00:03He is as when you just want to talk about like pure edge rush ability and the ability to get
00:09after the quarterback and, you know, be super athletic and explosive.
00:13That's Malachi Lawrence.
00:14I think there's still question about him being able to consistently put everything together to be a complete player on
00:21the edge.
00:22There's going to be some questions about some of the run defense stuff.
00:25And I think for some teams, the reason why he would have been lower is just a question about like
00:30the frame.
00:31Like, does the frame hold up as a guy who will ever be able to be as good against the
00:35run as you want?
00:36But, man, I think that he's you tweak a little bit of discipline stuff with him, not off the field,
00:43just on the field, like playing more discipline, playing more assignment sound.
00:47And you you hone a lot of the really high motor and a lot of the impressive bend and explosiveness.
00:53That's somebody who can top out as like a double digit sack guy.
00:57And so it's somebody who I think Christian Parker, that's if you need evidence of like Christian Parker's influence in
01:04the room, that's it's Malachi Lawrence, because I think that that was somebody that he had pretty strongly committed to
01:09is like, I, I want him not just from the photos like he's talking about there, but just in terms
01:14of like, that's a fit for what I want to do.
01:16And I don't know, they may have had like, for instance, I think there's a possibility Falk had a better
01:23overall grade than Lawrence did for them.
01:27But Christian Parker viewed it a certain way and viewed the player a certain way.
01:32And I think everybody in the organization right now is just like, we're going to trust you to build this
01:37defense that you've envisioned for yourself.
01:40And Falk ends up going to the Titans at 31.

01:46Because last time on the draft show, I heard you say that some people may have had Malachi as a
01:52second rounder early on.
01:54One team had him as a third that I know.
01:56Oh, damn.

02:01Where was he for you in relation to Falk?
02:05I was I made up my mind along with Tober Garage Door and Kyle from Frazier Roofs and Gutters who
02:12came out to the Mesquite Pluckers.
02:14And the amount, man, I wish I had the day off today.
02:18Well, not really, because I want to talk about this and celebrate, but the amount of people who came out.

03:21So for me, I had Lawrence as who all that have of them had.

03:31Parker, Falk, Howell.
03:33So those are which is basically all the first round edge rushers except Parker and Howell.
03:38Parker was thought he was going to go in the first round.
03:40He didn't.
03:40Howell was thought to be high second round.
03:43I'm sure he's going to go relatively early today.
03:46But it's also kind of dependent on what are you what are you looking for?
03:49Explain the fit of why fit wise, Christian Parker would say, yeah, five, seven other dudes, maybe better individual players
03:59or talents.
04:00This is the fit for us.
04:01So I think Parker I think Parker would have viewed Lawrence as a better player.
04:05So I think Parker does view Lawrence as above them.
04:07But I think as I think what they settled on in terms of like, I think what the group grade
04:11probably ended up being was him below a couple other guys that were on there.
04:15But Falk, for instance, Keldrick Falk, if he would have been drafted here, he would have had to have put
04:19on 10 more pounds and they were going to put him in the dirt next to Quinnen Williams and Kenny
04:23Clark.
04:24He would not have been he would have been playing a lot of run defense.
04:27And I think for Christian Parker, he looks at it and goes, you know, we got Bullard.
04:32We got Gary.
04:33We've done we've already got Kenny here filling a front that I've wanted him to play like we've done enough
04:39to address the run right now.
04:41That's not exactly what we need.
04:42I don't need an edge setting run guy here with this pick.
04:45I need somebody who can go get the quarterback.
04:47And right now I don't have anybody who just goes and gets the quarterback.

11:02Oh, it was amazing.
11:05It was like, first thing is all glory to God, but it was, it was a blessing.
11:09The dream come true.
11:10The plant football, cause I was five and always wanted to play in the NFL.
11:13So like I said, it was an amazing, something I can't even explain.
11:18No doubt about it.

11:21Malachi, you, you stayed there at UCF.
11:24You, you finished top 10 in terms of their career sack leaders, and you're one of the
11:28best players in program history.
11:29What does it mean to you and your family to now have the, the first round tag next to your
11:35name and get to live out that dream now here in Dallas?

11:39Like I said, it's a blessing, a dream come true.
11:42Like you said, I'm just ready to come in and work.
11:45But like, like you said, that first round tag, like at the beginning of this year, I just
11:51didn't even, I couldn't dream of it, but like just the work that I put in, like, like I said,

12:16Well, my relationship with coach Brim is great.
12:18I think it helped definitely a lot.
12:20Like I said, we were at UCF together.
12:23He helped us a lot with film work as well as on the field, just giving us little tips.
12:29And then like just having those one-on-one talks with him was just a great thing to have.
12:34And then just being able to have him in Dallas now, that's just, like I said, it's a great
12:39thing to have him.

