00:00Uh, it's, uh, the beast incarnate Brock Lesnar.
00:02Uh, he retired after WrestleMania yesterday after his match in WrestleMania, lay down
00:07the gloves and the, uh, the boots, hell of a, hell of an athlete, hell of a run there
00:11for Brock multi-time world champion, heavyweight champion, and actually was a legit heavyweight
00:16champion in the UFC after just four fights in MMA world.
00:20And also had a tryout with the Vikings.
00:21Uh, my jump is JB Pickerstaff.
00:23Look, he's the NBA coach of the year for a reason.
00:25I think he's a great coach.
00:26Yesterday, the guys that he leaned on did not reward him.
00:31And I'm specifically talking about some guys off the bench.
00:34And I'm really talking about Danis Jenkins.
00:36We've got a lot of minutes and was on the floor at the end of that game.
00:39And I thought he really, really struggled and, uh, he's got the feedback right now and
00:44we'll see how the rotations change, but I'm going with JB is my chump.
00:48Yeah.
00:48I went with Jalen Duren.
00:49Uh, this is the guy who's supposed to be your, your counted on number two and he showed
00:53up with eight points and seven rebounds and only took four shots.
00:56I, I, I'm not sure what happened there.
00:58Um, I'm going to guess that he's going to be a heck of a lot more productive in game
01:03two as he, he needs to be, uh, for this team to, to be moving along in the, in the
01:08conference
01:09playoffs.
01:09He's, he's got to, he's got to pull his weight because they're expecting him to pull a lot
01:13of weight.
01:13He's got to be the clear number to get your champion jump votes in again, lightning ground
01:17tiger baseball coming up in the 11 o'clock hour with a Boston marathon Patriot stay game.
01:22So we got a quick show.
01:24We may be on afterwards.
01:25We'll see, um, you know how quickly that game goes.
01:27But, uh, in the meantime, I want to do something a little different.
01:31Kang, your thoughts on the game yesterday.
01:34No true secondary score to go along with Cade need more three point shooting threats, lack
01:39of playoff experience.
01:41JB Bickerstaff still hasn't proven anything to get over the hump for playoff success.
01:45These were things that concern me about the Pistons winning the Eastern conference, not
01:50winning game one against the Orlando magic date seed.
01:53And like, if you had any of these fears or red flags, yeah, like I said, it was the long
01:57term success, not, not game one against the eight seed.
02:00I don't care that the Pistons were off for a week.
02:04This was to say it was disappointing.
02:06Doug is an understatement.
02:08I'm pretty pissed at how they came out of that game.
02:10Cade obviously tried to carry this team as much as he could.
02:12They could never, they never had a lead the entire game, which is amazing.
02:16They came out slow, snagged.
02:18It looked like they were timid, nervous.
02:21I put a lot of that on Bickerstaff.
02:23The other thing I put on Bickerstaff was the rotation was weird.
02:25They played 11 guys.
02:26I don't want to see Javante Green guarding Paolo ever again.
02:29And that's just a bad matchup.
02:31Tobias has a hard time with him, let alone someone like Green.
02:34The three point shooting obviously as a whole, Duncan Robinson shot three for six.
02:38And now outside of that, nobody, Tobias Harris was like one of seven.
02:41Jenkins was bad.
02:44But Dennis Jenkins, speaking of him, that's a guy that we thought we found, right?
02:47A diamond in the rough.
02:48And they're not defined by one game.
02:50I actually expect the Pistons to still win this series.
02:52But game one was completely an utter flop.
02:55And this is one of the reasons why, guys, they weren't getting the respect that people
02:59around here thought they should have.
03:00A 61 team doesn't lose game one like that to the eight seed.
03:03Well, if you look at it across the league, and there's a lot to get to in a short period
03:09of time, and we'll get to your phone calls, the four seed Cleveland won by double digits
03:13by 13.
03:15The three seed the Knicks won by double digits by 11.
03:17The two seed Boston won by double digits by 32.
03:20And the one seed Pistons lost by double digits by 11.
03:23And I want to make a few things clear out of the gate here to credit Orlando.
03:30They shared the basketball.
03:33They were locked in defensively.
03:36They took away Jalen Duren.
03:39And they were mentally tougher.
03:41And by that, I mean, every time the Pistons made a run, Orlando responded.
03:45I give Orlando a ton of credit.
03:48That was about the worst Piston performance we've seen in quite some time.
03:52It was terrible.
03:53It was a horrific performance.
03:55And I don't know if, look, whatever the reason is, yuck, throw it in the garbage, get
04:02back for game two.
04:03But the one thing that stood out to me was that Jalen Duren was nowhere.
04:06That's why he's my chump of the week.
04:08Um, and I'm not sure if that's, my guess is it's a combination of things, but I'm not
04:13sure if it's, if it's more on Duren for not being assertive and, and, and, and demanding
04:18the ball underneath and let's go, or if it was something that Orlando did defensively to
04:23take him out, let's hope it's not that because if Orlando figured things out for game one of
04:30the playoffs, when nobody could figure out Jalen Duren for the entire regular season, then
04:35there's a problem.
04:35That's why I'm thinking probably not it.
04:38There's definitely things that Orlando did defensively to limit what Jalen Duren can do.
04:42Um, but Pistons have to figure that out and they've got the coach of the year to do it.
04:47And, uh, I'm not panicked about the first game loss.
