00:06Today on Wheeler Dealer France, I'm on the hunt for a German car that can bring in a lot of money, a BMW
00:122002.
00:14Wow, that car, what a crazy thing! It's small, but it really makes an impression.
00:19What !
00:20This legendary sports car is very popular with well-heeled enthusiasts.
00:24It has become a legend, and a legend inevitably comes at a price.
00:27For a good example today, you still have to expect to pay around 100,000 euros.
00:32We took a huge risk by breaking up our slag heaps because we have a colossal construction project on our hands.
00:36No, but wait, it's completely rotten.
00:37She attacked a little.
00:39Oh no no, it's rotten, it's rotten all the way down.
00:41My name is Jerry. My goal is to scour the automotive market to find gems to restore.
00:47Beyond 69, I promise I can't go any higher. 69,000 is a bit much for me.
00:53wrong.
00:54Aurélien, my mechanical expert, is going to have to bend over backwards.
00:57to restore the shine to our acquisition worth nearly 70,000 euros.
01:00A real challenge.
01:03In addition to the injection, I also need to take care of the manifold.
01:05This is starting to add up.
01:07What is this? Coolant?
01:09There's also the water pump. Okay, let's add it to the list.
01:13The goal is to smash our profit record. We really need to deliver.
01:18Come see this, come see, come see.
01:19Phew.
01:20Yeah, there are still some removed there.
01:22What do you mean? It's almost smooth here.
01:23It needs to be perfectly smooth like your skull, you see.
01:25Nickel.
01:38So, Moselle, I agree, it's not exactly next door, but today, it's
01:42It's not the mileage that's going to scare me.
01:43I'm going to see one of the sports cars that most marked its generation, the BMW 2002 Turbo.
01:48There isn't a German car enthusiast who hasn't dreamed of owning one at some point.
01:53It has become a legend.
01:54And a legend, of course, comes at a price.
01:56For a good example today, you still have to expect to pay around 100,000 euros.
02:00And even then, only if you can find one.
02:03Produced in only 1672 units between 1973 and 1974, the 2002 Turbo quickly
02:11imposed as a benchmark.
02:13Compared to the Porsche 911 and other Alfa Romeo Giulia models, this little German car defied the competition.
02:17with a technology that was not very widespread at the time.
02:20The Turbo, allowing its liter engine to reach a power of 170 horsepower.
02:25With a top speed of over 200 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds, the 2002 Turbo
02:30has
02:30has managed to establish herself among the best female athletes of the moment.
02:33And even today, with its slightly muscular look, it's one of the cars of
02:37the most sought-after collection, so its value has literally exploded.
02:41From 20,000 euros at the beginning of the 2000s, its budget has since increased fivefold.
02:46Needless to say, finding an interesting and affordable copy is almost mission impossible.
03:00Well, the one I'm going to see is advertised at only 75,000 euros.
03:04At that price, let's not get carried away, it's not a concours-level state car.
03:07According to the owner, there's a little bit of corrosion and I really hope it's not
03:10Not too serious.
03:11In any case, a BMW 2002 at that price, frankly, I wouldn't mind going to see it.
03:18Ah, that's where she's hiding, me, the Bavarian one.
03:21Awesome.
03:22Come on.
03:32Ah, that car, what an amazing thing.
03:35She's small in stature, but she certainly makes an impression.
03:38Awesome.
03:55Hello, Philippe.
03:56Hello, Jerry.
03:57Welcome.
03:58Thank you, thank you, thank you.
04:00Ah, so here's your baby.
04:01Yes, that's the 2002 Turbo.
04:03I'm going to confess something to you.
04:04Since we talked on the phone, I haven't been able to sleep.
04:07A 2002 Turbo for sale, but why? You've got a real gem on your hands here.
04:11That's hiding something, isn't it?
04:13No, it's a car I've had for over 20 years.
04:16which I drive very little or hardly at all.
04:18A car that stays on the track, that doesn't move, is a car that dies somewhere, isn't it?
04:21There is a problem, there is a word I don't like, and that is the word corrosion.
04:24There is rust there.
04:26So, naturally, right there, I can already see that there are some at the bottom of the doors.
04:28There's a hole right there in the door.
04:30This is a car that has lived here in Moselle, and has suffered a little from the effects of weathering.
04:37salt,
04:37and then it is in its original state.
04:40It has never been restored.
04:41The chassis, can you take a look at it?
04:42Yes, yes, no problem.
04:43So, what's it about?
04:46Oh my god, yeah!
04:50That's not just a little bit of rust, is it?
04:52It is well perforated.
04:54That's a bit of a cold shower.
04:59What story does the trunk tell?
05:02The disease was also of that era, following this model.
05:04Wow! That's the spare tire well.
05:06I put my finger through, I go right through, I see the ground, it's crazy.
05:10I was really looking forward to seeing her, but now I'm a little rushed, all the same.
05:13However, it has its original interior, and it's a car with only 125,000 km.
05:21Ah, I must admit, I need a little pick-me-up.
05:23And that, it's true, that seems pretty good, you know.
05:25The door panels are really very, very beautiful.
05:27It's original imitation leather, with period Recaro seats.
05:32which were in the 2002 Turbo, as well as the red-fire colored steering wheel and dashboard.
05:36Okay.
05:39The dashboard is spotless, all those little gauges and everything.
05:41We're really in the sporting spirit of the 70s.
05:44It's a joy to be behind the wheel of this car.
05:45The interior is in a state of preservation, but exceptional.
05:48This car is actually two-faced.
05:50As much as when we arrive, the rocker panels want to run away,
05:52but the rest is truly intact.
05:54So, I have a big question.
05:56If you assure me that the engine is in the same condition as the interior,
05:59This might save the story.
06:01Can you buy an eye?
06:02You can buy an eye.
06:03Come on.
06:06SO...
06:06Ah!
06:07It looks clean, this little 2-liter one.
06:09Yes, it is.
06:10At this point, it already seems to be the case.
06:12There isn't too much corrosion.
06:13Do you know a little bit about the history of this engine?
06:14I am following the vehicle's history.
06:16Since I don't drive it much, I've done some maintenance.
06:19But anyway, it deserves a little overhaul.
06:22Transmission, is everything alright?
06:23Is the turbo working?
06:24He's breathing well, yes.
06:25Are you going for a ride?
06:27The Holy Grail!
06:28Alright, let's go!
06:50So, while there are cars that bring a smile and a happy feeling, there are also...
06:55'others, like this one, which will definitely give you goosebumps.
07:00Note that I'm not talking about speed.
07:01I'm talking about the rarity of the vehicle.
07:03This one, though, has a 2002 turbo engine.
07:04It sold fewer than 1700 copies.
07:06Just that alone makes me feel a little privileged today.
07:20But no, that said, we'll still see what it's like.
07:23Alright, let's go!
07:26She's getting worked up now.
07:304500, 5000.
07:31I'm moving on to three.
07:34Oh yes, indeed!
07:35Ah, Grandma, she's speeding up, isn't she!
