00:00...to create those contrasts.
00:03So I really had a great time playing someone who was relaxed,
00:09didn't try to control anything.
00:18Centuries ago, when it predicted the fall of the galaxy,
00:22the foundation was created to save humanity.
00:26Hi, very nice to meet you. Federico Vascotto from Italy.
00:30Hi, nice to meet you.
00:32We see in this new season, new and improved characters,
00:37starting with Brother Day, more free, more rebel, more in love.
00:41That was refreshing. How did you approach with this new aspect of the character,
00:46not only narratively, but also visually with the long hair and the rest?
00:52One of the fun things about playing this character is that I can make him
00:55as different as possible than he's been in the past.
01:00because he's still the same. He's the same man.
01:04So it's fun to create those contrasts.
01:09So I really had a great time playing someone who was relaxed,
01:14who didn't try to control anything, who just wanted to sit in the sun and get stoned
01:22and eat and play with his animals and hang out with his girlfriend
01:27and avoid all of the, you know, assholes in the palace who think they can control the galaxy
01:34because it's all a joke. You know, it's just, it's none of our business.
01:39We should just relax and do our own thing, which I think is a pretty contemporary point of view right
01:46now.
01:48But I think it, you know, it does develop in the story because as the mule makes his entrance,
01:54which is the mule is this mutant of chaos.
01:57And out of nowhere he appears and, you know, this, you know, these political priorities and stuff,
02:06none of that matters anymore because you've got this kind of black hole of chaos that is, you know, eating
02:14it,
02:15eating civilization from the inside out.
02:18And I think Day then kind of enters into that conflict with a very unique perspective.
02:29You know?
02:30Yeah.
02:30He's not trying to control anything.
02:32He's not.
02:33He's not trying to violence anything into happening the way he wants it to happen.
02:39So you are saying that we are so full of things today that we are, we only want to go
02:45to the sunset with the wind in the air like a rather day.
02:51Um, well, I think there's a lot of people who are, yeah, I think it's a very, well, at least
02:56in parts of the culture that I see that people are, yeah, checked out.
03:01It's overwhelming.
03:04I think one of the things that we try to do on Foundation is, is paint a picture of the
03:08galaxy that is vast.
03:10It's not just one big battle.
03:13It's very, it's a very, very complicated web of competing priorities, right?
03:20And when Harry Seldon predicts the fall of civilization, it's not the result of a big bloodbath that ends everything.
03:29It's a crumbling from the edges, from the inside.
03:33And this falls apart and that falls apart.
03:35And then the center falls out.
03:36And then where does that leave these trillions of people who are spread out across this vast space?
03:43So that's what I think is interesting about what it has taken us now two seasons to very slowly build
03:51that canvas.
03:52And now we enter the mule and the story starts getting pretty hot.
03:57Yeah, yeah, that's true.
03:59We see a new Demersel in a way too.
04:02She's becoming more human.
04:03She's glitching in a way.
04:05Don't you agree?
04:07I do.
04:08I do.
04:09I do.
04:09It feels like, well, unlike some characters, she's not able to just check out and let go.
04:16She carries her responsibilities and the burdens that she carry are immense.
04:20And she's the only character in the whole universe that remembers everything that has happened to humankind.
04:29And will know and will remember what will happen when it all crumbles down or falls.
04:35So there's this huge weight that she's carrying on her shoulders.
04:40And at the same time, I feel like there's this existential crisis that she's going through.
04:48So definitely there's a glitch, like a little, like a malfunction.
04:51And these two kind of two different, the whole fate of humanity and her inner struggle.
04:58Like what, what, where is she heading as a character?
05:02So definitely not like she's in a new space this season.
05:08This is where everything is headed.
05:28And it's a little, like, that it's gonna be like, she's trying to come.
05:43You're just trying to bump into the body.
