00:00You stupid, old man.
00:06You don't get to rush this.
00:08Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at the 10 most divisive games of the decade so
00:15far.
00:16Whether they reviewed well or poorly, there was a sizable amount of players who felt differently.
00:21Keep in mind, we're talking about games that came out between 2020 and, well, now.
00:27Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays, and ring
00:33the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:37Tekken 8
00:48At first, Tekken 8 was on the top of the world, with the best online matchmaking, the best game balance,
00:54and the best story mode in the entire franchise.
00:57But when the game entered its second season with some major tweaks to the gameplay, many found the game to
01:03be an absolute bully fest, as almost everybody online seemed to be able to execute devastating combos with no effort
01:10whatsoever.
01:11Eventually, Bandai Namco Entertainment managed to get things to a better spot, and even promised players that Season 3 was
01:18going to bring Tekken 8 back to where it used to be, only to change pretty much nothing aside from
01:24tweaks to a couple of characters.
01:25Plenty of people are still having fun online, but there are also plenty of people who have jumped ships since,
01:32and have moved over to Street Fighter 6.
01:34And those people are facing some fires of their own, let me tell you.
01:38That Alex ending, man.
01:41Whew!
01:47Overwatch 2
01:49We're going to lose the league soon!
01:53This was a really tough pill for players to swallow, as Overwatch 2 was such an unnecessary sequel.
02:00Seriously, what was wrong with the old Overwatch?
02:03Activision Blizzard, what was wrong with your old car?
02:06Die Hard fans weren't super happy with the new 5v5 format, and folks got even more outraged over the game's
02:13lack of any meaningfully new content.
02:15It felt like most of the effort was put towards implementing a free-to-play model loaded with microtransactions.
02:22Regardless, that didn't stop people from playing the game.
02:25Despite claims of the game dying, hundreds of thousands of players were still logging on every single day.
02:32And now, there are more players than ever, thanks to the rebrand back to simply being known as Overwatch.
02:44Atomic Heart
02:46What's up with your vulvas box, Andre?
02:49They're going haywire.
02:50What the hell did you do to them?
02:52For the most part, many players were pretty pleased with how Atomic Heart turned out.
02:56The setting, the characters, and the boss fights were pretty imaginative in visuals and design.
03:01But there were a bunch of other players who just could not get around the loop of searching and vacuuming
03:06up every room for crafting materials.
03:09On top of that, the explicit Bioshock inspirations made more minute flaws much more glaring to some players.
03:16In other words, Atomic Heart ended up being a very hit-or-miss game by definition.
03:21Here's hoping the sequel turns out way better than the first attempt.
03:24Don't worry, honey. I'm right as rain. The operation was totally painless.
03:28Mario Kart World
03:40If you only ever saw the reactions online, you would think everybody absolutely hated Mario Kart World.
03:46For months, people could not stop complaining about the game's price or the fact that you now had to race
03:52to the next course in your Grand Prixs.
03:54There was so much focus on these two issues specifically that you would think this was the worst Mario Kart
04:01game ever made.
04:02And yet, the game sold more than 14 million copies by the end of 2025.
04:07So, clearly, more people love it than the Terminally Online do.
04:11Saints Row
04:21If there was one thing most players could agree on, it's that the story of Saints Row was pretty abysmal.
04:29The concept on paper is funny, you know, forming a criminal empire just to afford rent.
04:34How many times have any of us been down that road, you know?
04:37But the dialogue for much of the campaign gets more groans than guffaws.
04:41As for the gameplay, it's a fine open-world game.
04:45Just fine.
04:46There's not much to distinguish itself from the crowd, sure.
04:49But even so, a serviceable game does not equate to being one of the worst games ever made.
04:55And Saints Row got slammed by the vocal minority online.
04:59Sonic Frontiers
05:00Eh, I've been infused with weird zappy stuff before.
05:03Besides, I feel like it gave me some kind of boost.
05:06Sonic Frontiers is definitely the prime love-it-or-hate-it game in the franchise.
