01:17about foundation and it's interesting because your characters since the villain but it's not the
01:27villain of the story so how did you manage this balance between uh what's good and bad that it's
01:35uh more gray in foundation i i think if if if you give me the if you give me the
01:41lines you give me
01:41the screen time and you give me the opportunity i'm pretty good at making layered characters they
01:47might be a bit over the top i might be a bit too laughy i might be a bit too
01:51much in some of the scenes
01:52but if you give me the time and and space to create something that is intriguing and mesmerizing but
01:59also uh very violent and brutal and unpredictable i'm pretty good at it which doesn't make any sense
02:07because i'm probably the most boring man you'll ever meet i i like to drink beer eat pizza and watch
02:14netflix sometimes you know and mostly i like to hang out with my daughter um so yeah but it's part
02:22of
02:22your character the exaggeration no the the i can't help it i can't the charisma but but the mule the
02:31mule is the new the mule needs to bring something fresh the mule needs to bring something unpredictable
02:37the mule needs to bring chaos and the reason why is because you need to have the two worlds collaborate
02:44instead of collide and with the two worlds i'm meeting the empire and foundation and i think like you
02:51just said the only thing that harrison selden couldn't predict was the unpredictable mule
02:57and that gives that adds so much to a character and i only have a few scenes in this season
03:05but every
03:06single scene is more or less evolving around the mule his presence in the scenes uh there even though
03:15he's not present physically in the scenes and and that's incredible it's like a shakespeare play you
03:23know shakespeare where they talk about oh the king is coming the king is coming oh how we're going to
03:27receive the king the king is coming have you heard the king killed oh god yeah the king is coming
03:31and
03:32then finally when the king arrives he just goes on stage and he goes like the king is here and
03:37the
03:37the audience goes like yay we've been waiting we've been waiting two hours to see the king
03:44maybe we need one character one thing that psychically changes the the cuts on the table yeah i think it's
03:52important sometimes especially on tv shows it's a different approach when you're making a film you
03:59it's a completely different world it's a completely different set of skills you need to use creating
04:04that the work acting work is the same but the storytelling is completely different from films
04:10than it is to tv um to tv you can you can take more time you can spend more time
04:16on the characters
04:17you can do more scenes that are not so driven by plot but more by layered uh layer more dimension
04:24to
04:24characters yeah you know better than from game of thrones exactly exactly um also an amazing production
04:32to be brought upon yeah to be a new entry but i have i have to say it was it
04:38was incredible being
04:39part of game of thrones and i truly loved it but i had the same feeling when when when i
04:44met the cast
04:44and crew on foundation they were so welcoming uh it it really felt like an extended family at the end

04:52the shoot the power to control other minds of your character is maybe a symbol of today politics of
05:00of politics in general since the time period we are living in you said it i didn't um i don't

05:09to go into a big political discussion about the political arena today but um with great literature
05:17which foundation is based on uh of course this show will also reflect the political world we're
05:24living in today i don't think it's intended we shot this two years ago but i have to say there's

05:30lot of similarities in the show that you can take out and you can mirror on the political landscape of
