01:04It did feel like there was a flavour of that where he was like,

01:52Well, I think anybody in this series who has tried to cosy up, and I'm choosing the words
01:58very precisely, cosy up to Lord Sugar, I think has ended up getting binned off.
02:03I think it's such a terrible move because he can smell it coming.

02:08Cos I do think had he said Levi for this reason, that reason, he could have pulled something

02:24So the fact that he didn't do, he didn't, he wasn't the voice in the face of the game.

02:44But Lawrence, yes, he made mistakes, but he owned them and that counts for a lot.

02:53He can sell and I like that.
02:56But mark my words, one more slip from anyone and it might not be such a lucky escape.

03:22Back at the house, Lawrence was beyond embarrassed about the decisions that he made to bring the

03:32Well, I quite like that Lawrence felt embarrassed because it does feel like when they get into
03:35the boardroom, it is every person for themselves.
03:37And it has to be.
03:38I mean, that's the point of it, isn't it?
03:40And you sort of see them afterwards say, you know, sorry, or, you know, I'm glad you made
03:44it through.
03:44There is some camaraderie there, but this is a process.
03:48Business is tough.
03:48And they're trying to win investment from Lord Sugar.
03:51And I think the fact that he was embarrassed.
03:53I've never seen anyone that embarrassed in The Apprentice.

04:24And I imagine sitting in that boardroom, survival of the fittest.
04:27Instincts kick in and whatever loyalty you have or whatever the reality is kind of goes out the window.
04:32Well, Levi's going to be project manager next week.

04:34And he'll be doing the same thing.
04:36Because, you know, whatever happens, I think out of all of The Apprentice shows that I've watched, it's very rarely
04:41that something goes right.
04:43It's normally who goes less wrong is how it normally works.

04:49I thought the flower task was one of the few rare, rare moments where they both had a clear idea
04:54of what they wanted.

05:03And it will be from him being, oh, you know, you shouldn't have brought me back in.

11:23Because it felt like, okay, Levi, you're up.
11:25He's ready to embody that PT, you know, persona.
11:30And then he's benched.
11:35I'm not 100% sure it was the wrong decision.
11:37I think Levi's great, but he wasn't doing a lot else.
11:40And the fact that, yes, he could have been the PT, he could have been that person.
11:42He wasn't allowed to do a lot else.
11:43I know, but surely he should have been a bit more forceful.
11:47It was probably the wrong thing to do for Lawrence in the end, as we saw through, you
11:50know, he ended up bringing Levi back in and we saw the whole thing and the embarrassment
11:53went with it.
11:55But to all intents and purposes, it didn't really matter in the moment.
11:58Why do you think he did that to Levi?
12:01I just don't think, I seriously think Lawrence just wanted to kind of just do everything
12:05himself.
12:06But maybe if you put yourself on the line, there's that thing of they can't say, well,
12:10you didn't do enough.

12:11Because I think in Lawrence's defense, what he kind of said was, we thought that it was
12:16a physical requirement, like that it was, we needed a personal trainer.

12:21And in reality, it was more of an acting role.
12:23And then there was a kind of reference to his neutral accent, which I think Levi then
12:29felt was he had been demoted because of his Yorkshire twang.
12:34I mean, no one likes accents, do they?

14:52So there was a kind of sense that, okay, we'll have him in our back pocket and we get

14:59So there was a chat about your lack of contribution, but you kind of mentioned that you were
15:05maybe excluded from the process.
15:09What was going on?
15:10I mean, it was very, very difficult to try and get my points across.
15:15I mean, I felt like Pasha and Ross, they were both very passionate about what they were
15:18trying to create.

15:21The demonised frogs.
15:24Yeah, I just didn't quite understand the concept.
15:26I really wanted to try and deter away from the frogs, but they weren't listening.

15:31Well, if you would have picked something else, what would you have picked instead of the frogs?
15:34I mean, to be fair, I mean, my actual initial concept for this game was more of a fitness
15:40kind of route.
15:41So my suggestion was...

15:44I mean, the actual game itself, my idea was to have like a game of which you're running
15:49from the forest and collecting ingredients to like make a new recipe.
15:53So you're actually learning like protein kind of meals and juices.
15:58That's great.
15:59Also, carrot on a string.
16:01Like nothing encourages me to work out more than the promise of food at the end.

16:04And then the good thing about it was, as you're doing the game, not only are you working out,
16:08but you're also learning new recipes of which are healthy.

