00:14Welcome to MojoPlays, and we might be nearing the end of the ninth generation of consoles,
00:19but you wouldn't know it by comparing the graphics of some PS4 games to the current-gen PS5 titles.
00:35Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified about our latest
00:40videos.
00:43Assassin's Creed Unity
00:53Despite a rocky launch in the early days of the PS4,
00:57Assassin's Creed Unity eventually landed with its leap of faith and remains a showcase for the series' potential.
01:03Incredibly dense crowds which could feature up to potentially 30,000 NPCs brought revolutionary Paris to life,
01:09and the immaculately detailed environments full of real-life recreations of historical landmarks at one-to-one scale were just
01:16waiting to be explored.
01:17It's likely due to all this technical wizardry, the game was so broken at launch with the engine failing to
01:23keep up with the ambitions of the developers.
01:25However, after a series of patches, not only is Unity in the best possible state it's ever been,
01:30but remains a standout in the series that has struggled to recapture the same scale and density of the streets
01:36of Paris,
01:36even after multiple follow-up entries and over a decade later.
01:41Let these tenets be branded upon your mind.
01:45Follow them and be uplifted.
01:48Break them at your peril.
01:52Rise, Assassin.
01:53Devil May Cry 5
02:05Alright, time to kick some ass.
02:07The Devil May Cry series has always been just as much about the spectacle as the game's liquid smooth combat,
02:13and with the series' fifth entry, Capcom set a new benchmark for the entire series.
02:17The RE engine continues to prove to be one of the most versatile and powerful engines in gaming today,
02:23with incredible facial animations and some of the most detailed environments and enemies in not only the entire DMC series,
02:30but also on the PS4.
02:32The splashy combat mechanics and particle effects make each encounter feel like an anime or comic book panel come to
02:38life,
02:38and the variety of locations and enemies the players encounter make each new arena feel fresh and unique.
02:44Even better, the game runs at a rock-solid framerate with almost no hiccups,
02:49allowing for pitch-perfect precision in each encounter and some of the most jaw-dropping cinematics on the PS4.
03:08Bloodborne
03:09Whatever happens, you may think it all a mere bad dream.
03:15A large part of what makes FromSoft games timeless is their impressive art direction,
03:20and Bloodborne remains one of the best examples of the studio's talents to date.
03:24The entire city of Yharnam and its surrounding areas have a realistic, grimy feel to them,
03:29and the impressive blood physics and the way they coat nearly every surface in their surrounding area,
03:34including the player themselves, gives the world another level of ick.
03:38The Victorian architecture is some of the most detailed FromSoft has ever created,
03:43and their monster designs are both disgustingly and intricately designed,
03:46making you take in every detail of the many monsters' creations as they pound you into a bloody pulp.
03:52The sense of relief at seeing the sunshine breaking through the steeples of the nearby church
03:56after narrowly surviving the dark and foreboding underbelly of the city
04:00remains unparalleled in FromSoft's extensive catalogue.
04:03Try to keep your hands clean.
04:06Leave the hunting of hunters to me.
04:10Battlefield 1
04:22The Battlefield series has always set a high bar for itself with each new entry,
04:27but for Battlefield 1, the devs at DICE set the bar so high, even they couldn't surpass it.
04:33Never before had combat felt so viciously realistic to the point where those with weak constitutions
04:39likely developed PTSD after a few short missions.
04:42The trench warfare combined with the hyper-realistic setting and world design
04:46remains unparalleled in a genre that has been becoming increasingly over-the-top.
04:51The explosions combined with the game's masterful audio design
04:54puts you right in the fight of your life where every bullet counts.
04:57The sounds of your comrades dying and the enemies surrounding you
05:00with some of the most impressive graphics, level design, attention to detail in every weapon
05:04and setting that the Frostbite engine has ever created
05:07and remains a fan-favorite in the long-running series.
05:10Every once in a while, we push hard enough that the light breaks through the clouds
05:17to the world beyond the war glimmers.
05:30Naughty Dog have always pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible graphically in video games
05:35and after Uncharted 4 originally set the bar, The Last of Us Part 2 shattered it.
05:40The unprecedented level of detail in everything from characters' clothings to weapons,
05:44environmental storytelling of a decaying world, and facial animations have yet to be surpassed
05:49by anything else from Naughty Dog or the industry overall.
05:53The dynamic lighting and cinematic camera angles bring the actors' performances to life
05:58in scary realistic detail, pushing the medium closer to actual filmmaking than any other game to date.
06:04Despite the mixed reception from some fans, there's no denying that The Last of Us Part 2
06:09is one of the most visually stunning games on the PS4 and the perfect swan song for the system,
06:15much like how the original Last of Us was for the PS3, pushing that system to its limits as well.
06:20I know you wish things were different, I wish things were different, but they ain't.
