00:00Anyway, it's the first big step for the quarterback to the Browns this fall.
00:03Whoever that may be, free agency.
00:05It was written on CBSSports.com and ESPN as a win for Shador Sanders.
00:10Did you find free agency to be a win for Shador?
00:14Did you find it to be a win for the Browns quarterback room in general?
00:16It was a huge win.
00:17I can't say for the quarterback room because they did not improve the quarterback room.
00:21So until further notice.
00:23Well, the quarterbacks in the room was probably a win for.
00:25Yes, for Shador Sanders, it was a massive win because, let's face it,
00:30if they brought in Malik Willis, that would have been a big-time loss.
00:35They didn't.
00:36So, you know, right now, right now, he, I would, it's funny.
00:41Everybody nationally says Deshaun Watson's his to lose
00:44because they remember Deshaun Watson from five years ago.
00:46We've seen him more recently.
00:47Well, Zach says anybody who says that's an idiot.
00:50Was that the quote that he said?
00:51Yes, but it seems like that's what everybody's saying.
00:53But you and I are kind of on the same page.
00:55We're like, no, I mean, they want Deshaun Watson,
00:57they want Shador Sanders to win until further notice, right?
01:02Like, let's see, because there's still time.
01:03And when did they bring in Joe Flacco last year?
01:05I think the people who are April 11th.
01:08The people who are from a national perspective,
01:10I just don't think that they have boots on the ground to understand,
01:13you know, how the city may feel about it.
01:16I think it's the opposite.
01:17I really do think it's Shador's job to lose.
01:19And I think it was a good free agency for him
01:22where you have new people coming in on the offensive line.
01:25Now, they are going to be better than what you assume
01:28your old offensive line is going to be.
01:30Now, I specified earlier in the show the challenges that are laid out
01:34for George Warhop to get these guys playing in the right direction,
01:37get these guys all on the same page, you have new free agents,
01:40because you can go one of two ways, obviously.
01:42You could have a real bad offensive line when you bring them up in free agency.
01:45You can have a decent one.
01:46I don't know if you're going to have one that just automatically becomes
01:49a top 10 offensive line in the NFL.
01:52And if you're not a top – really, if you're not a top five offensive line,
01:56most fans just think their offensive lines are terrible
01:58if they're not well known as one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
02:01It's so dreadfully important, and I love proving people wrong
02:06about where they sit on offensive lines when they try to tell me it's not important.
02:09Some still do in 2026.
02:11It's going to be important for Shador.
02:14Shador's used to run for his life.
02:15He had to do it in Colorado.
02:16He had to do it to some certain degree last year.
02:19I want to see him with a little bit more time.
02:21But those who are outside of Cleveland, I just don't think they understand
02:26how the fan base feels about the entire quarterback room.
02:29Again, you can be annoyed that we talk about Shador Sanders.
02:34You can be annoyed that the conversation swings easily during free agency
02:40like he's signed with the Vikings now.
02:43But you can be annoyed that Kyler Murray gets brought up in Tua
02:45and Malik Willis and et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
02:48The organization, I do feel, from top down, wants Shador to win the job.
02:55I think he goes in as the favorite to win the job with the organization.
02:58Oh, we make things so much easier for everybody involved.
03:01What the national media doesn't understand, though, is part of that reason
03:05is that fans don't want to see the other guy.
03:08They just don't want to see the other guy.
03:10And that's part of that reason.
03:12Like, we played a promo for Nick and Jonathan right before this segment started.
03:18And they're talking a lot of 2027.
03:20Yeah, I think a lot of people might be thinking of 2027 going,
03:23all right, let's see what we have with this QB room.
03:25Let's see what we have with Shador.
03:27Let's see if he can, with a proper camp and proper OTAs,
03:32can he be the guy that can lead us forward?
03:35Or are we looking in 2027?
03:37I think that's the way a lot of people feel that this thing's going to go.
03:40So the national perspective, I think they just look
03:42and they remember exactly what you said.
03:44The guy that was there six years ago that was a great player.
03:47The guy that was traded for three first-round picks.
03:50The money, that's still offered to him.
03:51And, I mean, there is a physical prowess there.
03:53I mean, he is a physically imposing figure at 6'3", 6'4",
03:56and a bigger body than what Shador Sanders has.
03:59Let's face it, they're looking at Shador as a fifth-round pick
04:01who had some of the worst numbers that a rookie has had in a few years in the NFL.
04:06So you're going to pick anybody over that, most likely.
04:09If we're talking week one, though, I think your leader right now
04:11is going to be Shador.
04:12I can't guarantee it's going to be an entire season, though.
