00:00after three amazing months solo traveling around my favorite place on
00:04earth Japan it was time for me to go it was so hard for me to get myself on this
00:09plane and leave but it was necessary I have goals big goals they've got to get
00:18accomplished here we go leaving to China okay let's go to China guys I'm all
00:30packed up I'm heading to Kyoto station we're gonna get on a train to Osaka
00:35Airport and get on our flights I got my suitcase let's go
00:55which is actually quite heavy and I almost missed my train so I was rushing
01:00but we made it I left at 5 30 a.m. just so I could get at the airport bright
01:06and
01:06early for my 10 a.m. flight I like to be at airports nice and early and I just
01:12took in the last of Japan I always get extremely emotional leaving because I
01:17mean this place is just more than home to me but we've got to go chase our dreams
01:24so I got to the airport and like I said I always leave a couple hours ahead and I
01:30wandered around checked into my flight and made sure everything was okay because
01:34China is not the easiest country to fly to we've ever been to China you know it's
01:39just not a cakewalk you've got to have all your papers you got up your visa you
01:42got to have everything ready to go and it was so funny I was the only black
01:46person and the only female on this flight which was so funny everybody else was a
01:51Chinese male but nobody cared everyone's so nice and it doesn't mean
01:55anything to me at all the food on airplanes I don't eat anymore but they
01:59always give it to me and I feel so bad not eating it let me know in the
02:03comments is it rude not to eat the food anyways the flight was about two hours
02:08and 30 minutes a very quick flight between Osaka and Shanghai and as soon as
02:15our plane landed I had this immediate sense of okay this is going to be
02:20difficult the immigration process to China is not that easy oh my gosh you guys oh
02:27oh my gosh after the craziest travel day of my freaking life I am finally in my
02:36gorgeous Shanghai China I don't know how long you guys have been watching my
02:43YouTube channel but if you've been watching me for a minute then you very
02:48much remember this environment spent like five years ago which is crazy I think it
02:56was before kovat was it before after it was before kovat so that was five years
03:02ago guys you saw me in this exact apartment this is where I stay every time I
03:10come to China it is like a living space for expats so anyways expats are people
03:20that come to foreign countries to live so I'm very familiar with this I have so many
03:26friends when I was outside everyone was like they're calling me by my Chinese
03:30name they're like you know my Chinese name which is major anyways I can't
03:36believe I'm here you guys it feels surreal a lot of you guys know that I used to
03:42live in China I started my YouTube channel in China that's how I started my
03:48travel journey in Shanghai so this place is so near and dear to me I used to live here
03:53five years I lived in Shanghai I went to school here my whole life was here so
04:00coming back is extremely nostalgic but let me tell you something about China this
04:05country changes like the wind it changes fast like already I have so much like my
04:16mind doesn't even oh my mind is in a million different directions because I'm
04:20so much to tell you guys by the way my nail broke when I was in the taxi but
04:24they're press on nail so I have I'm going to redo it so ignore the nail
04:30China changes so much okay basically this is a QR code country everything is done on a
04:36QR code so when you arrive I'll make a more in-depth video about this later but
04:42basically they register you a QR code if you are a Chinese visa holder that QR code has
04:50your phone number it has your money it has if you want to order food you're
04:55ordering it on that app it's like everything in one so you pay for
04:59everything you using this QR code you get into the countries it's like your
05:02identification QR code so I had to just kind of do that at the airport but it
05:09wasn't long for me because I am a Chinese visa holder and I have a very high
05:14visa there's visas ranked in China so I have a high ranking they really it was
05:21really simple for me the warmness is remembered everyone says Japanese people
05:30are the nicest people and I would say yes they are but they're polite I would say
05:38Chinese people aren't polite they're sweet does that make sense like a Chinese
05:42person will have a deep conversation with you my taxi driver was so sweet such a
05:50sweetie bear we talked and talked and talked he told me he was from where was
05:56he from he's not from Shanghai and I told him I lived here like 10 years ago he was
06:04like you know Shanghai better than me then because he just moved here sweetest pie
06:08sweet everyone's sweetest pie I said my hair looked a mess because it does look a
06:14mess like I was sweating so much because oh my gosh you guys like oh I have so much
06:20to tell you oh I was sweating so much so like when I got here my suitcase was too
06:25heavy and they were like you're gonna have to pay an extra $450 for your suitcase and
06:32I'm like there's no way there's no way they're like so either throw stuff away
06:40or you're gonna have to pay $450 I literally you guys I was crying at the airport that's
06:46why I didn't film that much at the airport I was throwing away books I'll still cry right
06:51now I'm still emotionally raw I threw away like 10 books at the airport I still want to cry
07:03but my suitcase was way way too heavy and it was my books you know I saw so hard for
07:11me to part ways
07:13I don't know like I'm a solo traveler and like I don't know like I get very connected to like
07:19my books
07:20like they feel like a part of me I was crying I was bawling my eyes out but I didn't
07:27want to pay $500
07:30just to keep my books with me so anyways everything's okay books are replaceable
07:35I'm also tired so I'm acting you know very emotional oh my gosh and then the flight you guys was
07:44crazy
07:45um I was very very snug in between two guys but they're very sweet um
07:54anyways I'm just glad to be settled in oh my gosh you think after all these years of traveling that
08:01it would be like a cakewalk for me now and it's still rough it's still really rough on me sometimes
08:09like moving from one country to another all by myself is still really rough on me I wish I just
08:15had um I don't know Baymax following me around helping me but that's okay anyways you guys this
08:25is not a sad story this is not a pity story I am very happy that is the consensus um
08:32if you can make
08:33it through hard times there's a great reward on the other end I would go through all that and I
08:39still go through all of it to get to these gorgeous countries um because they're the prize at the end
08:45um so anyways I'm here in China I felt like I just as soon as I came in here I
08:51literally just laid
08:52down on the couch and just stared like my nervous system is just like oh there's so much I have
09:00to do
09:00there's so not have to do there's so much I want to do oh there's so much content I want
09:06to show you
09:06guys the city has changed so much I'm so excited to be here I have so much to show you

