00:04Welcome to MojoPlays and today we're getting angry and right as we've just gotten over it.
00:09Damn it. These are the 10 most hated video game segments of the last decade. Let's go
00:15reluctantly. Before we continue, we publish content all week long, so be sure to subscribe
00:20and ring the bell to get notified of our latest videos. The Temple of Sticks, Hades.
00:26Oh, that's stupid Hydra. Reaching the Temple of Sticks in Hades should feel like the final
00:31exciting push towards freedom, but instead, it often becomes a poisonous treasure hunt through
00:35nearly identical tunnels. Zagreus must search several chambers for the satyr sack needed to
00:41move Cerberus, with the correct route determined largely by luck. Sometimes it appears quickly,
00:46other runs force players through almost every passage while health slowly disappears.
00:50Satyrs spit poisons from across cramped rooms, giant rats cover the floor in damaging puddles,
00:55and curing poison requires reaching a tiny fountain before Zagreus melts. The area can ruin an
01:01otherwise excellent build immediately before the final boss, making it especially poo.
01:08Not poisoned at the moment, thanks.
01:11Chapter 13, Final Fantasy XV
01:26By the time players reach Chapter 13 of Final Fantasy XV, the game's troubled development was
01:30suddenly noticeable. Noctis is cut off from the rest of the party, loses access to his normal
01:35weapons, and spends far too long creeping through a gloomy Imperial facility. Combat becomes slower,
01:40stealth takes center stage, and every corridor seems designed to test how much patience remains.
01:46The idea was clearly to make Noctis feel vulnerable and alone, and that part does come through. The
01:51problem is that emotional isolation quickly turns into, Jesus, this is boring. I was just driving my
01:56car around a beautiful open world, and now I'm stuck in Midgar from Final Fantasy VII, but it's just one
02:01building. Even Square Enix later adjusted and expanded the chapter after widespread criticism.
02:06When a section needs major repairs after release, it's usually a sign that you messed up.
02:19Starfield's Temple Grind, Starfield
02:26Few things in Starfield lose their shine faster than hunting down its temples. At first, discovering a
02:33strange alien structure and gaining a new power sounds like a major moment. Then, the game asks
02:37you to float through the same glowing points again and again and again. Each temple follows almost the
02:41exact same routine, with little effort made to keep them unique, give them puzzles, enemies,
02:46or visual ideas that distinguish them from others. The repetition becomes especially painful for players
02:51trying to collect every ability or repeat the process through New Game+. Bethesda built an enormous
02:56universe, packed with planets and possibilities, yet one of its most important upgrade systems feels
03:01strangely unfinished.
03:06Jotunheim God of War Ragnarok
03:11The Jotunheim chapter in God of War Ragnarok arrives just as the story is gaining serious momentum.
03:17Then, it asks the player to spend several hours slowing down wandering through Ironwood with Atreus.
03:22Boring. The section contains important character development, sure, but its relaxed pace, lengthy
03:28conversations, animal writing, and repeated chores make it feel really long, not just be really long.
03:34And not in a good way. Combat appears occasionally, yet most of the chapter involves collecting fruit.
03:40It's not badly made, but it feels completely disconnected from the urgency surrounding Ragnarok.
03:45On repeat playthroughs, that problem becomes even clearer. Saving the Nine Realms can wait,
03:50because Atreus needs to show off his riz.
03:52Home again.
03:53Yeah. Let's drop off these roots in the bucket up on the left here. Then, I've got one last thing
04:00to show you.
04:01MJ Missions Marvel's Spider-Man
04:03This totally belongs to-
04:05Don't move!
04:07Buddy, if I had a nickel for every don't move-
04:17Nothing kills superhero momentum quite like swapping Spider-Man for a slow walk behind some crates.
04:23Marvel's Spider-Man makes movement feel incredible, letting players swing across New York and flatten
04:28groups of criminals with ease. Then, a Mary Jane mission begins and suddenly the greatest threat is
04:33being spotted by one guard with a taser. These stealth sections are not particularly hard either,
04:37but they interrupt the game's rhythm and feel painfully limited when compared to playing as
04:41goddamn Spider-Man. Honestly, there's MJ and there's Spider-Man. Misogyny aside,
04:47who the f**k would pick MJ?
