00:04may be closed but the buzz of the final is far from over as we have a winner!
00:09Yes we do, I've got the first exclusive with Karishma plus runner-up Pasha will
00:15also be here. Lord Sugar's trusted eyes and ears Tim Campbell and Baroness Brady
00:19join me to chat everything from pressure to pitches and I finally managed to pin
00:24down the busiest man in business. Lord Sugar sits down with me to reflect on
00:2920 years of The Apprentice and gives his unfiltered take on our final two. It's
00:34time for The Apprentice, Unfinished Business!
00:40It's Tim and Karen everyone! Welcome! Okay 12 incredible tasks, it has all come to an end.
00:49The 20th series, there was lots riding on it, expectations. What are your standout moments?
00:56Well I think for me it's Hong Kong. I mean the boardroom there, the scenery, having Alan there
01:04was fantastic. I think it made, I mean the candidates really weren't expecting that. It was an interesting task because
01:12obviously a lot went wrong. But the scenery was fantastic, the ambience was good and taking it to a new
01:19level I thought really made an impact in the opening episode.
01:23Wonderful. What about you Tim? Standout moments?
01:26Hong Kong was brilliant, it was as Karen has said. But for me I was really interested in the technology
01:31elements that we were bringing to the series. The PT one was really...
01:36Oh I was really looking forward to that. And then we got bombarded with magical frogs. I don't remember where
01:41they came from so it would stand out maybe for the wrong reasons right?
01:45So I love the fact that every single season Lord Sugar is keen to push on what is happening in
01:52the real world and bring it into the series.
01:54But the candidates sometimes keep bringing the same mistakes that they bring for some of the series where they have
01:59to learn as they do on the task.
02:01Oh so your stink eye doesn't change? No. I had to feel what you were saying there but yes.
02:07I love it. That's also as consistent as Lord Sugar. Lots of familiar faces from over the past 20 years
02:14joined for pitching stages.
02:15So we had Nick and we had Margaret, also had some previous winners, Dean and Ricky and Leah and Tom
02:21and Marnie.
02:22How was it having, you know, the alumni so to speak back in one room?
02:26Oh it was great wasn't it? I mean the thing is everybody gets on so well and we're all friends.
02:33I've been on holiday with Alan, Claude has been there, Nick has been there, we've all been together, we're all
02:39good friends.
02:39Who picks up the cheque do you mind me asking?
02:41Well I couldn't possibly say that. We take it in turns.
02:45But it's Alan's boat. I should put it like that. His yacht I should say. The boat is underselling it
02:53somewhat.
02:54So no but everyone gets on well. We all have one thing in common, that we all want to see
02:59the show be a success.
03:00We all want to see it as a vehicle for people to get into business so it's great.
03:06Well you know I do think that kind of energy in the room and the support and that sense of,
03:10you know, a young person, Karishma in this case,
03:12starting out on their journey to know that actually you're kind of joining a little family really.
03:17A little club and it's great to see the candidates who are coming back and celebrating their fantastically successful business.
03:22Look at Dr Leia and her brilliant company. You've got Tom, you've got Ricky Martin.
03:26So for those candidates at the final, to see what they could potentially walk in, I think it upped that
03:31level and they really delivered.
03:33It was the beginning of the beginning, not the beginning of the end, right?
03:36I know. You should trademark that. I should do this.
03:41So, normally at this stage of the show, Lord Sugar sends me a little voice note, OK?
03:45I've become very accustomed to them but this time I caught up with them face to face to reflect on
03:5020 years of The Apprentice.
03:52Let's have a look.
03:53Hello, Lord Sugar. Hello.
03:55Thank you for joining me today, 20 years in.
04:00Right.
04:01Did you think you'd get to this point on the show?
04:03Honestly speaking, no.
04:05Was it 2005 or something like that or 2004 was when we recorded the first one and I thought,