09:13just gets better and better so I have so much content planned oh and I also want to tell you
09:19why
09:19I'm here so I was going to go to the Middle East and obviously that's not happening anymore I was

09:24close to getting on my flight to Dubai and I said let's not do that I was going to go
09:28to Dubai
09:29because Dubai is where my layover was to get to Africa unfortunately you cannot fly direct from
09:38Asia to Africa you have to be laid over in the Middle East and there's nowhere for me to be
09:45to
09:45lay over um so I'm going to wait in China for about a week or two and hopefully Dubai or
09:52Doha Qatar
09:53is safe enough to fly into for me to lay over and head to Africa but that's why I said
10:01last minute
10:02I was like let me not just do that and end up stranded so um yeah I was going to
10:08be in Dubai right
10:09now on a layover and I didn't want to risk it talking to you guys right now because I know
10:15how crazy
10:15I look I feel gross my hair is a mess that the flight tore me up I was sweating bullets
10:27and you
10:27curly girls know sweating is a no no when you have your hair straight my hair straight and I've been
10:34trying to keep it straight for at least a week um I don't know maybe I'll just revert back to
10:42my curls
10:43but my hair was straight and I feel like I sweated all out because I was sweating running through
10:49that airport like a mad woman trying to get everything sorted oh my gosh trying to anyways
10:57this is a good story this is good story so I'm hungry I haven't eaten anything I had beef jerky
11:04one thing I miss about China is how good the beef jerky is so I went to the convenience store
11:10because I was trying to test if my QR code was working so like I told you guys you get
11:15like a
11:15QR code um mine is on jifu ball jifu ball is the app you'd need if you come to China
11:22everything is on
11:23there taxi app is on there instructions you can book hotels on there um jifu ball get jifu ball
11:31places to eat around here so I'm trying to think like do I just go get food right now do

11:35shower I'm trying to think and tonight I might go see if I can see some of my friends we'll

12:11rotating sushi oh no it's not rotating sushi it's like rotating salad it's like rotating hot pot
12:18oh that looks nice I'm tired and hungry because I haven't eaten in
12:42a minute so I went and just got some noodles um these are just some of the most basic
12:51noodles you can find in Shanghai you can find them anywhere they're $1.50
12:55and they absolutely hit the spot when I used to go to school here every day I hit
13:04a noodle spot soup noodles they have all different types they had fried with oil
13:10you know they had everything but I just wanted some literally some Shanghai style soup
13:21noodles they put cilantro chives um they put ginger in here it's so delicious it just tastes like
13:29a warm hug which is what I need oh my gosh I'm back home I'm back home I'm back home
13:50you know when that guy in Ratatouille had uh the the
13:57he had Ratatouille
14:01and it took him back

14:08let me tell you something about Chinese food
14:12it is nothing like what you get in the U.S. that stuff is gross
14:17that is American Chinese food
14:20there's nothing like Chinese food in China

14:26you can't get it anywhere else I'm telling you you cannot get this
14:31it's just the love it's just the Chinese
