00:00Tune in next week for the grand finale of RuPaul's Drag Race.
00:04Are you team Mikey Meeks?
00:11Hello, hello, hello.
00:14She's the Orlando ingenue.
00:16It's Mikey Meeks.
00:18Hello.
00:19Hello.
00:21The queen, the queen.
00:23Stop it, stop it.
00:25Oh, it's so nice to meet you.
00:26Nice to meet you too.
00:27You look amazing.
00:28Mwah, so do you, darling.
00:30You need to get into this look, girl.
00:32You like it?
00:32I love it.
00:33I found her under my bed, Addy.
00:35Come on, let me see what's under your bed then.
00:36Okay, come on.
00:38Monsters and good drag.
00:39So, uh, Arrietty?
00:40Hello.
00:42You funny.
00:44Like what you're watching?
00:46Well, be sure to click like and subscribe.
00:48Well, hi, babe.
00:50Hi.
00:50How are you?
00:50I'm fantastic.
00:51Do you have a good time?
00:52It's been fabulous.
00:53Congrats.
00:54Thank you so much.
00:55On everything.
00:56I'm trying to follow your footsteps.
00:57Baby, well, you're almost there.
00:58Almost there.
00:59We're here in the air.
01:01So, tell me, what was it like when you got your first call from RuPaul's Drag Race?
01:07I was in the middle of Trader Joe's returning cans of tuna because there was a tuna recall.
01:13Oh, my God.
01:15And I didn't need to return it, but I was holding it as I got the call.
01:18I was like, yes, fish, fish.
01:20Wow.
01:20So, how many times did you audition for the show?
01:22This was my fourth time.
01:24Fourth time.
01:24But the first two times, I knew there was no chance.
01:27It was just to practice, get it out of the way.
01:29Uh-huh.
01:30And then this last time auditioning, I felt it.
01:33Well, here you are, Diva.
01:34Yes.
01:35You made it.
01:35The auditions are over.
01:37God, I'm about to do it again.
01:38But now, we get to see your audition tape for the whole world to see.
01:43Are you ready?
01:43You know what?
01:44Yeah.
01:44Let's do it.
01:45Let's do it.
01:46Let's do it.
01:49Hi, I'm Mikey Meeks.
01:51I'm 29 years old.
01:53I'm from Orlando, Florida.
01:54I'm a Libra.
01:55I'm single.
01:56And I'm looking for love, baby.
01:59Okay.
02:01You do a little bit of everything.
02:03I could give you the comedy you want.
02:04I can give you the alternative you want.
02:05The club kid.
02:06The diva.
02:07My biggest influences.
02:09Betty Boop.
02:10Charlie XCX.
02:11My own drag mother, Mr. Miss Adrian, who's a former international comedy queen.
02:15Orlando's pop princess, Cara Cavalli, and Roxy Andrews, of course.
02:20Oh, yes.
02:22What was the vision for your audition tape?
02:24I knew that I wanted to get their attention immediately.
02:27So I made a super cut of a lot of my big moments from this past year.
02:30Yes.
02:31And within that first seven minutes, they got everything they needed to know.
02:35Yeah.
02:35Everything else was extra.
02:36Did anybody help you with your tape?
02:38Yeah.
02:39So we had to do one RuPaul song, and my sister, Coco, she recorded it for me.
02:44We're doing it at my theater where I work.
02:46And in the background, if I didn't layer the music, you could hear people singing Defying
02:51Gravity outside because it had some cabaret going on.
02:54Yeah.
02:54And it was one take, boom, and we hit it.
02:57Yes.
02:58So you come from a really cool home performance space.
03:00Let's take a look at that.
03:01Yes.
03:02Where I work, the Renaissance Theater Company, they allow me to take my artistry to the next
03:08level.
03:09I want people leaving the club being like, yeah, I saw this queen using a live feed camera
03:14and then have blood coming down of her body.
03:16Or I saw 15 queens on stage doing a production number to Ariana Grande.
03:20Or I saw Mikey recreate Lady Gaga's VMA performance, and she flew through the sky.
03:27It's magic.
03:27Drag is magic.
03:28Wow.
03:31What the hell is going on in Orlando?
03:34See, I'm a theater queen, and it looks like y'all do drag at the highest capacity.
03:39I'm very lucky.
03:40It's called the Renaissance Theater Company.
03:42It's relatively newer in the Orlando scene.
03:44And it's a queer-run theater and event venue, and they do original productions.
03:50So they learned that the queens kind of bring in a lot of people as well, and they're funding
03:55us as well.
03:56So we are part of the artistry there, and they incorporate us into every show they do now.
04:01So where did, like, the aerials come in?
04:02Well, that was for a specific show.
04:04Okay.
04:04I just maybe convinced the director to let me use it.
04:07That was really freaking cool.
04:09Thank you, sister.
04:10The drag scene in Orlando is top tier.
04:12Let's look at the track record.
04:12All Drag Race, Ginger Ringe, Trinity the Tuck, Roxy Andrews, and they've all done incredibly
04:18well because we are the entertainers for the entertainers.
04:23All of those theme park entertainers, they come to see our show.
04:26And now, and now me, Mikey Meeks.
04:28Yes.
04:29All three of them helped me with the package, too, so I'm very lucky and had to have their
04:33blessing with this.
04:34Now, do you think Orlando needs to be taken more seriously as a drag city?