04:13well, it's been great, exciting, interesting but never ever thought it would run on this long.
04:19Yeah.
04:19We've got a picture of you from 2005.
04:23Yeah.
04:23Not much has changed.
04:24Quite a handsome fellow.
04:26I didn't realise that.
04:27I didn't realise that.
04:28But the finger's the same, isn't it, really?
04:30It's that stay the same.
04:30The hairline is pretty good.
04:32Yeah, that's true.
04:33It's true.
04:34What's the secret?
04:35I don't know, really.
04:37I do a lot of exercise, I suppose, and running businesses.
04:42Keeps you fresh.
04:44It feels like there's been a change in that, initially, you were looking for an apprentice,
04:49somebody who'd work, you know, under you, so to speak.
04:53Yeah.
04:53Now we're looking for entrepreneurs.
04:55Has that massively changed the game for you?
04:57The original format was that people would come to work for me, and I would give them a six-figure
05:04job, okay?
05:05And back in 2005, a six-figure job was quite a lot of money.
05:10And so you could imagine the kind of resentment and possible disruption that it caused within my company.
05:19So I changed it after about series six to this 50-50 business deal, which is great.
05:27That's what's really kept me at it.
05:28So the calibre of the winners are different because they're entrepreneurs, they're my partners.
05:35And as I say to them, look, you're the expert, you're the one who knows what you're supposed to be
05:41doing in this business.
05:42I'm just there to tell you what not to do.
05:45So are you looking for someone who compliments you or are you kind of looking for a person that you
05:51think,
05:51oh, that's a bit of me?
05:52No.
05:53No.
05:54No, a bit of me.
05:55You won't find a bit of me anywhere.
05:58One of a kind.
05:59No.
06:00No, I'm looking for someone who's got that entrepreneurial spirit, some spark of brilliance, if you like.
06:09This year, two brilliant finalists to pick between and you have officially hired Karishma as your next business partner.
06:17How close was it between herself?
06:18Very close.
06:19It's always close.
06:20If ever there's a feeling of guilt that I have, it is telling one of them that they've not won.
06:29And as far as Pasha is concerned, she's very young.
06:32So she's got a lot to look forward to, quite frankly.
06:36And she's done tremendously well to get through at that age.
06:39And what was it about Karishma's businessman that gave her the edge?
06:43Well, cosmetics is one of my favourite subjects.
06:47One of my first businesses that I went into as a young man was cosmetics, simply because,
06:54how can I put this in the nicest possible way, the margins are tremendously high.
07:00Yes.
07:00So something that costs ten pence, for example, can end up being sold for two pounds.
07:06Mm-hm.
07:06And the other thing is, is that she's, you know, she's a scientist.
07:11She's a social media influencer.
07:13She's a social media influencer.
07:14Stand-up comedian, arguably.
07:16Yeah, yeah.
07:16Yeah.
07:17At the final, she made everybody laugh.
07:20Yeah.
07:20Which is great.
07:21She shows she's got a personality.
07:23Mm-hm.
07:23And she's really a grafter.
07:25She really is.
07:26And that's what I like about her.
07:28In terms of expansion and the next steps in the partnership, what happens?
07:32Well, basically, she's going to have to sit down, listen to what I would like her to do,
07:39and that is to spread the portfolio.
07:42She cannot succeed with one product only.
07:45She needs a range of products.
07:47The next thing, and the most important thing, is who's she going to sell it to?
07:52How's she going to go about selling it?
07:54And I think she's a big TikTok influencer.
07:57Mm-hm.
07:57I don't know whether that's enough.
08:01Possibly, it could be, and I'll be guided by her.
08:06She tells me it is.
08:07But, you know, I've had other experiences in the cosmetics business with previous candidates
08:15of The Apprentice that have sold cosmetics in a different way.
08:21Maybe we could always adapt the ways of selling.
08:25So, more products and methodology of selling.
08:31Brilliant.
08:31Well, thank you so much.
08:32I know you're a busy man.
08:33It was a pleasure.

