00:00Ed, let me throw it to you. Do you feel like this is the biggest move in Ravens history?
00:05No. I mean, because you've got to think about it.
00:07It's not the same, but let me rephrase it.
00:10Maybe. If it's a straight-up trade, I think the best straight-up trade before this was Anquan Bolden
00:15because we got him for a third and a fourth.
00:16And that was a straight-up trade. He helped them, you know, Super Bowl victory.
00:21He was instrumental that year.
00:23This is bigger than that now. I think we just gave up more.
00:27However, the biggest move in Ravens history would have to be Ray Lewis.
00:31And that was a trade to move in the draft. It wasn't quite the same.
00:35I got you.
00:35But it was the Browns moving, you know, allowing them to actually move and get Ray Lewis with the 26th
00:41pick in 96.
00:42So that would be the biggest move in Ravens history.
00:44But this is, I think, the biggest straight-up trade, yes.
00:46Yeah, I think there's times where you can look at it, and look, I'm not trying to be the gotcha
00:50guy,
00:51but, like, you could even point at drafting John Ogden over, what was it, Lawrence Field, the running back out
00:56of Nebraska,
00:57who was just, like, everybody's like, oh, you've got to draft him. He's so good.
01:00And, like, no, I'm going to take this, quote-unquote, boring pick, and he's just going to be the best
01:04left tackle you've ever seen.
01:05Yeah, and there's been, I just was making a list of the biggest trades I could think of in Ravens
01:09history.
01:10Roquan was one. Marcus Peters for young, Kenny Young, was a big one because we didn't want Kenny Young.
01:16And Marcus Peters, premier defensive back, Steve McNair, you know, pre-Flaco, pre-Lamar, was the best quarterback we had
01:23before those guys.
01:25And what did we do, in 13 games that year when he came?
01:28Yeah.
01:28That's right.
01:29So, you know, those are the ones, I mean, I think would be the biggest trades, but this overshadows them.
01:35Steve, any thoughts? Because this is a big move.
01:37This is the first time they've given up two first-round picks to go acquire a player, especially a vet.
01:42We've seen teams do this for quarterbacks, and we've seen them do it for pass rushers.
01:46But I think this is an absolute difference maker.
01:49And again, I do, I've said this, and I'll keep saying it, I think it was an overpay, but I
01:52don't think there's anything wrong with it if you think that guy changes everything for you.
01:55Well, again, we've all said this a couple times today, I think, one way to look at it is, if
02:01you could get a Max Crosby with the 14th pick in the draft, that'd be an unbelievable draft pick.
02:06So they gave up the 14th pick and one more.
02:08So I don't think it'll come back to bite them, because this is a move that not only makes their
02:15weak pass rush better, but as we've been saying all along, it's impacting other players.
02:21This guy, as John Harbaugh said, is a game wrecker, a game changer.
02:25He's the guy you've got a game plan all week for now.
02:27They're going to need three guys to block him, and that's going to allow other players to make plays who
02:32don't have three guys blocking him.
02:34And if he doesn't get a sack, he's going to get a pressure that's going to lead to an incompletion
02:38or an interception.
02:40So he's just going to, oh, no, by the way, one of the best run stoppers out there, too, in
02:44addition to the pass rush.
02:46So, and a leader.
02:47Other than that, he's not too much.
02:49Yeah, other than that, I don't agree with the trade.
02:52Look, you have to like this.
02:53And again, the other thing, and it's like the, as I always joke about Tommy Boy, it's like the meat
02:57lovers in the trunk.
02:58But making this move, you know they have the deal done with Lamar.
03:01Like there's no other way they're making this move with all the, like filling a couple offensive lineman spots.
03:08You can't have Lamar at 70-some million this year on the cap.
03:12And the coolest thing about this is that if that's done, they can get that down to about 38 million.
03:17And there's a way to work Max Crosby's contract to get it down to seven, which could help you get
03:22Linderbaum or go in a different direction
03:24and maybe fill a couple other holes through free agency, something that the Ravens typically haven't done, Ed.