07:37Oh my god!
07:38It's a pleasure to drive, too!
07:40You could get hooked quickly, though!
07:43I understand that at the time, some people hesitated between buying a Porsche and a 2002 turbo.
07:48Ah yes, it's swinging!
07:50What a toy!
07:51So, obviously, we are far from the way current turbochargers work.
07:56Between the moment I floor the accelerator and the moment the turbo kicks in at full power,
08:00I have a feeling I can adjust my radio, if you know what I mean.
08:04And that's typical of early supercharged engines.
08:07Unlike some cars, which came a little later with turbochargers,
08:10who were pushing, you know, that famous kick in the ass, there.
08:12We don't have it here, actually.
08:14We don't have it directly.
08:15I get the impression that it's linear, actually.
08:17It doesn't grow violently, but it still grows all the time, you know!
08:21That's quite exceptional!
08:27All the controls are super soft.
08:29The steering, the clutch, the transmission.
08:32The suspension is relatively soft when you want to drive calmly.
08:36And quite effective and incisive when you want to ride a bit more sportily.
08:42It's a truly super comfortable car, even more so than sports cars.
08:45However, as soon as I try to accelerate from low revs, it feels like it's coughing.
08:48a little bit.
08:49And there you have it, as soon as the revs climb, it starts up again.
08:52And now, she's breathing really clearly.
08:55But as soon as I go down there, to the bend, and there you go, it stutters a little bit.
09:00In my opinion, it's not a big deal.
09:03We'll still need to take a look at it.
09:05And at the same time, I have the impression that there is a kind of noise coming from the exhaust.
09:08There must be a loss somewhere.
09:13If I take stock, mechanically speaking, what's the problem? Just a few minor things?
09:17But in itself, it has pretty much everything you would expect from a BMW 2002 Turbo.
09:20So that's not bad.
09:21What scares me, obviously, as you've probably guessed, is the bodywork.
09:25There's quite a bit of corrosion there.
09:26Much more work than I imagined.
09:28And specifically, at 75,000, which initially was an attractive price.
09:32With all this work, I absolutely have to negotiate below 70,000.
09:35Anything above that is too big a risk.
09:52So, how was the walk, Giri?
09:54It's not a stroll, it's a sprint with this car.
09:56No, mechanically, there's almost nothing to criticize.
09:58It's sputtering a little and there's a leak in the exhaust somewhere.
10:01It's not a big deal.
10:02I am aware of that.
10:04So, yes, I'm interested in her.
10:06But what scares me, and you knew this, is corrosion.
10:10And beyond 69, I promise you, I can't go any higher.
10:14I'll make you a great offer of 69,000 and we'll save this car.
10:1769,000?
10:17So, it's worth it, you just said it.
10:19There weren't thousands of the 2,000 turbo models.
10:21You both know that.
10:2369,000, that hurts a little.
10:26But anyway, I know it's going into good hands and that you'll give it a second life.
10:30So, exactly.
10:3269,000?
10:3269,000, right there, directly.
10:34I'll take it and we'll save it.
10:36Yes or no?
10:38Okay, let's go.
10:38It's good ?
10:3869,000, I'll go.
10:40It's over.
10:41That's it, folks, I don't know what I've just gotten myself into, but anyway,
10:43What I do know is that I just bought my first BMW 2002 turbo.
10:46That's it, we're taking it back to the workshop.
10:52So, even though the goal isn't to keep this car for very long,
10:55just the fact of bringing it back and being able to tinker with it,
10:57But that alone already makes me incredibly happy.
11:00So, watch out, I can already see the big guy's face.
11:02When it starts to rust, I think it's bound to look a little worse for wear.
11:05I know him.
11:06And at the same time, at that price, it's the only opportunity to bring one back to the workshop.
11:09And above all, resell it at an insane price.
11:11Because a nickel-chrome example can be resold for around 100,000 euros.
11:18So, if Aurélien isn't too extravagant with the mechanics, we can make a huge profit.
11:22He really needs to deliver on this one.
11:28Oh yeah, absolutely. A BN 2002 Turbo.
11:31You want me to tell you something? I was pretty much 100% certain you were going to
11:34I love that one.
11:35So, what do you think?
11:36Obviously, I love it.
11:37It's because these guys would be willing to cut off an arm to have that in their garage.
11:39That way, it looks perfect.
11:41But the chassis underneath, it's not super super pretty.
11:46No, but wait, it's completely rotten.
11:48Okay, the big words right away, she's not completely rotten.
11:50She is under some attack.
11:53Oh no, no, it's rotten. And all the way down.
11:55It's not rotten, calm down, it's fine.
11:56Don't tell me you can't do something.
11:58No, but we can always do something.
12:00So what then?
12:00But there's a Herculean task ahead.
12:01The car needs to be completely disassembled and placed on a rotisserie.
12:05Grilled Pipoulet, that suits me fine.
12:06No, but I don't feel like laughing.
12:07It's okay, we can joke around.
12:07How much did you pay for it?
12:08I bought it for €69,000, exactly.
12:10No wonder, given the state it's in.
12:11It's cheap.
12:13Realize what I'm bringing to your attention here.
12:14We won't have the opportunity to have a BM-2000 turbo in the workshop every day.
12:16This is a golden opportunity.
12:18There is some corrosion, I agree.
12:20But afterwards, you see, you know what it's worth just like me.
12:22It's worth €100,000 completely refurbished.
12:23Yeah.
12:23I assume the trunk floor is in the same condition.
12:25Not in the same condition.
12:26There is a little corrosion but not as much as on the chassis.
12:28Not as much as the chassis?
12:29No, don't worry either.
12:30Look at.
12:33Wait, did you see that? I can see daylight through it.
12:35It's okay, there's a 2 millimeter hole.
12:36If you rebuild the chassis, you can rebuild the trunk.
12:38In this case, it's clear that everything needs to be redone.
12:39What do you mean, redo everything?
12:40Look at the whole car, it's still pretty good.
12:42And then check something out, look inside, you'll be blown away.
12:44Look at.
12:45I hope the interior is better than the rest.
12:46Because right now, you see, on the motivation scale,
12:48I'm not far from zero, though.
12:50Look at.
12:50You'll understand everything.
12:52Good.
12:53It looks pretty good.
12:54Doesn't look bad?
12:55This interior is brand new.
12:57It is new.
12:58Dutch Quality.
12:59The guys took good care of it, but there's nothing that can be done.
13:01It's what ?
13:02A quick wipe with a cloth for the inside, that's all.
13:04But look at the positive side anyway.
13:05Of course.
13:05Okay, so what about the engine?
13:07What does that mean?
13:08But the same thing.
13:09There is no corrosion.
13:10She has never been in an accident.
13:11It looks pretty good.
13:12It looks pretty good, but this engine is a marvel, I tell you.
13:14At low revs, you accelerate and cough a little and there's a small loss of power at the exhaust.
13:18Apart from that, perfect.
13:20Perfect.
13:21It's perfect.
13:21Perfect.
13:22She's perfect.