08:35And you're doing a great job.

08:48Well, enough about Lord Sugar's Cardigan.
08:50What did you make of the final two?
08:54Two fabulous, professional, young women making their way in the world with real personality,
09:01real passion, real desire to be successful.
09:04They've found something they're good at, and they want to open a business to work hard,
09:09to have control over their life, to have their independence, and open their own business,
09:13and I think it's wonderful.
09:14Was there a moment for you, Tim, that you thought, oh, these could be our final two?
09:20I think what I've definitely learned alongside Baroness Brady is that you can never predict
09:24what's going to happen, because the candidates grow throughout the process, and some people
09:29start up here, and they make a mistake, they learn from that, and they come back again.
09:32But I think seeing them on the first show in Hong Kong, I remember seeing Karishma running
09:39up and down the street and thinking, she doesn't really like this, but she's giving 100%.
09:43And that was really important.
09:44And then you had Pasha, with lots of energy, wanting to try everything.
09:48And what we always say around good candidates, and you see it with Dean, who won last year,
09:53who had an established business very similar to the Karishma, and then we've had younger
09:56candidates as well.
09:56What we're actually looking for is people who give 100%, because you're in unfamiliar territory.
10:01Definitely so with Hong Kong when they started out, and through every single task.
10:05But if you're willing to try really hard, that's probably a good indicator.
10:09Both of them did that from the very beginning.
10:10Okay, well, it is time to welcome our fabulous runner-up, Pasha, who may not have secured the
10:16investment, but with wisdom beyond her years, she certainly made her mark in the process.
10:20Let's remind ourselves of why she is one of our final two.
10:24Hello, everyone.
10:25It is an absolute pleasure to be here today.
10:29Now, I started in recruitment as a rookie three years ago.
10:32And three years later, I'm stood here on this stage, the youngest ever candidate to be here at 21.
10:40So it's an honour and a dream come true.
10:42My passion for the recruitment world is unlike no other.
10:46I live and breathe this job.
10:49It's Pasha, everybody.
10:51Welcome.
10:51Thank you for having me.
10:52This is a glow-up.
10:54We're into it.
10:55You entered my glow-up.
10:56I know.
10:56I've changed my look.
10:57I'm in my alter ego persona now.

11:05I'm not planning on going back.

11:14Absolutely.