16:22How did you feel Lawrence was as PM?
16:25You know what?
16:26I felt like...
16:27I think he meant well.
16:28I think he thought he was going to do a great job in terms of actually delivering upon
16:33that.
16:33It just wasn't quite there.
16:35I mean, this whole concept about life insurance and I don't know where he was going
16:39with that.
16:40I liked that.
16:40I think the idea of life insurance, if you need to encourage people to do it, if you
16:43talk about the fact your life insurance is going to cost £100 a year, but if you work
16:47out on this game and you're going to do it once a week for 52 weeks a year, your life
16:51insurance comes down by 50%.
16:52I think there's a real incentive there.
16:54So I actually didn't mind that idea.
16:55Yeah.
16:55If not life insurance, something about bringing costs down for fitness benefits.
16:59I actually didn't mind it.
17:00I thought it was clever, but it was slightly aside from the point of the task maybe.
17:05If you had been PM, aside from the game idea, how would you have handled the team differently?
17:12Well, I mean, being a part of the design process, I mean, in hindsight, if I was PM,
17:17I would have made sure I gave a very clear brief in the morning to say, these are the
17:21things I want to be involved in the game in terms of design element and the process.
17:25You know, we want to be seeing these kind of characters or these kind of colours or this
17:28kind of environment.
17:30We would just try to wing it and it didn't work.
17:33Frogs.
17:33It seems like you were put off by it.
17:35Like you kind of just, not that you didn't care, but it was just a bit like, well, if
17:40the, if the, you know, the main person that's supposed to be giving me the structure is not
17:44being clear, then I don't know where else to take it.
17:47But then this is where you guys have to kind of really show, you know, what you're, what
17:51you're there for.
17:52Yeah.
17:53So, but it seemed like you were kind of just like.
17:55Over it.
17:56Over, yes.
17:57I just knew that every kind of point I was making was not being put across.
18:01Like they weren't, they just wasn't listening to my input.
18:03It wasn't landing.
18:03That's why I was like, like, I was, I didn't put myself on the background or anything like
18:07that.
18:07I was still giving contributions throughout the actual game itself.
18:10And I put quite a lot of elements within the game itself.
18:13Um, but yeah, it just got to a point where I was like, we're doomed.
18:18Yeah.
18:19Can I, can I, my favorite contribution you made was when you said, just cause you bake
18:23a cake doesn't make you Mr. Kipling.
18:25I thought I was that moment.
18:27I was like, wow.
18:28Okay.
18:28Let's see how that comes back.
18:30Do you know what it is?
18:30I think with the show, right?
18:32You have to be so careful with the other, all the candidates.
18:34And you weren't there.
18:36And then just forgot about it.

18:38I did, I did lose my rag a little bit.
18:40It was a very high stressed environment.
18:42And they just kept going along the route.
18:44I think in the morning I must've mentioned, oh, when I was a kid, I must've played a video
18:48game.
18:49And then immediately I was branded as this gamer.
18:52And it just kept on being repeated all day until the point where he was niggling me.
18:55And then it just got to the point where I just erupted.
18:56And I was like, just because I've played a game does not make me a gamer.
19:00If you bake a cake, I wouldn't call you a baker.
19:05I thought it was a pretty good line, a bit savage, but like.
19:08I thought it was a great line and it landed so badly.
19:10I know, I know.
19:11So badly.
19:12I think in the boardroom as well, Baroness Brady picked up on it and she looked at me
19:16and she went, oh, that was rude.
19:18And I was like, oh God, what have I done?
19:20You're done, you're done.
19:21Yeah.
19:22You left the processor agent without ever having the chance to be PM.
19:26Was that a conscious decision or were you hanging around waiting for the right task?
19:30No, I mean, it definitely wasn't conscious.
19:32I mean, I put myself up for PM twice.
19:34But I think in terms of being sub-PM though, of which I was twice.
19:38Yeah.
19:39And you won twice as sub-PM.
19:41Exactly.
19:42We're both with the corporate negotiations on that side of the deal as well.
19:45I don't think being sub-PM, you don't get enough flowers for it.
19:48Because just because, you know, you're not the PM.
19:51If you do lose a task as a sub-PM, you're immediately looked upon to be brought back.
19:56Just as accountable as the PM itself.
19:59So, I mean, to answer your question, I would have loved to have been PM.
20:02But I'm very happy with the two times that I was sub-PM.
20:05You didn't offer yourself to pitch the game, right?
20:09Do you still stand by that decision?
20:11Because it kind of came back to haunt you, didn't it?
20:13You know what?
20:13It bit me in the backside in the boardroom.
20:16I feel like it was the right thing to do, in my opinion.
20:19I don't take, I don't regret that decision.
20:21I feel like with all of my negotiations throughout the actual season itself,
20:26you could tell I was very passionate about what I was doing.
20:29I just didn't get that from this game.
20:31And I knew that you can't pitch something if you're not passionate about it.
20:35So I just felt like Rothner, Pasha and Lawrence were the right people to do that.
20:40But then you had lots of, on the sidelines, you had lots of things to say.
20:44It felt like there was definitely a bit of passion there.
20:46There was passion, but I just didn't really believe in the product that we created.
20:50But surely you have sold stuff and pitched stuff in your career that you've not believed in.
20:54What?
