00:00Rasheed Wallace back in the day. Is that how you feel today? We will win game two. The
00:06Garen Sheed. Tech says Pistons by 15. Guaranteed. Wade. Schwartz Creek. Pistons statement win.
00:15A beat down. K drops 40 plus. Guys, same game plan. Just don't shoot yourself in the foot
00:22with bad turnovers. Don't have Duren's worst game of the year. Garen Sheed. Pistons win.
00:29That's people who are not shaken from game one.
00:34Tech says as long as we employ JB, JD and playoff Tobias, we will never win a playoff series.
00:41And a sudden that says I don't see a path to beating the magic. They're bigger, stronger,
00:44tougher. They're physical. This is a matchup I did not want because I don't think we stand
00:48a chance against them. They could be a bad matchup, but buck up, buddy. You're the one
00:55seed. Yeah. And, and I mean, let's go back to last week. I know you weren't here
00:59Friday, but we had the conversation about who would you rather play? I said the Hornets
01:04because I think it would be more fun to beat them and more and you know, all their sass,
01:08all that stuff. But it, I think it was, I know Stoney talked about, you know, not taking
01:15the easier path, but it being a better matchup for the Pistons. Now are we all, all of a sudden
01:21it's because we lost one. We're going back on that. Oh, now it's a bad matchup, but we
01:24can't beat them. They're just a team that will play a paint oriented style and they're
01:30going to defend. And in that way it just turns into a slugfest. Now I think the Pistons should
01:36be able to go into a back alley and win this series. I don't want to make excuses. I think
01:41if they had played a perimeter jump shooting team, though, they would have pummeled and caved
01:44in Charlotte. In terms of tonight, we spotlighted things during the obvious one. Hey, let's
01:52get back to double doubles. Let's get back to being a force around the room. Don't let
01:55people bully you. I'd love to see a SAR back out there in crunch time. Play the kind of
02:01defense that got you here in the first place. Can Tobias Harris not shoot one of seven from
02:06three? About three of seven from three, make a couple more. It goes a long way. I mean,
02:13these are things that I don't think are unrealistic to ask of this team. No, I think the most realistic
02:17ask is not asking somebody to do something that is out of their skill set. I'm not going
02:26to ask Tobias Harris to be seven of eight from behind the arc. That would be awesome. It's
02:31not going to happen. Maybe Duncan Robinson has a performance like that, but I think the
02:34one thing you can rely on should be able to rely on and count on tonight is the defense
02:39playing at the level we saw throughout the course of the regular season, but we didn't
02:44see on Sunday. Yeah, I think you people who are freaking are already given up. I think
02:49you have to trust the season results, you know, and the fact that Orlando shot 5% better
02:54the other night than they typically do during the season. That's the thing. It's like the
02:58Pistons defense. Yeah, it needs to improve, but I'd suggest that land or Orlando doesn't
03:04shoot that well. Yeah, they're not a good shooting team. Yeah, they had a good shooting
03:09night, and I think that's why people are freaking a little bit because Orlando probably played
03:14the best game they could. The season suggests they won't play a game like that the rest of
03:20the series, especially against what you think is a good defensive team. One of the one of
03:27the defensive adjustments we keep harping on is get us out there, right? Yeah. Tech says
03:31Boncara was statistically the worst pull-up shooter in the league this season. I don't
03:35want to hear people talking about putting a SAR on him. I think how they use a SAR is
03:40also very interesting. Like, yeah, he needs to play north of 30 minutes, get him out there
03:4435 plus in terms of who he's on. He spent some time on Desmond Bain in game one, who's
03:51probably their best shooting threat, but that's not a guy you're going to sag off
03:54of. I actually think it'd be nice to see him more on Wagner because Wagner was getting
04:00downhill to the basket. You want to head him off at the pass, and you can sag off him
04:04a little bit, try to get in the passing lanes, rove, steal, block, but you could mess around
04:10and put a SAR on Suggs. I mean, the beauty of his game is he can defend four of the
04:17five
04:17positions. I'm not putting him on a low block, but I can use him creatively, and I want him
04:22out there as much as possible.
04:24Let's get to Kevin in Sterling Heights. Kevin, good morning.
04:28Good morning. How are you doing?
04:30Good. How are you doing?
04:32I'm great. I'm great. I'm just trying to figure why everybody's harping on all of that when
04:36we were missing free throws like crazy on Sunday.
04:42Sunday. Yes. And what do we lose by?
04:46Eleven.
04:48But then a lot of the free throws that they missed was at key points and more minimum
04:52changing minutes in the game. They were tied at one point, and then they missed two free
04:57throws right when they tied the game on a foul.
05:00I agree with you that I think free throws are very important. I don't think this one was
05:05lost because they shot 76%. I mean, the Magic shot worse. They were at 74%.
05:13It doesn't matter what they shot, though. That's what I'm saying.
05:16It does. You're competing with them.
05:19Yes, but I don't expect them to shoot 100% from the line. If instead of 76%, and they go
05:2729 of 38, so maybe they go 34 of 38, and they still lose by seven?