11:18Congratulations, Pasha, on making it to the final two.
11:22How was it watching that back?
11:24Emotional.
11:24I actually got really emotional watching it back.
11:26It's such an amazing moment and I'm so grateful for the opportunity.
11:32And I think being the youngest to ever go to the final, for me, I did have a lot of
11:37pressure on my back.
11:38But ultimately watching it back, I was like, yeah, I did well for myself.
11:42I'm really, really proud.
11:44I mean, age aside, you did incredibly well.
11:46And obviously your age came up quite a bit.
11:49Was there any part of you that felt like actually that allowed you to be underestimated a bit?
11:56Definitely underestimated.
11:57I think walking in at the beginning and it being a known fact that I was the youngest in the
12:02room, people definitely underestimated me.
12:04But that just gave me the push to show them otherwise.
12:07And I'm a big person for age is just a number.
12:11So don't underestimate me because at your peril.
12:15I also think there's something about the kind of spark and the wild naivete maybe that comes with being younger,
12:23where you don't adhere to the rules, the so-called rules.
12:25You're maybe less encumbered by the rules.
12:29I think your age wasn't the factor.
12:31The reality was that you came in, you were fierce from the beginning, you stood your ground and you weren't
12:36ever willing or shy of defending your position.
12:39So I think people from day one had to respect you.
12:41And I think what you show, hopefully lots of young women who are watching, that you should stand in your
12:46own power from beginning, make no excuses and just deliver, not be judged by anyone else's standards, by the standards
12:51you set yourself.
12:52Yeah, that was the goal.
12:53It's also quite liberating because you've nothing to lose and everything to gain.
12:57Yeah, 100%.
12:58So all you have to do is try your best, keep your focus, show what you're good at, and everything
13:05is an opportunity.
13:06Yeah.
13:06And I think that's how I saw you approach it.
13:09And I presume you learnt quite a lot through the process, did you?
13:13So much.
13:13Absolutely so much.
13:14Not only in the business world, but in myself and personal growth.
13:17What you're capable of.
13:18Yeah.
13:19My mum always says, have your wits about you.
13:20And I always have my wits about me.
13:22And actually, after the first boardroom, I had a lot of candidates come up to me and say, the way
13:27that you spoke up in the boardroom really allowed me to enter that sort of more dominant persona, which they
13:34didn't have to begin with.
13:35So that was really nice to hear from people that are a lot older than me and have a lot
13:40more business experience was, yeah, really nice.
13:42Let's talk about your business rebrand.
13:46Yes.
13:46Because we went from the controversial, maybe, Anne call, which you were quite steadfast in to real approach recruitment.
13:55Do you stand by dropping Anne now?
13:58I completely stand by dropping Anne.
14:01Initially, I was, yeah, I was like, I'm not moving away from this.
14:04I want it to be named after me.
14:05It's personable.
14:06And ultimately, obviously, if you're calling up care homes, calling up candidates, they know straight away, oh, Anne's calling.
14:12And it is personable. But then not only did it sound like a body part, which probably is the best
14:18thing to hear.
14:19But actually, until she said it, I never heard it.
14:21Now I can't get out of my head.
14:23Yeah.
14:24But dropping it down to actually something that told a story at the end of the day.
14:28And that is what I wanted to pursue.
14:31Telling a story.
14:32They know what we do straight away.
14:34It's a real approach.
14:35But you had the support of some familiar faces.
14:38Obviously, you went straight with Megan, your bestie.
14:42Was it great having her there for emotional support at this pivotal time?
14:45Yeah, throughout the house, we just clicked straight away.
14:48And we are very, very close now.
14:50She's one of my closest friends.
14:52So, yeah, having her back was amazing.
14:55Got emotional after the pitch.
14:56It meant as much as her than it did to me as well.
15:00And she really came across.
15:01Yeah, she could see how much I wanted there as well.
15:04So, yeah, it was great to have familiar faces.
15:07I think I picked a good team.
15:08They were brilliant.
15:09And they really helped.
15:10How did they do on the ad side of things?
15:14Seeing the ad, I think they smashed it.
15:17Because they really did tell the story of what I wanted them to capture.
15:20And it's about the struggles and about having, you know, the real approach
15:24and us being there and actually being face to face with managers.
15:28In the boardroom, you were very clear that you're going to go ahead with the business regardless of investment.
15:33Is that still the case?
15:35It is definitely still the case because I have a passion for it.
15:38And I don't want to stop doing it because this is what I'm made to do.
15:42And the care industry is very important to me.
15:44So, yeah, 100% I'm going to do it.
15:47Maybe a few years.
15:47I think I'm going to take a step back, enjoy recruitment and billing and doing what I do best for
15:54a while.
15:54Make it some money.
15:55Understand the industry.
15:56Yeah.
15:57Understand the industry and actually the management side of things because I am young.
16:01I haven't been in that management side of the business.
16:03So, yeah, 25.
16:05That's what I've said.
16:06By 25, I'm going to have my own company.
16:08It was a very close decision, Lord Sugar said.
16:12What will you take away from the experience?
16:15Honestly, like my life will change because of the experience now.
16:18And I really do feel a lot more positive about going into the big wide world in business because of
16:23this.
16:24Yeah, it's made a big difference to how I see things now.
16:28And standout moments?
16:31I think, honestly, getting to the final and actually having that one-on-one time with Lord Sugar to pitch
16:37myself to him and for him to see that was obviously my highlight.
16:42And then I'd probably say Egypt was one of my favourite tasks.
16:47You loved Egypt.
16:48I loved Egypt.
16:48You and that little buggy turn around the desert.
16:50It was fab.
16:51She was living her best life.
16:53When can you ever say that you've done a tour in the desert in Egypt?
16:56And called it a work day.
16:57I know.
16:58Yeah, it was fabulous.
16:59And obviously meeting Megan was just the cherry on the cake.
17:02Pasha, honestly, such a pleasure.
17:04An absolute incredible achievement to land as a runner-up.
17:08And you've been amazing to watch.

