00:00Hi, my name is David Michael Cray, also known as Crayfish, and today I have a poem for you
00:05that I wrote called, It Takes a Village and a Child.
00:09It goes like this.
00:11They say it takes a village to properly raise a child, but it also takes a child to properly
00:18raise a village.
00:20To reach one's fullest potential, fatherhood or motherhood, is absolutely essential.
00:25Not in legal paper and ink, nor even biologically having a link, but rather in our heart is
00:34where it must start.
00:35To fully have compassion for the helpless, that we know in our hearts we must be parents
00:40to God's creation and help them grow.
00:44We must be parents to the world to learn selfless love, by loving as though they are an extension
00:51thereof.
00:51We need you to be our father or mother, and you need us to be your child, just as you
00:58need us to be your parental sister or brother, while we need you as our child all the while.
01:06So every Mother's Day and Father's Day, let us celebrate with love those parents and children
01:12that help us rise above, for we must make each other be the catalyst for the potential we
01:18all could see.
