00:07Ok, you jump on a moving train with the foundation
00:12because you have now in the season 3 a very important role.
00:19How did you experience entering in an already established group of actors?
00:25It depends on the production because if the production is a bad one, it's terrible.
00:33It's really a horrible experience.
00:35But like on Game of Thrones, it was so established, it was so wonderful and people were so friendly
00:40and they had created their characters so they had a lot of, I don't know what this is called in English,
00:48but they had a lot of goodwill towards newcomers.
00:52And foundation is, you know, different time periods, different seasons.
00:59So on foundation, they were just so friendly.
01:03David was just amazing, welcoming me.
01:06The cast and especially the crew were just so open-minded and really, really lovely.
01:12So it wasn't really a big challenge.
01:14And there was a lot of respect about me because the mule had such a huge impact in this season.
01:22So people were like a little bit like, oh, oh, oh, it's the mule.
01:27It's the mule.
01:28It's here.
01:29And I'm like, you guys know it's fiction, right?
01:32I'm just deluded.
01:33They backed up a train of the character.
01:36Should we go out and eat tonight?
01:38Yeah, sure, sure, sure, sure.
01:40You know?
01:41It was wonderful.
01:42And let's talk about the mule, without spoiler, of course.
01:49If you had to describe the character in a few words, who is the mule?
01:55How would you define him?
01:57Chaotic?
02:00Lost?
02:02Melancholic?
02:04Sad?
02:05Enough about me.
02:07What about the mule?
02:07He's misunderstood.
02:14He's misunderstood.
02:15He's trying to do his best, but under the given circumstances, he's not allowed to.
02:22He wants to take over the world.
02:24He wants to be a leader.
02:25He wants to be a good leader.
02:27And he thinks foundation and empire aren't doing a good enough job.
02:31He needs to be a dictatorship, which is very, like the world is today in some political arenas.
02:42He's a man of our time.
02:45Yeah.
02:45Apparently, you know what?
02:48I think a lot of viewers are going to watch him and be like, yeah, he looks like our, I don't know, political head of whatever.
02:58You know what I mean?
02:59And the character, obviously, is an adaptation.
03:03He exists in books and in screenplay.
03:08But did you have any impact on him when you built the character?
03:14Did you bring something from your experience, your point of view in the mule?
03:19I think it's very important that when you get a job offer that you try to visualize and fulfill your assignment as how it was written with the writers and the showrunner.
03:32You can always add a little bit of elements to the character, but if you always change the character so it fits you, you always end up portraying the same character.
03:42The mule is very much there.
03:44This is very much the vision of David Goya and how he wanted it portrayed.
03:51Of course, it is a different adaptation from the books, but that is what is called creative freedom.
03:58So I really wanted to elaborate on what David wanted for the character.
04:04Of course, I brought in bits and pieces.
04:07I had an idea for the first scene, the one with the finger.
04:12That was my idea.
04:14Which I thought would be fun because one thing is the spaceships around him.
04:19Another thing is what he is capable of doing to other human beings.
04:26And I thought that was very important to illustrate in the first scene.
04:32Okay.
04:33Thank you.
04:34Our time is over, but congratulations for this season and thank you very much.
