00:00We, we have got to get to the Celtics win last night and what you, uh, what, what are the
00:07takeaways from that win over that basketball team last night?
00:10It was fantastic. I was there. Uh, I would say the biggest pop felt in that, uh, arena since Jason
00:19Tatum's return game.
00:20I think that goes to show you that my takeaway from them as a team is that they can handle
00:26a physical team because that OKC team is hyper physical.
00:31Oh, such good defense. And you saw it really disrupting the Celtics in the first half.
00:36And the big question with this team that Brad Stevens started talking about last off season, even when they were
00:43trading away and selling off pieces of the very expensive roster was how are they going to handle the playoffs?
00:49Because now the playoffs are so much more elbows, shoving all the stuff that everybody loves from the nineties NBA
00:58that's back in the playoffs.
01:00And are the Celtics going to be able to handle that? And I think on top of beating maybe the
01:05most talented team in the entire league last night and OKC, they proved like they are not going to let
01:11a team like that get in their heads.
01:13And I feel like watching that game, they also have proven, you know, all season long that they can be
01:19a physical defensive team to like when you see them playing defense.
01:23I feel like you watch this team. They do a great job. Everybody that's out there, like, you know, even
01:29even guy, a guy like Sam Housel is not a great defender, but they're scrappy.
01:34They're physical. They're not afraid to get up in on guys. I mean, you understand how SGA works.
01:40It's like you get near him, you breathe on him. They call a follow. But yeah, Derek White found that
01:44out last night.
01:45Yeah, but think about the defenders. They are a very good defensive basketball team.
01:51And in today's NBA, it's all about being able to switch and play defense.
01:57And every one of those guys, for the most part, can switch and still be able to play solid enough
02:05defense.
02:06Well, yeah, and they beat a healthy team and there's no Cam Newton-ing when it comes to this one.
02:12Like, that's a huge regular season for the Boston Celtics.
02:16If they were to play a seven-game series, wouldn't you say it would be a great series and it
02:20could go either way?
02:22So, when I start to look at this basketball team, the Celtics, and say, do they have the championship caliber
02:29play in them?
02:31I believe that they do.
02:33I believe the addition of Jason Tatum, I know a lot of people are like, oh, he makes the offense
02:39look different or sluggish or whatever it is.
02:41Because I think adding him back and him knocking that rest off is going to be a good thing for
02:46this team.
02:47This is Scott from Framingham. Hey, Scott.
02:52Morning, guys. How you doing?
02:53What's up?
02:55First of all, before I talk about the Celtics, I just want to say how great Meggo is on the
02:58show.
02:59She actually can articulate, unlike Courtney, and knows about the Celtics.
03:05But anyway, I'm just kidding. I was at the game last night. It was absolutely phenomenal.
03:13SGA is a total flopper. Ridiculous refs, and we still won the game.
03:17And I have to say that Shireman stepped up huge. Meggo, I think you'll agree with that.
03:24He really kept them in the game.
03:26And Hauser is junk, and we need to bench him. He cannot start anymore.
03:30Thanks, guys.
03:32I would start Shireman. Shireman does a great job. He comes in. He plays good defense.
03:36He'll hit some big three-point shots for you. I think he does a good job.
03:41So, I mean, we've seen Joe Mazzula play with this starting lineup, this starting five before.
03:47You know, Pete Pritch was starting, you know, through the beginning of the season,
03:51and then they took him out of the starting lineup.
03:53Shireman came – or Jordan Walsh came in initially, then Shireman came in.
03:57And so, I think when you start to look at – and Carl is talking about Shireman,
04:02I think he's one of those guys that he's done a tremendous job when he gets his opportunity.
04:07Texter is suggesting that was actually Scal, who just – it did sound a little bit like –
04:13Scal's not up this early, is he?
04:15I don't think so.
04:17I don't know. Maybe after, you know, you call a game like that, and you can't get to sleep after
04:22that.
04:22He never went to bed.
04:23I know.
04:24You can't get – Wiggy talks about it.
04:26There's nowhere in Boston you can go out to stay up that late.
04:28Right, right, to 3-4 in the morning.
04:30Scout, what you doing, man?
04:31What about –
04:32All right, good morning.
04:33So, I kind of want to jump on real-world Tom's train a little bit.
04:36I know he talked about Jason Tatum, but I'm going to talk about Jalen Brown
04:40and what I got from last night's game.
04:43I think he's solidified himself, and he deserves to be the MVP.
04:46When you start to look at where he is statistically compared to SGA,
04:53because that's the only one that I think we talk about.
04:56I know people have brought up Luka Doncic.
04:57People bring up Luka.
04:58Right.
04:59But, yeah, doesn't do it for you.
05:02Well, I think Luka leads the NBA when it comes to points per game.
05:05People bring up Wemby.
05:07Wemby's behind Jalen Brown when it comes to –
05:10Jalen's almost averaging 29 points a game.
05:13He's averaging close to seven rebounds a game, almost six assists.
05:18When you look at what Jalen Brown has been able to do in all of those areas,
05:23and especially you talk about the defensive side of the football –
05:26football, excuse me, basketball.
05:28He is – I feel like he does more for his team than a Luka Doncic
05:35who might score more points than him.
05:37I feel like he might do more for his team than a, you know, SGA in certain roles
05:46when it comes to playing defense.
05:47So last night's game, because we all probably believe SGA is the clear-cut favorite
05:53in the minds of the media people and the people who vote for MVP,
05:57and for them to go head-to-head and Jalen, in my opinion,
06:01be able to do more and show that he could do more, this shows me that if Jalen Brown
06:09doesn't get the MVP, I'll say he got robbed, and it's a farce what we see in the NBA.
06:15You agree?
06:15I think he has an extremely strong case.
06:19Like, unfortunately, I do think a lot of it does come down to, like, points,
06:23and Luka's got almost nine assists average per game.
06:27So he's a great playmaker, whereas you said before, Wiggy, like, Jalen is not –
06:32or maybe Tom said it – Jalen is not the strongest playmaker out of all these candidates.
06:37He's gotten a lot better.
06:39Like, he is a good playmaker.
06:40It's just the defense is the separator for JB,
06:44and I don't think that a lot of voters look at that two-way playing thing
06:50and say, like, this is really important.
06:51They look at the numbers and they say, this is one of the top teams in the West,
06:56which is a really competitive conference, and look what Luka's doing.
