Trascrizione
00:05Sì, è Larry Herbst, Xbox Live's Major Nelson
00:07here with Richard Irving from the Xbox Engineering Team.
00:10Richard, it's great to see you.
00:11Always great to be here.
00:12It's always great to have you on
00:13because you're talking about some good stuff
00:14and this is really exciting
00:15because the preview audience is going to get their first look
00:18and hands-on with the new Xbox One experience, right?
00:20That's right.
00:21So the subset of preview members
00:24who have opted into this preview
00:26are going to get the build that we're looking at right here.
00:28Now I figured you can kind of walk us through
00:30and what we can expect in this
00:31because this is a little bit different
00:33from preview programs in the past, right?
00:34That's right.
00:35So this is a very big release for us
00:38driven by a lot of fan feedback
00:40and so we want to focus that feedback in specific areas.
00:44So in this first release,
00:45there's a couple of areas
00:46that we want the preview audience to pay attention to
00:49and give us feedback on
00:50before we go into the next wave of development.
00:53Why don't you tell us about some of the areas
00:54that we want folks to focus on?
00:56Sure.
00:56Well, so the first thing is the new home
00:59which we've talked a lot about
01:01between E3 and Gamescom
01:03and like you said,
01:04this is the first time preview members
01:06are going to be able to go hands-on with it.
01:08And so what you're looking at right here
01:10is your new home on Xbox One
01:12and you'll notice if you keep scrolling down,
01:15you'll get to your collection and your pins
01:17which is very important to our fans.
01:20But you also note what is enabled right now
01:22is the ability to quickly go between
01:25the thing you were doing most recently
01:27and your pins by simply pulling the trigger.
01:30So I pull the left trigger
01:31and I go back up to the top
01:32or I pull the right trigger
01:33and I'm right into my pins.
01:34So you can instantly snap to the top of them
01:36so you can get to your pins
01:37almost a little bit quicker than before.
01:39That's right.
01:39You can instantly get to them
01:41with a pull of the right trigger.
01:43Thanks, Richard.
01:43Now I know an area that your team
01:44is really excited about
01:45and the community is probably
01:46even just as excited about
01:48or maybe even more so
01:49is the guide.
01:50Can we take a look at that?
01:51Yeah, that's in fact
01:52the big focus for this preview release
01:55is we've got a lot of fan feedback
01:57since we launched Xbox One
01:59that they want it to be faster
02:00to access their friends.
02:01They want faster access to their parties
02:05and the guide is
02:06we're bringing to Xbox One
02:09to help address some of those concerns.
02:11So you've probably used the guide
02:14on Xbox 360
02:15and that's how to think about the guide,
02:17the new guide on Xbox One.
02:19except we've completely reimagined it
02:21for Xbox One.
02:22So here from the main screen
02:24or in a game
02:25how do you get to the guide?
02:26Well, so there's actually two ways
02:28because we wanted to make it easier
02:29to discover the guide.
02:31So if you're not playing a game
02:33or if you're just on your home screen
02:35you can scroll to the left
02:37and it will instantly appear
02:39as an overlay
02:40and by default
02:41you will see your friends list.
02:43And so when you're in a game
02:45where you'll probably use it even more
02:47you just double tap the Xbox button
02:49and you'll notice
02:50it instantly loads
02:51with no waitings
02:52no load times
02:53no spinners
02:54no splash screens.
02:55It's just right there.
02:56That's right.
02:56All right.
02:57So let's walk through
02:58what we're seeing here
02:59and what we can do in the guide.
03:00Well, so by default
03:01like you see here
03:02you're going to see
03:04your friends list
03:05and it's sorted by
03:06your friends that are online
03:07and your friends that are offline.
03:09And so when you click through
03:11to one of your friends
03:11you can see all the actions
03:12that are relevant
03:14relevant for them.
03:15So for example
03:16you can send them a message
03:17you could join their party
03:19if they were in a joinable party
03:20send them a party invite
03:23or deep dive
03:24and view their full screen profile.
03:26That looks great Richard.
03:27What else can we see here?
03:28Well, you'll also notice
03:29that you can
03:31get a different view
03:32of your friends list now
03:33which is recent players.
03:35So we're bringing
03:35anybody that you
03:36you came across
03:37in different multiplayer matches
03:39we're now bringing those
03:39right to the top here.
03:40That's right.
03:42Richard, parties are a big part
03:43of the Xbox experience.
03:45Show me where I find those in here.
03:47Well, so there's actually
03:48two ways
03:49that we've made
03:49parties faster and easier.
03:51So the first is
03:52I just showed you
03:53when you click through
03:54a friend on your friends list
03:56you'll see the ability
03:57to invite them
03:58to your party
03:59right there.
04:01What's cool about this
04:02is you can do that
04:04whether or not
04:04you have an active
04:05party already going.
04:07We automatically create
04:08the party
04:09in the background
04:10without you having to do
04:11any extra work
04:12send that invite
04:14and then your party
04:15is created
04:15and just waiting
04:17for your friend
04:17to accept the invite
04:18so they can start
04:19chatting with you.
