00:00What for you is or was the most significant development of the last 72 hours from the Bills?
00:09Hmm, good question.
00:12There's a few things because they think that there's more like stuff from the 53 than there was the last
00:18few years.
00:19To me, I think the most significant development would be something we don't know.
00:27Who's going to be the punt returner?
00:29How are they going to handle it?
00:30They did not keep someone for it.
00:32Now, maybe that sounds a little trivial.
00:34So I could say a fourth tight end and no fullback was very significant to me as well.
00:40And now that fullback is reportedly joining the Kansas City practice squad.
00:47Ben Van Sumeren.
00:49Right, right.
00:50Let's not say they couldn't find someone else.
00:52I mean, we can't know sitting here whether or not the Bills would have liked him on their practice squad.
00:59It feels like if you spend all of camp here with a team and if you think you see a
01:04way to a reasonable amount of game day activations, depending on opponent, whatever game script you're thinking of, then maybe
01:12you would just stay put.
01:13Maybe they don't want a fullback.
01:15That's how I felt.
01:17Maybe, Sal, have you said that?
01:19That maybe they're phasing that position out from their roster?
01:24Well, I'm going to go back to what Joe Brady said a few months ago, and we all kind of
01:28poo-pooed it, even me.
01:30I'm like, eh, no, come on.
01:31They want a fullback.
01:31He said, I'm not going to keep a fullback just to keep a fullback.
01:35He said, if it works out, it works out.
01:38And most of us, including me, were like, no, he's going to keep a fullback.
01:41Like, you had Reggie Gilliam in the same offense.
01:43You have the league's leading rusher.
01:44You're going to keep a fullback.
01:45And then people said, yeah, but, you know, if you want, Jackson Hawes can do that, which may be the
01:51case here.
01:51And, sure enough, they bring in two fullbacks, Jackson Acker and Ben Van Sumeren.
01:58And at the end of the day, they don't keep either.
02:00Jackson Acker was released a while ago.
02:02Ben Van Sumeren released now.
02:04So they don't have a fullback.
02:05If they want to put a fullback on the practice squad, they can revisit Jackson Acker, a free agent from
02:10Wisconsin.
02:10They can do that.
02:11I would also tell you guys, if they really wanted to add a fullback to the 53,
02:14they could actually offer Ben Van Sumeren a contract.
02:17Sure.
02:17I mean, he'll be on the, he's a free agent when he sits on the chief's practice squad.
02:21They could do that.
02:22So there's still things they could do, but I do think it's notable.
02:25It's also notably four tight ends.
02:27It's one thing to not have a fullback, but now you have four tight ends.
02:29And even if you want Jackson Hawes to play that role, keeping four tight ends is interesting.
02:34So I think maybe it's, okay, we could use Jackson Hawes as an H-back.
02:39Reggie Gilliam was more fullback than tight end.
02:41Jackson Hawes would be tight end, then fullback.
02:43You could do it.
02:44And I do wonder if there's any bit of, we got a guy on the roster that if we, if
02:49we need
02:49to at all back off Dalton Kincaid on a week to week basis, we could do that with another
02:53pass catcher.
02:54In Latu.
02:55Yeah.
02:56I do feel like it's notable.
02:58Well, maybe that as you're laying that out, Hawes is really the only one that you would
03:03consider, I guess Knox could do it in a pinch if you needed him to do it, but, but really
03:08Hawes is the, is the guy for that.
03:10And so now if you go into a game and you have a fullback and you're planning on using him
03:16and something were to happen to him, you always had Hawes as a fallback probably.
03:21Right now that's gone.
03:23Like Hawes is really the only guy that I think you've got that you would say that's, that's
03:28his role.
03:28So I don't know, maybe it is, we'll see if, if all this holds, you know, we do have that
03:34extra, we got an extra week here as a buffer before we get to the openers and everything.
03:40But maybe it is a step away from, I mean, currently they don't have a fullback and maybe
03:45that was with, with real intent.
03:48Could very well be.
03:49I mean, I think the bills want to be an attacking offense.
