roll talking
00:36:06is because he's never prepared for anything.
00:36:08He doesn't prepare since I met him 13 years ago, Killian. There's no preparation whatsoever.
00:36:14Now this is me who used to work with Davey Proven, Jeremy and Hugh Cavens, the law, they prepared, not
00:36:19Hibbs.
00:36:21I like to get it right. I like you to get it right.
00:36:24You should know it, Ruffy.
00:36:26You should know it before you come in.
00:36:27No.
00:36:28How do I know what I'm going to ask him?
00:36:30It's usually something.
00:36:32And by the way, thank God I downloaded it all because I knew he was going to do it.
00:36:37But this is, Rangers, I don't think at the end of the day, he'll not be saying that to the
00:36:45players.
00:36:46So what? You've got four away games. They knew they were going to be away to Harps and Celtic anyway.
00:36:51The point I'm making is the last four away games haven't been particularly impressive.
00:36:55They've been impressive at home, but not away from home.
00:36:58Yeah, but they're still in the mix, Ruffy.
00:37:00Yeah, I know.
00:37:00They're in the mix. This is a team that's been 13 points behind Harps.
00:37:05Totally out of it. The amount of times, never mind PLZ soccer,
00:37:09the amount of times the BBC pundits, the Sky pundits, your radio pundits, your newspapers.
00:37:16Honestly, there was a game that I went to and I went into the press room.
00:37:22And there are certain journalists who are, you know, who are flag wavers.
00:37:27And I thought I was going to have to talk them down off the edge of a cliff
00:37:30because they just thought Rangers are gone, you know.
00:37:33And I'm thinking, calm down. There's such a long way to go for so many of the teams.
00:37:37There's twists and turns ahead.
00:37:40And he's managed just to keep them going, Ruffy.
00:37:43And it doesn't matter. By the way, as Kenny Doglish said,
00:37:46it doesn't say when you win the title or you win a game,
00:37:49by the way, we want to highlight here in the brackets, Rangers rubbish.
00:37:54It doesn't say that. It just tells you if they've won.
00:37:56And that's all the Rangers fans are caring about.
00:37:58Apart from a COVID season.
00:38:00Yeah.
00:38:01That also gets asterisked.
00:38:04Yeah.
00:38:05Killian, don't get too early into the witness protection scheme.
00:38:10Not from me.
00:38:11No, no, I know that.
00:38:14But it doesn't. I mean, strangely enough, the funny thing was
00:38:19that that was one of the things that was labelled against Steven Gerrard
00:38:22that the players didn't need the pressure of the fans.
00:38:25Hmm.
00:38:26Because that's where the tenseness comes from, isn't it?
00:38:28I mean, I said the Hearts fans up to 70 minutes.
00:38:32You know, the other week we were at Tynecastle against Dundee.
00:38:3570 minutes, you could feel the tension in the stadium.
00:38:38And then 76 minutes, I think, in it goes.
00:38:41Mack and T scores.
00:38:42The whole place is bouncing.
00:38:44With Rangers against Dundee United, you know,
00:38:47I think our reporter said the first half hour, tense.
00:38:51You know?
00:38:52Yeah, I think they are.
00:38:53Even Rangers at 3-2 last week,
00:38:56you could feel the tens coming from the side.
00:38:59And it's going to be the same with every team.
00:39:02You know, that's why you're saying
00:39:03you're better getting into a two-goal lead sooner rather than later.
00:39:06You know, and everybody can relax a wee bit and get behind the sides.
00:39:09So, no, I mean, a lot of Celtic Rangers have been accused of
00:39:13when going behind, certain players can't respond
00:39:18to playing in front of 60,000 supporters breathing down your neck
00:39:22and not having the ability to turn it round.
00:39:25They've changed that a wee bit now, but it's still there to be labelled at.
00:39:28So, all these games that are coming up will be very noticeable if you go behind,
00:39:35you know, how they react to that happening.
00:39:38Okay, Ruffy, for the benefit of yourself, I'm now going to relay to you the games.
00:39:43Now, obviously, they've got Falkirk, which is a tough test.
00:39:46So, that's the first thing that Rangers have got.
00:39:49And then, they've got a home game tomorrow, which is equally as tough.
00:39:53And then, Rangers, after that, have got a game at Tyne Castle on May 4th, Monday.
