00:00A massive heat dome is leading to temperatures 20 to 30 degrees above what you'd expect right now.
00:05Historical averages are in the 50s, 60s, 70s, or low 80s for mid-March.
00:09It's the southwest, so there's a range.
00:11But our highs this week are even into the triple digits already.
00:14In LA, you're flirting with the hottest March temperature ever recorded, 99 degrees.
00:18That record has stood since the 1800s, and if we get to 100, we break the record.
00:23Las Vegas could hit 100 degrees weeks earlier than it ever has,
00:27and Phoenix is closing in on 106, which would shatter daily records by about 10 degrees
00:32and break the all-time record high for all of March.
00:35Thursday into Friday is really when the heat peaks for a lot of you.
00:38So if you're in Phoenix or Vegas, you're dealing with triple-digit heat that feels more like June than March,
00:43and even places like Denver and Salt Lake City could challenge records
00:46with temperatures jumping into the 70s and 80s.
00:49Temperatures will start to drop this weekend and next week,
00:51but not back to where we should be this time of year.