03:53I think they want to throw the ball down the field and, you know, maybe there's no reason
03:57to have one, a fullback, because you just, you know what you can get out of James Cook
04:01in the, in the running game, especially if you spread the field and they plan on doing
04:05that.
04:06And they have Dalton Kincaid who, you know, they can use as a wide receiver, as a flex
04:10position.
04:10They have five wide receivers who I think they've all, they were all kind of spoken for from
04:15the very beginning, right?
04:16We all knew the five wide receivers.
04:17The only question was, would they keep a six for special teams, Trent Shurfield?
04:21But I think that they have a mindset to be an attacking team.
04:24And maybe that means that the fullback isn't used as much.
04:27So therefore they say, let's keep somebody somewhere else.
04:31Sal Capaccio with us.
04:32I got to find out how often the bills threw the ball last year with their fullback on the
04:38field.
04:39Wonder what the number would be percentage wise and how that compares around the league.
04:43I mentioned Houston earlier because I thought it was interesting that they kept only two running
04:49backs.
04:50They did keep a fullback too.
04:52I'm putting that separate British Brooks.
04:53So they have two running backs and a fullback in Houston.
04:59How big a loss is pride, Sal, leaving for the Browns?
05:04I mean, as a player, I don't think it's that big of a loss.
05:07As a player you didn't feel was good enough for your 53-man roster, you drafted him.
05:13But, you know, it's an investment that you made that you can't see through.
05:17That can happen.
05:18It happened a few years ago with Alex Austin.
05:21Remember him?
05:22He was a draft pick of the Bills.
05:24The same thing happened.
05:25He got claimed by the Patriots.
05:26And then that same year, he picked off Josh Allen in a game, actually.
05:30He was actually recently waived by his, I think he was on the Dolphins.
05:33He's been a couple of teams removed from that.
05:34So those things can happen.
05:35Where it matters is your depth.
05:37You know, you have a guy here who you brought in, you drafted in the end of April.
05:43He's been through all your OTAs, your mini camps.
05:45He's learned the system.
05:47He goes to preseason.
05:48He goes to training camp.
05:50And then all of a sudden, you just lose him.
05:51And now you've got to replace him.
05:53And interestingly enough, Todd Munkin today said that he was asked about, like, how you found, you know, why you
06:02grabbed Toriano Pride.
06:03He said it was the joint practice.
06:06He said they had a joint practice, and he stood out.
06:08And they were like, okay, well, here's a guy that we really like.
06:11Let's monitor that.
06:12The way it generally works, guys, is this tells me a team like the Browns, you know, the Browns probably
06:19had, like, a draftable grade on them.
06:21Generally, if you're going to claim a guy, a rookie, it's probably because you had a draftable grade as your
06:27team.
06:27You felt that he was one of the 257 best players available in the college draft.
06:31But you didn't get your hands on him.
06:33So you kind of monitor him.
06:35You see what he's got.
06:36And then you say he's got to be better than these undrafted rookies we brought in.
06:38We had a draftable grade on him, even though we didn't draft him.
06:40So that's generally what happens here.
06:42It's not necessarily because they flash and had these splash plays.
06:45You know, you get Kanai Walker.
06:47We all kind of thought that he was going to make the team.
06:48He didn't because of those splash plays.
06:50And you see the athleticism.
06:52But teams from afar are watching.
06:54And they're not watching that as much as they're saying, hey, let's go back to our priors on what we
06:59evaluated these guys.
07:00And if any of them become available, we can grab them.
07:01And for me, it's more about the depth there.
07:03You still have Anthony Kendall and Jordan Dunbar.
07:05But right now, big development.
07:07You know, you guys asked me, what are the significance?
07:10Three outside corners on this team.
07:11And I think that's notable.
07:13What is the timeline on the practice squad moves?
07:16Is it all going to happen quickly?
07:19My assumption is we will get – yeah, it's all happening now.
07:22In fact, there's been already reports about guys joining the practice squad.
07:26Gino Smith, Kanai Walker.
