00:23Days Gone
00:24Hey, you're gonna miss my speech.
00:27Ben Studios' post-apocalyptic biker odyssey had everything going for it.
00:32An open world teeming with terrifying freaker hordes, a genuinely compelling protagonist in Deacon St. John, and an ending that
00:40practically begged for a sequel.
00:42Sony reportedly passed on a follow-up despite the game eventually finding a massive audience.
00:46The credits rolled on a cliffhanger involving a government conspiracy and a potential cure for the outbreak.
00:52Threads that were never picked back up.
00:55Deacon rode off into a future that, for now, exists only in fans' imaginations.
01:00And that stings more than any zombie bite.
01:03I mean, freaker bite.
01:05Outlaw biker, huh?
01:07Are you ready to ride, old lady?
01:10I don't know, depends.
01:11Where are we going?
01:12The Order, 1886.
01:14On my mark, be prepared to cover me.
01:18Few games have generated as much debate about their length as Ready at Dawn's Victorian action shooter.
01:24Across roughly six hours, players were introduced to a breathtaking alternate history London, a mysterious half-breed war, and a
01:32Knights of the Round Table mythology rich enough to fuel an entire franchise.
01:36Then the credits rolled, abruptly, and almost in an insulting way, with the central conflict unresolved and major antagonists still
01:44standing.
01:45The sequel was never greenlit, leaving one of gaming's most visually stunning worlds completely unexplored.
01:51The Order deserved at least one more chapter to justify its ambition.
01:55There shall come a day when all our burdens will end, brother.
02:02Maybe then, we shall know true peace.
02:05Prey.
02:06Arkane Studios delivered one of the most intellectually daring first-person games of the last decade, and then left its
02:12story dangling in a deeply unsatisfying place.
02:15The 2017 reimagining of Prey ends with a mind-bending twist that recontextualizes everything, yet raises far more questions than
02:23it answers.
02:24What happens to Talos 1?
02:25What does humanity's survival actually look like after the Typhon invasion?
02:29With Arkane's focus shifting to other projects, those questions remain unanswered.
02:35It's a universe with extraordinary potential for expansion that, frustratingly, has been left to collect cosmic dust.
02:41Well, that's exactly what Alex did. The question is, why?
02:48Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2
02:50I've trained you well, but you still have much to learn.
02:56You have nothing left to teach me.
02:58Starkiller returned with a vengeance in this 2010 sequel, and then vanished just as quickly, leaving behind a story in
03:05absolute shambles.
03:06The game ends on a cliffhanger so dramatic, it practically demands a follow-up, with Darth Vader captured and the
03:13Rebellion's future hanging in the balance.
03:15A third installment was reportedly in development before LucasArts shut down in 2013, erasing any chance of resolution.
03:23Even Starkiller's canonical status within the Star Wars universe remains murky at best.
03:28Millions of fans were left mid-sentence in a galaxy far, far away.
03:34You will be cast aside.
03:38Finish it.
03:39Why?
03:41Why?
03:43Deus Ex, Mankind Divided.
03:46I'm sorry we had to meet this way, Adam, but this was the only viable option.
03:51Adam Jensen's second outing as a mechanically augmented covert operative was supposed to be a part of a larger saga,
03:59and it absolutely feels like one half of a story.
04:03Mankind Divided sets up a sprawling conspiracy involving the Illuminati, the mysterious threat known as the Orchid, and a deeply
04:10fractured society on the brink of collapse.
04:13And none of it gets resolved.
04:16Square Enix shelved the franchise following disappointing sales figures, stranding Jensen mid-mission without closure.
04:23For fans of cyberpunk storytelling done right, watching this series go dark without an ending was genuinely painful.
04:30Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain
04:41This one comes with a particularly brutal asterisk.
04:45Hideo Kojima's Magnum Opus is widely considered one of the greatest stealth games ever made, and yet it is demonstrably
04:51incomplete.
