00:00Sal, Dawson Knox restructures.
00:02This is not unforeseen.
00:03What are the ramifications?
00:07So you guys know, every time we've brought this up, this to me was always the most preferred outcome
00:13and what I think could wind up happening unless Dawson Knox.
00:16The only way I thought this wasn't happening was really if Dawson Knox said,
00:19no, I'm not doing that.
00:20That would mean basically a pay cut.
00:21You know, you could send me to free agency.
00:23But where, you know, what is he getting on the open market?
00:26Now, we all talked about Brian D'Abel in Tennessee, Dawson being from Tennessee.
00:31That could be a natural fit.
00:32But then the Giants go out and sign a tight end for $8 million.
00:34Are they going to look into Dawson Knox?
00:36Are his representatives, you know, trying to make that happen?
00:39And not that he could talk to anybody, right?
00:40I'm not suggesting that because he's under contract.
00:42But when you look at the landscape, you think about things like this.
00:45I think overall, this is the best outcome for the Bills.
00:48They have a player they value tremendously on the field for what he's been able to do for this team
00:53since he came here.
00:54And especially a year like last year when he was relied on more than people thought he would have had,
00:58you know, 400 plus yards receiving.
01:01He had four touchdowns.
01:03But also what he means to this locker room and to the people around him.
01:06And we've heard stories about how Dawson's been very much a guy that they lean on.
01:09Some of the younger players and moments of, you know, need of wanting to get through some things,
01:14even including Dalton Kincaid a couple of years ago after the Kansas City game.
01:18So now Dawson Knox gets to the way the contract works, stay in Buffalo for the next three years.
01:24Maybe he finishes his career here.
01:26His wife is from here.
01:27They have a family they've just started.
01:29To me, it all fits.
01:30And we'll see where the numbers are.
01:32I don't see.
01:33Have you guys seen any numbers specifically on it?
01:34I have not seen numbers yet, no.
01:36No, me neither.
01:40I'm just looking at SpotTrack.
01:41I don't see anything that sometimes Mike will have it.
01:43But my guess is, guys, out of the $17 million cap, he had a $9.90 million, a $10 million
01:49essentially base salary.
01:51You now get two more years to spread that out.
01:54And my guess is they'll add a void year or two.
01:56You might have five years to spread that $10 million out if you convert it to a signing bonus.
02:00You could lower his cap it to like $5 million, really.
02:02I mean, you could be looking at that.
02:03And that's $12 million cleared if they do that.