07:27I just saw that from Ryan Talbot.
07:28Gino Stone.
07:29Can I – yeah, Gino Stone.
07:31I've done that a million times, by the way.
07:33It's not a – it's a very understandable mistake to make.
07:37There's nothing to be ashamed of, I think, in that one.
07:40Gino Stone, Shane Buschel.
07:42I think there's a report there.
07:45Jamori Macklin.
07:46So, anyway, those things are happening now.
07:48They'll finalize that.
07:49The Bills would, I'm sure, love to get these guys in the building by tomorrow's practice.
07:53And that's when we will probably get – you know, when we go out to practice before that, generally,
07:57we'll get something from the team saying, here are the guys we've signed to the practice squad.
08:01Because otherwise, we're going to go out to practice and see them anyway.
08:03Right?
08:03So, they're going to be out there and, you know, running around.
08:06So, that'll happen tomorrow.
08:07And there's no – you know, the practice squad is fluid for the whole year.
08:11So, there's no time limit on it.
08:13You can always be adjusting and churning it over.
08:16But I think they'd like to get it mostly settled, if not all settled, by tomorrow before practice.
08:20I know.
08:20Usually, there's a day each year.
08:23And it feels like around now when the practice squad stuff is happening.
08:26Also, we get into the season and it's like, well, how many elevations?
08:30What are the rules?
08:32Like, you know, are the Bills going to run out of guys that they want to elevate?
08:36Because you mentioned, like, Shurfield is an example.
08:38Right?
08:39Like, you said, like, you know, if they keep six, he's six.
08:41If they don't, maybe they practice squad him and they can elevate him.
08:45How long – how many of those – is it different for vested veterans versus, you know, guys that are
08:51in year one or year two of their careers?
08:54Are the rules different for different guys?
08:56And how many – like, if Trent Shurfield does end up on their practice squad and they want to elevate
09:01him, how many times can they do that?
09:04Three.
09:06Three for the season.
09:07And if they do it a fourth time, they'd have to put him through waivers and any team can then
09:11claim him.
09:13So, you get three and then – and that goes for the whole year.
09:16So, even if that were the case, you couldn't come back and start to be re-elevated.
09:19So, everybody on the team for the season, even if you went to another team and came back to the
09:23Bills, you only get three with the Bills.
09:25And that resets for the postseason.
09:27But three for the season.
09:28He would be a candidate week one for sure to say, like, okay, we need another guy.
09:32Special teams help out.
09:33Gives us a sixth receiver.
09:34I found it very interesting today that this report from Jordan Schultz about Geno Stone that said that Geno Stone
09:40was going to rejoin the Bills practice squad.
09:43And in that same tweet, he wrote, and the expectation is for him to be on the active game day
09:48roster week one.
09:49And I'm like, well, how would you know that already?
09:52Like, the only thing I can think of is somebody, somebody from Geno Stone's camp, Geno Stone is Agent Weber,
10:01kind of told maybe or has the thought that maybe C.J. Gardner Johnson's not available?
10:07Like, is that something that he's been told?
10:11I'm not really sure.
10:12Like, that's weird.
10:13The Bills are certainly not going to tip their hand on what elevations they're going to have, especially if it
10:19involves a starting player that might be injured.
10:20That they think, as of right now, won't be playing week one.
10:23Now, C.J. Gardner Johnson was not put on IR.
10:25Anyway, I just think that's weird to put that out there right now, to be quite honest with you.
10:28Now, Bulldog asked me the exact same question two hours ago.
10:32And maybe my theory doesn't hold water.
10:34Could the Bills have been the ones to share that information, you know, privately?
10:39Is there a scenario where he's on the practice squad, but somebody else takes him off the practice squad,
10:44and the Bills wouldn't want people to prepare themselves for that possibility?
10:50I guess there's a scenario for that always, but it doesn't feel like it would happen with this particular player.
10:56But, yeah, maybe you're right.
10:59Maybe it's, hey, we want the league to know.
11:02That could definitely be a message.
