00:00Hi, my name is David Michael Cray, and today I have a poem for you that I wrote called
00:05Bed of Thorned Roses.
00:07It goes like this.
00:09I don't want to remember, don't make me hear, come closer now, then move away, yes again,
00:17then no, until when?
00:20A winter of my life full of fear, it hurts to hear that song.
00:24Those spoken lies, not thinking of how they hurt, they are almost as strong as the truth.
00:31But what has been said, again I hear the words, although their meaning is lost in the confusion
00:37of your bed of thorned roses, almost irresistible and at great cost.
00:43Where will I be found wanting, when I look back, truly not innocent of everything God
00:49asks, but not what was questioned, not remembering.
00:54What patience we need, these misunderstandings are haunting me.
00:58Will we let this wound bleed, or can we forgive our own seductions, mixed messages, and importance
01:05reductions?
01:06Can we forgive each other's, accepting each other then, but with so little ability for
01:14either to really have thought out what it would mean?
01:16Too much chemical influence to be aware of how little we would care to listen to the influence
01:23of holiness.
01:26Strange how we could be so misled to thinking that it was all right, though God would never
01:31approve.
01:33Thinking only with our feelings, so much that heart and conscience is not heard.
01:38Like a burnt letter, arriving with too many other louder and more attractive messages coming
01:44at the same time, and then there was the possibility that it could work out.
01:49That the beauty, emotion, and attraction could be true love, adding to the temptation, but not
01:57knowing and it showing later when doubting each other, when doubting each of our actions after.
02:04Not innocent in God's eyes, but not so far from love, as one might have thought.
02:11And all the worse, that it was forgotten by the morrow, because the spirits were too strong
02:16in you.
02:18But now, with greater wisdom and a clearer sight of love, it is with a heavy heart that I remember
02:24what otherwise would have seemed a thing of beauty that memory ruined.
02:29Yet now, with higher sight, seems the diamond memory moment had a flaw in its making.
02:36I hope you liked this poem.