13:23Yes, I'm telling you.
13:24But listen, you see, we don't quite have the same notion of perfection.
13:26Because in addition to the rust, if I understand correctly, the injection system is malfunctioning.
13:29And what's more, there's an exhaust leak.
13:30That's starting to be a lot of things, though.
13:32When I say perfect, you know, I'm using my own terms, obviously.
13:35Of course, it's your farm.
13:36Just imagine what we have in our hands, my friend.
13:38We're going to redo it perfectly.
13:39We have a unique opportunity to bring this legend back to the market.
13:42That's all.
13:43Ha, what a crazy woman!
13:44At that point, the grille also needs to be changed.
13:46Four headlights on half a turbo, I've never seen that before.
13:48You know what, I was just about to tell you.
13:50That proves something.
13:51You and I have been together for years, I know that.
13:52We're on the same wavelength.
13:54Yeah, right now I'm kind of in shock, you know.
13:57Stop!
13:58Wait, let's grab a bite to eat.
13:59I'll buy you a small kebab, just the way you like them, with a little ketchup and no...
14:04'onion.
14:04Cheese supplement.
14:05But I was going to tell you.
14:06Okay, well, that works for me.
14:07You see, we're on the same wavelength.
14:21Being able to work on a PM2002 turbo in the workshop is huge.
14:25However, the note is completely riddled with corrosion.
14:27So before you start dreaming of reselling it for 100,000 euros,
14:30I first need to inspect under her skirt to see if I'm going to have nightmares.
14:36So, what's the verdict?
14:39He's quite tired, though.
14:42The front end is completely smashed in there.
14:44And the back, the back, there's a lot of corrosion.
14:48I don't think Jayme even has one as bad as that.
14:51Oh dear!
14:54It's completely rotten here.
14:59Oh yeah, it's not even the screwdriver I'm using, it's my whole hand.
15:03Well, I'm going to have a crazy amount of work to make sure this one is healthy, huh.
15:06Thank you, Jerry.
15:07Not to mention that, mechanically, our model isn't top-notch.
15:11And now, the exhaust leak.
15:28Ah, that's not coming from the back.
15:36Oh no, clearly there's a leak at the exhaust manifold.
15:44That means that in addition to the injection, I also need to take care of the manifold.
15:47This is starting to add up.
15:49What is this?
15:52Coolant?
15:54Does that mean there's also a water pump?
15:56Okay, let's add it to the list.
15:57I'm telling you, Jerry.
15:59Before your 2000 turbo reaches 100,000 euros, a lot of time will pass.
16:08The biggest job on this BMW will be on the bodywork.
16:11Given the amount of rust perforation, I'm going to have to completely dismantle it.
16:15and remove the engine in order to replace the damaged sheet metal parts.
16:20After that, our German car will obviously need a complete paint job.
16:23And we will also have to find its original calente.
16:27But it doesn't stop there.
16:28Since Jerry doesn't spare me anything, I also want to get a job in mechanics.
16:32The problem of hesitation during acceleration absolutely needs to be fixed.
16:35And that means working on the injection system.
16:38But you also need to deal with the exhaust manifold leak and replace the water pump.
16:42In short, it's going to be a challenge.
16:49For a fan of 70s sports cars, the BMW 2002 Turbo is simply a legend.
16:54It must be said that this car is one of the very first cars to have had its turbocharger removed.
16:58-compressor.
16:58And that, at the time, made a huge difference.
17:00It was one of the only cars that could compete with Porsches on the motorway.
17:04And in terms of looks, with its wing extensions and super flashy stickers, it was impossible to miss.
17:08In 45 years, this car has never been as popular as it is today.
17:12So, it's a real stroke of luck to have one in the workshop.
17:14But the major drawback of our car is corrosion.
17:17And here, I'm not talking about surface corrosion, but about perforating rust.
17:20And not just on removable parts, but quite literally on the very structure of the car.
17:25So we'll need to find a healthy structure again, and that's going to be a monumental task.
17:29Because corrosion is unforgiving. You have to remove everything, otherwise it comes back.
17:33So I'm going to start by completely dismantling the car to see the extent of the damage.
17:36Then, cut out all the rusty parts and replace them with simple parts.
17:40For that, it means starting with a disassembly.
17:42But this isn't a simple dismantling, it's a complete overhaul of the car.
17:46Remove the interior, engine and all body parts.
17:49And at that point, of course, I need extra hands.
17:51Thomas is the right man for the job.
17:53The hood.
17:57Let's go!
17:59We continue with the doors, the trunk, the bumper, all the windows, the seats and benches,
18:11the wing extensions and also the lights.
18:15Perfect !
18:16That's a lot of elements to clear up.
18:19I finish with the engine compartment by disconnecting everything that will allow me to remove it easily.
18:24Come on, let's go!
18:26Frankly, two of us are not too many to work on this BMW.
18:30Perfect!
18:31That's it, the baby is out!
18:344-cylinder in-line engine, 170 horsepower at 5800 rpm,
18:38The engine of this BMW is a little monster capable of reaching 0 to 100 in 6.9 seconds.
18:43A very impressive performance at the time.
18:46Not to mention a turbocharger, located here, which is very efficient.
18:50Honestly, I'm in love with this engine.
18:52Even though I have some work to do on it to get it back to its full potential.
18:58We worked hard.
19:04Would you like some water?
19:09And you can take a little break, we've taken the engine out, that's good.
19:14But he never stops, actually.
19:17You're going to exhaust me.
19:30Now that our BMW is completely disassembled,
19:32I will be able to tackle the cutting and replacement of all the corroded parts.
19:35And as with our car, it's mainly the lower part that's affected,
19:38I'll have to tilt it in order to work properly.
19:41For that, I'm going to use this big device.
19:43It's called a rotisserie or a spit roaster.
19:45It's a bit like a roadside chicken in the oven.
19:47This will allow me to work on all phases of the car.
19:50Shall we go? Let's go!
19:52And I hope I've secured everything properly, otherwise our BMW will end up on the ground.
19:56And that's something I'd rather avoid.
19:57Perfect !
20:00It's clear that the rocker panels are completely rotten.
20:03That means I have to cut them out and weld in new ones.
20:06Well, there's rust here too, on the trunk floor.
20:10It's rotten at the end here and here.
20:14That means I have to completely replace the trunk floor
20:16and that I come and weld it onto the frame rails.
20:18Who, fortunately, are clean.
20:20But before I tackle the undercarriage, I'm going to take care of the rear wings.
20:26Perfect !
20:30Here, we can clearly see that it is the lower part of the rear wing that is corroded.
20:33From here to there.
20:35So I'm going to cut it up.
20:36And even cut back a little more to be sure of starting again on a healthy base.
20:38And then, I'm going to give him a transplant.
20:42Fortunately, since these parts are often corroded, new parts are available.
20:45And that will help me a lot.
20:48The problem is that if I weld it directly onto the edge, since it's a very thin sheet of metal,
20:52It will get deformed.
20:53So I'm going to make what's called a soya.
