02:25Let's talk TV selling, right?
02:26An absolute fan favourite.
02:28In a nutshell, did they live up to expectations?
02:31No, not from my point of view.
02:34Hard to know.
02:36I'll only say, really, because when I say compare it to our year,
02:40and I thought our year wasn't necessarily, oh my God, amazing.
02:43But if I look at the figures, we may double what they did, and it's only two years apart,
02:46so you would expect them to get fairly close to what we did.
02:48I think one of the issues as well was just the level of silence.
02:52That there was no feedback from the gallery, they were kind of flapping about.
02:56You know, I was expecting them to do a lot better than they did.
02:59The silence was deafening at points.
03:01Yeah.
03:02But also, equally, in previous performances with this very selling task,
03:08sometimes that gallery has been loud.
03:11True.
03:11Chaos.
03:12I've done live TV, lots of it.
03:14And let me tell you, if you can hear, like, five voices screaming at you in your ear,
03:19and you're trying to talk down a camera lens, it is so disorienting.
03:24So true.
03:25You know, they've never done it before.
03:26And I remember doing my very first audition for television,
03:29and it was basically that.
03:30And having people talk in your ear, you just don't know what's going on.
03:33So, sometimes I go, yeah, they were pretty rubbish.
03:36But also, I go, you know what, it's a really hard thing to do.
03:39See, five voices in my head on any given day, that's a quiet day for me.
03:43Yeah, yeah, I imagine.
03:44If you've got kids, then it's probably pretty normal.
03:47No, I mean internally, babe.
03:49Internal voices are louder than anyone else's.
03:52Trey, you were PM for this task.
03:54Shall we remind ourselves of yours?
03:56Oh, God, please don't show this.

04:23But in my defence, I couldn't hear a thing.