04:48I'd get to be alive. This is the guy I saved five minutes ago.
04:52Listen, whoever these masked guys are, they're after this file.
04:56The Race Mafia Definitive Edition
05:06The race in Mafia is difficult for reasons that go beyond slippery handling
05:11or aggressive opponents. I never played the original, so I assumed they botched it,
05:16but it turns out it was also hard in the OG entry. In the remake and on classic difficulty,
05:20the event is heavily scripted, meaning driving perfectly does not always guarantee an early
05:26lead will last. Rival cars can suddenly surge ahead, forcing players to follow the dramatic
05:31comeback the game wants rather than simply racing normally. That creates a strange situation where
05:36the best strategy is sometimes to stop pushing for first place and let the event unfold as it intended.
05:42It clashes with every natural racing instinct and makes the challenge feel less like skill
05:47than at first appears. It kind of suggested that if you were confident enough to say it was easy,
05:51it means you probably kind of sucked. Gotcha!
06:02Harper Boss Fight Call of Duty Black Ops 7
06:09Nothing in Black Ops 7 sums up its confused tone better than the Harper boss fight. The returning
06:15favourite from Black Ops 2, once played with gritty charm by Michael Rooker, suddenly appears as a
06:20gigantic enemy inside a hallucination sequence. Rather than feeling threatening or emotional,
06:25the encounter plays like the campaign briefly turned into a strange superhero game after eating
06:29expired cheese. I don't really know what that means, but I wrote it. Awkward dialogue,
06:33an absurd concept and over-the-top presentation left many fans wondering how this belonged in the same
06:39series as Black Ops and Black Ops 2. The game already struggled to impress long-time players,
06:43but this moment became the perfect symbol of everything they disliked.
06:55Guama Red Dead Redemption 2
07:04Guama arrives in RDR2 at exactly the wrong moment. After dozens of hours exploring a huge open world,
07:10the game suddenly dumps Arthur on a tropical island where freedom disappears and missions become
07:15tightly scripted. Oh, and most importantly, not open world. The chapter feels disconnected from the
07:21main story and hangs around longer than most players would like or expect. With Arthur's journey nearing
07:26its most important stretch, being forced to fight through Guama feels like someone paused the finale to
07:31start a completely different game. Some fans argue the frustration is intentional, since the gang's
07:36mistakes have trapped them in a miserable situation, and that idea does make sense, but it doesn't make the
07:41section more enjoyable. No, no, no, you don't get it. You're supposed to hate it. Okay, success, I guess.
07:54The High Road Crash Bandicoot Insane Trilogy
08:01The High Road was already one of the nastiest levels in the original Crash Bandicoot, but the
08:05Insane Trilogy somehow made it even more painful. Kinda insane. Players must cross a collapsing rope
08:11bridge where every jump demands perfect timing, and one tiny mistake sends Crash straight into the void.
08:16The remake's updated controls are the real problem. To make all three games feel consistent, the developers
08:22use one shared jumping system instead of preserving each title's original movement. Unfortunately, that
08:27means Crash's landings feel slightly different from what this level was designed around. Those small changes
08:33turn difficult jumps into repeated disasters. You line everything up, leap confidently, miss by half a pixel,
08:39and immediately punch through your coffee table.
08:47Abby Day 1, The Last of Us Part 2
08:56Now, I'm a lover of The Last of Us, don't come for me in the comments, but for fans, just
09:00understand I say this from a place of total love.
09:03The Last of Us Part 2 builds enormous tension around finding Abby, only to slam the brakes at the exact
09:09moment everything's about to explode. Players are suddenly sent back several days, lose all their
09:14upgrades, and begin again from Abby's perspective. It's a bold storytelling choice, but also one that
09:20feels like reaching the final chapter of a book before being handed another book. The Switch asks players
09:25to understand someone they've spent hours hating, which I eventually respected as powerful, but I also
09:31found it completely exhausting. The pace is damaged, and you're forced to be challenged, which you
09:36could argue is the point, but just like RDR 2, the point can also suck huge p***s.