20:55Basically, I'm going to create a small border along the entire length of my new piece.
21:00That way, it will fit perfectly under my original part.
21:04This will double the thickness of the sheet metal and therefore I will have much less deformation during welding.
21:08Okay, well now, we need to start cutting.
21:13First of all, I place the new wing on the old one to draw a line and have a reference point.
21:18Next, I place a strip of tape that is 1 cm thick under the line.
21:23It's the width of the sheet metal that will go behind.
21:25It's about 1 cm.
21:27Now all I have to do is cut underneath.
21:29I'm switching to angle grinder mode.
21:41The cut is clean.
21:45I can strip the paint to get a perfectly clean surface.
22:02Here, we can see that the sheet metal is in good condition. There is no corrosion at all.
22:06Now, we need to position the new part right here.
22:09But before that, I need to create a groove along the entire length so that the sheet metal can pass through
22:14-below.
22:15Now all that's left is to be.
22:17Soyer is a technique in bodywork that allows assembly by overlapping 2 parts.
22:21That way, it's much more solid.
22:25We can see that there are 2 dead bodies here forming a small step.
22:28I'm going to press all along my sheet metal and that will create a small border all the way around.
22:32length.
22:34Thanks to this technique, it is possible to create interlocking joints between two pieces while maintaining alignment between them.
22:392 sheets of metal.
22:39Practical !
22:41That's a nice border.
22:45So, what's the verdict?
22:49Flawless !
22:49The two metal sheets fit together perfectly.
22:52Now, before welding them, they need to be glued together.
22:54For that, I'm going to use centering pins.
22:56It's a bit like "arrived," except it's temporary.
22:59At the end, you can see that there are 2 small claws that spread apart.
23:02Thanks to this, the two sheets of metal will be perfectly pressed together.
23:05And then all I'll have to do is weld.
23:07But first, we'll have to drill through.
23:12And for that, I'm going to use the silk clamp again.
23:15Because if I turn the dead man, we can pierce the sheet metal.
23:22Same principle as for making a hole in a belt.
23:24By punching it, but on metal.
23:31Next, I carefully note the reference points and perform the same operation on my new sheet metal.
23:43Now, before positioning the 2 sheets, you absolutely must apply copper spray.
23:47Otherwise, I risk getting corrosion.
23:49Thanks to this, I will be able to properly protect the inner part of the wing and the part of my new piece.
23:54This spray is composed of a very high concentration of red copper microparticles,
23:58fixed with synthetic resin.
23:59In short, no more corrosion on the sheet metal for a while.
24:05I then position the centering pins for perfect alignment.
24:16And I move on to welding.
24:19To avoid risking deforming the sheet metal, I weld at one end, then at the other.
24:23In order to disperse the heat properly, until the two weld beads meet.
24:29Once finished, all I have to do is remove my pieces.
24:32Let's see the result.
24:37Well, there you go, that's perfect!
24:40Now all that's left is to grind everything down to make it perfectly smooth.
24:43It's a heck of a job.
24:44And I'm not finished yet in restoring our BMW to its full glory.
24:48No corrosion, of course!
25:06Hi !
25:07Hi !
25:08Oh, what a construction site!
25:09Not bad, is it? She's changed quite a bit!
25:12Oh yeah!
25:13I know it's for his own good, but to have him pike-edged like a chicken, that's a
25:15It still makes me feel a little nauseous.
25:17Ah yes, you said it, I can say that I also felt heartbroken.
25:19When I put it on a bridge and saw the state of the underside, you see.
25:21Yeah, it's true that...
25:22In fact, we're talking about good news.
25:23The pump for the riser needs replacing and it's leaking.
25:25What a construction site! Wow!
25:27And tell me, I've got the injection system with me, I've got some time to kill, you have
25:29A world coup?
25:30Absolutely, I'm in, yeah!
25:31Yeah, wait, I see there's a lot of rust.
25:33My buddy, me and the angle grinder, it's a long love story.
25:37You tell me, there's sheet metal to cut up, to butcher, there's rust to
25:39fire.
25:39I'm your man, tell me.
25:40Yeah, maybe we should start with a good grinding, right?
25:43That seems safer to me.
25:45You don't trust me?
25:46Yes, I have complete faith in you!
25:47You don't trust me?
25:48But yes...
25:50Are you afraid I'll do a better job than you?
25:51That's it!
25:52You see?
25:53But start with the grinding.
25:54We'll see how it goes first, and then depending on that, we'll get to work with the angle grinder.
25:56It's good to admit it already, isn't it?
25:57Yeah.
25:58Yeah, that's good.
26:00Okay, I appreciate the gesture.
26:00What needs to be done here is to remove the entire lightning rod.
26:02All right.
26:03But without attacking the sheet metal.
26:04Otherwise, I'll have to start all over again.
26:05Okay, I know.
26:06Come on, let Dad handle it.
26:06Put some effort into it, okay?
26:07Let Dad do it, I'm telling you.
26:09Okay, let's go.
26:21Hey!
26:23Pretty !
26:24A masterpiece!
26:27Yeah, there's still some to remove there!
26:29How so ?
26:29It's almost smooth there.
26:30It needs to be perfectly smooth, like your skull, you see.
26:33Perfect!
26:34All right.
26:34Hey!
26:35This is important.
26:36It's a €100,000 car, remember.
26:38Yes, it's fine, it's okay.
26:39Yeah, it's okay, yeah.
26:53Hello ?
26:54Yes.
26:55Hello, hello.
26:57Ah, an alpha, yeah, okay, what year?
27:00Oh yes, oh well, if there's someone on the case...
27:02If I understand correctly, I need to... Ah, okay, I need to come see her right away.
27:05Come on now.
27:06Yeah, no, but I understand.
27:07Well, if it's a good deal, yeah, of course.
27:09You're still going strong, right?
27:11Obviously.
27:11I remind you, it's per 100 potatoes, okay?
27:13So you were asking me about the color, then?
27:16Yeah, okay.
27:18I'm bringing the pump, okay?
27:20Well, I certainly hope so, yes.
27:22Okay, I'm hitting the road, I'm leaving the Pelée behind.
27:24Well, I think I'm going to have to finish all the mixing by myself.
27:43Well, now I'm going to tackle a big one, the rear trunk floor.
27:47As you can see, it is pointed directly at the cash register.
27:49That means that to remove it, I'll have to use a spot weld drill bit.
27:54And as for the points, there are about fifty of them, it should last quite a while.
27:58"Déspotting" simply means removing the spot welds with a specific drill bit.
28:02Not too complicated, but not the most fun either.
28:16The solder points are fine.
28:19Thomas, can you come and help me, please?
28:21We're going to set it to 90 degrees.
28:25Back to the chopping.
28:27And yes, I first need to remove all the corroded parts from the trunk floor.
28:31They're everywhere.
28:32It's a real problem on this type of car.
28:44Once my cut is finished, I run a grinder over the edges to make them
28:48very smooth.
28:50And when I've finished welding everything, I'll take care of the rocker panels and the frame rail.