04:26I was literally the first one on.
04:28You just couldn't hear anything.
04:29So, I'm just like, right, I've got to wing it.
04:30And you are winging it when you don't really know what you're doing.
04:32Yeah, I don't think it's the budget.
04:33But also energy.
04:34There was energy.
04:35It was, like, quite intoxicating.
04:37Yeah.
04:37Well, there was strong competition, OK, for the project manager positions this week.
04:42Pasha nabbed the top spot for Team Alpha and Connor for Team Eclipse.
04:46Pasha came dressed for the job, right?
04:48She was not messing about.
04:49How do we think she handled her first time as PM?
04:53I think she did OK.
04:54What I would say is that I think Karishma really wanted to lead on this task.
04:58And so, Karishma...
04:59I mean, she was leading anyway, wasn't she?
05:01There was a slight pulling of the strings behind the scenes, I thought.
05:04So, yeah, she did a good job.
05:05She got the win.
05:06That's all that matters, right?
05:07She was pretty good in the gallery as well.
05:08She was, you know, we saw a couple of performances where it was literally tumbleweed.
05:13She was quite vocal.
05:14She gave good feedback.
05:15Yeah.
05:15And sometimes that feedback makes the difference between a win, really, because I could sell one or two items.
05:20She was good.
05:20I thought she was great being for her first time as well.
05:22And sold eight flossers.
05:24Yeah.
05:24In spite of her performance.
05:26That was unbelievable.
05:27It was comedy gold though, isn't it?
05:29First you put all this green on your teeth and then you got a flosser that goes in your face.
05:32It was brilliant.
05:33The tub of spinach that was brought in.
05:35Amazing.
05:36So much spinach for one season.
05:37And she's like just sticking it on her teeth and you're like, love her.
05:41Yeah, it was effective, some might say.
05:45Karishma, a little annoyed that she wasn't overseeing the task, as you alluded to.
05:50Although it was the first week that maybe we saw Karishma not really excelling.
05:55Yeah, true.
05:56You know, you would have expected her to have aced that.
05:58She had, you know, more...
06:00She just generally has been better than everyone.
06:02But then she went into this whole history of the country and where it's from and how it's mined.
06:08And I'm just thinking, sell it.
06:09There's someone out who wants to buy it.
06:11And also when she was in the gallery, she was very quiet.
06:14Very quiet.
06:15Now I've got a theory that when you get to sort of these later stages of this process,
06:20do you start behaving a little bit tactically?
06:23Sorry, you were saying she was in sabotage.
06:26Maybe.
06:27Because she didn't get PM, she may have been sort of slyly trying to undermine that on-screen.
06:32Performance?
06:33Potentially.
06:34I like where your brain is going.
06:37Devious.
06:37Naughty, naughty.
06:38Let's move on to Team Eclipse, right?
06:40When it came to product selection, Conor put a lot of trust in Rothna and Dan to pick the jewellery.
06:47He kind of, you know, danced around going for the mid-range item.
06:51And Rothna was vocal, I think, about the fact that she said he lacked clarity and he didn't direct them
06:58kind of enough.
07:01Was that like her trying to shirk responsibility or how do we feel?
07:05It wasn't clear, like, go for this, fight for this, no matter what, beat the other team so we get
07:09the best possible item.
07:10She was right about that.
07:11What is a mid-range, what is a high-priced item?
07:15Well, that's it.
07:15Because I reckon, probably, a mid-range item to me might be a bit of a low-range item to
07:21Trey
07:21because he's on the old architects money, do you know what I mean?
07:24It's all, like, relative, right?
07:26It's all relative, exactly.
07:29Let's discuss the on-screen performances generally.
07:32Star sellers, who stood out?
07:34Dan, obviously, like, yeah, cleaned up for me. I thought he was brilliant.
07:38And unexpected, I would say unexpected.
07:40Kieran was initially very excited about selling the yoga mats, right?
07:43He was like, yeah, get me, get me in there.
07:46He thought then, last minute, that he should be placed on the higher item and Conor absolutely disagreed, okay?
07:54What do we make of their dynamic?
07:56It's been bubbling, I would say, for a number of weeks.
07:59It was frosty, wasn't it?
08:01Yeah, it was. Real frosty.
08:02It almost felt a bit personal, isn't it?
08:04I think Conor was thinking, yeah, if it goes wrong, I'm going to throw him under the bus.
08:07Yeah.
08:07You've got a sense of that.
08:08Because how are you going to sell a yoga mat?
08:10It's not that easy to sell.
08:12So it's quite, and I think at this late stage, you are actually thinking if we lose, generally,
08:16that is a strategy for some people, if we lose, who can I sort of line up to throw under
08:20the bus?
08:20To bring him with me.
08:21Exactly, to bring him with me, yeah.
08:22Yeah.
08:23I really thought, you know, the beginning of that episode, he said, well, just watch me.
08:26You know?
08:27Yeah, I've got the lowest price item.
08:28A masterclass.
08:29This is going to be a masterclass.
08:30Yeah.
08:30And straight away, it was that, bless him, deer in headlights kind of moment.
08:36And he didn't know what to say.
08:37I think the realisation of how much is there to actually say about a yoga mat?
08:41Yeah.
08:42It hits you, isn't it?
08:43Because you do think before you go on, I'm going to do X, Y and Z.
08:46But like I said, because of that feedback, you're like, and then you don't know what to do.
08:49And I think you saw that with him.
08:50It was just lost for words.
08:51You've got to get your ego out of the way when it comes to selling that sort of stuff.
08:53You've got to think about who am I selling to?
08:55They're the important person.
08:56Yeah.
08:57Which Dan, I think, did quite brilliantly.
08:59And Conor, in fact, referenced it.
09:01He said he exceeded everybody's expectations.
09:03There was like a very gentle acknowledgement of his moment.
09:07And yet, he still brought him back into the board's room.
09:10Honestly, justice for Dan.
09:11This is a disgrace.
09:12I'm so mad about it.
09:13Justice for Dan.
09:15It is time to bring out our first fired candidate whose shopping channel, Shoe Dryer,
09:20blew his chances at Lord Sugar's investments.

09:36After me and my missus been on the rise round town,
09:39bit of a smelly shoe.
09:40All I have to do is just pop it on.
09:42You'd put me off listening to you, mate.
09:44You really would.
09:47Levi, welcome.
09:48How we doing?
09:51I love it.
09:52I think you were slightly done dirty because it was like Rothen was going,
09:55your missus will love it.
09:56I think she meant will love the fact that your stinking boobs will be dry.
10:01And you were like, your missus smelly shoes on the rise round.
10:05I was like, those stilettos.
10:08What?
10:08I could say something here, but I don't want to throw my missus under the bus for your
10:11feet IGs.
10:12I'll keep quiet with that.
10:15So you chose the shoe dryer, Levi.
10:18You weren't even set up with that product.
10:20You were into it because you have found it useful in the past.
10:24Did you think it would be easier to sell than it was?
10:27Oh, yeah, most definitely.
10:28Yeah.
10:29I thought I'd be all right.
10:30When I was practicing and everything, I thought I've got this bob on here.
10:33You practiced?
10:33Yeah.
10:34Well, shortly.
10:35But then when I come onto live selling and nerves were there, I don't even know how
10:39you chuffing work this.
10:40So, yeah.
10:42Something like that.
10:43Boom.
10:43Yeah, that'll do.
10:45Would you buy one?
10:47No.

