00:03get to some piston stuff coming up uh because they look this is a good basketball team and
00:08they i feel like you know the lions sort of suck all the oxygen out of a room when we

00:13football season and we're gonna be on football's a huge deal here in detroit but the pistons are
00:17getting ready for a season coming off 60 wins they got the the durin thing in the uh in the
00:22rearview mirror and some interesting pieces that we're brought in um and so you know they've they've
00:26clearly decided you know it's i'm what i find fascinating okay and maybe we'll get into it
00:35right now everybody thought that the detroit lions should address the secondary it was a common
00:44it wasn't you know some big secret and they did you know you might not like who they got and
00:52the
00:52guys that they got are having some struggles a creary is he and and clark were brought in they
00:59drafted abney and and people can you know say that wasn't enough and that's fine it's it's looking at
01:07this point like it wasn't enough but the pistons the thing in the pistons was they weren't a great
01:17shooting team and they went out and they addressed the shooting but they didn't address a shooting
01:26where they went out and got you know some elite you know three-point shooter that everybody was
01:33you know just raving about and how great they were going to be etc etc they got guys who could
01:38shoot it
01:39but not like the the premier shooters in the league collins can shoot it isaiah joe can shoot it um
01:47uh i don't know what's the other dude's name anyway the point is they addressed that they were like
01:52okay we're going to we're going to shoot the ball better from the perimeter and see how that impacts
01:58our team and you know well will it we'll find out um but yes the they is it is it

02:08torian prince last year shot him very very well actually last few years in milwaukee has shot him
02:13very very well from behind the arc so look i am are they going to be the next clark izin
02:20and mccreary
02:20or are they actually going to contribute and i'm i'm encouraged i'm encouraged as well but i'm i'm also
02:29curious because this is a clear departure for what the team was you know losing isaiah stewart and and
02:35now tobias harris as well um that's that's a big part of what this team's identity was
02:42replacing stewart with collins all right i'm sorry we want to look at tobias with collins
02:48um i look to see collins grab dylan brooks by the throat in the first preseason game i didn't hate
02:55that i'm good with that i'm good with that and you know he's got he's got offensive upside as well
02:59and hopefully there's no drop off uh from going from tobias harris to john collins and hopefully
03:06that that's the case but otherwise it does seem like they've added a bunch of shooters
03:10that should make this team more difficult to play against because you're going to have to defend the
03:15perimeter and i think they've got a nice mix of guys that can also take it to the rack as
03:19our
03:19thompson is quick he can do that ron holland is quick he can do that uh you know if you're
03:24going to be
03:25out on the perimeter making sure nobody's not going to knock down a three does it open even
03:30more opportunities for jaylen during now that he's fully in the mix there's i want to see how
03:35it's going to look obviously we all need to see how it looks but on paper adding more shooters should
03:41help the offense but is it going to suffer because the defense is different and the identity has changed
03:46i don't know you know it's it's funny because leading up to the draft it felt like the pistons were
03:53constantly being projected to get bennett stertz the um the the shooter from iowa and he has started
04:01his preseason just draining threes for oklahoma city and obviously they got him to replace isaiah
04:07joe who was a pretty decent shooter for the uh for oklahoma city the last couple years and he's
04:12expected to do it here in detroit um but you know the question is was it enough kang do you
04:18feel like it
04:18was enough i i mean obviously they did get better i think they got floor spacers john collins replacing
04:24tobias gives them more athleticism at that position they lose toughness and defense and
04:29rim protection with stewart but you're gonna have to get during it hey everyone kept saying he's 22
04:33he's gonna get better well one of the things he needs to get better as is rim protecting and defense
04:36so hopefully he does that yeah but the better they got is marginal especially compared to how the
04:42rest of the east reacted this offseason and that's where they might have trouble still like
04:45bringing back the core was important you know getting the core uh extended like duran and
04:50thompson and obviously along with cade but they still lack that true number two scoring threat who
04:55can create his own shot now jalen duran all of a sudden is able to create his own shot this

05:00that's a game changer i don't know how much he can do this year but at some point he will
05:04have to
05:04develop that but to here and right now that's why people were clamoring for michael porter jr trey murphy
05:10guys that can create their own shot because the the three-point shooters they got they're gonna help
05:13create space but they're like stand still still maybe come off screen guys they're secondary you
05:19know come off the bench spot up shooters someone's got to draw attention away from those guys so they
05:24can be open to hit those threes and if you only have kate cunningham doing that right now that might
05:27not be enough maybe oh cory is going to be a revelation but i'm not counting on that because
05:31he's a rookie so yeah i think they marginally got better doug but the rest of the east got much

06:45impact more more like they expected last year when they acquired him um now that paul reed and danis
06:51jenkins are kind of accepted you know members of of the core um and and you know agreed upon that
06:59you know they're going to be in the rotation and maybe teams will start accounting for them you know