00:40:01That's the half-five kickoff at Tyne Castle.
00:40:04And Celtic away.
00:40:05And then, of course...
00:40:07Hearts away, Celtic away, back to back.
00:40:09So, that's what they're facing.
00:40:13Yeah, but in saying that, I mean, to twist that,
00:40:15Rangers will say we've been there before and we've won.
00:40:18Well, exactly.
00:40:19You know, so you can turn it whatever way you want.
00:40:22You've got to go out on the day and do it.
00:40:23Yeah, I think he's done a marvellous job, Killian, because I don't think it's completely his side.
00:40:32I think he's inherited a lot of the side that Russell Martin couldn't get a trick out of.
00:40:37He's got them organised.
00:40:39He's tweaked it a little.
00:40:40And suddenly, Rangers fans now, I think, believe they can win this.
00:40:45Yeah.
00:40:46He's come in, done a great job, steadied the ship.
00:40:50Got them back up to where they are now.
00:40:52I just think this team, as has been probably since Gerrard left,
00:40:59always find they get themselves to a certain position,
00:41:01build momentum, go on a run, and then when it really matters, start to fall short.
00:41:07And I think that's probably going to be their biggest test this season.
00:41:10They've gotten up to this point now.
00:41:12I think at some stage, each team is going to be top between now and the end of the season.
00:41:17And it's just whatever team can get there and then stay there and probably even kick on more.
00:41:22Yeah.
00:41:22And the worst possible thing for the top three teams is the other teams are all going to be kingmakers
00:41:30in this time
00:41:32because Falkirk at their stadium is bouncing.
00:41:36They've got the majority of their fans are there and they're on that pitch, which they like.
00:41:42And they've got players that can hurt you.
00:41:44Yeah, they have.
00:41:45And this is going to be a really, really tough test for Rangers at the weekend.
00:41:47I think you look at, we're talking about players of the year.
00:41:50I think probably one of the best wide players has been Calvin Miller at Falkirk.
00:41:54I think obviously you've got Barney Stewart there as well, who's been excellent.
00:41:57So they've got some players in that team that can cause Rangers problems.
00:42:00And you're right, that club is just on the up at the minute.
00:42:04It's on the crest of a waiver in a semi-final against Unfermline,
00:42:06who they'll be big favourites to get to a Scottish Cup final.
00:42:09And that whole squad and the majority of that squad came from League One.
00:42:13So League One, Championship, they've got a great bond together.
00:42:16And he's added bits and pieces, you know, some promising young players from Lone and Lone from down south.
00:42:21So that's a really, really tough game for Rangers at the weekend.
00:42:24And I think Hibs are playing well at the minute as well.
00:42:27They're starting to hit form, obviously Motherwell as well.
00:42:29So it's different from previous years when you could see a team maybe just creeping into the top six
00:42:34and you think, that's three points.
00:42:35I think if Celtic go to Hibs or Rangers go to Hibs or they play Motherwell,
00:42:39you're thinking, that's not guaranteed.
00:42:42It's the first time in a long time where every team in the top six will contribute to the top
00:42:49six.
00:42:49There's no team that's just there that is kind of going to be an easy game.
00:42:51Nobody's going to lose every game.
00:42:53Yeah.
00:42:53I mean, that's the key to it.
00:42:55I think that's the joy of it.
00:42:56And as you said, it's not necessarily at times, you know, top drawer football.
00:43:02I think our standard in the league has dropped.
00:43:05But the one thing that I would say about the two of those teams,
00:43:09possibly three with Hibs because they could make a late run here,
00:43:12is the fact that those three teams, Falkirk and Motherwell have played the best football this season.
00:43:18Yeah, definitely. I think if Motherwell hadn't been the way they are this season,
00:43:23all the talk is probably about John McGinn and Falkirk and how well they've done
00:43:28and then doing so in the style of football that they've been doing it.
00:43:33And then like Hibs, Hibs is a weird one this season.
00:43:35They've just not really talked about them at all, just quietly got along and real under the radar
00:43:41and then suddenly have had on point on paper a better season than they did last year.
00:43:47Yeah. And they could make a weird one.
00:43:48Weird one, yeah.
00:43:49Yeah, it's three points behind Motherwell as well.
00:43:51Yeah. We'll talk about that next.