28:54Oh my goodness, honestly, thank you Jerry.
29:04When Aurélien has finished working on the bodywork and the car comes back from the paint shop, aesthetically, our 2002 BMW
29:11Turbo will be flawless.
29:13And with such an icon, mechanically, we have to live up to the myth.
29:17This is very important.
29:18So I'm not going to have the injection system checked because, according to Aurélien, the holes in the...
29:22'Acceleration, that's where it would come from.'
29:25I am taking the injection pump, but also the injectors, to Laurent who is a specialist in the field.
29:30He will be able to give me a diagnosis and I hope to fix the problem so that the fuel distribution in
29:35our engine is back to optimal.
29:38I really hope it won't be too bad because new injectors for a 2002 BMW Turbo, that
29:42does not exist and second-hand, it's 500 euros each.
29:45And then the pump costs 1000 euros. So I'm really keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well.
29:49to happen.
29:50I've arrived. We'll sort it out quickly.
29:55Hi Thierry. You mentioned a BMW 2002 pump to me.
30:00Exactly. There's the baby.
30:01Perfect.
30:02Actually, when she goes up into the holes, there's no problem. It's really low
30:04diet and there, I must admit, there are some pretty significant gaps.
30:06But listen, follow me, we're going to go see that.
30:07Can you help me?
30:08Yes.
30:09Okay, great.
30:12Hi, Gilles.
30:14Thierry brought us a malfunctioning BMW 2002 pump. You need to put it on the test bench.
30:18so that we can see that he has the problem.
30:21Together, Gilles, we're going to check the injectors. Let's go.
30:26Here, with this calibration pump, we're going to check the injector opening pressure and we're going to look
30:31if the misting system is working properly.
30:33And we're going to make the injectors sing like birds.
30:37And at 500 euros for a used injector, I hope all four will pass Laurent's test.
30:42Verdict for the first one in 3, 2, 1.
30:45A ?
30:46The moment we hear that "cuit-cuit" sound, that's already a good sign.
30:51When you see the spray pattern, you can see that it's definitely a mist and that they open up well to
30:57starting from 20 bars.
30:58Okay, fine.
30:59So for me, the first one is good.
31:02It's up to me to take charge of checking the other three.
31:04I can get my injectors to sing without any problems, they spray well and open at the correct pressure.
31:10So far, so good.
31:13Okay, fourth.
31:17There's no singing, it's rather boring. There's no misting system.
31:20You can still help me, yeah.
31:21Absolutely.
31:22Follow me.
31:22Okay, let's go.
31:26Laurent seems confident, I am a little less so.
31:29I really hope it's not destined for the bin.
31:31He opens the injector and, unsurprisingly, it is completely clogged.
31:36Now you understand better why it's malfunctioning.
31:38There's even a little bit of corrosion there.
31:40Yeah.
31:41So listen, I'm going to clean it, I'm going to be able to get it back for you, that's for sure.
31:44And at the same time, I'm going to take the opportunity to do the other three, that way we'll be sure to have
31:47impeccable injectors.
31:49I'll let you go join Gilles at the test bench.
31:51All right.
31:51That way you'll see what the problem is with the pump, if there is one.
31:54Perfect, I'll come back later.
31:55See you later.
31:56See you later, Laurent. Bye.
31:57I'm doing well with the injector.
32:00Now, let's see what's happening with our pump that Gilles installed on the test bench.
32:04It is an essential component of our engine.
32:06His role?
32:07Sending fuel or pressure to the injectors which will then distribute it into the combustion chamber.
32:12So if it breaks down, it's going to hurt our budget.
32:15What is this machine?
32:16So it's a bench, we send pressure into the pump.
32:18All right.
32:19Okay.
32:19It is supplied with fuel like the fuel pressure in a car, and the readings are taken on the four test tubes.
32:23which are there, corresponding to each cylinder.
32:25And this is a man who is not on the same level?
32:26There's a problem.
32:27Okay, let's go.
32:28Here we go.
32:33We're going to do a test at 500 rpm and then we'll activate the flow rates.
32:38Ah yes, okay.
32:40It's not exactly equal here, is it?
32:42No.
32:44It's clear, it's obvious, the test tube corresponding to the third cylinder of our pump fills much less
32:49faster than on the others.
32:50This is all a bad sign.
32:51You understand, there's a little something over there.
32:53There, it needs to be disassembled and taken to the workbench.
32:56There's the dismantling.
32:56Exactly.
32:59It is Laurent who, after saving the injectors, will try to bring our pump back to life.
33:03To do this, he disassembles the upper part of the pump.
33:06So, what does that say, doctor?
33:08So this is a hydraulic head with pistons that send the fuel to the injectors.
33:15All right.
33:16So indeed, you see, we have a piston that is seized.
33:18But look, you can see the cause quite easily.
33:23The spring is broken.
33:23A spring, you can find those easily, right?
33:25It's not easy to find, but I...
33:28Before replacing the broken spring, all the pistons must be cleaned to prolong the lifespan of the
33:33pump.
33:34For this, he uses a rounded dough.
33:36He rubs the pistons against it and then moves them within their respective cylinders until he
33:41there is no longer any adhesion.
33:43Once the pistons have been soaked in the cleaning solvent, they are like new.
33:47And you see, it's impeccable.
33:49So the third one...
33:51Ah, I can tell he's having more trouble getting back in.
33:53It's a very close call.
33:55It takes almost nothing, actually.
33:57It's so perfectly fitted.
33:59And right now, I can tell you that it slides much better.
34:03Laurent can now replace the spring and proceed with the reassembly.
34:07For my part, I am relieved.
34:09Neither the injectors nor the pump would have warranted replacement.
34:13I'm still eagerly awaiting to find out the amount of the bill.
34:16You still managed to save a really important part of that car.
34:19Even an organ on the verge of extinction, one might say.
34:21Listen, this is the heart of the system.
34:22Without it, your car will never work.
34:24Speaking of hearts, he's a little bit fragile.
34:26In my opinion, it's just as fragile as the pump.
34:28Now you're going, we know how much?
34:29Listen, we have a flat rate of 36 euros per injector.
34:32Yeah.
34:33I calculated the time spent on the hydraulic head and the injection pump on the test bench.
34:37All right.
34:38For 297 euros, in total we get to 441 and I'll throw in the spring.
34:43Ah, listen, that's a nice gesture, but 441?
34:46That's not a very round number, is it?
34:50You won't change?
34:51No, you know me.
34:51We'll round it up to 400.
34:53Yeah.
34:53And then, next time, I'll make you work harder.
34:56That's exactly it.
34:57That suits me, it's perfect.
34:58Thank you a thousand times.
34:59Take care, Laurent.
34:59Thank you, Jerry.
35:00See you soon.
35:01Ciao.
35:02So, 400 euros, obviously, is a considerable sum.
35:05But compared to the price of a new pump, it's not too bad.
35:08With this little pump refurbished, I think our BMW is going to run like a dream.
35:32Oh, that's it, I'm done.
