A disturbing incident has surfaced from Auraiya, where a woman and her sister were allegedly assaulted by her in-laws. A video of the incident is circulating on social media, prompting police to launch an investigation.

The victim, Akanksha Tiwari, was married to Shivkumar Tiwari on May 3, 2023. The couple has a 16-month-old daughter named Shreya. However, Shivkumar passed away on August 28, 2025, after which Akanksha alleges that harassment from her in-laws intensified.

According to her complaint, her father-in-law Mahendra Babu Tiwari and sisters-in-law Soni Tiwari and Ruchi Tiwari repeatedly pressured her to leave the house. She claims they abused, threatened, and assaulted her on several occasions after her husband’s death.

Akanksha said she had earlier contacted the police helpline and authorities intervened to settle the dispute. However, tensions reportedly continued.

About a month ago, Akanksha informed her parents about the ongoing harassment. Her father Manoj Kumar and younger sister Pratiksha came to Auraiya, and Pratiksha had been staying with her since then.

The latest incident reportedly occurred around noon on March 8, 2026. Akanksha alleged that her father-in-law abused both sisters and ordered them to leave the house. When she objected, Mahendra Babu Tiwari and the two sisters-in-law allegedly assaulted her inside the house.

She further claimed that Soni and Ruchi dragged her outside while abusing her and continued beating her, causing internal injuries.

During the assault, Pratiksha recorded part of the incident on her mobile phone. The video has now been submitted to the police as evidence.

Police in Auraiya said they have taken cognisance of the viral video and initiated an investigation. Officials added that appropriate legal action will be taken against the accused if the allegations are confirmed.