04:37Absolutely.
04:38I think in the pageant world, it is because it was such a big hub for trans pageant showgirls.
04:45When we had Parliament House, we had Sasha Colby's Sonique.
04:48We had Giselle Barbie Royale.
04:50Yeah.
04:50We had the big hitters living in Orlando.
04:53And then once COVID hit and Ron DeSantis kind of took over, those venues kind of disappeared.
04:57But there is still a thriving scene down there.
04:59We are a blue bubble and a big sea of red.
05:02Yeah.
05:02And a lot of individual point of view is an artistry that's happening down there.
05:07Yes.
05:07Speaking of a big sea of red.
05:09Yes.
05:10You talked about a little bit in your audition tape about the most important thing that you've
05:14done in drag.
05:14And I would love to take a look at that.
05:16For sure.
05:16Yeah.
05:17The most important thing I've ever had to do in drag.
05:20The day after the election, we already had a show planned.
05:24Then things didn't go how we expected them to go.
05:26And it hit me that day like, oh sh**, I'm the one on the microphone.
05:30I'm the one who has to break the ice and ease the tension.
05:32Protest harder than ever before and speak up for those who can't, okay?
05:39If you feel like you need to block someone online, that block button is free.
05:45So, you know what?
05:46I think we feel really great right now.
05:49I really want to scream.
05:51Okay?
05:52Okay?
05:54One, two, three.
05:56One, two, three.
05:58One, two, three.
05:59I'm a nipple.
06:01Mikey, that was like really dope and inspiring.
06:04This is what a leader is about.
06:06We have a sea of kids.
06:08I mean, our show attracts like 21 under.
06:11And who feel already so uncertain about the world around them.
06:14They're coming into a safe space.
06:16I want to reassure them that it is a safe space.
06:18Yeah.
06:18Always.
06:18We already have such a strong voice.
06:20And we are a fun time.
06:21We can party.
06:22But when it's time to get real, we're on the front lines.
06:24Yeah.
06:25We're the ones with the microphone.
06:26So let's inspire.
06:28Let's get people active and be the change we want to see.
06:30You're right.
06:31It's a part of our job description.
06:32It's what we're here to do.
06:33Whether we like it or not.
06:35We are a movement.
06:36And we got to do what we got to do.
06:38Hello.
06:38Yes.
06:39For real.
06:40What was the part of your tape?
06:42Well, for me, I got to perform as Charlie XCX in my tape.
06:45And that's my main illusion.
06:46So I did love doing that.
06:48I did love doing that.
06:49Yes.
06:50And the most cringies?
06:51Performing as Charlie XCX in my tape.
06:54That worked.
06:56My alarm clock just went off.
06:58And it is officially time for the library to be open.
07:03Oh, yes.
07:05We are about to see some of the most iconic reads that you have on your tape from your favorite
07:12drag race alumni.
07:13Oh, girl.
07:13Are you ready?
07:14I'm ready.
07:14I'm from Florida.
07:15That's what we do.
07:16Bimini Bon Boulash.
07:18We love that you're non-binary.
07:20You know what else is non-binary?
07:23Deodorant.
07:23Oh, my God.
07:26Lich茅.
07:27Lich茅.
07:28It warms up.
07:28Come on, guys.
07:29It's 2024.
07:31No more fat jokes.
07:32So, Ginger Minj, you got to go.
07:38Okay.
07:39Okay.
07:39Queen Kong embodies everything about C-U-N-T.
07:43Charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and testosterone.
07:50My favorite is you chuckling at yourself.
07:55That is funny.
07:57Oh, the library was open.
07:59But were the books worth checking out?
08:01Comment below.
08:02So, now we're going to keep these vibes going, you know, the shadiness going, and I got some
08:06quickfire questions for you.
08:08Oh, God.
08:09Who was the biggest flirt?
08:11Juicy.
08:11Who do you text with the most?
08:13Darlene and E-N-E.
08:14Who are you taking out of the group chat?
08:16Oh, bar.
08:17Is there a second group chat?
08:19If so, who's in it?
08:20There's maybe a top three group chat.
08:21Okay.
08:22Who had the best entrance look this season?
08:24So, I was last in the workroom, so I didn't get a full look at everybody's thing, but I
08:27think Sierra's was pretty sickening.
08:29Okay.
08:29Now, when you walked into the workroom, who do you think was your biggest competition?
08:36Nene Coco.
08:38Who's the most delusional?
08:40Uh, let's say Athena.
08:42Who's the messiest?
08:44Athena.
08:44Yeah.
08:45My drag, right?
08:46Who's the most likely to crash out on the internet?
08:50Briar Blush.
08:52Who shouldn't have auditioned?
08:54Um.
08:56Darlene Mitchell.
08:58Darlene Mitchell.
08:59Yeah.
08:59Wow.
09:00Because she is my competition.
09:01You shady bitch.
09:03And that's the tea.
09:04And that is the tea.
09:06Mikey.
09:07Yes.
09:08So much.
09:09Congratulations on everything.
09:10That you're doing now and that you continue to do.
09:13I'm so proud of you and I'm so happy to call you a sister.
09:15Thank you, my queen.
09:16I bow to thee.
09:19I appreciate it.
09:19I'll see you soon.
09:20Okay.
09:20Bye.
09:21Bye.
09:21I'll leave these here.
09:24And I'll see you next time with my next finalists.