11:04Don't imagine that, though.
11:04We want the league to know that we like this guy enough.
11:06Don't go sniffing around him and taking him, and he's not going to come to you.
11:10That's the problem with the scenario.
11:12And Sale said it, too.
11:13Why would they need to do that for Geno Stone?
11:16Like, I don't know.
11:17It's just, like, I don't know.
11:18It's just odd.
11:19You don't have to stand outside your front door with a triangle, like, come and get him.
11:23But, you know, you might not need to go so far as to try to ward off the rest of
11:27the league.
11:28Right.
11:30Yeah, I mean, I know Jim Leonard does like him.
11:32I mean, he's talked very highly of him.
11:35I think the Bills, and Jim Leonard specifically, are higher on Geno Stone than the media and the fans
11:40who cover the team and follow the team, I just thought that was weird to say that because
11:44we don't get any injury reports until next Wednesday.
11:47Like, a whole week's going to go by before we get that.
11:48We don't know anything about C.J. Gardner-Johnson status or Keon Coleman or Khalil Shakir right now.
11:52A lot of that stuff we're going to start figuring out tomorrow and Wednesday and go out to practice.
11:57But to say the expectation is for him to be on the active game day roster,
12:00that could literally just be his agent wanting to drum up interest for him, too, by the way,
12:05and telling Jordan Schultz that because they want to go somewhere and be on a 53.
12:09Hey, the Bills are going to, you better do it.
12:11So you can go both ways with that.
12:13Bulldog, do you have a triangle, by the way?
12:14You're a music guy.
12:15Have you ever stood outside your front door banging on a triangle to get people to come,
12:18I don't know, take your stuff?
12:20I do not, I don't know.
12:21I have no triangle.
12:22I have, like, you know, music class in elementary school.
12:26Maybe that's the last time I was in a room with a triangle.
12:29Okay.
12:30I think I have one.
12:31I mean, that's a percussion instrument.
12:32You're a drum guy.
12:33That's right.
12:34Different percussion instruments lying around, yes.
12:36Maybe we probably should get back to the roster stuff and whatever else,
12:40but I want to make sure you get at least one question about the grass.
12:45So for anybody who might have gone to Kentucky for a few days, say,
12:49and been out of the loop, what is going on with the field?
12:52Like, is this something where what I read was, oh, I mean,
12:57speaking of who says what to whom, oh, it passed inspection,
13:01but they're actually literally going to replace the field already?
13:05They are replacing the field already, yes.
13:06I mean, what is going on there?
13:10Yeah, this was not expected as far as I'm concerned.
13:14We had been kind of told that, you know, they were happy with it
13:18or didn't, you know, didn't need that in whatever form,
13:21but suddenly we're hearing this, and this came out,
13:24I believe the first person to report it was Lance Lysowski,
13:27the Buffalo News, over the weekend to give him credit,
13:29and I believe, like, he had some quotes from Pete Welly about it
13:33and, you know, basically saying, hey, we want to make sure
13:35that we have the best, you know, surface we can have
13:37and our players are comfortable with it and injuries
13:39and not having any injuries and things like that.
13:42So this was kind of a surprise to me since, now, I am not,
13:47this is not my area of expertise, but since I've, you know,
13:50talked to people who've reached out and said, well, you know,
13:53when you cultivate grass, this has to happen in a lot of the southern states,
13:57it's a little bit different here.
13:58Okay, here's what I can tell you.
14:01I have been to a lot of different NFL stadiums,
14:04and some of those stadiums have grass,
14:05and a lot of those stadiums have grass, like Miami or Pittsburgh, for example.
14:10They play multiple games there, not just NFL games.
14:14Pitt plays at that stadium.
14:16High schools play at that stadium.
14:17Miami, the Hurricanes play a game on Saturday,
14:21and then the Dolphins play on a Sunday.
14:22It happens routinely.
14:23So I have heard of this happening before, where teams and stadiums will replace the grass.
14:30It's generally, though, the times I've heard of it is when those things are happening,
14:34multiple events.
