Speeding Audi Mows Down Foreign Woman in Zirakpur, Dies on Spot; Driver on the Run

A foreign woman was killed in a late-night road accident in Zirakpur after a speeding Audi car allegedly ran her over on VIP Road near M‑Care Hospital around midnight.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, identified as Mavluda, had come to the hospital with her friend Abhishek alias Abhi to visit a patient. After leaving the hospital, the two were walking along the main road when a black Audi car, reportedly moving at high speed, struck Mavluda while she was crossing the road.

The impact was so severe that she was thrown nearly 14 feet into the air and landed on the other side of the road. She suffered critical injuries and died on the spot due to heavy bleeding. Abhishek, who was walking with her, sustained minor injuries.

Abhishek told police that Mavluda had come to the hospital to check on his pregnant wife who had been admitted there. As they stepped outside and approached the road, the speeding vehicle suddenly hit them.

Local residents informed the police control room soon after the accident. However, some witnesses alleged that police reached the spot nearly an hour later, which led to anger among people gathered at the scene.

Police later took the body into custody and sent it to the mortuary at the Civil Hospital in Dera Bassi. Officials are now examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the Audi driver.

Investigating officer Raj Kumar said the deceased has been identified as a foreign national. Her sister is currently travelling from Turkey to India, and further procedures, including the post-mortem, will be conducted after her arrival.
