Wiggy says it would be, "utter disappointment" if the Celtics don't make the NBA Finals. Agree? Which potential matchup would be the toughest competition in the 1st round/throughout playoffs for Celtics ? Do you want the Knicks?
Transcript
00:00Now, if you want drama, talk about that Celtics performance.
00:02What superstars on the floor?
00:04Hold on.
00:04That was funny.
00:06At least it didn't have the dramatic tension, but it had the comedic payoff,
00:11which is eight guys sitting and Orlando absolutely screwing themselves
00:16and the Knicks in one night.
00:19But you knew that was going to happen.
00:20Once they locked up the two seed,
00:21why would you play Tatum and Brown in that final game?
00:25Well, I don't know.
00:25In general, just because there might be a father who had paid a couple hundred dollars
00:32who was in the crowd, whose kids want to see the stars actually playing in the game,
00:37the one game that they're going to go to.
00:38Well, you should have figured out another game rather than pick the last game of the season
00:42where potentially you could be sitting this time.
00:44Maybe those are the only tickets that the dad could get.
00:46I always think the best business model is to blame the consumer.
00:50Oh, stop it.
00:50Stop it.
00:51If it was week 17 in the NFL and the Patriots wrapped up the one seed,
00:56we as fans would be like, don't run Drake May out there for a meaningless game.
01:01And if you run Jason Tatum or Jalen Brown out there,
01:05just because Billy gets to go to see his first game with his dad,
01:10and then God forbid something happens and you lose one of those players.
01:13How many games did Tom Brady not play in as a professional when it was not related to injury?
01:17Yeah, I don't know about Tom Brady.
01:18I'm just talking about Tatum and Brown, and in this situation, they get hurt.
01:23Now we're sitting here going, Missoula, what an idiot.
01:26Why would you play guys in a meaningless game?
01:28I agree.
01:29So if you're a fan and you want to see the stars,
01:32then the best thing you could do is try to find you a game during the season
01:36that there's a good chance that they play.
01:39You know, whether it's, you know, against a very good team,
01:41there's more of a chance they play there.
01:44What's easier, Keough or finding an NBA game where you know the stars are going to be playing?
01:48I would say early in the season, you know they're going to be playing.
01:50I don't think that that's a guarantee, especially if people are coming off injuries.
01:54No, but I mean, if you're talking about, no, we're not talking about no injuries.
01:57Jalen Brown played the majority of the games early in the season.
02:01Go to a great game early.
02:02The last game of the season, there's a chance if the Celtics are good,
02:06you might not get to see any superstars.
02:08Well, again, they will have home court throughout, I guess,
02:11until you get to the Eastern Conference Finals.
02:14If it ends up being Detroit, they get there as well.
02:16Yeah.
02:16For me, I think it's utter disappointment if you don't make to the NBA Finals.
02:21That's just me as a fan watching, you know, watching the, you know,
02:25basketball this year, watching the way the Celtics are playing,
02:28watching what Tatum looks like now that he's back.
02:31That is how I'll feel.
02:34I don't worry about anybody in the Eastern Conference.
02:37Yeah, I think most recently what really works in your favor,
02:40if you're the Celtics, is that now the Knicks are stuck facing the Hawks.
02:46The Hawks are definitely a better team than they could have seen in the first round.
02:52And the Hawks just basically sat there and said,
02:56well, it's either going to be the Cavs or the Knicks.
02:59They just beat the Cavs a couple games ago,
03:01and they had a one-score loss to the Knicks.
03:04Like, they're telling you that they're not afraid of the Knicks,
03:07and they feel like they match up well.
03:09This could get into a situation where then the Celtics come out of the first round
03:14and never have to see the Knicks.
03:15Right.
03:16Which I do think that they are well-matched teams against each other.
03:21Like, I think the Celtics team is better.
03:23But there's always going to be, like, a psychological thing one way or another
03:27because they took you out of the playoffs last year
03:29and because Tatum has these bad associations with MSG.
03:34Were you of the mind that if Tatum had not been injured,
03:38the Celtics would have won that series?
03:40No.
03:41No, no, no, no.
03:42I think they had already beat themselves in that series.
03:43I agree with what Jalen Brown said, that they gave up these huge leads.
03:48I do think, though, what people forget is that Jason Tatum in that particular game
03:53was playing out of his mind, maybe top two, top three game of his entire career,
04:00his individual performance.
04:02And that gets lost in it.
04:04But, like, I think he'll be able to get back to that.
04:06But I think we're not going to win that series.
04:08No.
04:09We can't rewrite history that way.
04:13But we can't rewrite how little myself and all of us took into actually thinking
04:18the Celtics entering that series could lose to the Knicks.
04:20Right.
04:21Because they swept them during the regular season last year.
04:23Yeah, I didn't think that.