04:14I mean, Todd Munkin, he has to win games,
04:17but I think that Shador Sanders is going to be given every opportunity he can
04:20to win this game, but win this job.
04:23The thing that I'm most worried about is that,
04:26and I think that he's here a lot, I know he's in the building a lot,
04:30so he's trying to put his best foot forward.
04:32Once you get into those drills and the settings of knowing the offense
04:36and figuring out where to go, there's still going to be some growing pains,
04:40but what direction is a 60-year-old first-time head coach going to want to go
04:43if one guy has a better grip on the offense,
04:45if one guy might have any bit of his physicality back to what he had before?
04:50Which way does he want to go?
04:52For people who say, well, I don't want anybody involved other than the head coach.
04:55Are you sure you want to do that?
04:57Because if the head coach decides to make a decision for winning now,
05:01he might not pick your guy.
05:03I don't think it's a 100% Shador ends up being the starter week one.
05:06I just think that he is definitely, without a doubt,
05:10the leader that they want to give the job to.
05:13Yeah, and I don't know.
05:15You talked about how secure that would be.
05:17I think whoever starts at quarterback this year,
05:20unless they make a significant investment into that,
05:22which you never know.
05:23I doubt it at this point because they didn't go Kyler Murray.
05:26They didn't go Malik Willis or anything like that.
05:28And I know Murray would not have been a significant investment
05:30in terms of the money,
05:32but just that stature and who it is and everything.
05:35They probably have, what, five, six games?
05:39Basically.
05:39Right, if the Browns start out one and four, one and five,
05:42whoever is starting is getting benched.
05:44I think you're trying to go month to month.
05:45I don't think there's any question.
05:46I think you're trying to go month to month.
05:47Like, if you're Todd Munkin, as of right now,
05:51unless they go do something pretty strong in the draft,
05:53and I just don't think they're going to do that unless they go
05:56and they do something pretty strong in the draft
05:58or somebody elevates themselves past,
06:00I think publicly it's his job.
06:04I think privately you're kind of month to month on it
06:06after the season starts.
06:08Mike in Frisco, Texas, you're first up on the fan.
06:10Hello.
06:11Hey, guys.
06:12I just got in the car,
06:13and the first thing I heard was the free agency,
06:16a win for the quarterback room.
06:17And I got to say, absolutely not.
06:21And all the quarterback talk, I know that's the prime position on a team.
06:26But, man, we're building an offensive line with degraded players.
06:31We're going to have the sort of offensive line that Joe Burrows had in Cincinnati
06:34or the offensive line that made Andrew Luck retire early.
06:37It doesn't matter who we put at quarterback.
06:40I mean, just because we went and got guys, everybody celebrated.
06:42I'm hearing people drinking the Kool-Aid last week like,
06:45oh, Andrew Barry likes the flexibility to play left or right tackle.
06:50He's going to stink at either left or right tackle.
06:52We've got nothing on the offensive line, guys.
06:54Mike, see, just because I'm not like that.
06:57I did not go overboard and start saying Super Bowl, Super Browns
07:01because of what they did on the offensive line.
07:03But I'm not going to go the other way either.
07:05I'm not going to say, and Mike, thank you for the call.
07:06I don't think that these guys are going to suck out loud right off the rip.
07:09I got to see it.
07:10I got to see it in camp.
07:12I got to see it when the season starts.
07:13The only thing you can do is kind of hope.
07:17And if you have no trust in Andrew Barry whatsoever,
07:19I understand how little hope that's going to be.
07:21But I'm not going to go, and if that makes me a little bit more boring about it,
07:25then fine.
07:26But I just can't subscribe to this thing is going to be incredible.
07:30This is going to be a much better offensive line.
07:34Teams do not set out to have to replace four-fifths
07:37and possibly five-fifths of their offensive line in free agency.
07:41So that's a very big risk.
07:43And so it's not like it's 4D chess, laser eyes, Barry,
07:46because he'd rather have some guys that he drafted
07:48that are still involved in there.
07:50That's not what it is.
07:51But I just don't know if it's going to suck out loud
07:53to the point where this thing's going to be an unmitigated disaster
07:56because of what they've done in free agency.
07:58I still don't know yet.
07:59I got to get more evidence before I start to draw a conclusion
08:02one way or the other.
08:02And again, even when you bring up,
08:04it's got to be easily the biggest mystery that they have going into the season.
08:07Because even when you bring up the head coach,
08:08there's plenty of people that are on the internet,
08:11on PFF, who question him,
08:14and then any player loves him, thinks that he's the best.
08:17I tend to go with players on this because I want to,
08:19because I want what's best for the team.