14:36For example, Pittsburgh is notorious for having bad field conditions, right?
14:39We know that.
14:40I think we've all even seen, you can probably remember examples where it looks like they just replaced between the
14:45hash marks.
14:46Like, it's all fresh and green there, and the rest of it's passable, but it's a different color.
14:52It's worn out.
14:52It's been exposed to the elements, and the new stuff stands out.
14:55New England used to be like that before they replaced their field.
14:58Yeah.
14:59Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you.
15:00I just couldn't wait.
15:01No, that's okay.
15:01I mean, I remember last year going to Pittsburgh, and I believe it was that week.
15:07Like, the high school championships might have been played the week before that.
15:10And Pitt was playing in that field and everything, and they re-sodded.
15:13And it was like, oh, yeah, they got – because it was always a thing where they never did that
15:16in Pittsburgh,
15:16or, you know, it just always got so bad.
15:18And that was kind of a story.
15:19And it held up well.
15:20So it's not unique.
15:21It's not different.
15:22Teams with grass fields re-sod.
15:24They do this.
15:25I just haven't seen or known, because maybe I just haven't paid attention either to these new stadiums
15:30and when these things happen and how common that is, because it didn't feel like it was going to happen
15:34here.
15:35Yeah, I would think it was not something you planned for.
15:38Like, oh, let's install the field, let it grow for, you know, 10 months, and then we'll play on it.
15:45And like, oh, let's tear it up and put a new one in.
15:47Like, there's no way that was the plan.
15:49So something missed here, I guess, is what happened.
15:51Can anybody in sports anymore not be the guy from Monty Python, the Black Knight in Monty Python,
15:57where, like, no matter if you're getting all your limbs cut off, it's actually no problem?
16:01It's just a flesh wound.
16:03I mean, is anything in sports ever not a flesh wound?
16:05Well, can we just be sort of like, yeah, this isn't going the way we wanted,
16:09and we're going to replace the field?
16:11They haven't hosted a regular season game yet.
16:13Right.
16:14And they have three in a row, you know, starting with Detroit.
16:17And there was going to be enough attention on it to begin with because of how, I mean,
16:24the players weren't exactly complimentary of it after the blue and red.
16:28Like, the first time on it, there were some, you know, there were some quotes.
16:32I won't use them, but I think people might know what I'm talking about.
16:36That, you know, anonymous, you know, players said whatever.
16:40So, it was going to be a subject when we got to the regular season,
16:43and that certainly isn't going to change because they resodded it.
16:46Because now it's going to be like, how quickly does the new field take
16:50and are chunks of it coming up when guys try to cut on it?
16:54Yeah.
16:55Agreed.
16:56I mean, it remains to be seen, you know, what's going to happen here
17:00until they play a game on it or they practice.
17:04And, I mean, as far as I know, the practices this week are going to be inside
17:08or outside the practice facility, not the stadium.
17:12But, you know, I don't know if they'll get in there before their first game
17:16to practice, actually, or if the media will be allowed any of those practices.
17:19But, yeah, it's going to be interesting.
17:21I was surprised by it, and it was, like, surprising to all of us, I think.
17:25It was a story that none of us were kind of expecting
17:27and then suddenly kind of came out of nowhere, and, you know,
17:30they're going to be doing this.
17:31So, we'll have to see where it goes.
17:33It seems like it must have surprised them, too.
17:36And I want to, while recognizing that something went wrong
17:40because this could not have been the plan all along,
17:42I'll give them credit for at least not being too proud to pivot.
17:47Right.
17:47You know, when they still had time.
17:49Like, we've got to do something because this is bad,
17:51and that's what they're doing.
17:52So, we'll see how it works, but something had to be done.
17:56I mean, at one point Thursday, Sal, I saw, like, I don't know,
17:59like almost a foot-long hunk of turf in a ball right at the scene of the play.
18:04I'm just like, that doesn't look good at all.
18:07Like, what are we doing here?