35:35I replaced all the pieces of sheet metal that were corroded.
35:38And I'm not unhappy to have finished because I still spent a good twenty
35:41hours.
35:42Now we have a fund that is in good shape.
35:44There's only one thing left to do before sending it to paint: protect everything.
35:49That.
35:50To prevent rust from reappearing on our BMW, I'm going to apply a sealant every time
35:54that we have a sheet of metal that overlaps, like here.
35:56Or when you have a small hole, like here.
35:58Because clearly, this is exactly the kind of place where humidity will accumulate and therefore where the
36:02Rust will appear.
36:02And afterwards, I'm going to apply undercoating to the entire underside of the car to protect it from corrosion.
36:07but also screenings.
36:08I'm going to start with a seal and for that, I'm going to use polyurethane.
36:12The advantage is that it mixes very well with paint and, in addition, it is very flexible.
36:16So, I won't have any cracks.
36:19At this stage, you need to be meticulous and carefully follow the entire connection between the old and the new d
36:24'water.
36:29There we go, and I finish spreading it with a water-soaked finger to make sure we have a good
36:32waterproofing.
36:33And with that, no more rust.
36:37With this, I won't have any more water infiltration.
36:40Now I can move on to the second step.
36:42A protective anti-corrosion layer on the entire underside of my car, also known as anti-gravel coating.
36:47In fact, inside this canister, there is a resin that will become very hard
36:51and which will protect the underside of the car from all road impacts.
36:55But before applying it, I'm going to protect my two rocker panels first.
37:01Once properly protected, I proceed to spray the anti-gravel coating.
37:06A little tip: there's no point in making big blobs by emptying a liter of spray can per centimeter.
37:10square.
37:11I therefore recommend spraying a thin, even layer over the entire chassis.
37:16That will be more than enough.
37:27It's starting to take shape now.
37:29Okay, so I'll do the four wheel arches and then I can send it to be painted.
37:32And afterwards, I might even take a short break.
37:46Thanks to Aurélien's work, our BMW 2002 Turbo will very quickly regain its original colors and will soon be able to be put back on
37:51on the asphalt.
37:52This car has to be perfect.
37:54There is one element that is extremely important to the original look of this car.
37:58Obviously, these are the small stickers that are on the bottom of the wings and at the front, in
38:01below the grille.
38:02It's truly an integral part of its DNA.
38:05Now all that's left is to find them.
38:06Okay, let's go.
38:10There you go, that's it.
38:12There's something you need to know about this whole sticker thing.
38:14At the time, it caused quite a bit of controversy.
38:16That's because the stickers were printed upside down.
38:19So, they were marked BMW 2002 Turbo, but upside down.
38:22So that we can see it in the rearview mirrors.
38:24It was a bit like, "Get out of the way, I need to get through."
38:28So, the politicians didn't like that.
38:30And BMW had decided to sell these stickers, but as an option.
38:34So, obviously, we prefer the car with it.
38:37Okay, so this is good, it has everything.
38:40Small side sticker.
38:42The one under the grille.
38:45Ah, okay, the price isn't cheap, only $185.
38:48Ah, that's expensive, isn't it?
38:50Plus shipping costs and everything.
38:52There are fewer options and cheaper ones.
38:55So, what do I have here?
38:57Stickers.
38:58So.
38:59Well, I can get it cheaper here, for starters.
39:02140 euros.
39:03That's good.
39:04A complete kit for the BMW E10 series.
39:07Just like in the photos.
39:09That's good.
39:10Ah, well, that's perfect.
39:11Everything is there.
39:13Ah, that looks good, doesn't it?
39:15140 euros is still quite expensive.
39:17but it's already cheaper than the other ad.
39:20I'm not going to waste any time, I think I'll take them.
39:21Okay, bam.
39:23That's done.
39:25Okay, there you go.
39:26So now I need to find a grille.
39:28Because on our BMW, it has four headlights.
39:30And originally, she only had two.
39:32Ah yeah.
39:33So, if we really want to attract big fish and customers,
39:36Of course, it is absolutely essential that our BM 2002 Turbo be in its original condition.
39:41Alright, let's get to work.
39:50After spending several days at the body shop,
39:52Our BMW is back in the workshop with its paintwork in full swing.
39:58That's 3200 euros well spent because now it clearly has nothing to do with the car anymore.
40:03I was so tired that Jerry had brought me back.
40:09The bodywork repairs are officially finished.
40:12And that's a real relief when you think back to the whole wheel that had attacked the metal.
40:16I will still need to install the accessories to make them aesthetically perfect.
40:20On the mechanical side, Jerry took care of the injection system.
40:23And on my end, I also have work to do in the engine department.
40:26I need to take care of fixing two leaks.
40:29The one at the exhaust manifold and the one I spotted on the water pump.
40:33And then I thought of a small improvement to be made to the turbo.
40:37In short, this is the final stretch.
40:49There, we can truly say that this is its color, the famous Alaskan white.
40:52It still needs a few accessories and its stickers to be completely original.
40:57But before that, I'm going to take care of the engine.
40:59I have a leak at the water pump, right here.
41:01And there's also an exhaust leak.
41:03And I'll start with that.
41:05In my opinion, it's not the manifold that's punctured.
41:07I think we have a leak either at the gasket between the manifold and the cylinder head,
41:10Either the manifold itself is deformed.
41:12I'm going to take it apart and we'll see about that right away.
41:20That's what I thought, it's not cracked.
41:24However, we can clearly see that there is a leak right here.
41:27The seal is completely blackened.
41:28But it's not deformed.
41:30That means it's my manifold that's deformed.
41:32At the same time, it's not surprising.
41:33Because the manifold collects the exhaust gases.
41:36And on a turbocharged car, the exhaust gases can reach temperatures of around 900 degrees.
41:40At that temperature, the metal deforms.
41:43And naturally, the flatness of my collector is better.
41:46That's why I have a leak right here.
41:48The best way to check the flatness of a manifold is to use a marble slab.
41:55Well, clearly, at cylinder number 4,
41:58We can see that the collector fits perfectly onto the marble.
42:01The light cannot get through.
42:02However, on cylinder number 3, we can see that light manages to pass right here.
42:07This means that the collector is not making perfect contact with the marble.
42:10So the collector is deformed.
42:12And that corresponds well to the fault I'm finding on cylinder number 3 of my engine.
42:16And I'm not going to throw away this collector.
42:18I'm simply going to correct it.
42:21To obtain a perfectly flat surface,
42:23I'm going to gently sand the manifold with very fine sandpaper.
42:26A 400 grit.
42:27The idea is to avoid digging too deep into the subject matter.
42:32There, you can clearly see where it's distorted.
42:34The sandpaper didn't touch that part at all.
42:36while the other 3 were attacked.
42:38So I need to keep sanding very gently.
42:40until my entire collector is completely white.
42:43And that will be proof that I have regained perfect flatness.
42:46And still a bit of work to do.
42:49And my little trick is to oil the sandpaper.
42:51to lubricate the sanding and make it more efficient.
42:55Guaranteed results.