04:50I'm not happy about the first game loss because it looked ugly.
04:53They couldn't shoot, uh, the, the, they, they got behind big time early.
04:58They also went on a 10-0 run and, and, and cut the lead down to like almost nothing pretty
05:03quickly.
05:04And then pretty quickly that's that got down by a 13 again.
05:08It was unbelievable.
05:09The poise that Orlando showed impressed me.
05:11The toughness that they showed.
05:13And look, this is a team coming into this that I'm sure that Orlando said we can win this
05:18series.
05:19And they validated it.
05:21Like they feel better today.
05:22They're confident today.
05:24The Pistons of, you know, help them feel that way.
05:27And I mean, we can get into Orlando is maybe a tougher than typical eight seed because of
05:32the injuries they had and missing Suggs for so long and missing Franz Wagner for so long.
05:37And now they're back and healthy.
05:38And so it's a better version of themselves than one that had to make it to the plane.
05:41They had the third best win total coming into the season in Vegas in the East.
05:45Like they were supposed to be good.
05:47It's a good team.
05:48And so they might be tougher than most eight seeds, but at the end of the day,
05:54yeah, they beat the hell out of Charlotte.
05:56I was going to say, they beat the crap out of Charlotte all our time previewing a Charlotte
05:59series because of, because of what happened between those two teams in a regular season.
06:02We didn't focus on Orlando at all.
06:03And now here they've got Orlando and the Pistons will have their hands full, have their hands
06:08full.
06:09It's a very winnable series.
06:10And I still suspect that they will, but yesterday was disturbing.
06:14Two, four, eight, five, three, nine, 97, 97.
06:16Let's go to Matt.
06:17You're on 97.
06:17One.
06:18Hi, Matt.
06:19Hey, good afternoon.
06:20Chump, obviously, picker staff or coaching.
06:23Uh, champ is going to be, uh, my friend's brother.
06:27He had this tiger wood shirt and I thought it was amazing.
06:30So I had a picture of tiger woods, uh, mugshot and it said, a lion wouldn't drive drunk, but
06:36a tiger would.
06:37Oh boy.
06:38And I thought, I thought it was funny.
06:40Well, he wasn't drunk, but I understand what you're saying.
06:43I get you, but I just thought it was amusing.
06:47All right, cool.
06:48Thanks for the phone call, Matt.
06:49We go to Tom next on 97.
06:50One.
06:50Hi, Tom.
06:51What's up, gentlemen?
06:52How are you this morning?
06:54All right, Tom.
06:55There's a lot of people don't understand that that week layoff.
06:59I played pro sports in the sixties and dad, that one week layoff.
07:02Oh, hold on.
07:03Let's not bury the lead.
07:04Where, who'd you play for?
07:06Well, I played in the common football league in the early seventies.
07:10Then I played in Hampton, Rudy, Tom, John, I mentioned John Brisker, how a starting guard
07:15on the vast varsity team.
07:18That week layoff, my friend really hurt.
07:20Plus nobody understands this.
07:22The last four games of the season didn't mean nothing to them.
07:26They played teams and it didn't mean nothing because they won the division already.
07:31So they went in.
07:32Timing was completely off as you guys could notice and you've seen.
07:37And I did bounce back, but it's just a matter of a day.
07:40We're not ready yesterday.
07:42And bottom line.
07:44Look, do I think that that potentially had something to do with it?
07:48I actually do.
07:48I do think that there's a, there's a rhythm.
07:50The teams get into a timing that they get into.
07:53And, and I don't think they look like themselves.
07:55Uh, and I didn't play beyond high school, but I think that that can be something.
08:00Um, and, and so I'm not going to sit here and dismiss that, but it was, but it's up to
08:05I'm like, they don't play till Wednesday.
08:08We got to sit here and stew on this damn thing for a couple of days.
08:11Yeah.
08:12Well, Orlando hasn't played till Wednesday either.
08:14No, but Orlando can.
08:15No, I understand what I'm saying.
08:16I think that's, that might be a little bit of an advantage too, because Orlando's like,
08:19we want to get it going.
08:20We want to play.
08:21We want to play.
08:21We want to play.
08:22And all right, well, you got a little bit of a road bump here.
08:24You gotta, you gotta wait.
08:26It was something we did bring up a little bit, very briefly last week.
08:29Yeah.
08:29That, Hey, look, um, Pistons have to wait to figure out who their opponent is and whoever
08:35they're going to be facing is going to be ready to roll.
08:37Okay.
08:38They were ready to roll.
08:39All right, fine.
08:40Wipe, wipe it out.
08:40Let's go for game two, because game one was ugly.
08:43All five scores for the magic scored in double figures.
08:47Um, and it's, uh, that, that, that's to be a concern for sure.
08:52Friends Wagner's a really good player.
08:54He's really good.
08:55Bain is good.
08:55And Ben Carroll was really good too.
08:57They've got, they've got a nice, uh, semblance of a team there, but like the Pistons, they're
09:01also kind of playoff inexperienced.
09:04So let's take advantage of that.
09:06Go out and show why you were a 60 win team.
09:08They have to play better for sure.
09:10I don't know if they can play much worse.
09:11Carson Anderson, open lines, champion jump votes, get them in and hurry.
09:15So we got tiger baseball coming up in the 11 o'clock hour at 97.
09:19I'm going to be right there.
09:19So we'll be right back.
09:19So we'll be right back.