00:43:53But John McGlynn, you mentioned that last week I watched Calvin Miller
00:43:58and I just thought he was just magnificent against Motherwell, really put them to the sword.
00:44:04I asked John McGlynn because I think managers understand scouts, players understand levels
00:44:11and he thought Calvin Miller was definitely one to take with Scotland because he gave them an option.
00:44:16Somebody asked him in the press conference today about Barney Stewart
00:44:21because Barney Stewart has been banging in the goals.
00:44:24He's had a fabulous season.
00:44:26Hard to believe he was playing university football over a year ago
00:44:29but John McGlynn, the Falkirk boss, was asked if Barney Stewart has made a late run enough to get in
00:44:35the Scotland squad.
00:44:36It might just come a little bit too soon for Barney
00:44:40but if he continues to score goals between now and then, why, you know, why would it?
00:44:46And Calvin was sticking out last week and he has done all the season top assists in the Premiership.
00:44:52That doesn't go for nothing, does it? Can you know what I mean?
00:44:55He's been pretty come up with a full cup team and just won the championship.
00:45:00He just came to League One to be where he is, speaks volumes for him.
00:45:05Yeah, Barney Stewart. Incredible, isn't it?
00:45:07Yeah, no, he's been brilliant. That's why I mentioned him about player of the year.
00:45:12Sorry, young player of the year.
00:45:14I agree it's probably too late.
00:45:16I don't think Steve Clarke, as we've seen, isn't the type of manager to kind of make any sort of
00:45:22rash decisions
00:45:23or throw guys in out of nowhere.
00:45:27I think possibly one for after the World Cup
00:45:30or could potentially be a different manager who will have different ideas,
00:45:34who will be more open to bringing in younger players and untested players.
00:45:39But no, he's done brilliantly. I didn't know anything about him really.
00:45:42And then it's hard not to be aware of him now.
00:45:45Yeah.
00:45:46Do you...
00:45:48What gets you to sit down and watch a game?
00:45:51Do you like watching Scottish football? Are you that type of person?
00:45:54Do you like Champions League? Do you like English football?
00:45:57What floats your boat?
00:45:59If I'm getting paid to do it, I'll go and watch a game.
00:46:01Yeah.
00:46:05You've got a big future ahead of you, by the way.
00:46:12That's fantastic. Excellent.
00:46:14And for the benefit of producers at the BBC and Sky and everybody,
00:46:18he is available, I'm his agent.
00:46:21That's absolutely brilliant.
00:46:22But is there anything...
00:46:23I mean, I am looking forward to it.
00:46:25I'm sitting and saying to myself,
00:46:27fuck it Rangers, I'm going to sit down and watch that.
00:46:29That is going to be a great game to watch because of the contrast.
00:46:32No, I'm bad for actually sitting down and watching a game.
00:46:35I'll have all games on.
00:46:38If a game doesn't tell you, I'll put it on and watch it.
00:46:40But I'm kind of watching it on my phone.
00:46:43I'll have it on.
00:46:44Yeah.
00:46:44And then I'll talk as if I've watched it.
00:46:48But if I'm going and covering a game, I actually enjoy where I'm co-commenting on a game.
00:46:56I enjoy really having to focus in and watch it and then I'll pick up things.
00:47:01But even like I could be playing a game and come off and someone will ask me,
00:47:05what formation did the other team play?
00:47:06And I couldn't tell you.
00:47:08Yeah, none of that comes into my head.
00:47:10You don't watch a game.
00:47:11Do you watch a game then?
00:47:12Let me try and pick your brain on this.
00:47:14Do you watch a game and think I'm watching the way that striker makes his runs?
00:47:19If I'm specifically watching a game for that, I can pick that out.
00:47:25But generally, I'll stick a game on.
00:47:28I have to have interest in the game.
00:47:29Yeah.
00:47:30Like if there's two Scottish teams playing on a Wednesday night and there's a Champions League game on with,
00:47:37I don't know, any Champions League, an English team now because I find them all quite boring games.
00:47:42Yeah.
00:47:42I'll watch a Scottish championship game.
00:47:46Just because there's guys I know, there's teams I know.
00:47:49I'm exactly...
00:47:49You're talking to the man who absolutely...
00:47:51I'm exactly...
00:47:52You won't know this, but Stevie Clark's still looking for players for his squad.
00:47:56He's going to Broadwood at the weekend.