18:08The first time I ever heard about it, and I'm sure Sal could beat this,
18:11but was minutes before the Carolina game when I was watching the pregame show
18:15on Channel 4, and the three guys were talking about, you know,
18:18which receiver to watch out for or something.
18:21And Tim Graham was like, yeah, I see, like, chunks of the field are coming up.
18:26And, you know, maybe watch for that.
18:28And the play I'm thinking of is Kyle Allen, who slid,
18:30and a big piece of the field came out, and the next day I was in here,
18:34like, maybe sliding is bad.
18:36Right.
18:36It's not, Sal, it's not my area of expertise either,
18:39but I have heard since the Bills went to grass,
18:42we've never had to really talk about it before or care about it necessarily,
18:45but that people intuitively think grass is safer, and it's not.
18:51Like, the stats don't really tell you that.
18:55And I think maybe that's because turf isn't really turf anymore.
18:58I mean, it's a long, it's a far cry from the old stadium and the concrete.
19:03Yes.
19:04Right.
19:04Like, that's gotten more sophisticated.
19:06So, I don't know.
19:07Like, this is just the beginning of the story here for the new place,
19:10but interesting that they're having to do this already.
19:13Maybe some of this, maybe the stats say that.
19:15I wouldn't push back on that.
19:17I will tell you, though, I've talked with enough players,
19:19the players prefer grass.
19:20They feel like they're safer.
19:23They prefer to play on grass.
19:25And the only one I can remember that I would tell you that said to me
19:28he didn't care was Bradley Chubb.
19:29But he's like, I don't really care.
19:31But pretty much any player I talk to definitely has preferred grass.
19:35I believe it.
19:35I mean, that's just, again, intuitive.
19:37Yeah.
19:37Those guys, the players are not looking at the charts.
19:40But provided it holds up.
19:41Because, like, the problem you run into with what was happening
19:44with the original turf field in this new Bill Stadium
19:47is that it's just as dangerous, if not more dangerous,
19:49than the seams in the turf.
19:51Because if you can't count on your footing, then, I mean, that's everything.
19:55There's grass, there's turf, and then there's MetLife.
19:58Right.
19:58So there's definitely a range.
20:01Sal, as we almost have run out of time here,
20:04is there, as a lot of all the rosters around the NFL are kind of in flux
20:09with practice squad additions and players still moving around today,
20:13is there a position or are there positions where you think the Bills have their eyes on,
20:17you know, whoever it might be?
20:19I'm not expecting you to be able to name names necessarily.
20:21But where might they be looking to augment?
20:25I still wonder what they're going to do at outside corner.
20:27I mean, look, they do have flexibility.
20:30You have three outside corners that you could make active on game day
20:32from your active roster, aside from elevations.
20:35Christian Benford, Maxwell Harrison, Davis Enigma, and Oson.
20:38D. Alford can play outside in a pinch.
20:40He's your main nickel.
20:41And I would say this.
20:43What I'm guessing is, guys, that Jordan Hancock is part of the reason why they did this
20:47because they probably feel so good about him and his ascension at nickel
20:51that they have to put D. Alford out there, they'll just go with Jordan Hancock at nickel
20:54and they'll be fine with that.
20:55And that's cool.
20:56I mean, that's how you maximize your roster efficiency.
20:59I totally get that.
21:00But I would think outside corner would be an area they might look at,
21:02maybe a veteran, because they just seem a little bit thin there.
21:05And I'm just still wondering who the punt returner is.
21:08And it's because, to me, I would think that Khalil Shakira might be the best option
21:13for them right now unless they really kind of just look past the mistake
21:18that Ray Davis made and said, hey, he's done enough good things in camp and preseason.
21:22We're going to trust him.
21:23We're going to put him back there.
21:24But if you look at that mistake and say, I don't know if we can do that,
21:27then you've got to go with Khalil Shakira or Keon Coleman,
21:30and we don't know the injury status of either of them.
21:32I just don't know what their plan is going forward there.
21:36But I know that the ideal situation would be to not have to use an extra roster spot on a
21:41guy.
21:42Sounds like they really need Terrence McGee is what they need.
