‘Obsessed Lover’ Arrested in Ujjain for Stealing Woman’s Innerwear, CCTV Exposes Bizarre Act

A strange incident has surfaced from Ujjain, where a 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a woman’s innerwear from outside her house. The act was captured on CCTV, which helped police identify and detain the accused.

The incident occurred in the Chimanganj Mandi Police Station area. According to police, the accused, Amit Malviya, lives in the same neighbourhood as the woman.

The woman had complained that her innerwear repeatedly went missing from the clothesline outside her house. Suspecting foul play, the family checked CCTV footage installed near their residence.

The footage reportedly showed the accused approaching the clothesline at night, looking around, and picking only the woman’s innerwear while leaving the rest of the clothes untouched. He was seen placing the garments in the pocket of his trousers before quietly leaving the spot.

After confirming the theft in the footage, the woman and her family approached the police and submitted the CCTV clip as evidence.

Station in-charge Gajendra Pachauri said the accused confessed during questioning that he was in one-sided love with the woman. He even claimed to have tattooed the woman’s name on his chest due to his obsession.

Police said the accused works in a private finance company and is engaged to be married. The woman, however, clarified that she had never spoken to him and had no idea about his claims.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway.

The bizarre case has sparked discussions in the locality and raised concerns about women’s safety.
