00:00Breaking news in the NFL, and as it was breaking on TV, I'm like, I hope they're still not
00:06treating this Max Crosby thing like breaking news like they have all morning.
00:09This happened last night, and if you missed it, the breaking news is tied to the Max Crosby
00:14story.
00:14The Max Crosby story, real quick, the trade to the Ravens for two first-round picks from
00:19the Raiders to the Ravens, the Ravens reportedly backed out of that trade when they flunked
00:25Max Crosby on his physical.
00:27So that trade is not happening.
00:30Instead, the Ravens, this is the breaking news, have shifted to Trey Hendrickson, and
00:36they agree on a four-year, $112 million deal with Trey Hendrickson.
00:44So just short of $30 million, that's $28 million a year.
00:48The deal is worth up to $30 million per season.
00:51So the Ravens, and Seth, man, I don't know, the Ravens maybe seeing that Trey Hendrickson
00:59was still sitting out there two days into free agency.
01:01He was at the top of every free agent list this free agency season.
01:07Trey Hendrickson was the number one guy.
01:09Guys like him don't normally hit free agency, but he was on the Bengals.
01:12So take that for what it's worth.
01:15When they saw him still sitting out there, man, I think there's reason to believe, if
01:20you're a Raiders fan, you're probably pretty pissed off about it.
01:23That's what, yeah.
01:24We haven't delved into this.
01:25They used the physical.
01:27They used, I think there's a distinct possibility that they use Max Crosby's knee injury as
01:32a reason to go, you know what's better than giving up two firsts for Max Crosby?
01:36Giving up no firsts for Trey Hendrickson for less money.
01:39No, it's impossible not to wonder whether the Ravens simply just bailed on the deal knowing
01:47they had a reasonable excuse.
01:49They can fail a guy on a physical who's coming off of this repaired meniscus and whatever they
01:54found to justify it or be nervous about it.
01:56Maybe they had buyer's remorse too.
01:59I mean, there's so much about this trade for Max Crosby.
02:01There was a surprise simply because it was the Ravens doing it.
02:05It was the first time.
02:06They build through the draft.
02:07They're not aggressive in free agency.
02:10All these things.
02:11They never traded a first round pick before the Ravens.
02:14Like they, this is the first time they'd ever done a deal like this.
02:18I think it's a great point is that this is out of character for them.
02:21And they, you know, it's, it's almost like, you know, like you, you know, you, you get
02:25into a relationship with somebody and whatever.
02:27And you're like, God, I've never, I, I don't usually get with people like this.
02:31You know what?
02:32It's somebody that like, uh, like, yeah, I think, um, I think I'm cool with an open
02:36relationship.
02:37Yeah.
02:37I'm a modern person and everything.
02:39And you get into it and you're like, Oh, I've got a stomach ache all the time.
02:43Yup.
02:44I had a crippling jealousy.
02:45Yeah.
02:46Yeah.
02:46Sounds like a very specific story.
02:49I've gone through the mental exercise before.
02:51Like, Nope, I'm not built for it.
02:52It's not me.
02:53I would not be able to, uh, I would have an extreme double standard in this.
02:57How would you, how would you, how would you feel if you were a Raiders fan right now?
03:04Uh, jilted?
03:04Like, would you like, are they, I would be, I would be angry at the, I'd be, you know
03:09what?
03:09They're not getting too first for him.
03:10I don't think now you could be angry at the Ravens.
03:13Ultimately, especially if you're a Raiders fan, you got to point the finger right back
03:17at spy tech and Tom Brady, um, the GM and whatever the hell Tom Brady is that I, how
03:25do you look at the end of the day, you guys executed this deal and the deal didn't go
03:29through and what the hell, man.
03:32And now we're stuck now.
03:33Who knows?
03:34It might end up working out great for the Raiders.
03:36Maybe they end up getting, I don't see them getting an even better package or not.
03:42I know that.
03:43I don't think Max Crosby is coming back no matter what, even if they figured out a way
03:46to try to finagle it all, just, it sounds like those, though, it felt a little bit
03:51like JJ Watt with the Texans when Easterby was in charge that it was just, man, this is
03:57just it.
03:58Like Max Crosby, it didn't seem was very happy with the direction and the way things
04:03were operating in a lot of ways.
04:04Um, the team wanted to move on from Max Crosby.
04:07So the, what can they get for Max Crosby?
04:10It's fun.
04:11It's fun to be a Texans fan and watching this.
04:13Cause I have zero dog in the fight.
04:15I, there's no, there's just, you know, there's no, there's zero reason the Texans would ever
04:19be involved in a Max Crosby trade in this scenario.
04:22I guess the only thing I'm thinking with respect to the Texans is a little like when, um, when
04:27it looked like Alec Pierce might go to the bills and you're like, well, he'd be out of
04:31the division, but boy, the bills are a team.
04:34The Texans are going to have to get through to get to a super bowl.
04:36I feel sick, even though they didn't make the playoffs last year, I feel similar about
04:39the Ravens.
04:40Yeah.
04:40And I, so I'm asking myself, do I feel like the rate I look, I think the, I would have
04:46rather the Ravens trade two first round picks for Max Crosby, a more expensive Max Crosby
04:52than just get Trey Hendrickson in free age.
04:54I think Crosby is a better player than Hendrickson, but them not having to give up.
04:58I don't think he's, I don't think Crosby so much better that the two first round picks
05:03don't matter here.
05:04The Ravens getting their picks back, especially because they're good at drafting is a problem
05:08for the rest of the AFC.
05:09Yeah.