42:56That's good, it's nice and full.
42:58We shouldn't have a leak problem anymore.
43:01Before reassembling the manifold, I change the gasket.
43:04Because even if it had no flaws,
43:06If it has been installed once, its sealing function is no longer guaranteed.
43:09So it's a good buy.
43:15Now I can switch to turbo mode.
43:17With a small improvement, I'm going to put a sock on it.
43:21That's what a sock is.
43:22It is made of titanium and it will help to prevent
43:24the spread of heat in the engine compartment.
43:27And besides, it's an improvement for less than 100 euros.
43:29Jerry won't hold it against me for making our 2002 more reliable.
43:37I'm done with the turbo.
43:39I'll be able to move on to my second escape.
43:40which is located at the level of the water pump.
43:42But before that, I have a bit of disassembly to do.
43:46And it's the propeller I need to remove.
43:47in order to be able to access the water pump.
43:51Our leak is at the water pump,
43:52It comes from the oil seal that is located around the shaft.
43:54It must have dried out.
43:55That's definitely a sign of a car that isn't driven often.
43:58The role of the water pump is to circulate water throughout the engine.
44:01So if I have a leak, it's likely to get worse.
44:03and the water pump will function better.
44:05And clearly, we're going to have an overheating situation.
44:07And here's the problem we're having with our water pump,
44:09The thing is, the pulley support is crimped onto the axle.
44:12Which means I don't have access to the seals.
44:13The only solution is to replace the entire pump.
44:18And replacing the water pump means first removing it.
44:21The new one I'm installing in its place cost me 100 euros.
44:25And it's really a very worthwhile small investment.
44:27when you think about the disastrous consequences
44:29what a faulty cooling system can cause.
44:36Okay, the leaks are sorted.
44:38Now I can finally put the engine back in the car.
44:46I've finished reassembling the engine, which is in perfect working order.
44:49The bodywork is immaculate and the trim pieces have been put back in place.
44:52Perfect! Now I can tackle the red hair.
44:56The rims came back from painting at the same time as the bodywork.
44:59And when you install them, you realize that it changes the look of our German car.
45:04It's awesome!
45:05The small two-tone rims immediately make it look much sportier.
45:09What will also transform it is this headlight grille that Jerry found for 200 euros.
45:14Now, the finishing touch.
45:22Oh yeah, that's awesome! I love it!
45:24We can truly say that we're done with our 2002 Turbo.
45:36When I think back to that 2002 Turbo that was completely eaten away by rust,
45:40I tell myself that we started from a long way back.
45:41I even got a few chills when I put it on the bridge.
45:44In fact, it was worse than Jerry had described to me.
45:47But hey, a car this legendary is really worth putting in the effort to restore it to its former glory.
45:51original state.
45:52When I see the result, I tell myself that it was really worth it.
45:58Now that the repairs are finished, we can finally make the Turbo roar on our BMW.
46:04Okay then, who's your pilot?
46:05You see, he's arriving just now.
46:07Get to your grade!
46:10Come on, that's some serious cross-country running!
46:16Today on Wheeler Dealers France, I emptied my bank account
46:19since I bought a BMW 2002 Turbo for €69,000.
46:23So what do you think?
46:25Of course, I love it!
46:26In other words, these guys would be willing to cut off an arm to see that in their garage.
46:28That's partly why I'm bringing it back to the workshop too.
46:30But our powerful German car was completely corroded all over.
46:34And Aurélien worked hard to get his car bodywork back in shape.
46:36Okay, let's get to the construction site!
46:38Not bad, is it? She's changed quite a bit!
46:41Oh yeah!
46:41I know it's for his own good, but having him pike-edged like a chicken, that has a
46:44a little nauseous.
46:45A monumental task, but one that could pay off handsomely with a collector craving thrills.
46:55Our BMW 2002 Turbo is beautiful again, just like the day we bought it.
46:58The corrosion is gone and, mechanically, its engine has regained all its bite.
47:04Obviously, the project wasn't easy.
47:06To summarize, to its initial purchase price of €69,000, we add
47:09€400 for an injection system overhaul.
47:12Turbo sock €90,
47:14€100 for the water pump,
47:17Consumables such as hose clamps and various polyurethane seals, including the exhaust and manifold seals 90
47:22€,
47:23and €1,200 for renovation of the complete stainless steel exhaust system.
47:28That's for the mechanics.
47:29Regarding the aesthetics and maintenance of our racing car,
47:32A complete paint job will cost €3,200.
47:36bodywork elements such as the boot floor,
47:39the rocker panels or the rear axles,
47:42€974
47:43the grille, two headlights and a rearview mirror,
47:45€550
47:47anti-gravel coating and copper spray,
47:49€63
47:51€460 for tires and €140 for stickers.
47:54In total, our 2002 BMW turbo cost us just under €76,300 and required
48:0167 hours of work.
48:04A gigantic project, but we can hope to make an equally enormous profit by reselling it for more than
48:09€100,000.
48:17So, am I right or what?
48:19Why?
48:20Buying this 2002 BMW turbo? Just look at this beast, mate!
48:24Yes, well, I admit it, she's beautiful.
48:26With the new paint, stickers and everything, it looks like it just came from a dealership.
48:29But when you brought it back to me, I was a little less enthusiastic, you see.
48:32Yes, well, okay. I admit that in that respect, I haven't really spoiled you.
48:35The underside of the car, it might not have been all that great, you know.
48:38Not so beautiful? No, but she was completely rotten, yeah.
48:42A lousy complement, no, but come on, don't exaggerate a little bit there.
48:44No way, I had to replace both rocker panels, and the trunk floor, I won't even mention it.
48:48not.
48:48What do you call that?
48:49Well, it's rotten, that's all.
48:50Yeah, it's rubbish, we agree.
48:52Completely rotten, no, not right away, you're exaggerating.
48:54Finally, it's okay.
48:55Yeah, go ahead, press down a little so we can see them.
48:57That's 170 horsepower under the hood.
49:09The whistling of that turbo is tempting.
49:11It's magical.
49:12Oh, what a treat for the ears.
49:13So, for me, we really enjoy the sound of the 2-litre engine.
49:15There are no more leaks at the exhaust quality control points and I've installed a line.
49:19So, the injection, my friend, honestly, you did well to review all that because, well,
49:23You press it, it starts immediately and it keeps going too.
49:30Yeah, and how much do you think your comeback will be?
49:32Wait, seriously.
49:33Have you seen this bombshell? She's perfect, my friend. I asked, but it's 100,000 euros minimum.
49:37100,000 euros, that's a nice sum.
49:39You can say that again.
49:40And considering how much trouble you went through to make it, I have a little surprise in store for you.
49:44Okay, let's go.
49:45You won't be disappointed, you'll see.
49:54Ah, the Feuland-Bresse circuit, that's so cool, man.
49:57Yeah, mate, the only thing is, you're not the one driving.
50:01What do you mean, I'm not the one driving?
50:02Oh no, you know yourself.
50:03I like little surprises.