03:28Yeah, I mean, so are we in agreement?
03:31I mean, I think this is the biggest trade, straight-up trade in Ravens history.
03:34I do.
03:35Yeah.
03:35Yeah, me too.
03:36I think it's the biggest just because of what they gave up and they had never done that.
03:39And that's, to me, that's them showing the willingness to do something I didn't think they'd be willing to do
03:45because of the value of draft picks.
03:46And like Takasa just said it the other week, we're not usually involved in free agency because we draft so
03:51well.
03:51So that's why those picks are so valuable.
03:53Yeah.
03:54And I just think we would be taking calls today if they had let another team trade two first-rounders
03:59for Max Crosby.
04:00The calls would all be saying, why didn't the Ravens do that?
04:04100%.
04:04Yep.
04:05Let's grab Chris in Parkville real quick.
04:06Chris, you're on the fan.
04:08Hey, thanks for taking our call.
04:10So I guess with this one, I was looking at the movie Draft Day back in the days of 2014
04:17when Kevin Costa gave up three first-round picks and then tried to get them all back.
04:23Well, he did get them all back.
04:24And that's when I was like, man, I can't believe Eric DaCosta gave up that much to get them.
04:29But I like the signing.
04:31I think the other best move that the Ravens did was that Fax mess up, that Fax gate when they
04:37got Elvis Dumerville.
04:38Yeah.
04:38That's a good one.
04:41So, Chris, I appreciate the call, but I just want you to know that Kevin Costa was not actually the
04:46GM of Cleveland.
04:47And by the way, trading all your first, trading three picks and then getting them back because you duped another
04:52GM, that doesn't typically happen.
04:54I don't know the last time a guy wasn't drafted because nobody went to his birthday party.
04:58But anyway, we got to get to you.
05:00Tell us about our sponsor for the 8 o'clock hour.
05:02Yeah, Steve, this is important.
05:04Our sponsor for the 8 o'clock hour is Lion's Den.
05:06So, you know, we talk a lot about, you know, balls in the show.
05:09They had a lot more than balls at Lion's Den.
05:12So if you want to improve your personal life, your love life, check out Lion's Den.
05:16They've got everything.
05:17Adult toys, lingerie, books, games.
05:20They have plenty of lube, different kinds, you know.
05:23Yes, they have all that stuff.
05:24So if you want to get there, I'll tell you where you can go.
05:26You go online at lionsden.com or Cockeysville, Catonsville, Severin, Pasadena.
05:31I'm sure there's one near you.
05:33Get in there.
05:34Take Jeremy.
05:34He's a lot of fun to go with.
05:36I've done it with him.
05:37Yeah.
05:37I went to the Lion's Den with him and I kept saying, my dad's looking for a dildo or what.
05:41I don't remember what I was saying to those ladies.
05:43You said exactly that.
05:44And I was like, hey, if I buy this six-pack of penis lollipops, will you eat three of them?
05:49It is funny.
05:50Ed's been at Lion's Den so much that you guys, when you get to Florida, you should check out Ed's
05:54Den.
05:57It's a lot of chest in there, whips and chains and any all.
06:00Anyway.
06:01The Fifty Shades of Grey guy was such a hammered egg.
06:03This show took a mild turn to the left or right.
06:07I don't know where.
06:08Steve, what we need you to do.
06:10The day you want to go check it out, I might be sick that day.
06:12But let me, that sounds like it's so well-placed, of course.
06:14Steve, Ed was going to give you a homework assignment to swing by the Lions in and tell us your
06:18favorite thing that you picked up.
06:20I get you a discount.
06:22Okay, okay.
06:23Now we're talking.
06:24Ed, hey, man, it's always great to talk to you.
06:27Appreciate you.
06:27We'll talk to you tomorrow.
06:29All right, I'll talk to you later.
06:30Ed, see you soon.
06:31I hope I get to Florida soon to say hello in person.
06:33I want to have a beer with you down here.
06:35I hope so.
06:36Sounds good.
