00:00Munkin did speak, and I really don't know what to make of this.
00:03I'm going to be honest with you.
00:04I think this is a good thing for the Shador Sanders fans out there.
00:10My first initial read on it is this is a good thing for the Shador Sanders fans.
00:14It feels like the horse head did a lot of work, okay?
00:17That can't be the only reason why.
00:19Yeah, but Munkin can be moved off that.
00:21Munkin can be bribed.
00:23He mentioned today that if Deshaun Watson buys him a golden elephant,
00:26where did that come from, by the way?
00:28Where did he all of a sudden come up with golden elephant?
00:30Well, I mean, is that something Munkin's been secretly wanting to purchase?
00:33And he's like, I don't know.
00:34If somebody would give me that golden elephant, maybe, just maybe,
00:37you get a leg up in this competition.
00:39Can this competition be bought?
00:41It seems like it can be, based off Munkin's remarks today,
00:45that he's got the golden horse head from Shador Sanders,
00:48the porcelain golden horse head that Sanders got Coach Munk for his birthday.
00:53He's up on the mantle between two Browns helmets.
00:55He said he would include a golden elephant.
00:58But why did he go elephant?
01:00What part of Deshaun made it?
01:02I put it out there on X.
01:03An elephant is kind of a fitting animal for Deshaun, is he not?
01:07He has been the elephant in the room about what's ailed the Browns over the last,
01:12since 2022 when the trade went down.
01:15Okay, that's not bad.
01:16It is an elephant in the room, is it not?
01:18And by the way, Wokey, very funny.
01:20And a golden elephant did that, because he paid him $230 million.
01:24If Munkin was thinking that, that's hysterical,
01:27if that's actually how he came to the conclusion of saying golden elephant in this moment.
01:30But also, as hysterical as it is, it also then would highlight the idea
01:34that he doesn't want anything to do with Deshaun Watson.
01:37And Deshaun Watson is, in fact, the elephant in the room.
01:39And nobody wants anything to do with the elephant in the room.
01:42You want the guy that gave you the horse head,
01:43not the guy that you're like, this is a problem for me daily.
01:46I have to do, Jimmy Haslam's going to his wedding.
01:48He's convinced that he's still something.
01:50This is a problem for me.
01:51Like, I thought it was a great sign.
01:53All things considered, elephant jokes aside,
01:55I thought it was a great sign today that it felt like Todd Munkin
01:58was at least in favor of Shador over Deshaun to start this whole thing off.
02:03I hope so, because when I think of big, strong animals that I can win with,
02:08I think of a horse.
02:09When I think of big, strong animals that smell really bad,
02:15I think of Deshaun Watson.
02:16And similar to that Daryl audio that we played in the open with this.
02:20Jeez, he's not an animal, Nick.
02:22Pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew.
02:24What was that?
02:26Just heard that stench audio from Daryl in the open.
02:29And it had me thinking about elephants and just making comparisons.
02:33Elephants in the room.
02:34Okay.
02:34The quarterbacks are not animals.
02:36Okay.
02:36We got to make sure that we just, this full blanket out there.
02:39Yeah, but that was Todd.
02:40That wasn't me.
02:41No, he wanted that elephant gift.
02:42That's the gift that he wanted.
02:43Now, how we got there, I guess I'll never know.
02:45Okay, that's true.
02:46I'll never know how we got there.
02:47Man, so Daryl and I on the Sunday show, I guess you're not privy to this conversation.
02:50No, I'm not.
02:50We've peeled back the layers of the onion as to why, like, what was the meaning of the porcelain horse
02:57head?
02:58It's not that deep.
02:59Like, Todd Munkin likes horses.
03:00Right.
03:01We eventually came to that.
03:02But at one point, we were speculating.
03:05It wasn't because he was the lead horse in the race.
03:08You know, how Ken and Anthony had deduced, and more Anthony than Ken had deduced, that he was going to
03:13be the next head coach was, the line that Ken had in that was, you guys were tracking the planes
03:18in the air.
03:18You should have been looking at the animals on the ground.
03:21That was the horses.
03:21Because the horses were being moved across state lines and then pulled up into Ohio.
03:26And it's like, why would Todd Munkin be bringing his horses to Ohio?
