00:02doug hush scott anderson and look this is a disappointing day and and the pistons have
00:07some real tough questions now that need to get answered and let's face it um it's you know
00:15there's there's there's like a conundrum what to do with durin now there there might be some good
00:22news on that front there's some interesting reporting and i want to get to this that
00:25you know might make this this durin thing the the puzzle of what to do a little bit easier to
00:30answer um but i want it's what an insider reported we'll get to that today at 10 35 but the
00:38the
00:38concerns that were there that were acknowledged that they played through and won in the regular
00:43season those concerns are ones that the validity of them gets you know it's certainly amplified with
00:51what happened in the postseason and needing more reliable secondary scoring and you know that's
00:58a fair you know it was but it was a fair criticism during the season it was also fair to
01:03say well
01:03let's see what they can do because they're winning big games without that secondary scoring or they
01:07were getting it from durin and i guess durin unfortunately was a massive no-show and that's
01:13the on the offensive end but really had a bizarre postseason like it was weird there were times
01:21even disappeared on the defensive end and looks like he lost confidence um just didn't look he
01:27looked like a shell of himself uh and so you take that away and some other stepped up at times
01:33but
01:33ultimately it was too big of a hill to climb and you know other teams had just simply more reliable
01:39more reliable secondary scores and and cleveland had multiple guys that stepped up for them so
01:47yeah and the sad thing is i mean in the end last night you need star power and their star
01:54was not
01:54a star last night it was it was sad and depressing watching it and he couldn't get things going
02:02cleveland amped up their defense against cade specifically last night i mean that was they
02:07defended him differently last night than they had all season long they made a statement and the pistons did
02:12not adjust super disappointing two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven let's go to
02:19marvin and flint you're on 97 one hello marvin good morning guys how we doing okay yeah um i watched
02:26that game last night and i was so thoroughly disappointed i watched for until about eight
02:30minutes into the fourth quarter hoping for something and then i gave up on it and at that point i
02:35closed the
02:36door on that on the season 60 wins it was great but now we gotta do what we gotta do
02:40for next year
02:40and first thing we cannot do is give them during a max contract because that would be so detrimental
02:45to what we need to do let's assume they don't do that marvin because i there's no reason to i
02:50think
02:50everybody would agree you're not going to i feel like it's just a buzzword to say max contract not
02:55from you it's just all of us in total over the last few weeks i think we've used those terms
03:00of
03:00max contract it's not going to happen there's just no way they give a max contract the other thing
03:06when you do is take a look at other pieces around me to bias was great the whole playoff but
03:10where was he last night where was everybody else i was last three games somebody else
03:14i mean to get in to give kate some help yeah tobias since his last 20 point performance was uh
03:21game
03:22three against cleveland he went 16 13 6 and 5 are his point totals in the last four games
03:30so we need to make a decision on him if the decision isn't already made it's a tough one i
03:37think
03:37your time marlin because this is marvin this is a tough decision but he did say you know comment
03:43about how much he's enjoyed his time in detroit he might be at a point in his career where there
03:48could be a reasonable contract worked out for him to come back and be a role player um and you
03:54know
03:54because he is a hang another year on him guy you know the term um that we you know he's
03:59where he's
04:00just at a point in his career where he's probably not going to get better year to year
04:05and the other person i really think we need to take a look at his beefs too i don't think
04:09he added
04:09anything to these playoffs for more than one or two games he was more uh with his temper and all
04:15the stupid files he was getting was causing more problems than it was anything else i used to think
04:19he was untradeable because he was the heart and soul of the team i don't feel that way anymore
04:24i just don't he's got a contract and um i there's no way he was healthy right i mean there's
04:30no way
04:31you don't go from being a guy who might be a starter starting player to sometimes not playing
04:36at all or just playing single digit minutes he was hurt towards the end of the season i have to
04:41believe there's something that lingers with that that limited him but i don't even think a healthy
04:45beef stew is going to matter in this in this series against cleveland i think the one thing that i
04:50was
04:50impressed with i i thought duncan robinson uh raised his his stock a little bit because he stepped up
04:55started playing defense starting to increase key shots uh until he got hurt so there's just some
05:01decisions that they need to make you know um a lot of tough decisions but i'm ready to move on
05:05and i
05:05hope they make the right decision well look i thanks marvin trajan langton let's see what you got
05:12i mean let's see what you got he's he you know has taken some heat for not being more aggressive
05:18at
05:19the trade deadline or finding that more aggressive trade um which may or may not have been
05:23have been something he could or could not do uh or the asking prices might have been something that
05:29everybody would have said no to but you know their name is associated with a bunch of players there's
05:35unsubstantiated reporting out there and it's the same names right it's it's laurie markinen it's
05:40trey murphy it's michael porter jr and these were all guys that were allegedly there was access to them
05:46at the trade deadline uh but these are big money players who all were you know like leading scores for
05:53their teams and so these aren't going to these aren't deals that are going to come cheap but i
06:00think langton needs to sit down and start piecing together lineups because the pistons have a ton
06:07of draft capital to trade now people you know that's that is a valuable thing to move in this league
06:13and we see big deals made for four first round picks um and that that's the kind of deal you
06:21want
06:21to pull off because the thought being all right i i don't have to cut into the core and you
06:27can add
06:28a valuable player and so and if you do that then the four picks you're giving up are going to
06:34be in
06:34the in the mid-20s anyway yeah and now you're getting into all right so what current player do
06:39you throw in there well it becomes easier now doesn't it i mean who who also has to have value
06:45sure sure but i mean it feels like we go back to the trade deadline and we were very uncomfortable
06:52with certain names that would be bandied about in terms of going the other way along with first round
06:56picks uh or any kind of draft capital to try to try to acquire players now after going through 14
07:05playoff games it feels like the picture might be a lot clearer as to whom the pistons would be willing
07:10to move at the trade deadline based on their playing time rod holland right which may or may
07:19not be the right decision well i i think he would have some value but you're talking about a player
07:26that's one of three i think that i could think of i mean jalen duran obviously he's he's there's a
07:33contract type thing with him but possibly and then asara thompson i love asara thompson for what he
07:39brings he's defensively he's amazing he's i mean a block shot waiting to happen he grabs rebounds he
07:45hustles he does all those things but he can't shoot but it feels like after watching the playoffs i would
07:51have to imagine that his stock is going up a bit because of his defensive abilities and teams want
07:56guys like that but i'm not saying i want to move asara thompson i'm just saying that's another name
08:01along with ron holland that could be they could get you some value if that's what you're if that's
08:07what's being asked for i mean if you're another team would you ask for asara thompson in this rate
08:11yeah i don't think they're going to give up like asara thompson feels to me like he's right there
08:15with the on the he's a core piece he and he and cade yeah i agree with that doug like
08:21i don't think
08:21there's cade's the true one untouchable the i think the second closest according to i think this
08:27organization and the higher ups like trajan langdon is asara thompson i think they feel like he's a
08:32cemented core piece you know what i mean like i wouldn't use the term necessarily untouchable
08:36because you never know what can come down the pipeline as far as trades is concerned but i
08:39think they really really want asara thompson as part of this future i think those are the only two guys
08:44everybody else you know i think they like certain players of course but i think everyone else is
08:48possibly you know movable or they don't bring back two four eight five three nine 97 97 oh it's a
08:55monday which means champ and chump we'll have our champ and chump nominations today at 10 35 we'll get