00:47:58He's heard there's a couple of players performing, midfield and striker.
00:48:03So...
00:48:04Yeah.
00:48:05See.
00:48:05One of...
00:48:06It won't take long for you to work out, one of them has been training like an absolute
00:48:10madman.
00:48:12Because he was...
00:48:13About three months ago, he was looking quite chunky.
00:48:16Almost...
00:48:17Almost...
00:48:18Almost...
00:48:18Almost like my twin brother.
00:48:20But he's now...
00:48:21I mean, he's now in a medium shirt.
00:48:23He's looking dangerous because we're playing in a charity match for Alzheimer's Scotland at Broadwood on Sunday at one o
00:48:33'clock.
00:48:34And there's a whole lot of ex-footballers.
00:48:36Mmm.
00:48:37I did have a look at the opposition we're playing and Jim Goodwin's playing, so...
00:48:41I'm standing with him.
00:48:41I'm taking my shinnies.
00:48:43Yeah.
00:48:43Just in case.
00:48:44But...
00:48:44But nevertheless, he's looking...
00:48:46He's looking dangerous for it.
00:48:48He's...
00:48:48He's obviously put the work in, Kelly, to try and...
00:48:51It's only half an hour each way, so surely we can play for 10, 15 minutes.
00:48:54Yeah.
00:48:55Absolutely.
00:48:55I've not played 11 a side for...
00:48:5712 years.
00:48:58Full 11 v 11?
00:48:59Aye, it's 11 v 11, aye.
00:49:00So...
00:49:01I've been playing fives, but it's a different kettle of fish on a big part.
00:49:05Yeah.
00:49:05You actually run.
00:49:06To be fair, the last time I played at Broadwood, if it hadn't been for Oni Coyle, Raffia,
00:49:09I'd have won Man of the Match, but he'd scored five within 20 minutes.
00:49:14Here you are, Oni.
00:49:15Lethal.
00:49:16Absolutely magnificent.
00:49:17Well, I hope Tamsin is starting my loving.
00:49:20Are you coming?
00:49:20Yeah, yeah.
00:49:21You're going to come?
00:49:22Yeah, but...
00:49:22Will you stay for long?
00:49:23I'm not...
00:49:24If he's not playing, I'm...
00:49:25I'm not hanging about.
00:49:26Alec McLeish, the manager of my team who gave me my debut at Hibs.
00:49:29So surely...
00:49:30He's got to...
00:49:31He's got to have me...
00:49:32You're on the page.
00:49:33You're on the page.
00:49:34Surely he's got to say, lead the team out, Tam.
00:49:36Get the armband, please.
00:49:38Surely.
00:49:39See if he thumps me at the start.
00:49:40No, no.
00:49:41He said to me, I said, are you coming, right?
00:49:43And he said, I'm definitely coming.
00:49:45He says, because I just want to get in and say, Tam's on the bench.
00:49:48I know.
00:49:50He's definitely coming with a thump.
00:49:51He's just a hater.
00:49:52Absolutely, you are.
00:49:54He just wants to see people fail.
00:49:56And I have to say, Killian, he's like that.
00:49:59Because he came to watch me play in a game and I hit one from 30 yards into the roof
00:50:02of the net and he got in his car and drove away.
00:50:04I mean, honestly.
00:50:05I can't take a chance of doing it again.
00:50:09So, if you get along to Broadwood, it's a really good cause for Alzheimer's Scotland and Stuart Taylor really worked
00:50:15hard with all his backroom team to try and raise as much money as possible for a brilliant cause.
00:50:20And ever more so now when you think of some of the lives of some great footballers down through the
00:50:26years who are suffering not only from Alzheimer's but from dementia as well.
00:50:30So, it's just a brilliant, hopefully a brilliant day.
00:50:33There's lots of famous footballers who are going to be here.
00:50:36So, I think for the people who like to get autographs and chat to these people, it'll be great.
00:50:42Tam and I will probably just go unnoticed coming off the park.
00:50:45We don't care.
00:50:47We've got a chance to speak to Big Egg.
00:50:48Yeah, they are.
00:50:50He's panicking already.
00:50:52Yeah.
00:50:52We've got a free strip and a free track.
00:50:56What more can you ask for?
00:50:57Aberdeen against Hibs.
00:50:59Steven Robinson has been talking about, this is an interesting topic, the Aberdeen boss.