04:23And they were – I mean, they were literally – it was like, okay,
04:26they're going to go back to back because they're going to go five or six games
04:29in the finals.
04:30They fell in love.
04:31They had those big leads.
04:32And then they fell in love with the three-point ball.
04:35And that's how – and they went cold.
04:37And New York was able to chip away at those leads.
04:40And then at the end, you give Jalen Brunson a ton of credit.
04:42He made a bunch of big shots.
04:45Your superstars weren't able to do that.
04:48But this –
04:49Are those streets still named after Brunson or do those come down?
04:52No, I think those have came down.
04:54And I think that people, like, look at the Knicks and they go,
04:57that's part of the reason why Knicks beat them last year.
04:59And the Knicks give them problems defensively because they got a bunch of
05:02wing players that can cover or give Tatum and Jalen Brown some issues
05:07because they're physical, they're good athletes, whether it's –
05:10what's his name?
05:10O.B. and Iamu.
05:12Is that how you say his last name?
05:13O.G. and an O.B.
05:14And an O.B.
05:15Josh Hart.
05:18Mikel Bridges.
05:18Like, those guys will play tough against –
05:20Yeah.
05:21Against –
05:21I just –
05:22I don't want the Celtics to see the Knicks.
05:24Also, in part, because the Knicks fans are such babies.
05:26Like, I feel a certain kinship with them on the one hand because I grew up a
05:32Washington, now Commanders fan.
05:34And they were this, like, once great franchise that then just sucked and had
05:39the worst owner in professional sports.
05:41And it was horrible.
05:42And everybody made fun of you all the time.
05:44And you never actually won anything ever again.
05:46And that's kind of the same position that the Knicks are in.
05:49They've been never as good as the Redskins were.
05:51They pretend, Curtis, like, every year, like, they should be the favorites.
05:56Like, they should get every free agent because it's New York.
05:59Right.
05:59And they throw a parade for being in the Eastern Conference Finals.
06:03And it's, like, kind of sad on the one hand.
06:04But then they get so sensitive about everything.
06:07And they have every celebrity at the side – on the sidelines.
06:10They act like MSG is the greatest place that anybody has ever played a sport.
06:14So I'm like, do I really want to go through a whole series with that again?
06:17Probably not.
06:18GameDog in the Twitch chat believes the Celtics want the Knicks.
06:21That they would like to – Jason Tatum can overcome whatever his feelings are
06:27about the injury and where it happened and about Jalen Brown talking about
06:32blowing leads.
06:33Yeah, well, I mean, Jalen Brown said on his Twitch, we want that smoke.
06:36I mean, so I'm not concerned if they see the Knicks.
06:40I think they'll beat the Knicks.
06:41I'm with you.
06:41I can't stand the celebrities at the Knicks games.
06:44Oh, my gosh.
06:45I don't know how many times you've got to show me Fat Joe.
06:47I love his music, Lean Back, but it's like between –
06:51Timothy Chalamet, Ben Stiller.
06:51Okay, be fair.
06:52We have the same thing here with Donnie Wahlberg.
06:55Like, you know, no offense.
06:57Donnie's a real fan, though.
06:58Yeah, see, I think Donnie's a real fan.
07:00Donnie's friends with Jalen Brown.
07:01Yeah.
07:02I think Donnie –
07:02Donnie's a real one.
07:03I think Donnie – because I've seen Donnie at other games, like in Chicago when the
07:08Celtics play there.
07:09I just, like – I don't know.
07:12I think Spike Lee is a real fan because I remember Spike when, you know, back in the
07:15day.
07:16Maybe he used to be.
07:17I don't know.
07:18I mean, you know.
07:19Donnie – Donnie's not there for clout.
07:21Yeah.
07:21He's not chasing clout.
07:22He's there because he loves the team.
07:24That's Greg's job.
07:24Like, that's why I give Tracy Morgan credit because I feel like Tracy Morgan is – when
07:30you could throw up on the sidelines, you are a true fan.
07:34Yeah, that's true.
07:35I do love Tracy Morgan.
07:37That's true.
07:37I literally just –
07:40I feel like if you added up Jon Stewart, Ben Stiller, and Spike Lee, they still wouldn't
07:45be as tall as Wiggy.
07:46Yeah.
07:47Now Ben is short.
07:48All right.
07:49Well, Celtics await the winner of the play-in game between the Sixers and the Magic and I
07:56believe round one of the playoffs, which begins for the Celtics this weekend, is on – at
08:03least games one and two are on – it's on Bravo.
08:05Is that right?
08:06Is that – I don't know where it is.
08:08What do I have to – what do I have to buy for –
08:11Tubi.
08:13I don't know where the hell to find these games.
08:15The play-in – the play-in is all Amazon.
08:17It's all Amazon?
08:18It's all Amazon.
08:18Oh, great.
08:19Yep.
08:19So you got it.
