Sal Capaccio speaks on the impact that Dawson Knox has made turning back the clock in the passing game for the Bills.
Transcript
00:00One last thing, Sal, before we go.
00:02I'm kind of wondering if, you know, as we've been waiting to say,
00:05you know, someone's going to have to step up in the passing game,
00:08who will it be?
00:09The re-emergence, again, of Dawson Knox.
00:13Like, Dawson Knox was a good pass catcher for the Bills for a while,
00:16and then he kind of took on a lesser role in that department
00:18with the introduction of Dalton Kincaid.
00:21But the last couple games here, all of a sudden,
00:23he's finding his way in the end zone.
00:25He's getting lots of targets.
00:26Against Cincinnati, he had six catches for 93, right?
00:29Like, the target numbers, the last six, seven games,
00:32it's 4-3, 4-4, 7-4.
00:35After several weeks of 1-2 and 0,
00:38like, the re-emergence of Dawson Knox, proud new father.
00:42Congratulations to him.
00:44Like, to me, that is something that the Bills have been leaning on a bit
00:47and can maybe change their passing game a little bit.
00:49Yeah, what a week for Dawson Knox, right?
00:52Him and his wife, Alex, they have their baby daughter
00:55becomes a dad for the first time early in the week.
00:57That's why he missed practice on Wednesday.
01:00Then he comes back to practice,
01:01and suddenly he becomes a big, you know,
01:04part of the offense again on Sunday for the second straight week.
01:07One of the reasons, Jeremy, though,
01:08is he's getting opportunity with snap counts.
01:09They're laying off Dalton Kincaid a little bit here.
01:11And I'm sure part of it is he's dealing with the knee injury.
01:14But if you look at the snap counts this morning,
01:15I tweeted them out, by the way, guys.
01:17Really interesting snap counts when it comes to the tight end today.
01:20Yesterday, Knox 45.
01:24So the Bills had 70 snaps on offense.
01:27Knox 45, Jackson Hawes 31, Dalton Kincaid 25.
01:32They've kind of just said Dalton Kincaid's going to be on the field.
01:35We need to, you know, throw some balls,
01:36and he's got to make catches.
01:38I think they're taking him,
01:39taking a little bit of the risk out for Dalton Kincaid with the knee
01:42to have him on there in more of a physical role.
01:44And then you add in, so Knox and Hawes are on the field,
01:47so Knox is getting opportunity.
01:48And Dawson Knox has always been a nice dual threat tight end.
01:51You know, he's not the elite tight end that you see around the league.
01:54These guys put up big numbers, but he can block.
01:56He can catch.
01:57He has a lot of trust with Josh Allen.
01:59And yeah, that was a really nice game for him.
02:02And I do think it keeps the defense off balance
02:05by knowing that they have a guy like that and with Jackson Hawes.
02:08Jackson Hawes come on the field with Dawson Knox.
02:10You know, Hawes is the blocker,
02:11and then suddenly Knox can leak out,
02:13and you have to, you put DBs in a bind.
02:15You put DBs in a bind.
02:16So yeah, good for Dawson Knox.