03:30Well, it's simple, because he's now the next head coach.
03:32Like, that was the biggest giveaway.
03:33But, yeah, Munkin, big horse guy.
03:36And so, all Shador did there was just give him something that he enjoys.
03:39Right, right.
03:39Just a gift that he enjoys.
03:41It's not like Shador is trying to be like, I'm the, I'm like, I'm your pony for this.
03:46The lead horse in the race is what Daryl and I were saying.
03:50I don't think so.
03:51I don't think that's what that was.
03:51We're thinking that that's what Shador Sanders was putting down.
03:53But, after hearing from Todd today.
03:55The only thing I caught on your Sunday show this last weekend, I was driving around, and I didn't see
04:00if you guys responded to it or not.
04:01You took this call from this guy named William, and William was giving you a Cavs thought.
04:06I know exactly where you're going.
04:07Well, he ended the Cavs thought with, and so, in conclusion, I think that's a great point made by myself,
04:13and I think they should do it.
04:15He was like, he was almost confirming the idea that his point was a great one, and that's why they
04:20should then do it.
04:21And it's like, all right, guy.
04:22All right.
04:23I can't work with this.
04:25I don't know what to do with this.
04:26No, I, that, and then Daryl.
04:29But I didn't handle it.
04:30I didn't see if you guys responded.
04:30Well, we were trying to, but then Daryl got sidetracked, and it went off the rails from there.
04:36All right.
04:36But we intended on answering William's great thought that he had that just never got answered.
04:43And I can't even remember what the thought was.
04:45No, and I don't think he can even remember it.
04:47It's just, he knows that he was great at the end of it.
04:49That's true.
04:49All right, so Todd Monken spoke.
04:50Let's hear from Todd Monken.
04:51And let's see if you guys believe that he was giving any sort of sign that Shador Sanders should be
04:55at least in the front running for this quarterback competition,
04:58and as far as the reps are concerned, be given more reps than Deshaun early on.
05:03Here we go.
05:04I wouldn't say they're going to be evenly dispersed, but we'll definitely disperse them to give ourselves a chance to
05:08at least evaluate who we have on the roster,
05:11whoever that might be, by basically what we've seen in the past and where the year ended last year.
05:18So does that mean Shador gets the ball for the rest?
05:20I'm not ready to say that yet.
05:22I just said the reps, the reps can't be divided up evenly.
05:24There's no chance it can be divided up evenly, at least on a daily basis.
05:28All right, so he knows.
05:29He knows what we know as well, and that idea that it's not, that this can't be a 50-50
05:32split.
05:33Somebody's going to be taking it.
05:34Now, will he, and I think he went on to talk about how maybe it'll be changed daily,
05:38but it really seemed in that first little stretch, and I'm going to take the first little stretch and weigh
05:43it,
05:43because that's what he was believing before he tried to cover it up, that Shador, in fact, has the pole
05:48position.
05:48Especially because of the quip that he gave of that they're going to factor in how last year ended.
05:54Well, how last year ended was with Shador Sanders on the field and Deshaun Watson on the physically unable to
06:00perform list
06:01until they opened up that practice window, and the practice window was open, but he never walked through it.
06:06He never got on to an actual regular season field, never played an actual game.
06:10And Todd Munkin wouldn't have seen the practice field stuff.
06:12Right, so how last year ended was with Shador Sanders, who had a little bit of momentum there, I'd say,
06:19at the end.
06:20It felt like Shador was starting to figure some things out.
06:22He had the big throws against Vegas, and then even they lost that Tennessee game.
06:27Remember how angry everybody was after that?
06:30And Shador Sanders actually played all right after he had that wild interception.
06:33Then he kind of put the team on his back to come back.
06:35So, it does feel like if we're basing, if Todd's basing who is going to get reps based off of
06:42last year,
06:43well, that kind of is a dead giveaway.
06:45Because one guy played last year and one guy did not.
06:47I took it that same way as well.
06:49I thought this was a great sign for the Shador should start week one camp.
06:53Now, again, it doesn't mean that anything is written in the stars.
06:56Like, you still have to go out there and perform.
06:57But if Munkin himself is saying, we can't split this thing up evenly,
07:01one guy is going to have an advantage early on.
