01:02You're from York Region and now you're thinking country life's for you.

01:06We met in graduate school in Sudbury, Ontario and a friend of ours set us up.
01:13And so we met around the July long weekend.
01:17We have two kids.

01:20Boy and a girl.
01:21They're 11, so they're great.
01:23And I think this lifestyle would really appeal to them.
01:27What we love about Orillia is the lifestyle.
01:29And when I was young, about the age of my kids, my parents had a cottage up this way.
01:35And so really, it's always been a really nice spot, good lifestyle, a nice community.
01:43You know, I like open spaces, so open kitchen, living room, dining.
01:49More than an acre.
01:50Yeah.
01:51At least an acre.
01:52Yeah.
01:52Would be good.
01:53But not, we're not looking for like a 50 foot lot.
01:56So something that's an acre or more, we're definitely open to.
01:58If it was move and ready, that would be great.
02:00But we're open to doing any cosmetic fixes or that kind of thing is needed.
02:05So, you know, having a kitchen that, you know, I can still cook, but still be part of
02:10what's going on in the house.
02:12That would be amazing.
02:16So we can look up to probably $3 million.
02:20So I would think it's a fair budget, given the location and the value you can get north
02:25of the city.
02:26So we'll see what's out there in our price range.
02:30Orillia, Ontario is a scenic town nestled between Lake Simcoe and Lake Cucuchiching,
02:35about 90 minutes north of Toronto.
02:37Known for its beautiful waterfronts and outdoor activities,
02:41it offers a relaxed small town vibe with a vibrant art scene and inviting cafes.
02:47It's the perfect spot for Sarah and Ligaya, who are looking for a peaceful community surrounded
02:52by nature while still being close to the city.
03:00All right. We have three amazing houses to tour today, all with different personalities to them, really.
03:04So house number one here is pretty spectacular.
03:08You can see from here, it's so picture postcard perfect.
03:13It's had a ton of updates done to it.
03:16So that might be beneficial to you because there's not as much work to do.
03:19Driving up the long driveway, it's got a figure eight driveway, lots of outdoor space.
03:25This reminds me of being in the country.
03:28Like I don't see my neighbours, you know, I don't hear them.

03:33So I'm excited to see what it has to offer.

03:58First thing I noticed when we walked in, how open the space was that there was two zones for the

04:10I did like the two sitting areas because, you know, our kids could be in one area watching TV,
04:17but we could be having a conversation in the other area. So I really love that.
04:21It's actually a lot more open than I was expecting.

04:24I guess because it has been nicely renovated, so everything's been opened up.
04:29This feels like a really great entertaining space.

06:44The one thing that I would change in that primary is I'd probably put, you know, maybe a reading
06:49nook in there, maybe some shelves for some books, but otherwise.

06:58I think it's going to be way over our budget.

13:22I think they've done a great job with this kind of tiered effect coming out the back and then dropping
13:27down to a really nice flat space.
13:30You know, you really get the sense of value.
13:33Like this really, for me, sends home the impressiveness of what you can get for your money.

15:49It's still really inviting.
15:50Is there changes that you would make to this kitchen to make it more suit your taste or your

15:56I think if anything, I would just brighten.
16:01Brighten it a little bit.
16:02Maybe a backsplash.

16:03Like I noticed they don't have a backsplash.

16:06You know, I like Amanda's idea of putting a backsplash in.
16:10And I think that would brighten it and change the feel of it a bit.
16:14I do love the richness of the kitchen and the high quality because I think it does show

16:23And I feel like this is very easy to live with for a long time.

19:35I've been enjoying all these beautiful homes in Orillia and I really wanted to get a sense from a local
19:41of what it's truly, truly like to live here in beautiful Orillia.
19:45So, I know you're running this amazing cafe but what is your day-to-day like family life here?
19:50It's really wonderful that Orillia has so many beautiful lakes and beaches and there's so much for us to do.
19:57The arts culture and the theatre culture is huge so we go and enjoy a lot of shows at the
20:02Opera House and there really is something for everybody in Orillia.
20:06I love that.
20:11Tell me a story about how you came to have the vision for your beautiful cafe here.
20:16Well, we originated in the back of an antique shop which was just down on this block five doors down.
20:22You're running a cafe in the back of an antique shop.
20:24I love that.
20:25It was like diners, drive-ins and dives but it was way cooler because we serve really healthy food.
20:31People coming in to dine with us is a way for us to give back to the community, right?
20:34And again, it's the same way as supporting local and keeping it sustainable and in this community of giving and
20:40just the circle of Orillia, I guess we'll call it.
20:43You've done so much for the community.
20:45You're such an impressive person and the restaurant is absolutely amazing.
20:48So, it was such a pleasure talking with you today and I can't wait to explore more of Orillia.

21:08Well, ladies, what an exciting few days we've had together really.

21:15I've actually been thinking about them too and thinking back on them, I'm kind of in my mind dreaming about
21:20this as if it was my money and I was going to buy this house.
21:23So, let's look back on the houses a little bit just so we can refresh our memory.
21:27So, house number one, so much acreage.
21:30That house really had that mix of the clean lines with the charm.
21:35What I really loved about that house was coming in and it's all open.
21:39I loved the two ponds, right?

21:42Spring-fed ponds, the trails, because I do love running and taking the kids outside, the trails there.

21:50I think we all kind of gasped at that house with happiness when we saw it.

21:57But I really liked the kind of blue-gray exterior to that house.
22:01I loved the color too and I loved that porch.