06:26Infamous Second Son
06:41It's hard to believe that Second Son launched within the first few months of the PS4's life cycle,
06:46but over a decade later, it could easily pass for a next-gen title.
06:51The character animations, along with the dystopian recreation of Seattle, remains impressively detailed,
06:56particularly with the game's unmatched lighting physics.
06:59Before the days of ray tracing, Second Son was a powerhouse showcase example of the studio
07:04and the PS4's lighting tech, with realistic reflections and particle effects,
07:08and a surprising amount of environmental destruction.
07:11Exploring the dense world filled with NPCs, enemy encampments, and a neon-soaked nightlife,
07:17made even more jaw-droppingly gorgeous by the game's frequent rainfall.
07:21Delson's powers explode off the screen with so many particle effects,
07:24it's shocking the game never falters, and the DLC First Light manages to somehow
07:29stun even further thanks to Fetch's light-based power set.
07:33No, no, no!
07:43Drive Club
07:44Racing games have always pushed their respective consoles to their limits with their graphical details,
07:49but even when compared to the juggernaut Gran Turismo series, Drive Club races laps around
07:55the competition. Besides the outstanding detail work on the vehicles themselves,
07:59Drive Club has some of the most realistic weather physics in the genre, and their impressive day-night
08:04cycle along with their dynamic environments and tracks elevated the game to the upper echelon for
08:09racing sim enthusiasts. Several post-launch updates added even more features to the game,
08:14including more tracks inspired by real-world locations in addition to motorbikes and even VR
08:19support, putting players directly in the driver's seat, fully immersing them in the racing experience
08:24and the intricately detailed interiors of their lean, mean racing machine. Red Dead Redemption 2
08:40Rockstar have always been industry leaders in every aspect of the medium, and Red Dead Redemption 2
08:46is undoubtedly the studio's magnum opus. With RDR 2, Rockstar created one of the most realistically
08:52detailed and intricately designed open worlds of all time, perfectly recreating the Wild West and all
08:58its many biomes and environments for players to explore and immerse themselves in. Character and
09:03facial animations are in a league of their own and elevate the impeccable storytelling to new heights,
09:08even for Rockstar. Everything in the game is dripping with detail, from the individual
09:13characters themselves to the smaller details of the weapons, the camps, and outfits, all without losing
09:18a single frame of graphical fidelity. The world's weather effects, NPC interactions,
09:23environmental storytelling, and jaw-dropping vistas remain unchallenged by contemporary games,
09:29and it's doubtful anyone but Rockstar themselves would be able to surpass the incredibly high
09:33standards set by Red Dead Redemption 2. It would mean a lot to me. Please. There ain't no more time
09:42for talk. Go.
09:47The Order 1886
09:49Galamath acknowledged this is command. I read you, Percival. Enjoying a stroll in the park,
09:54are we? Nothing quite like a chilly London morning to stimulate the senses.
09:58Ever since its debut trailer, The Order 1886 was a showstopper for the PS4. The alternate history
10:05Victorian London is wonderfully realized with its murky haze and fog-laden streets accentuating the
10:10steampunk aesthetic and gothic architecture. With some of the most impressive facial capture
10:14tech in the industry, even by today's standards, every animation is so realistically animated,
10:20and the level of detail within every environment and interactive item remains jaw-dropping even a
10:26whole decade and a new console later. The Order 1886 is also one of the most cinematic games on the
10:32PS4,
10:33with an unprecedented level of detail paid to every aspect, including its world-building and creature
10:39designs. It's truly a shame the game never received a sequel to build on all the groundwork laid by
10:43Ready at Dawn and their ambition to push the PS4 to its limits only a couple years into its life
10:49cycle.
10:49Hanging up your colors so soon?
10:52The Order cannot be seen as having any part of this.
10:55Batman Arkham Knight
10:57Sorry, I've gotta go. Stay safe, Barbara.
11:02You still know how to make an entrance.
11:04Over the course of three games, Rocksteady perfected the definitive Batman experience,
11:09and with Arkham Knight, they gave us the ultimate Batman simulator within the Gotham City we always
11:14imagined all those years reading Batman's adventures. The dark, foreboding atmosphere and pristine art
11:20direction is dripping with environmental details, and the open world of Gotham City is full of Easter
11:26eggs for die-hard fans and countless oddities to uncover as you clean up the streets of Gotham.
11:30The addition of the Batmobile might have been a bit overutilized, but careening through the densely
11:35packed and rain-soaked streets demolishing any architecture in our way was the power fantasy we
11:40always hoped for. Not even Rocksteady's next-gen-only follow-up Suicide Squad could match the level of
11:46detail in Arkham Knight, and the less said about the substantial downgrade of Gotham Knight, the better.
11:58It's done. Gotham is safe. Thank you, Bruce, for everything.