07:03And it seems like what he's telling us today is that guy is going to be Shador Sanders early.
07:07Now, it doesn't mean it's Shador's job to lose.
07:09We needed this news, though.
07:10We needed this news bad after two consecutive days of just Deshaun Watson love.
07:16This news was needed today.
07:18All right, let me ask you guys.
07:182-1-6-4-7-4-2-0-92.
07:20Does Todd Munkin already have a favorite?
07:22I think by what we've discussed in this opening segment,
07:24the idea that he also whacks poetic about Shador Sanders being in his office a ton
07:29and them getting to spend a lot of time together.
07:31Meanwhile, it's like, where's Deshaun?
07:32I don't know.
07:33Where's Dylan Gabriel?
07:34Well, and we'll get into that later on.
07:36Dylan Gabriel doesn't want to be around the team right now, it seems like.
07:38Or at least is just waiting until he's forced to be around the team.
07:41And I think he knows where exactly he's going to end up.
07:43And that's fine.
07:44That's an okay place for Dylan Gabriel to be.
07:47But Shador seems like he has the upper hand here.
07:50And I think that is really good news for those people that were concerned
07:53over the past couple days that Deshaun Watson had a real shot.
07:57Deshaun still has a real shot.
07:58But the early, early part of this is going to lead towards Shador.
08:03I'm just worried, though, hearing what the owner said yesterday of how Deshaun could turn a swing and a miss
08:09into a home run.
08:10Like, miss me with all that.
08:12JP, I want more of what you're having.
08:14I want more of the Shador Sanders optimism that that should be the week one starting quarterback.
08:19The reason why you're thinking this, though, is it because you don't trust the idea that Todd Munkin is going
08:24to actually choose who the quarterback is?
08:28Possibly.
08:29I'm perpetually afraid that they're going to do the stupid thing.
08:33And the stupid thing in this situation would be putting Deshaun Watson on the field.
08:37And I think you're right to have that fear, because in the past they haven't shown us that when push
08:44comes to shove,
08:44they can tell us all day, and Andrew Barry tried doing it on Sunday, the idea that this is going
08:49to be Todd Munkin's decision.
08:50And Jimmy Haslam tried doing it yesterday.
08:52This is going to be Todd Munkin's decision.
08:54But we've seen when push comes to shove what happens.
08:56And there's just been too much Deshaun Watson talk from Adam Schefter, from Mary Kay Cabot,
09:04that was kind of in the weeks leading up to Sunday and Monday, where you hear from Andrew Barry that
09:09he's at least down to entertain Watson v. Sanders.
09:13And then we hear Jimmy Haslam waxing poetic about Deshaun Watson.
09:16And then a lot of people connecting the dots.
09:18Well, he's here.
09:19You want to get something out of that contract.
09:21It is fully guaranteed.
09:22They're going to put him on the field and play him.
09:24I think that's the complete wrong way of going about this.
09:27So, yeah, I guess my fear is rooted in that Todd might not have his say.
09:32And I just don't believe that anything good can come from putting Deshaun Watson on the field in 26.
09:38No, we're lockstepping that.
09:40And so maybe this is us searching and trying to find something that isn't Deshaun Watson.
09:43I can fully admit to that and believe that.
09:45But also hear what Todd Munkin had to say, and especially the first part of what he had to say.
09:50It does give me hope that Todd Munkin wants the same thing that we want.
09:53And it does give me hope that Todd Munkin understands Deshaun cannot play football at this point.
09:58That's not, that's not, I mean, it's not a real option, JP.
10:01It should not be a real option.
10:03And the fact that they continue to float it as a real option is the piece that's scaring me.
10:07What we need is the football guys to actually prevail here, okay?
10:09We need the football guys to step in and say, listen, this isn't something you can actually do.
10:13Andrew Barry is not convinced that Deshaun Watson can't play.
10:15And it doesn't seem like Jimmy Haslam's convinced that he can't play either.
10:19We need Todd Munkin, the football guy, to step in and say, hey guys, I've been doing this my whole
10:24life.
10:24You can't take another 700 days off and expect to come back from this injury, this injury, and this injury.
10:28And expect it all to look good.
10:30I need him to be the logic in the room.
10:33And that's a tough ask.
10:34I get that.
10:35But it's what I need from him.