12:43You know, just watching your film, you know, some guys rush with a pass rush plan and, you
12:47know, surely you do too.
12:48But just watching you, it seems like you pass rush more on field, like something happens
12:53and you just kind of react to it.
12:55You know, break down, break down how do you pass rush and put different rush moves together?
13:00Right.
13:01Like you said, it kind of comes off field and also like just game plan and watching film.
13:06And like, I believe that I have a good repertoire of moves that I can work.
13:09And so just going up against those tackles, some weeks I can't use the same moves as I
13:15could other weeks on another tackle.
13:17So it's just like having those moves also in my bag just in case a tackle gives me a different
13:24set and a different look.

14:10Who inspired you early in your career?
14:13And who are some of the players maybe in the NFL now that you've modeled your game after
14:17as you continue to grow and get to the next level?

14:21Coming into UCF, the ad rusher named Traymond Morris Brash.
14:27We called him drop.
14:28I think he definitely inspired me.
14:30Just how he practiced and the moves he would use at practice.
14:34And then like I would kind of replicate those.
14:36And then I would do them in my own little craft, in my own little way.
14:40So I'll say him.
14:41And then what was the other question?
14:43NFL players.
14:44Anybody that you modeled your game after?
14:46Right.
14:47Yeah, I like to watch Chandler Jones, Will Anderson, Daniel Hunter.
14:51I like those guys.
14:52They're different, unorthodox.
14:54And they know how to use their strengths.
14:57Have you talked with Christian Parker at all about how your usage will be in this defense
15:02moving forward throughout the process?

15:06Yeah, we talked a little bit about like I'm going to be that edge defender, edge rusher.
15:12He's getting to the quarterback, ready to play the run, ready to be started.

15:42High character, like super hard worker.
15:45And when we talk about that's why I was very clear to say when I had initially said like
15:50he's got some discipline issues, not anything off the field.
15:54Like he is apparently just gold stars off the field and really high character guy.
15:58And somebody who, as Kyle mentioned there, had the opportunity to leave UCF, didn't like
16:03stayed at UCF, wanted to stay with the program, and gets a lot of high marks from the Cowboys
16:08staff, which is familiar with him because his defensive line coach at UCF is now with
16:12the Cowboys as an assistant.
16:13So a lot of high marks for him.
16:15And the athleticism?
16:16Ridiculous.
16:17So there's a website called Math Bomb, which is Kentley Platt's website.
16:22And it takes basically every player's combine testing and tries to, by height and weight,
16:30so instead of just looking at numbers, they don't grade you as an offensive lineman against
16:33a corner.
16:34Instead, they try to look at what's your height, what's your weight, and then what is your
16:38testing for that size individual?
16:40Like how good of an athlete are you supposed to be for that?
16:42And then they create composite scores with it.
16:44So Malachi Lawrence, Math Bomb, had tweeted yesterday that he had a relative athletic
16:51score of 9.94 out of a possible 10, and this ranked 14th out of 2,257 defensive ends selected
16:59from 1987 to 2026.
17:01So you're talking about like he is a top 1% type of athlete for the position and for his
17:09size.
17:09And it shows up.
17:11Like I just tagged y'all in a cut up of Lawrence's plate.
17:14You can see like athletically it pops.
17:17It definitely shows up.

19:23tackle, especially that Caleb Banks from Florida was the first one to go, who is the most football
19:30player looking player in the draft who also can't play.
19:34CJ Allen should go early today.
19:36And then the one that surprised a lot of people, Brandon C.C.

19:40And then Colton Hood from Tennessee was like unanimously the one that surprised people the most
19:43that he did not get picked yesterday.

21:48to talk about, you know, every year it happens.
21:51So now I'm sitting here with that in the back of my mind while talking about Malachi being
21:55a freak.

22:25three, four look from Texas A&M would make sense.

22:31And then depending on if he's around at 92, I could see them going, let's go to a, get

22:37And then that may be Daylon Everett from Georgia.
22:39And so I think that those are all names that could be of interest.
22:42What do you think is more likely if you had to choose one that they use the third and
22:46fourths getting two fourths yesterday from filthy to move back to trade for a vet or move
22:53into the second?
22:56Oh, um, and, and, and, and just for capital purposes, that is doable, right?
23:02With your third and your couple of fourths or not really, is that not enough to get a
23:06second round pick?
23:07It'd be difficult, I think.
23:09So let me see here on the, on the trade chart right now, Dallas is, you got it?
23:14Dallas's pick 92 is 132 is how much it's worth.
23:16So if you want to just get into the very last pick of the second round, that's 270.
23:20So you would need to make up an additional 140 points, basically.
23:24So you'd have to trade like 112, 114.
23:27So the two highest fourths, 112, 114 and the third to just get on the very last pick of
23:32the second round.
23:32Oh, a third and two fourths.
23:36So then you wouldn't be picking it until the very end of the fourth round.

23:41But I mean, I guess it depends.