00:51:04Steven Robinson is talking about what he's had to do with the players that he's inherited.
00:51:10My job's tried to be this week to be positive with the players, to try and get them to believe
00:51:14in what they have.
00:51:15You know, not so long ago, at the end of last season, they were lifting a cup and you have
00:51:20to try and remind people of there is good players there.
00:51:24And you have to get that belief within the team.
00:51:26You know, it's a small little tweak since I've come in to try and get people to speak.
00:51:29We've got 16 different nationalities at this football club, which is incredible.
00:51:32And everyone's got different cultures and different ideas.
00:51:35And it's just to try and get people together a little bit more, you know, to put the social area
00:51:38into one place instead of being in three different places.
00:51:41There wasn't a social area, actually.
00:51:42So when I say social area, they sit and they have a coffee, they speak to each other, they get
00:51:46to know each other.
00:51:47So, you know, we're hoping that'll help when you're in the trenches.
00:51:50You need to know a little bit about each other and try and fight your way out of it.
00:51:55That's interesting, isn't it? Because basically he's saying that when he got there, there was cliques.
00:52:00And he's got to try and get everybody together and get that sense of, listen, we're in a battle.
00:52:05You know, your teammate here might come from a different country.
00:52:08Get to know him. We need to fight together.
00:52:10Yeah, I think it's a hard thing to force, to force kind of team bonding.
00:52:17If there was cliques there already, I think they're going to be there anyway.
00:52:22I think he's got a tough job on his hands if that's the issue.
00:52:28Probably their biggest problem is they signed players who were coming and they knew they were guaranteed.
00:52:33They're playing European football.
00:52:35They didn't sign players to come for a relegation battle in Scotland.
00:52:41And that's probably been one of their biggest problems.
00:52:43They just don't look like a team that has that kind of fight or togetherness that you could see.
00:52:49You could probably see his St Mirren team had.
00:52:51They all really worked and fought for him.
00:52:55You just don't really see it with the Aberdeen team.
00:52:57Who do you think is going to be in that playoff place?
00:52:59It's between them, St Mirren and Kilmarnock.
00:53:02I think it's Aberdeen.
00:53:03I think Kilmarnock you look like you're not surprised if they go and win a game.
00:53:08They've got a style of play.
00:53:09They've got a decent bit of confidence I feel about them.
00:53:13St Mirren are getting a few good results.
00:53:16Aberdeen seem to be the team that are just on the way down.
00:53:20Here's a bigger question.
00:53:21When you look at the championship teams that potentially could be in the playoff,
00:53:24I know it's a long slog for them, but can you see them taking an Aberdeen?
00:53:28No.
00:53:30I think whatever team finishes 11th will be too much for the potential championship teams coming up.
00:53:37I think it's so hard for the team that just finishes second or just misses out on winning the championship.
00:53:45At the minute if it's Partick Thistle, if that goes to the last two games or even last game,
00:53:52I find it very hard for that team who's been chasing the potential of winning the league
00:53:57to then lose everything and then end up to go again.
00:54:02Like you're saying, it's very, very hard.
00:54:05Yeah.
00:54:06When you get out of this studio and off that couch, you will be getting a call from Neil Lennon
00:54:12saying,
00:54:13is that right?
00:54:14We pumped Aberdeen 3-0.
00:54:17And if we win that playoff, Dunfermline suddenly will fancy their chances, won't they, Ruffey?
00:54:23Dunfermline will be preoccupied with the cup final.
00:54:27Get back in his good books very quickly.
00:54:30There you go.
00:54:32Dunfermline will have the cup final and then another two games before the game,
00:54:35we get to whoever it is.
00:54:37But momentum for me is everything.
00:54:40You know, and obviously Dunfermline do get the cup final and they do get into the playoffs.
00:54:45I just feel, going back to Partick Thistle, if they don't get up there, it's here we go again.
00:54:51Yeah.
00:54:52Playoff again, disappointment.
00:54:53Playoff again, disappointment.
00:54:55That's the thing they would have to handle.
00:54:57Aberdeen versus Hibbs.
00:54:58Score.
00:54:59I'm going to go Aberdeen to eventually get something.
00:55:02It's interesting the manager identified right away what he thought the problem was.
00:55:06I mean, if he's sorted it out, it might help them.
00:55:08I think they could get a draw.