17:29Believe it or not, that is what my skin looked like when I was 18 years old.
17:33And it completely consumed me.
17:35I had acne.
17:36I had scarring.
17:37I was so insecure.
17:39And I turned to pretty much every skincare brand out there.
17:43A lot of you are sitting in the audience here today.
17:44So thank you for supporting me on my skin journey.
17:47Unfortunately, nothing worked for too long.

19:11And I always thought it was my partner.

19:20This was never written in the stars for me or in the cards for me.
19:24I just didn't see it happening for me.
19:26And I have said this before.

19:28The Apprentice was something that never crossed my mind.
19:30It fell in...
19:32I had to do it because I had no money left.
19:34So I was like, I'm gonna do this and I'll probably go home after Hong Kong.
19:38And I ended up making it here.
19:40And I'm...
19:41I'm just so happy that Lord Sugar chose me.
19:44It's so interesting your perception of how you performed and appeared in the series versus the reality, I think.
19:51Because from the very beginning, it felt like you did not come to play.
19:56There was no intention of you leaving after Hong Kong or any other time.
20:00Did that feel like...
20:01Was that you trying to convince yourself?
20:03For a long time, I've needed to turn my life around.
20:06And I put every single night into it.
20:08Every single moment I can into turning this business into a success.
20:11So when I say in business, I have no fear.
20:15But in life, I'm just...
20:16I'm just a very regular person.
20:18And I can't...
20:19I just cannot believe this is my life right now.

