00:00Feed me!
00:02Jinx can get out the way.
00:03Bob can get on the hell out the way.
00:05You know, they can all get out the way
00:07because I'm coming through.
00:10Hey, everybody, it's Latrice Royale,
00:12and welcome to Scroll Patrol.
00:14We're going to be going down memory lane,
00:16walking through my old photos,
00:18and seeing some things that might be a little sus.
00:24I have had a lot of amazing opportunities
00:29in my career, and I've done some great, fantastic things.
00:33Wonderful projects.
00:34But the pinnacle right now is Little Shop of Horrors.
00:39Algonquit Playhouse in Algonquit, Maine.
00:41Cast me as Audrey II, which is a dream role for me.
00:45I have been a fan of the show forever,
00:49and to actually be the living plant,
00:53breathing, onstage, dancing,
00:56was a dream come true.
00:59The way we got the call for Little Shop is crazy.
01:03Okay, so Jinx was doing Little Shop of Horrors.
01:07She was doing press and things,
01:08and they were asking her,
01:10if you're going to recast Little Shop
01:12with your Drag Race sisters,
01:13who would you choose for what's wrong?
01:15Audrey II would be Latrice Royale.
01:18She and I have talked about it for years,
01:20years and years and years.
01:22That video was circulating on social media.
01:25Little did I know that the producers and director,
01:28from Algonquit, had been reaching out to me and my team.
01:33The emails had been going to spam.
01:36So we never got them.
01:38And so they hit up Jinx to say,
01:40hey, can you get a hold of Latrice?
01:42So Jinx literally texts Christopher,
01:45this theater in Algonquit is looking for you
01:47and interested in having you for our Little Shop.
01:50Within an hour, we literally had sealed the deal.
01:54It was a done dollar, over the phone.
01:57I'd never auditioned, I'd never read a script,
01:59never sang a song.
02:00It was just done like that.
02:03So thanks, Justin.
02:05If you're liking this video,
02:07hit the like and subscribe button, baby.
02:09You get more content and more of me.
02:11I'm just saying.
02:12I've done theater.
02:13I've been on the West End in London.
02:14But this was my first musical.
02:17And it really pushed me to new limits with my vocal range.
02:22If you want a rationale, it's a very hard to see.
02:27And I had to be conditioned for that eight,
02:30sometimes nine times a week.
02:33That's right, people.
02:34We did nine shows because they were all selling out so fast.
02:40So we had to add the shows.
02:42Just so you know, you're a plant.
02:45You're an inanimate object.
02:46This is like an inanimate to you, bitch.
02:48I mean, wrong.
02:50Creatively, I was able to do my makeup in a way that,
02:55you know, they had their makeup team,
02:56but they had, you know, their suggestions of design.
02:59And I was just like, well, this is cute, but it's not drag.
03:04And if Latrice Royale is doing Entree 2,
03:07we're going to Latrice-ify her.
03:09So baby, I paint it for the back row.
03:11And literally, you could see my makeup on the back row.
03:14It was lovely.
03:15And of course, that didn't come without sacrifice.
03:18I would have to get there two hours
03:21before the rest of the cast.
03:22So I was the first one there and the last one to leave
03:26because I was the only one that had such extreme makeup to do.
03:29But I never complained because the payoff was worth it.
03:34And there she is.
03:35Oh, my God.
03:36She is patient!
03:39Baby, listen!
03:40The inspiration for my look, Danny Beard from UK came out in an Audrey 2 look.
03:48And when I tell you, woo, I was blown away.
03:52Blown away.
03:53It was so brilliantly done and so magnificent.
03:57And I was like, this is the standard.
03:59And I said, if we can't achieve this level of excellence,
04:04then we don't even need to do this
04:05because I can't go out here looking like a sock puppet.
04:08Like, that's not the fantasy girl.
04:11And the team, the design team, Dustin Cross and Fort-A-Lise,
04:15they designed my costume.
04:16As you can see, they went to the moon with it.
04:20Like, super exceeded any expectations that I had.
04:24There are so many pieces to it.
04:26Literally, it took a crew of five people to get me in the costume.
04:30Every night.
04:35I've never been prouder of the work that I put out
04:39and the cast that I was with, with Etai, Benson, and Talia.
04:43Like, are you kidding me?
04:44These are Broadway stars who have been doing this
04:47and have their own notoriety within the community.
04:50And this is me coming in fresh, you know, just green and happy to be there.
04:56But it was the best, I think, experience I've ever had.
05:01And I can't wait to do more theater.
05:03I think that 2026 being Jinx, Little Shop of Horrors,
05:07somebody needed to get it together.
05:08I already got the costume.
05:09I'll let y'all rent it for a nominal fee.