00:55:10One each.
00:55:11Okay.
00:55:12Killian?
00:55:13I think Hibbs.
00:55:14I fancy Hibbs.
00:55:15Okay.
00:55:16So I think Aberdeen are in trouble.
00:55:18I don't know how he's going to do it.
00:55:20It's certainly not his fault.
00:55:21I think they'll be looking at the board the longer it goes on.
00:55:25Dundee United against Livingston.
00:55:27In a strange sort of way, everybody considers Livingston gone.
00:55:30Dundee United just want to finish best of the rest.
00:55:32Yes.
00:55:33There's not a lot on this game, to be honest with you.
00:55:35But I must say, Livingston have seriously improved in recent weeks.
00:55:39I think you've seen, even the games that they've lost, they've been narrow.
00:55:43And they've drawn, obviously, drawn against Rangers, drawn against Hearts.
00:55:47They're starting to get a tune.
00:55:48It's too late for Livingston now.
00:55:49It's too late for them.
00:55:50I think they're going to finish bottom.
00:55:51But I can see a wee upset here.
00:55:53I just think the way Livingston are playing Dundee United might have the flip-flops on
00:55:57for the summer.
00:55:57They've not got a lot to play for.
00:55:59I don't think they're going to be in any trouble in the play-off.
00:56:01And I think Livingston just, I think they're coming closer to getting a win.
00:56:05That first win.
00:56:05And I think they'll win.
00:56:06Wow.
00:56:07If I can give you one modicum of hope on this, why people still battle is because
00:56:12there's still money in the scale from sixth to sixth.
00:56:16I've been in that situation, I don't know, Killing maybe as well, where you're in that bottom
00:56:20six.
00:56:20I was in it a couple of times with Hibbs, and you're maybe seventh or eighth, and you've
00:56:24not really got anything to play for.
00:56:26I know you're saying it's money and positions and all that, but I just think there's probably
00:56:29more hunger amongst the Livingston players just to get a win, because they've no win for
00:56:32so long.
00:56:33So, I think I'd be upset Livingston, I'd be able to beat them.
00:56:35It's difficult for you to relate to it as well, because if you'd signed for Motherwell,
00:56:39you said you'd have been playing top six football, but then you signed for Dundee and get relegated
00:56:45with him.
00:56:46That's the type of, you think he's a mercenary.
00:56:48There's your ultimate mercenary.
00:56:50He'd be sitting in the dressing room wondering what team he's going to go to next year.
00:56:56Dundee United at Livingston to win, or are you going Killian?
00:56:59I think Dundee United.
00:57:01Yep, I'm going to home win.
00:57:02United.
00:57:02Okay, Killian against Dundee.
00:57:04The good thing is, Ruffy, Stephen Presley, Tams up at Lockheed United with myself to raise
00:57:11funds for Lockheed United with Stephen Presley on the 3rd of May up there at Lockheed United.
00:57:17It's going to be a good day.
00:57:17I'm looking forward to it.
00:57:18Tam, and you?
00:57:19Listen, I love Elvis.
00:57:20I walked under him at Falkirk.
00:57:22I thought he was a brilliant coach and I hated playing against him as a player.
00:57:24I don't know if Killian played against Elvis.
00:57:26Maybe a wee bit older, but...
00:57:28Where?
00:57:28I played with him.
00:57:29I played with him at Celtic.
00:57:30I don't think I played against him.
00:57:31I played with him at Celtic.
00:57:32I played with him at Celtic.
00:57:33Where did you play with him?
00:57:34Celtic.
00:57:34Celtic, yeah.
00:57:35Alright, was he there at the time when Gordon Strachan brought him there?
00:57:38Yeah.
00:57:39He's got a good big character, isn't he?
00:57:40Dry sense of humour.
00:57:41Back in 96.
00:57:43Yes.
00:57:45He wasn't even born in 96!
00:57:47Don't worry about Leather Island, it's part of the course.
00:57:49Yeah, back in 96.
00:57:51And the good thing about it, by the way, we cane him every week for his shoes.
00:57:56Oh, his gear's horrendous.
00:57:57He does not care.
00:57:58Last week I said to him, by the way, whatever you're wearing, Tam and I are texting each
00:58:01other, he's got brown hush pockets on and his gear's a nightmare.
00:58:05He came in like that to training.
