01:14and i put him on and i said hey i got talent and i know how to box it was
01:18that challenge and a concerted
01:19effort to turn his life around which granted selden an early release i took my experience
01:26and my time being incarcerated and i put all that together here i am today heavyweight champ of the world
01:35relying on power speed and athleticism selden won his first 18 fights 15 by knockout
01:42suddenly he was a big man in a small city besieged by the temptation of fame in less than six
01:50months
01:50time he lost to oliver mccall riddick bowe and a year later a decision to tony tuss this quarter
01:58boxers one man has to win one man has to lose that that's the rule you know so when i
02:05took those those
02:06three losses it kind of you know it kind of woke me up over the next two years a rededicated

02:15determined selden won seven straight bouts by knockout using a powerful jab to set up his opponents

06:51at a world title despite trinidad's unblemished record and a fighter who is close to being
06:55considered a great champion his chin remains a question mark he has been down but far from out
07:01tonight it's ray lovato's turn to try and knock felix trinidad off his pedestal a most formidable
07:06challenge especially when you've had just two fights in the last two years
07:11and let us take a look at the challenger californian ray lovato he won his first 20
07:16fights before suffering his first defeat it happened two fights ago as he lost a majority decision
07:21to highly regarded daryl coley for the nabf welterweight title in coley's hometown of washington dc
07:27lovato bounced back with a 10-round decision over jose luis verdugo this past may his most
07:33impressive win three fights back when he knocked out veteran roger mayweather with one punch in the
07:38second round and ferdy lovato is game but his limited experience with world-class competition
07:44could be a major factor what does he have to do to upset trinidad well with all he has against

14:05calls from ovacar and yuri boy compass in 94 even against the journeyman named anthony stevens in 93
14:10all ultimately knockout wins though for trinidad and all those guys could punch uh this guy doesn't
14:15have a very big punch record lovato is very candid and said i'm in a no-lose situation i win

14:21win more even if he looks good and loses his stock will go up but you know he's in with

14:25today and he has to bring something to the table if he's going to get respect because tito will
14:29eventually just walk right through you and look at the difference in size see how tall tito is

14:39i mean this guy he's on roller skates when he wants to be so smooth yeah trinidad not just a
14:44wufferweight a big wufferweight borderline junior middleweight yeah he's six foot he'll grow easily
14:50into junior middle full middleweight if he wants heck he could be heavyweight he's tall enough he's
14:55full and thick bobby you're talking about a lot of good fights there's a lot of great guys that
14:59terry norris is lining up to fight him that would be a great fight if it happens well you know
15:04that's
15:04part of tonight's car to showcase for both of these towns which they may be on a collision course for
15:07one
15:08another that'd be that'd be a great fight now despite the odds lovato told us he's not intimidated
15:13very very confident saying he's going to shock the world and beat to trinidad
15:19coming in now with a little bit of a looping overhand right more of a slap than a good solid
15:23punch but tito's taking his time notoriously slow starter doesn't really want to get heated up yet he's
15:29very patient just sitting outside and jamming yeah he's known to take his time starting but a terrific
15:33finisher when he gets his opponent in trouble we have seen him start deliberately
15:37then begin to establish his power seek out his range and when he finds it it's usually bad news
15:43for his opponent he's a very scientific fighter i mean he is the kind of guy that really does study
15:47somebody in the first round it's not just fooling around he's looking to see where he can come in what
15:51he can do what the other guy was going to do very good he listens to this corner very well
15:55also another
15:56mark of a good fighter tremendous punchers punches just explode very good boxer very quick he's a
16:03worker too he'll put punches together well you know he's not putting too much together right now i think
16:08he needs to get a little bit more busy throw double triple jab for a couple combinations and
16:13teslovato see what he's bringing to the table two fights ago you recall he tried to load up a little
16:17too much against rodney moore and then uh he had little or no trouble with his last opponent freddie
16:23pendleton will be KO'd in the fifth for his eighth title defense as pendleton just crumbled final seconds of