10:48You know what?
10:49I'd say yes.
10:52Because I think you did know that there's a market for it somewhere.
10:56Yeah.
10:57And I think, actually, Roth was saying about your missus and stuff just threw a whole new
11:00audience into the game.
11:01Totally.
11:01But actually, you said about people, you know, who work outside all the time.
11:05Yeah, that was good, yeah.
11:06Well, that was the origin for you, right?
11:08From my own experience, being in groundworks, I fell into quite a lot of puddles.
11:13So I thought, when your boots don't get dry.
11:15So I thought if I had a shoe dryer at home, bang my boots on there.
11:18Nothing worse.
11:18Bingo.
11:19With a soggy shoe.
11:20Yeah, banging your feet in a wet shoe next morning.
11:22Awful.
11:22Setting up for a bad day.
11:23Mm-hmm.
11:24But on there as well, they didn't show, but I run about dog walkers, people like to
11:27go walking.
11:28Ah.
11:29So I threw a few more in there than I did just groundworks in my athlete's foot.
11:35The athlete's foot.
11:36It was the athlete's foot that did it, but it was like a sketch, kind of.
11:40I mean, I feel like if I was sitting at home passively watching a shopping channel, I was
11:46back in the room.
11:47Yeah.
11:47Like, I was awake.
11:48It was a surreal experience.
11:50I've never experienced that before.
11:51But when we did the training beforehand, I said to the woman, to the lady, I felt a bit
11:56giddy on that one.
11:56Do I need to rein it in a little bit?
11:57She's like, no, that's perfect.
11:58So I thought, all right, fantastic.
12:00I'll keep that energy up then.
12:01She'll feed out.
12:02It was giddy on another level.
12:03Yeah.
12:04I loved the energy.
12:05Levi, the firing happened very quickly.
12:08Did it come as an extra shock off the back of last week, PM, and your win?
12:13So you were like, high, high, high, high.
12:15Boom.
12:15Yeah, straight in.
12:16He didn't even let me.
12:17Slow sugar didn't even give me a chance to warm seat up.
12:19As soon as I put my bum down, he was like, right, you're gone.
12:22I'm like, oh, nice one.
12:23So yeah, a bit deflating with that one.
12:25But I had a feeling I was going to go, because one of you will be leaving.
12:30He made eye contact with me straight away.
12:32I thought, you've made your mind up here.
12:33Oh, dear.
12:34So I had a feeling that I was going to be going on that.
12:36So I'm sort of prepared.
12:37But yeah, it was a bit of a flat line, really, after winning on an eye.
12:40Yeah, that's tough.
12:42You had a couple of close calls, though.
12:44One of the most memorable for me was binning the parsley in Egypt, OK?
12:50Had you genuinely never seen a bunch of parsley?
12:55Yeah, in shops.
12:56When I go to Tesco's or something, I've seen it.
12:57OK, but you just thought they, like, merchandised it upside down?
13:00Well, no.
13:01Well, it wasn't Priyash, because I don't do it.
13:03I can cook, but I don't enjoy cookies, so I don't cook.
13:06So Priyash went, cut that bit and throw it away.
13:10So I cut that bit and threw it away.
13:12But he didn't show it on that episode.
13:14I said to Priyash, Priyash, talk to me like I'm thick, mate.
13:18He must have been thinking, I already am.
13:21And it's not working.
13:24Even after that, Priyash were baffled.
13:26He's like, I am Levi.
13:30As a former military man, you're used to working with a team.
13:33Do you think, then, that you approach tasks differently
13:36to some of the others because of that background?
13:38I think I approached it compared to everybody, to be fair.
13:42Differently.
13:43Yes, to me, it was the whole way through up until week 10.
13:46It's a team task.
13:48If you're on that winning team, you put the people in the right places
13:50and your team win, you're in it.
13:53You're in it till final.
13:54It's just when you get to the interviews,
13:55when it's about you and your business,
13:57and that's the thing I'm good about,
13:58because I knew I would have really excelled there.
14:00I know my business inside and out.
14:01I'm passionate.
14:03But, yeah, that's the mindset I had.
14:04We work as a team, put people in the right places.
14:06Let's get that win.
14:07And then we have to prove ourselves,
14:09step into situations that they're not professional in before,
14:12just to prove, if you know what I mean.
14:14Because I do think that's the thing.
14:15Some people are looking for kind of glory,
14:17looking to stand out early.
14:19And, you know, Lord Sugar referenced you
14:22as like you're like a plus one at the wedding at one point.
14:25It's like, maybe I'm just a puppeteer.
14:29Well, I'll be honest.
14:30I didn't realise how Yorkshire I actually sounded
14:33until I come down here.
14:34I love it.
14:37And I wanted to do the pitching,
14:39but once I realised how northern I sounded,
14:42how Yorkshire I was,
14:43I thought, I'm not the right person to do any pitching.
14:45I thought, as soon as I start talking,
14:47people will be laughing when I'm trying to be serious.
14:49Oh, no!
14:49I don't agree at all.
14:51Yeah, not necessarily true.
14:51No.
14:52So I, like, took a bit of a step back with that one,
14:55where I liked to have done the pitching,
14:56but I thought in myself,
14:57it was my own subconscious overthinking, really.
15:00I should have put myself out there, but I didn't.