00:58:06He'd come dressed like that to training.
00:58:08Real smart shoes.
00:58:10Yeah.
00:58:10Yeah.
00:58:11Very smart looking.
00:58:14Delighted that he's actually turned things around at Dundee.
00:58:16Yeah.
00:58:17I hated the way he came in.
00:58:19Fans...
00:58:20Fans wanted him to not do well, I think.
00:58:22Yeah.
00:58:23Just to be like, kind of told you so.
00:58:26I think he's done brilliantly given the pressure he was already in coming into.
00:58:31Yeah.
00:58:31Yeah.
00:58:32Absolutely.
00:58:32Okay.
00:58:33Kelly, against Dundee, who's winning?
00:58:36I fancy...
00:58:37I think Kilmarnock.
00:58:39Yeah.
00:58:39I'm going to go Dundee.
00:58:40Win each.
00:58:41I think I draw.
00:58:41Yeah.
00:58:42Oh, boy.
00:58:42Okay.
00:58:43Just before we go, I thought I'd mention a couple of quick things.
00:58:47As soon as they announced that Andy Robertson was leaving Liverpool at the end of the season,
00:58:51what a career he's had there.
00:58:53I mean, I was lucky enough to go down to his house, Ruffy, to interview him on a one-to
00:58:59-one
00:58:59basis.
00:59:01What a house.
00:59:02What a trophy room.
00:59:03What a man cave it was.
00:59:05I mean, some of the trophies that he had in there were unbelievable, Ruffy.
00:59:09Yeah.
00:59:09Well, you just have to look at the history where he started.
00:59:11Obviously, Queen's Park and moving up to Dundee United and then to England.
00:59:16It's just been a progression of getting to the top and getting into that Liverpool team
00:59:20and holding his own for so many years is tremendous.
00:59:23So, he can hold his head high wherever he ends up.
00:59:26I still think he's better than Kierkegaard when he's 32.
00:59:29Yeah.
00:59:30I think any time he's played this season, he's looked like, are Liverpool going to offer
00:59:35him something again.
00:59:37But no, like Alan's saying there, he's a top career.
00:59:41He's won pretty much all he could win.
00:59:45Maybe add to it in the summer.
00:59:47I think the Fenway group, because of the mistake they made with Salah, because they've
00:59:52got this attitude that they're not going to offer older players a new contract.
00:59:56You know?
00:59:56They're going to move on.
00:59:57And this blueprint was tested with Salah.
01:00:01Salah got the money that he wanted.
01:00:03Salah's now going to be shunted out the door.
01:00:06And, of course, got a free transfer.
01:00:07So, he's going to be able to sign whatever cheque he wants.
01:00:10But for Andy Robertson, I think that's gone against him.
01:00:13Yeah.
01:00:14I think so.
01:00:14I think that obviously Salah in the previous season had a really good season and probably
01:00:18merited a new contract.
01:00:20But he's not kicked the ball this season, let's be honest.
01:00:21He's been poor and he's leaving.
01:00:22And, yeah, I think they've probably got it in their head.
01:00:2532, 33.
01:00:26They want to be giving people two years.
01:00:27I think Andy will be looking maybe for a two-year contract somewhere.
01:00:30Whether that's still in England.
01:00:31I still think he's capable of playing an English Premiership.
01:00:34I think Tottenham are heavy-linked in January.
01:00:37I think if he's going to come to Celtic, it's got to be in the summer.
01:00:40I don't think he'll come to Celtic at 35, 36 when he's done.
01:00:43So, it's up to him if he's got the...
01:00:45If he really is a Celtic supporter and he's thinking, I'm going to bin the money,
01:00:49he'll be at Celtic in the summer.
01:00:50Tam, when the announcement came last night, I said to myself,
01:00:56I have asked him this question.
01:00:58I have asked him it.
01:00:59So, this is what Andy Robertson had to say when I said to him,
01:01:03at the end of your contract, are you going to Celtic?
01:01:06Yeah, I ask this question a lot, you know, and I'd love to play for Celtic.
01:01:10But when I was a young boy and growing up, I always said I would give my best years to
01:01:14Celtic
01:01:15and I don't want to go there when I'm old and I'm, you know, maybe can't move as much
01:01:18and I get all my mates hating on me because I can't perform the way I maybe used to.
01:01:22So, I'd love to pull on the Celtic shirt, of course I would.