50:05Look, we'll get set up and you'll understand very quickly.
50:09Okay.
50:11Go on, go out.
50:13Hop.
50:14Look at.
50:15Okay then, who's your pilot?
50:16You see, he's arriving right here.
50:19Who better to arrive today than Atanen, BMW brand ambassador?
50:23and a legendary driver to test our racing car.
50:25World Rally Champion in 1981,
50:27first place at Payspeak in '88,
50:29four-time winner of the Dakar Rally
50:31His track record is simply impressive.
50:35Hi Harry.
50:36Oh, hi.
50:37How are you doing ?
50:37Very good, very good.
50:38Very well, let me introduce you to Aurélien.
50:40Hi Aurélien.
50:40Hi.
50:41I have Harry.
50:41Ah yeah, I recognized it, yeah.
50:43But you're the one who worked on this car?
50:45Yeah.
50:46But it's beautiful.
50:47Gorgeous.
50:47Magnificent, magnificent.
50:48Shall we go for a walk?
50:49Okay, let's go.
50:50Okay, are you coming with me?
50:51Come on.
50:52I have the helmet.
50:53We've thought of everything, Harry.
50:53We have the helmets, we have everything we need.
50:55Just a little trip with Harry, that's all.
51:11Come on.
51:12Now that's a world-class travel move.
51:16She sings well, doesn't she?
51:17Fuel injection plus turbo.
51:19I remember, 2002, TI at the time,
51:21I was looking at him with my eyes, wow.
51:23It's the biggest of the 2002s.
51:24And that's still 170 horsepower.
51:27In the 70s, turbos were really rare.
51:29At the time, it was like Ferrari for the poor.
51:32Exactly.
51:33An iconic sabbath, truly iconic.
51:40Woohoo!
51:40All through.
51:46Oh, what acceleration!
51:48The trick you hear?
51:49Yeah.
51:50The noise, it's magical, yeah.
51:52What is the top speed?
51:53Top speed, over 200 km/h.
51:56Imagine that, back in the 70s.
51:58It was great.
51:59There was no imitation.
52:00And everything, you could fool a madman.
52:01You were the king of the village, yes.
52:03Ah, that reminds me of my youth.
52:06Alright, let the bickering begin.
52:08There you go!
52:19That was the crepe.
52:24Come on, that's crooked.
52:30We'll get there quickly.
52:33Woohoo!
52:34He's not coming?
52:35What's that fresh?
52:36Yes, it's fresh.
52:37Oh, put it away, it's fresh.
52:49Okay, a special one, Harry.
52:51Oh, ears.
52:52A little bit of surveillance.
52:54A little bit of surveillance.
52:58Yeah !
52:58Oh, ears.
53:05Woohoo!
53:06Okay then!
53:07Amazing !
53:08You, you had a great time, didn't you.
53:09What a skillful steering!
53:10The young Finnish boy then walked.
53:11Yes, it works very badly.
53:13All right.
53:14Harry, do you approve of the work done in the East or not?
53:15Great.
53:16Ah yes, he did a very good job, very good, very well.
53:20Ponteur, thank you a thousand times anyway, Harry, for coming to see us and validating the car.
53:25Thank you, take care.
53:26Thank you Aurélie.
53:27Thank you again.
53:29Don't drive too fast, we'll be careful.
53:31Ah yes, no faster, no faster. Carre-fond, is that it?
53:32That's his motto.
53:33So, my friend, can you imagine that helmet? It's worth a fortune today.
53:37And worn by Harry Vatanen.
53:39Is Jerry Vatanen a good fit or not?
53:40AVERAGE.
53:41All right.
53:41Okay, are you going to give us a ride?
53:42Oh, absolutely.
53:43He left.
53:45Did we do it Arrivatanen style or what?
53:46Arrivatanen.
53:48Arrivatanen style!
53:49Woohoo!
53:57In addition to being a true legend, the BMW 2000 turbo is an ultra-rare car.
54:01Only 1700 copies.
54:03I think we can call it a collector's item.
54:05And given the work we've done on it with Aurélien,
54:07I think we can boast about having one of the most beautiful 2002 models on the market.
54:10So I placed an ad a few days ago for 110,000 euros.
54:13And in just two days, I received about ten calls.
54:16Ha!
54:17It's not complicated.
54:18First come, first served.
54:20And in that game, Henri was the fastest.
54:23Let's see what he thinks of our BMW.
54:27So Henri, we can almost touch perfection here.
54:30Take a look.
54:31She is even more beautiful than in the photos I received.
54:34She is truly in extraordinary condition.
54:37It looks like it just came off the assembly line.
54:39You can examine it closely.
54:40It has been completely renovated.
54:41You could say she's perfect.
54:43Basically, this car is for me.
54:46Glad to hear you say that.
54:47Okay, Jerry, 110,000 euros, that's a bit of a high bar.
54:50Ah yes, but perfection comes at a price, beware.
54:52I know.
54:53This is a vehicle I've been looking for for quite some time.
54:57This one is truly faithful to the original.
54:59It's really in very, very good condition.
55:01This is definitely something I don't want to let go of.
55:03We need to come to an agreement.
55:04We need to find a deal between the two of us.
55:05I'm offering you 100,000 euros.
55:07To lower it by 10,000 euros just like that, all at once,
55:10I'm being honest with you, I couldn't do it.
55:12We can negotiate a minimum amount.
55:13I would do the same thing if I were in your place.
55:15but I'm not going to literally drop a 10,000 bill from it all at once, no.
55:19Let's split the difference.
55:20105,000 euros.
55:25Is that your dream, then? Is that it?
55:27It's been a while.
55:28You can almost touch it, then.
55:29Almost.
55:30Go ahead, you can touch it.
55:31That's good for 105,000 euros.
55:32Thank you so much.
55:33I'm a little jealous.
55:33THANKS.
55:33I'm going to buy you a very nice toy.
55:35It's a very beautiful car.
55:36She is splendid.
55:39By purchasing this rust-ridden BMW 2002 Turbo,
55:41I took one of the biggest risks of my career.
55:44But those who play big, win big.
55:45And by restoring this BMW 2002 from A to Z,
55:48We gave ourselves the opportunity to bring an automotive myth to life.
55:51And on top of that, we made the biggest profit we've ever made.
55:5528,000 euros.
55:56It's very buttery, isn't it?
55:57According to my sense of direction, we're on the right track, but...
56:00Oh shit.
56:01Oh well.
56:03Second in the rankings.
56:04It's in the can.
56:05In fact, with the new GoPros, it's automatic now.
56:07They're the only ones who think we have everything we need.
56:10Okay, I'm letting go.
56:11Good.
56:12But what's certain is that I'm going to have a crazy job before she's healthy.
56:16Before having a sound bodywork.
56:18So.
56:18It's good.
56:19Before having a sound bodywork.
56:20Besides being a true mix, the BMW 2002 Turbo is a real...
56:24Oh shit.
56:26My God, my God.
56:29My God.
56:30Come on.
56:31Shh.

Recommandations
