Toughest competition for Celtics in East? Could it be a Celtics/Knicks Eastern Conference Finals rematch? What did Jaylen Brown make of last year's ECF loss? Let's hear from JB! Who has been the Celtics most improved player this season?
Transcript
00:00Well, Greg, let's bounce over to the Boston Celtics.
00:02Jalen Brown on his Twitch stream, as he always is.
00:05This guy constantly doing stuff, whether he's playing in a basketball game
00:08or on his Twitch stream.
00:09He's constantly in front of a camera, it seems,
00:12and he was talking about running it back against the Knicks this year
00:16in the playoffs, and it seems like Jalen Brown wants the smoke.
00:20Here was Jalen Brown.
00:21I said exactly how I felt.
00:22I said it felt like death.
00:24That's what it felt like.
00:25It's a blow.
00:26It's like the Knicks, good team, but to blow two 20-point leads,
00:31how does that happen?
00:33We blew two.
00:34It was packing up two 20-point leads, and then just the energy was off,
00:38and we lost.
00:39But shout-out to the Knicks.
00:40They won.
00:41They moved on.
00:42We lost, so we can't even.
00:43We did it to ourselves.
00:45Can't even be mad at it.
00:45But this story is a different year.
00:47We might match up with the Knicks again, and we got to be ready to slide.
00:51We got our young killers right here.
00:53Now, Walsh, that's going to be a series for him to prove himself.
00:57Yeah, you got to spin the block.
00:59You know what I mean?
00:59You got to run it back.
01:01All right.
01:02I'm always ready to spin the block.
01:04There you go.
01:04I know you are.
01:05I don't know if you know that or not.
01:06You are.
01:06You are definitely down.
01:08Oftentimes, it's a block of cheese, but I'm always ready to spin the block and to slide.
01:13Same.
01:14If I need to slide, I'm ready to slide.
01:16There you go.
01:16I love how he couldn't even let a compliment go for three seconds because he knows the Knicks suck.
01:21He was like, good team.
01:23They beat us, but we did it to ourselves.
01:25Yeah.
01:25I don't know.
01:26You said the Knicks, maybe you're a little concerned about the Knicks.
01:30That's about it, right, Mago?
01:31Yeah.
01:32In the Eastern Conference.
01:33We'll learn a lot on Thursday.
01:35I think one thing that's a big question mark is Tatum hasn't seen him, and Tatum hasn't been back to
01:40MSG,
01:41and he'll do both those things on Thursday.
01:43I think the Knicks are kind of a weird team in terms of their identity and how Towns fits in
01:49with everybody else.
01:50It seems like everything is clicking for the Celtics right now, but I think that's the right attitude from Brown,
01:56and it's the same stuff he said in the moment last year.
01:58Like, it felt like death.
02:00Right.
02:01Like, it was not supposed to go that way, and it's the energy that the whole team has to have.
02:06Can't turn the ball over when you've got big leads.
02:07And Jalen Brunson, you know, he's the one that if you allow him to get it going, you know,
02:14we've seen what he's been able to do, especially in the last couple minutes of the game when the game's
02:18close.
02:19You feel like Kata has a shot at being most improved player?
02:23I think he does, but, you know, it's kind of funny.
02:26I was thinking about this last night.
02:28I was watching Early Edition, and Tom Curran was on there, and they were talking about the most improved player.
02:33I don't even think there's odds out for that award, and how Kata—
02:37There are.
02:38Oh, yeah.
02:38I'm looking at them right now.
02:38I'm not a gambling person.
02:41What is Kata's odds?
02:42He's not listed.
02:44Okay.
02:44So there's not odds for him, which should tell you something.
02:49But who's, like, more improved in a more impressive way?
02:54Because Curran said he thought that Jalen Brown, in a way, made the jump of most improved because he went
03:01from being kind of a top 20, top 25 player to he's literally a top five player week in and
03:07week out right now.
03:08And I thought that was a really interesting perspective because that is a huge jump that a lot of guys—guys
03:14don't make that at the point that Jalen Brown is in year 10 of their career.
03:18Because you're talking about probably first-team All-NBA.
03:20Oh, for sure.
03:22I think, like, it's a disappointment if he doesn't make first-team All-NBA at this point.
03:25It would be a slight to him if he doesn't make it, but yeah.
03:28I will go on a hunger strike.
03:33All right.