01:01:25But I don't want to be an old fart when I go up there.
01:01:28I want to be able to still play well and if I can't do that then, you know,
01:01:32I won't get my mates hating on me, that's for sure.
01:01:35It's amazing, it's amazing, isn't it?
01:01:39You know, when you get into interviews, you've got to listen to every aspect of what somebody says.
01:01:44Well, I think he's got to come in the summer then.
01:01:47I think if he comes after the summer, goes somewhere else for a year or two
01:01:50and goes to Celtic, he's going against everything that he just said there.
01:01:53He'll be done.
01:01:54I still think he could do a job, free transfer, pick your own wages.
01:01:59Definitely, I don't think he'll be at Celtic.
01:02:03I think he'll go abroad.
01:02:06I don't think it's something Celtic need either.
01:02:09Another good left-back.
01:02:11I know he's probably better than good, but left-back isn't an issue Celtic need to address, I don't think.
01:02:18And I think any money that would be going towards Andy Robertson,
01:02:21I think they're better prioritising that in other places.
01:02:25Robbie?
01:02:25Yeah, that's a good enough shout, yeah.
01:02:27Yeah, and we've seen the confusion when it's Tierney and Robertson and the Scotland team.
01:02:32You know, where do you play them?
01:02:33Do you shuffle him about?
01:02:34Where do you want them to play in their best positions?
01:02:37So it's just another complication, I think.
01:02:39Okay.
01:02:40Just quickly, they announced, Pierre Luigi Colina,
01:02:43announced that there's 170 of the top referees across the world
01:02:47that he's named for the World Cup.
01:02:49There's not one Scot in it.
01:02:51Briefly, Robbie, that tells you all you need to know.
01:02:52Not even a VAR?
01:02:53No.
01:02:54Nothing.
01:02:55Definitely no.
01:02:57No, no.
01:02:58That is a disgrace.
01:02:59We need to have a long hard look at ourselves.
01:03:01I'm going to dedicate an entire programme to that on the journals,
01:03:04because that sums it up for you.
01:03:07Anyway.
01:03:08Quiz question.
01:03:09Answer.
01:03:09That's what I'm just about to say.
01:03:11I think I'm close.
01:03:12Quiz question.
01:03:13Ruffy's hoping that Killian is indeed as old as he thinks he is.
01:03:19Killian, that photograph of you from Elite Joinery and Fire Protection,
01:03:24the quiz question was, in which year did you sign for Celtic?
01:03:29The year?
01:03:302006.
01:03:31There you are.
01:03:33That was 40 years ago.
01:03:34What age were you in that?
01:03:35So that's 2007, which would have been February.
01:03:38I think I'd just turned 18.
01:03:41I mean, that's incredible, isn't it?
01:03:42Where did you go after Celtic?
01:03:43I had a few loan moves in Scotland and then moved abroad to Bulgaria permanently.
01:03:49Did you like Bulgaria?
01:03:51No.
01:03:53No.
01:03:53The club was...
01:03:55You won a cup with BCS.
01:03:57Sofia, yeah.
01:03:57We won the cup.
01:03:58I played against them for Derry City.
01:04:00Nice, good stadium and good support.
01:04:02Yeah.
01:04:03Support.
01:04:03But I just wasn't ready for all that.
01:04:05I went over there as if I was still kind of a reserve player in Scotland.
01:04:11The whole mentality around how you live and stuff was just different.
01:04:16In what respect?
01:04:17Going out, pretty much.
01:04:19If I had a day off, I'd go out the next day.
01:04:22Or if I had a day off the next day and had enough time before a game or whatever,
01:04:27I'd go out just like I would have back here.
01:04:29And over there, it's such a big club.
01:04:31Everything you do, they know everywhere you go.
01:04:33And they're like, nah, that's not allowed.
01:04:36And I was like, oh, well, that's how it's done.
01:04:39So you're wrong, not me.
01:04:42That's not allowed.
01:04:43That's how it's done.
01:04:44That's how it's done.
01:04:45Bulgaria.
01:04:46I mean, Bulgaria.
01:04:47Sofia would have a better night out in Gliese.
01:04:49On a night out, I'm sure, we'd get to know Kilian a wee bit better with these things that he's
01:04:56telling us.
01:04:56every now and then he's just dropped a bombshell