04:21But got a lot of people
04:22using Xbox One
04:23have been using Xbox One
04:24parties for a while
04:25and so you can still
04:27get to parties that way
04:28except it's now faster.
04:30And so you'll notice
04:31just below the friends list
04:33we have this party tab
04:34on the guide
04:36and from here
04:37I can check my party status
04:39if I was already in a party
04:40or I can just click
04:41the start a party button
04:42that will start the party
04:43with just me in it
04:45and then I'll have
04:46an invite friends button
04:47which when I select that
04:48I can then multi-select
04:49a bunch of friends
04:51that I want to send
04:51my send party invites to
04:53wait for them to accept
04:55and join etc.
04:56And this is all
04:57much much faster
04:58you'll notice
04:58because now it's just
04:59double tap the Xbox button
05:01and go into the party areas
05:03again
05:03no waiting
05:04no load times
05:05no splash screens
05:06no spinners
05:06you're right
05:07and all right
05:07let's keep going down
05:08here looks like
05:08we've got some messages
05:10again
05:10this loads super fast
05:12as part of the guide
05:14you'll see a list
05:15of all of the messages
05:16that you have
05:17in your message list
05:19and you click through
05:20you can see the
05:21chronological conversation
05:22history which we introduced
05:24sometime last year
05:25and then you can
05:27reply using text
05:28or by sending
05:29a voice message
05:31now Richard
05:31notifications were a big part
05:33of the Xbox One
05:34home screen
05:34I don't see them here anymore
05:35how do I get to my notifications
05:36well so they're
05:38they're a key component
05:40of the new guide
05:42so you know
05:43the scenario
05:45was you're in the middle
05:46of a game
05:47you record a game clip
05:48your friend sends you
05:49a party invite
05:50something happens
05:51but you can't
05:52step away from that
05:53multiplayer session
05:54right
05:54and so we want to
05:56we wanted to make it
05:56really easy to get back
05:58to those notifications
05:59that you missed
06:00okay
06:00so we made them
06:01an integral part
06:02of the guide
06:02so you just double tap
06:04the Xbox button
06:05you go down to this
06:06notifications icon
06:07and you'll see that
06:09rolling history
06:10of notifications
06:11that you've received
06:12now one of the things
06:13I noticed right away here
06:14is that they're kind of
06:15they're grouped
06:15that's right
06:16so to make
06:18better use of the
06:19real estate
06:20we group notifications
06:21intelligently
06:22by the type of
06:24notification they are
06:25by the game they're
06:26associated with
06:26things like that
06:27so when you want to
06:28get back to a
06:30game clip that you
06:31recorded while playing
06:32a specific game
06:33it's super easy
06:33to just glance
06:34at the list
06:35and see
06:35see where that
06:36notification is
06:37now Richard
06:38a lot of what
06:39we're seeing here
06:39is based on fan
06:40feedback
06:40show me some
06:41of the other areas
06:42where fans had a
06:43real direct impact
06:43on the guide
06:44well you'll see
06:45the settings area
06:47there's there's
06:48some settings
06:48that are just
06:49super important
06:49to have access
06:50to while you're
06:51playing a game
06:52and so you'll see
06:53here you can
06:54modify your headset
06:56volume
06:56you can actually
06:57mute the microphone
06:58that you're using
06:59for chat
07:00you can even adjust
07:01the side tone
07:02which is how much
07:04feedback you hear
07:05of yourself
07:06in your headset
07:07so that you know
07:07when you're chatting
07:09versus and your
07:10chats coming through
07:11versus one of your
07:12friends in the party
07:13and then of course
07:13that right there
07:14at the bottom
07:14is a direct link
07:15to all the settings
07:16yeah and so you'll
07:17be able to access
07:18our redesigned
07:19settings area
07:20we just wanted to
07:21make it really fast
07:22for you to jump
07:23through each of the
07:24categories and find
07:25the thing that you're
07:25looking for
07:26just scroll through
07:28that vertically
07:28you'll see the
07:29categories updated
07:30in real time
07:30again no waiting
07:31no spinners
07:32nothing like that
07:33to find the setting
07:35that you're looking
07:35for to accomplish
07:36the task that you
07:37want to accomplish
07:38now Richard I'm
07:39noticing everything
07:39for the guide
07:40is over here
07:40on the left
07:41historically Xbox One
07:42we've snapped apps
07:43on the right
07:44so this is changing
07:45right?
07:45yeah that's right
07:46so you'll notice
07:47the last entry
07:48in the guide
07:49the bottom entry
07:50in the guide
07:51are all of your
07:52snap apps
07:52and so you go here
07:55to find the app
07:55that you want to snap
07:56but we've moved
07:57the snap window
07:59to the left hand
08:00side of the screen
08:00which we also received
08:02a fair amount of
08:02feedback on
08:03just because it makes
08:04it more natural
08:05sort of as your eyes
08:06are shifting focus
08:07between the primary
08:08thing which is the
08:09game that you're
08:09playing and the
08:10secondary thing which
08:11is your snap
08:12experience it's just
08:13easier for the eyes
08:14to make that sort
08:16of adjustment
08:16all right Richard
08:17thank you so much
08:17for walking us
08:18through this