21:44Not that he returned punts, but a corner that can also return punts would be perfect right now.
21:49Yeah, there you go.
21:50Can we make a phone call?
21:51Do you have one of those at the department store?
21:53Who they need.
21:54Does Amazon have those in stock?
21:55Who they need for the 25th year in a row in this context is the old ball coach, Kevin Kelly,
22:00who would tell them in one second and convince them in ten,
22:02Don't bother catching punts.
22:03Stop returning punts.
22:05Don't put anybody back there.
22:07Okay, field position.
22:07Okay, wait.
22:08I had a friend of mine text me this the other day and said,
22:11Can I ask you a stupid question?
22:13I'm like, go ahead.
22:14And he said, why do you need a punt returner?
22:16I said, well, it's a good question.
22:17I don't think it's a stupid question, but here's my answer to that.
22:21And I know Kevin Kelly has never coached in the NFL, but I will tell you,
22:25my thought is NFL punters and gunners are so darn good.
22:29You'd probably be starting at like your five yard line almost every possession.
22:33They're going to put the ball there.
22:35And even if it's not every possession,
22:37you're going to have the worst starting field position in the league.
22:39Now, as my friend pointed out, so would I have Josh Allen, right?
22:42I get it.
22:42Like, it doesn't matter.
22:44But I would tell you, I think that's a little bit of a hill too much to overcome,
22:47I think, as the season goes on.
22:49Fair enough.
22:49I just love that point.
22:51And so I'm happy to bring it up and have the conversation.
22:54Sure.
22:56Hopefully, in that it is the NFL, you can find somebody who can just catch it.
23:00I think that's Shakir.
23:01I mean, he can certainly make people miss and be dangerous.
23:04But I think, mostly, I feel like if they put him back there,
23:07they're kind of like, just catch the ball.
23:09Don't worry about running it back.
23:12Fair catch.
23:13You know, just try to keep it, you know, if it's coming down at the 10,
23:17you know, maybe try to avoid getting it down at the 2 kind of thing.
23:22Yeah, that's probably right.
23:23I mean, even when I asked Joe Brady,
23:26what are you looking for in a punt returner?
23:27Like, a week and a half, two weeks ago, he said, get the ball back.
23:32He said, I know it sounds simple.
23:33Just make sure we get the ball back.
23:34Like, that's the deal.
23:35Don't give it right back to them.
23:37I will source this when I get a chance,
23:39but I just happened to read recently that Marvin Mims of Denver
23:43is like one punt return away from being the all-time record holder
23:46in yards per return.
23:48As long as he doesn't get minus 97 yards on his next return,
23:51he will have that record.
23:53Because that would be, I mean, where are you punting from?
23:55You catch the punt at the other team's three and run all the way back?
23:59I mean, that's not going to happen, obviously.
24:01Not even on Super Tecmo Bowl.
24:03Not even on Tecmo would that happen.
24:05Thank you, Sal.
24:06We'll talk again soon.
24:07You got it, guys.
24:08Thanks.
24:08That is our Sal Capaccio on the West Her Hotline.
24:11His appearances are brought to you by New York's only outlet, Liquor.
24:14When you need to stock up, it's the place to buy a case.
24:16What's your outlet?
24:19You like that little stat?
24:22The Mims thing?
24:23Adam Harstad, Marvin Mims needs at least 97 negative yards on his next punt return
24:29to set the all-time NFL record for career punt return average.
24:33I believe in him.
24:34I think it's going to happen.
24:35Bill's killer, Marvin Mims.
24:37Right?
24:38Too soon?
24:38Oh, well.
24:39I mean, it happened.
24:41Bill's killer.
24:41Yeah.
24:42Oh, yeah.
24:43That's the late go-ahead touchdown.
24:47I think it is.
24:48And did he hit them in the – no, that was Franklin in the playoff game here.
24:52That was Franklin.
24:53That was Troy Franklin.
24:53Mike Schopen, the Bulldog, 803-0550 to join us.
24:56This is WGR.