05:37But that's what I'm saying. They were at key, more minimum changing points that they could
05:41have, like, you know, it would have got the crowd into it because, like I said, there's
05:44that 56-56. And they came up and missed two free throws at that time.
05:50Yeah, you're talking about a chance to have a lead the only time in the game, and does
05:54that shift?
05:55And I get momentum. I get the fact that, hey, just having a lead, maybe it changes the outlook
06:00at everything. While they're in that game, I just, I think there were bigger issues than
06:08missing nine free throws.
06:11Okay, I disagree, but okay.
06:14But I'll give you this. I'll throw you this bone, Kevin. They're not a good free throw
06:18shooting team. And this could be something that we're hearing about more as the playoffs
06:22go on. What did you say they shot in the game?
06:24They were 76%, 29-38. Cade was, and the starters were pretty good. Like, Tobias Harris was 6-7.
06:31Cade was 10-11.
06:33On the season, they shot 76%, which was the fourth worst in the NBA.
06:39Yeah.
06:40And only the Timberwolves shot worse from the free throw line among playoff teams.
06:45All right, so do we want to jump on Jalen Dern again? He was 2-4 from the line.
06:49How dare he?
06:5050%, John. I don't think that's why they lost game one. What I'm saying is his point may be
06:54clairvoyant. There may be a game along the way where free throws hurt this team.
07:02It is a possibility.
07:04Yeah, just because it hasn't been a strength, it's been an issue.
07:06They had 14 turnovers. What if instead of 14 turnovers, they made 14 more shots?
07:11Right, Greg. Exactly.
07:13Text says, my 51 is on the Pistons today, but only 51% confidence. That's from Chad.
07:19So you're on the scale of one to Sheed, you're 5.1.
07:25Pistons, worst one seed of all time, question mark?
07:31Tom invited some of this. We have some of these texts. Is this most fraudulent?
07:34What? Well, you said if they lose, their credibility gets shot.
07:39Yeah, hello.
07:40And we'd be talking about them as one of the most fraudulent Detroit sports teams ever.
07:44A topic we'll do tomorrow.
07:46Not today.
07:46If that's the case.
07:48But we have a couple texts.
07:48I was talking about what's at stake.
07:50Yeah, we got a couple texts. This one says, last year's Tigers are more fraudulent.
07:54Let's just agree.
07:56Advanced in the postseason.
07:57Yeah, they won a series and they should have been a three or two more fraudulent.
08:04What about the 15 win NFL team that lost by 20 in their first playoff game?
08:08I thought about that, but then you think about all the injuries.
08:10I mean, if you could talk about the fraudulent offense that it was.
08:14Plus, we had the Buffalo loss late in the season that basically previewed what was about to come.
08:20Yeah, I love the Pistons, but can we all take a step back for a second and finally admit what
08:24everyone else had been saying?
08:25This is the worst one seed in NBA history.
08:28There have been one seeds that have lost to eight seeds.
08:34Yeah, which is why we were concerned about Miami, right?
08:37Because they pulled it off and went to the finals as an eight seed, right?
08:40And I believe there is a Dirk Dallas team that won as an eight seed.
08:44Yeah, I think they lost to the you're saying a Dirk Dallas at one as an eight.
08:48I believe they won as an eight.
08:49He was that against that.
08:50Was it?
08:51Gosh, it's been a few.
08:52It's been a lot of losses as a one.
08:54See, maybe that's what the warrior.
08:55I think it was the Baron Davis.
08:57That's what I'm thinking of.
08:58And that was that was a huge upset.
09:00Yeah.
09:02How about putting Reid on Boncaro, especially when the Magic have three bigs on the floor?
09:09And other thoughts?
09:10So are you going to then have Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Duren and Paul Reid on the floor at the same
09:15time just to match up with three bigs?
09:19No, we're really taking this back to the sheet days.
09:21First to 70 wins.
09:22Yeah, not worried about game one.
09:25They ran into a team that was playing their third playoff game.
09:28Pistons were coming off over a week layoff.
09:30They didn't play any games.
09:31Sometimes experience and intensity can't be matched until you're in it.
09:34That's Austin in a car.
09:36Well, then tonight better be a gym.
09:38Yeah, they're back in it.
09:40I mean, that's kind of the way I'm looking at this.
09:42It's like you need to impose your will.
09:44They could be not your typical eight seed.
09:48You're the one seed playing at home.
09:50You didn't lead for a minute.
09:52Duren and I reference this for you, John.
09:55Duren is that NFL player who had a bunch of bad plays on tape.
09:58You got to get back out there next week and make amends for it.
10:02And you were in that spot.
10:03Yeah, it eats at you.
10:05He better come out hungry.
10:06And I think he will.
10:08This is a I would expect when we watch the first 10 minutes of this game, it's going to be
10:15fast and furious for the Pistons.
10:20All right.
10:20We got Ross Tucker joining us next.
10:22Talk a little bit up the NFL draft.
10:24Get some of his thoughts.
10:25It's next.
10:2597 one.