15:03Isn't this a funny thing?
15:04When it comes to pitching,
15:05we think that we've got to be, you know,
15:07really serious about it.
15:09Yeah.
15:10People warm to northern his mind.

15:11Like I said, it's quite a psychological process, isn't it?

15:14You know, it's...
15:14You've got to kind of defeat that voice in your head sometimes
15:17and just be like,
15:17no, I'm the best person for this.
15:19Let me go for it, you know?

15:22I love the dynamics.
15:23I love the house.
15:25I love all the, you know, stuff that...
15:26Oh, he's like...

15:27Well, yeah, there was a favourite human until gamified fitness.
15:31That would have been Lawrence.
15:33Hey.
15:34He showed his true colours.
15:35Yeah, he was nice.
15:37I liked the lad until that point.
15:40But, yeah.
15:40When you're out, you're out.
15:41Yeah, that's it.
15:42Then task A, when we have that talking back at taxi,
15:46we start to blossom again.
15:47And then, yeah, we were all right after that.
15:49Do you know what?
15:50I got on with everybody in the house.
15:52I sort of put myself in the house as like a dad role.
15:56I was always doing it with dishwasher or tidying up.
15:58I was always putting bins out.
16:00If people wanted to come and talk,
16:02have a talk and confine this one,
16:03they'd come and ask me and spoke to me.
16:05You were a therapist as well.
16:06Yeah.
16:06Yeah, I just got on with everybody.
16:07Mm-hm.
16:08It was nice.
16:09It was nice to meet everybody from different backgrounds
16:11and people that I would never meet in my life.
16:13See, you're a better man than I am.
16:15I know that being in a house with people for that long,
16:18especially when you've had like a bit of argument by argument
16:21with them in, you know, in the boardroom,
16:23it must be hard not to like take that back to the house.
16:26When you're at home eating chicken together,
16:27you're like glaring over the top.
16:29Are people quite good at like sort of letting it go
16:32after they've had a bit of an argument or anything?
16:35I think you've just got to be a bit of an adult about it.
16:38You've just got to realise it's part of the process.
16:40You've just got to get on with it and work together
16:41on that next task,
16:42which were nice because you got to see that
16:44with me and Laurencing back at car.
16:45Yeah.
16:46Like, don't get me wrong, we had a bit of a grudge.
16:48We didn't talk for 24 hours.
16:49We needed that bit of decompression.
16:51But then after that, we went back in car,
16:53you're heading back on task.
16:54That bygones are bygones.
16:56Let's just move forward with it.
16:57Well, you were a joy to watch and that TV selling will go down in history.

17:10but unfortunately, he was price dropped straight out of the process.

17:50You looked in your element in a silver onesie.

17:55I had it specially tailored from my hips.
17:57But you know, I was like looking at that.
17:59I was like, that is me.