21:08And I believe you when you say you won't let them down.
21:10Yeah, I won't.
21:11But I'm glad Lord Sugar saw it in me.
21:14And, you know, he said that, you know, it's hard to be a bit of him
21:18and you have to really impress him.
21:19And that was like me from the beginning.
21:22How do I make myself noticed?
21:23Because sometimes I'm a bit shy, I'm a bit quiet, I'm a bit introverted.
21:27Really?
21:28Yeah.
21:29For sure.
21:29I am.
21:30I feel like in the house as well, like, a lot of people ripped me off from the beginning.
21:33But there's this thing, we were seeing you and we felt that you had this larger than life personality.
21:39The important thing I felt was that you made your work do the talking.
21:43It wasn't about what you looked like.
21:45It was like, look at the results, this is what I do.
21:47You led with the fact that you were clever, you were smart, you were articulate.
21:51And you weren't going to just take the easy route.
21:52From Hong Kong, when you were doing the negotiation, making that silly song, right?
21:56Right through to the very end.
21:58The local mahjong.
21:58It's still a good song.
22:00It's still a good song.
22:01You were.
22:01I stand by it.
22:03Yeah.
22:03But you were a grafter.
22:05And I think Lord Sugar saw that from the beginning and really values that work ethic.
22:09But also you managed from the get go to show your personality.
22:13So many of those tasks were kind of like a bit of me.
22:16And when I was explaining the task, Lord Sugar would say, this is what you're doing this week.
22:20I would sit there thinking, I've somehow managed to get lucky again this week.
22:25But I also realized I'm incredibly adaptive.
22:28I didn't know that about myself.
22:29Honestly, I came here and I'm like, wait, I know how to get doughnuts.
22:33I know how to communicate with people.
22:35You know, in Arabic, like the two, three words I knew came in handy in Egypt.
22:39Like you really have to adapt.
22:41And I saw that side of me come out.
22:43And now every single day in business, I think if this was a task, how do I win?
22:47From like, I did an exhibition recently where I was selling and pulling people out of a crowd of 3
22:51,000 to sell.
22:53And I had my biggest, most successful weekend ever.
22:55A 20 grand weekend, which I've never had ever.
22:57And that was what I learned from selling flowers in the market.
23:00So this is going to be the reason I make it.
23:04This process, those 12 weeks.
23:06Let's talk Be The Sun.
23:08Because much like the other challenges that you led,
23:10you went in with an absolutely crystal clear vision on this one.
23:14Did it go the way you imagined?
23:16It went better than I imagined.
23:18My team was so solid.
23:20There was no ego there.
23:21This is a combined dream now.
23:23We have to take it to the win.
23:24And I was honoured to have those people on my team.
23:26They did better than I could have anticipated.
23:29And I had Rodna by my side.
23:30That girl knows skincare inside out, just like me.
23:33So that was probably an insane match.
23:36That's why it went well.
23:37And I was very proud of it.
23:39Lord Sugar was not convinced on the name.
23:41How does that work out?
23:43Well, it's gone.
23:43If he doesn't like it, it's done.
23:45You really impressed from the get-go with that confidence that we all saw.
23:49But you mentioned Rothner.
23:51And when she left the process, I think I was certainly surprised.
23:55I think others were surprised by your response to her leaving.
23:59And the significance you placed on her as a kind of partner in your corner.
24:03And how she got you through the process.
24:07It's crazy how much you emotionally start depending on people in the process.
24:10Because you are tested in all ways that you can imagine.
24:14And for me, as a person, it's always been a little bit harder to make friends.
24:18I feel like I'm a little bit different.
24:19And sometimes it's harder for me to make friends.
24:21But I think Rothner saw that I need her.
24:24She needs me.
24:25And we really got each other through it.
24:27Your dad was a kind of driving force.
24:31And, you know, came up as the kind of inspiration and that, like, energy, I think,
24:38that was ever present, really.
24:40I always say, you know, Lord Sugar will teach me the ropes
24:43when my dad invented the ropes.
24:44So he honestly deserves all the praise in the world.
24:47That man changed my life and I have to do the same for him.
24:50And I will.
24:51I will.
24:51And this whole thing was so that I could just get us a home.
24:55And I hope that it's in the cards for us now.
24:58Because we deserve it.
24:59We've worked very hard.
25:00We've been hustling.
25:01When The Apprentice first promo came out and it was Hustlers Gonna Hustle,
25:05I said, okay, well, that's my line.
25:07I've been saying this.
25:08You know, I don't.
25:09I'm not, you know, I'm rough around the edges.
25:12But it sells.
25:13Realness sells.
25:14It was very clear that you had a very solid foundation.
25:18Because, as you said, there was a lot happening in through the process.
25:22You knew the North Star for yourself, where it was supposed to be.
25:26And every time you'd come up, whether it was your playing with your fingers or saying your affirmations to yourself,
25:30we were always seeing these little, little things that you did.
25:33And actually, it always powered you onto the next stage.
25:36And that's really, really important for people to understand.
25:41Karen, what do you think gave Karishma the edge for Lord Sugar?
25:45I think he absolutely saw your drive and your passion.
25:50I think he liked the fact that you turned your hand to everything that was put at you.
25:55And that you had some real wins.
25:58I mean, I'm talking about wins where the reason that task was won was because of you.
26:04And in some cases, only because of you.
26:07And at this level, as an investor, when you're investing in someone, it's not so much the idea as the
26:14person.
26:15And I think he saw that whatever you do, you're going to do it well.
26:19You're going to make him proud, as you've made yourself and your family proud.
26:22And you're not going to let him down.

27:08So I feel like I spent seven years building that online, only for me to be able to say it

27:16And yes, for my brand, this is the very beginning.
27:19And more products are coming, so much is in development, huge campaigns.
27:23I want to really see my brand on billboards grow so quickly.