05:12Many players got to see Sonic Team belt out a 3D Sonic game that actually had great combat, fun exploration,
05:19and a deep story that actually made sense for once.
05:22Unfortunately, there were a solid number of people both in and outside of the fanbase that could not get past
05:28the visuals.
05:28The realistic environments, the alternating moods and music, and the somewhat heavier focus on combat caused many to feel like
05:36Frontiers was never supposed to be a game for the blue blur.
05:39It felt more like somebody took a random Unreal tech demo and threw Sonic and friends into it.
05:44You know, like a mod.
05:46At least this was a more understandable sentiment compared to most other contentious games.
05:52Okay, I'm not taking that thing down the traditional way.
05:55I'm gonna need the Chaos Emeralds.
05:58And maybe a little bit of luck.
06:00Crimson Desert
06:02Devil of the Reed Fields
06:05They have come to claim your hand.
06:09Show yourself
06:11Coward!
06:11It was rather bizarre to see people get so amped about this game a mere three weeks before launch.
06:17The hype seemed to blow up in a lot of people's faces, too.
06:20What was believed to be a fantasy RPG granting total freedom to do whatever you want quickly turned out to
06:25be a fantasy RPG bloated with way too many mechanics and a poorly paced story.
06:31No matter how one may feel about that, there are people who genuinely enjoy this kind of journey.
06:36They want an extensive combat system.
06:39They want the immersive journey from peasant to royalty.
06:42Everyone has a different itch when it comes to video games, and it's for that reason why some are enjoying
06:48the game more than others.
06:50Forspoken
06:50There are slightly more of them that I'd like.
06:54This will be a pushover.
06:56Much like Saints Row, Forspoken got dogpiled on for having a story with some truly atrocious writing.
07:03It's not that the pacing was messy or nonsensical, it's that it felt like the usual corny lines and quips
07:09you would hear in a Marvel movie.
07:11For the gameplay, it was a different story.
07:13The few who gave Forspoken the time of day found an open world game with some really fun traversal and
07:19combat mechanics.
07:20Alas, story seems to be the only important thing that ever matters in a video game,
07:25so few could tolerate giving the game any amount of credit.
07:29The Last of Us Part 2
07:31You're infuriating.
07:34Have you met you?
07:39You make me want to go back outside into that blizzard.
07:43Speaking of tolerating things, The Last of Us Part 2 has been a point of contention for just about anybody
07:49who actually plays video games.
07:51Not grifters, people who actually play video games.
07:54There were quite a handful of decisions that did not sit well with a good chunk of players between Joel's
08:00death,
08:00playing as Abby for a sizable portion of the game,
08:03and the strange ways the game tries to make the player feel bad about killing enemies.
08:07Some players felt they understood why certain decisions were made,
08:10and have gone on to say The Last of Us Part 2 was one of their favorite games.
08:14Others, who were more reasonable with their disdain,
08:17felt like the game was merely gunning for shock value and nothing more.
08:21On the PlayStation side, this is absolutely the biggest love-it-or-hate-it kind of game in that corner
08:27of the community.
08:28As for the community as a whole, well...
08:37Before we continue, check out this single from Sound Mojo's Aria, Songs from Iran,

08:49So nature bring dawn to this darkness
09:00Spring has come, flowers bloom
09:07We gotta give that to Starfield.
09:12Yes? What?
09:14At the time of this video, Starfield is only a few years old,
09:18and plenty of people still cannot stop talking about it.
09:22You've got one side acting like it was the worst game ever made,
09:25because the video game about exploring planets
09:27supposedly has nothing for the player to do outside of the main story and side quests.
09:32There's nothing to do, guys.
09:34Just the main story and side quests.
09:36Those who did play the game and not spend so much time trying to do whatever they wanted
09:41discovered a Bethesda game that was surprisingly well-polished
09:44and had some neat ideas in level design, mechanics, character building, and dialogue trees.
09:49That said, maybe Starfield and Bethesda games in general
09:53aren't meant for literally everybody to play.
09:57Maybe, they cater to a specific type of player.