18:00And that is me in my element where I'm comfortable.
18:03And I was like, there's different times where this competition brings out
18:06a little bit of insecurity.
18:07Yeah.
18:07And you put up a guarded front.
18:09But when I knew I was going to shine or excel like that, I look at that and I was
18:13like,
18:13that's me.
18:14Wow.
18:14So the pitching, the entertainment, the corporate, like that's your...
18:17That's my gig.
18:19And I was like, I'm solely responsible for myself and my element.
18:22I knew what I'm going to do.
18:23I was like, I'm going to come here and harness and execute.
18:24Conor, you've just watched the TV selling task.
18:27Okay.
18:27How did you feel hearing that praise from Lord Sugar and Karen and Tim after you left?
18:34Emotional.
18:35I actually, I won't lie.
18:36Cause I was like that, that day I was so defeated.
18:40I was like, I cared so much about my team.
18:43And I felt I left them down by not selling anything.
18:47And I was like, from the get go, I was like, oh, this could be my week.
18:50And Roth, Nadal, Levi, Kieran, I was like, I adore them all.
18:53And I was like, I sold nothing.
18:54I was just like, I deserve to go home.
18:57And I wish I had felt the same way about myself that they were saying to me.
19:01So I actually went in there and fought for myself.
19:04Cause I was like looking at me.
19:05I was like, you can see my eyes are red.
19:06I was just, I was really upset.
19:08And it's a shame that it ended like that.
19:11But I felt like I deserved to go that week.
19:13And if there's anything that you've learned in business is you can't be defeated.
19:17You have to bounce back.
19:19And I think I was defeated that week.
19:20So rightfully, I think actually Lord Sugar saw that.
19:23And if you're looking for a business partner,
19:24you don't want someone who gets defeated over not selling in a bad day.
19:27But she's bounced back quick, babe.
19:28But that's what, yeah.
19:30Do you know what I mean?
19:31Kieran made a deal with Lord Sugar, okay?
19:33Yeah.
19:34So that he could stay.
19:35And you declined to even have that conversation.
19:38It was kind of gently offered anybody else?
19:41Yeah.
19:41In hindsight, do you wish you'd have played that differently?
19:44Do I wish I did it differently?
19:46No.
19:47At that moment, I actually thought I was like, well, I'm not winning.
19:49So I was like, well, I'm not winning.
19:51And then I was like, actually, I give a hundred percent every week.
19:55I have the highest sales, highest negotiations called out for clients pitching.
19:58I have shown you week after week.
20:00And I was like, if I'm going to progress in this competition, I want it to be based on merit.
20:04And I stood by that in that moment.
20:06Do I wish I got through to next week if I had said that?
20:09Yeah, of course.
20:09I'd like to see where it went.
20:10But I'm happy that I stuck to my morals and left.
20:14I thought it was quite punchy as well.
20:16Me too.
20:16It had sass.
20:18Yeah.
20:18You were like, no, I don't need to do that.
20:20I don't need to beg.
20:22You were self-assured.
20:22I don't need to beg.
20:23And I do think there was a moment where I thought, oh, yeah, he's just exposed.
20:27Kieran is a bit beggy.
20:28Yeah.
20:28I think this might go in your favor is what I thought.
20:32I thought that I had shown enough throughout the process to be considered investable.
20:36And I kind of said, I was like, well, if I go through to next week, I'm going to see
20:38the same again.
20:39I was like, I'm going to try and smash it out of the park again.
20:41Yeah.
20:41If you want to see that, take me through.
20:43But I was like, I can make this offer for you if you want.
20:45But that is not why I want to think that I'm brought through.
20:49In hindsight, I really wish you had, you know, because I'm like, yeah, Kieran, he fought.

22:29I think it was actually a good selling technique, but just maybe not with, you know, 70-year-old

22:37And maybe that is perhaps more of the kind of person that's at home watching than like
22:42you said, the gym bros who are actually down the gym.
22:44So I kind of saw the vision and I saw the passion.
22:47And I don't think you look defeated.
22:49I really thought you were giving it a good go.
22:51You were adamant that the product selection was key.
22:54You know, obviously.
22:56But did it feel like you went with products that teammates just were kind of excited about
23:01rather than thinking about what can we sell, sell, sell?
23:05So I would be very emotionally based and kind of storytelling based.
23:09And I wanted them to have products that they felt comfortable in selling and selling a story.
23:12So with Levi, he had the story about his work boots.
23:15With Ciaran, he was like, yeah, I use a yoga mat all the time.
23:17But I can't flex those hips for anything.
23:19So that's what I wanted them to be grounded in a story on the product.

23:24I mean, I could have and won, but I don't regret the choices I've made.

23:48Like you were kind of able to anticipate potential problems.

23:54Was that easier to do when you weren't PM?
23:57It's interesting because I was never going to be one who's going to be quiet and not take part.
24:01I wanted to be there from the front.
24:02I felt like I had something to prove from the get go because this is my energy.

24:06Then when it came to leadership and being PM, I did feel like I was like, oh, I actually
24:10do care about everyone else.
24:11And I probably wanted their approval rather than actually grabbing the bull by the horns
24:15and making the correct decisions.
24:16So again, a great learning from this.
24:18I lost as PM twice and once as sub PM.
24:20So I'm a terrible project manager.
24:22What was the biggest thing that you will take from the process?
24:26But looking back at the whole series, I was like, I just wish I was this version of myself
24:30the whole time.
24:30And you saw different moments that I excelled when I was like this or outselling and performing.
24:35And even the boardroom, I'm like, oh my God, who's that guy with red eyes crying?
24:38No.
24:38And I was like, I had so much built up energy that I was maybe conserving or performing
24:43a more refined version of myself.
24:46And I wish I just gave glamour.

27:46And you do have to play really as a team at this stage.