04:52Chapter 2 is notably sparse, and a critical mission, Episode 51, Kingdom of the Flies, was cut entirely before release,
05:00leaving a major storyline involving Eli and the English children frustratingly unresolved.
05:06The game's troubled development, and Kojima's bitter split from Konami, meant that audiences received something extraordinary, but undeniably unfinished.
05:15What could have been the perfect sendoff became a bittersweet reminder of what was lost.
05:29Mirror's Edge Catalyst
05:42Faith Connors deserved better.
05:44DICE's parkour-driven reboot expanded the Mirror's Edge universe with a more detailed open city, richer lore, and a deeper
05:51look at the corporate dystopia oppressing its runners.
05:54The game ends with the seeds of a revolution planted, but never blossoming, and supporting characters whose arcs clearly pointed
06:01toward future entries.
06:03A sequel never materialized, leaving Faith frozen mid-leap above a city that had so much more story to tell.
06:09Given how unique the Mirror's Edge formula remains in gaming, its abandonment feels like one of the industry's most underappreciated
06:16creative losses.
06:17Because something had changed.
06:21We'd started something.
06:25Something we intend to finish.
06:28Beyond Good and Evil
06:29You have finally come back to me.
06:35You have served your master well, Johnny.
06:39Few games carry as much mythological weight among devoted fans as Michelle Ancel's 2003 cult classic.
06:46Jade's journey to expose the alien conspiracy behind the Don Z ended on an enormous cliffhanger with the story clearly
06:53designed to continue across sequels.
06:55A follow-up, Beyond Good and Evil 2, has been in development at Ubisoft for well over a decade.
07:02Its scope ballooning to near impossible ambition, while the original's conclusion still remains stranded in limbo.
07:09With Ancel's departure from the industry in 2020, the future of the franchise is cloudier than ever.
07:15Jade is still waiting, and so are we.
07:18Shenmue 3
07:19Do you smell that?
07:21Because my nose is pointing to treasure.
07:23My treasure.
07:25Ryo Hazuki's quest for revenge against Lan Di is one of gaming's longest running sagas, and after 18 years, the
07:34crowdfunded Shenmue 3 still couldn't close it out.
07:38Rather than delivering a satisfying conclusion, the third entry felt like a bridge chapter, ending just as the story began
07:45accelerating toward its climax.
07:46Yu Suzuki has expressed interest in continuing with a fourth game, and 15 other chapters apparently, but with no confirmed
07:55backing and a niche audience, that prospect feels distant at best.
07:59Shenmue 3 gave devoted fans a taste of closure without ever swallowing, an act of literary cruelty dressed up as
08:06a comeback.
08:07You'd better not run, Landi. I will avenge my father.
08:14If you love games, be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game, Terrible Influence, just launched for purchase at TerribleInfluence
08:21.com.
08:22Terrible Influence is a satirical board game about the dark side of fame from the writer of the most popular
08:27girls in school and us, WatchMojo.
08:29Boom.
08:30I can make an apology video.
08:32Oh, you so would.

08:38Half-Life 2, Episode 2.
08:42Are you sure you have everything you need?
08:45I think so. Dr. Kleiner gave us the Borealis coordinates.
08:49No unfinished story in gaming history has haunted players quite like this one.
08:55Valve's episodic follow-up to Half-Life 2 ended in 2007 with a gut punch of a cliffhanger, one of
09:01gaming's most shocking character deaths, and the arrival of an overwhelming alien threat, all while Gordon Freeman stood silent, as
09:08always.
09:09Episode 3 was never made, and is probably never going to be made.
09:13The long-promised Half-Life 3 became an internet myth soon after.
09:17Valve's shift away from single-player storytelling left millions of fans in a suspension that has now lasted nearly two
09:24decades.
09:25Gordon Freeman may never speak, but the deafening silence around Episode 3 speaks volumes.
09:31I love you, Dad. Close your eyes, honey!
09:36I love you, Dad!
09:38Don't go!
09:38No! Oh my God, no! No!