05:10If I were the rest of the AFC, I would have rather they stuck with the Crosby deal than
05:15done what they did this morning.
05:17Titans, um, Titans wouldn't, they're not giving up that draft pick.
05:21Uh, but I wonder if the Titans might be in play on something like that.
05:24On Max Crosby.
05:25Yeah.
05:25There's no way they give up the fourth overall pick for him.
05:27I don't think they could give up, you know, a future first year, second or something.
05:31Yeah.
05:31There's second, there's still at the top of the second round, right?
05:33They aren't traded that away.
05:35They haven't traded that away.
05:36So, um, they could, they could put together a juicy package.
05:38They could, they could.
05:39Um, so, uh, so now Tom Brady's got work to do.
05:42And meanwhile, Tom Brady shifting gears momentarily here.
05:46Um, Tom Brady puts out a newsletter, I guess.
05:49And the newsletter, it has the number one 99 at the top of it, which I believe I'm, that
05:54was where he was drafted, where he was picked over one overall or the number one 99.
05:58Yeah.
05:58Overall pick.
05:59So he's always got that chip on his shoulder.
06:01It was evidently funny.
06:03Um, so he puts out a newsletter and yesterday's newsletter, um, sent to his subscribers, um,
06:10paid a eulogy and eulogized, um, deceased Fox broadcaster, Tim McCarver, which is, you
06:17know, which if Tim McCarver had passed away this week is a really, it's a nice gesture either
06:22way.
06:23Right.
06:23Especially a guy that, you know, is a, one of his predecessors.
06:26Right, right, right.
06:27At Fox.
06:28Yeah.
06:28Like somebody who Tom Brady cited as an example.
06:31Um, most of you, you know, who follow that know that you're like, oh yeah, Tim McCarver,
06:34he's been passed away for a while now.
06:36Yeah.
06:36He passed away.
06:37That over three years ago.
06:38A few years ago.
06:39Yeah.
06:39Three years.
06:40Over three years ago.
06:40Yeah.
06:41Yeah.
06:41So, um, so Tom Brady in his newsletter said this, the great Tim McCarver passed away last
06:47week, Tim had my job for Fox lead analyst from 96 to 2013.
06:53But on the baseball side, Tim called more than 20 world series in his career.
06:57He was fantastic at his job, insightful, analytical, passionate, and immensely likable.
07:03As I prepare for my second off season self-scout as a broadcaster, I've been thinking a lot
07:09this past week about the more intangible qualities of greatness and leadership.
07:14One of them, which I call likability, like he invented the term or something, came, came
07:20right.
07:20I call likability came right back to the front of my mind, came right back to the front of
07:27my mind with Tim McCarver's passing twice.
07:30He talks about him.
07:31Yes.
07:31Oh man.
07:32So I figured I'd explore it in a little more depth here.
07:35In particular, understanding that by endearing yourself to people and drawing them to you
07:40in a way that makes them more amenable.
07:41And then the screen grab tails off.
07:45Yeah.
07:46Which, uh, Tim McCarver's passing this past week, Seth, that made Tom Brady self-scout
07:52his own likability and a term that he calls likability.
07:55He calls it likability.
07:57I don't know if any of you guys, you know, a lot of people call it like a tippitude, but
08:01I actually prefer the term likability, something I coined to myself.
08:06Unbelievable.
08:06Get over yourself.
08:08What the hell?
08:09Um, all right.
08:11Nice gesture by him.
08:12The fact that Tim McCarver was at the network.
08:15Three years.
08:16The network at which Tom Brady is currently working makes it that much funnier that he's,
08:21he thinks that Tim McCarver just passed away last week.
08:24Like, like, as if wherever he thought, wherever it came to him that he thought that Tim McCarver
08:30just died this week.
08:32Yeah.
08:32It wasn't from somebody at Fox.
08:34No.
08:34You might think that if Tim McCarver died last week, somebody at Fox might've said something
08:38to him directly about it.
08:40Like, Hey Tom, you know, Tim McCarver passed away last week, but this is a hundred percent.
08:44I know.
08:45I'm 99% sure that what happened is this Brady's probably using chat GPT or AI to, to, to help
08:53come up with topics or something.
08:55Yeah.
08:55And as we know, AI is really good at some things and really awful at others.
09:01And in sports, it's really, really bad with timelines.
09:04It's horrible.
09:04It gets dates wrong all the time.
09:07It gets some of the stats wrong.
09:09All like, you have to really fact check it when you use it for sports stuff, dude, yesterday
09:14I used it.
09:15I wrote an article for the Houston press about JJ Watt going into the Houston sports hall
09:19of fame.
09:19Yeah.
09:19And I asked chat GPT, can you give me all of the inductees by year for the Houston sports
09:24hall of fame?
09:25And it was so wrong.
09:27It was, it was, they had, they had people in the Houston sports hall of fame that already,
09:31I don't know where it was pulling it from.
09:33It was crazy.
09:34It's frustrating.
09:34Some of the articles I read now on some formerly legitimate websites, you can tell like,
09:38Oh, okay.
09:39This is just, it, it took the Titans stats.
09:42If I'm trying to preview a Titans versus Texans game, I'm looking at it.
09:46I'm like, no, I know those are the Texans stats.
09:48And you're saying, this is what the Titans have done and everything.
09:50It's, it's bad.
09:51So you think AI got Tom Brady?
09:53I think it's something with something like this.
09:54You know, they always ask you a question after each answer.
09:57It gives you, it asks a question, a followup.
09:59It was something like, since you are currently working as a television color commentator, would
10:04you like me to write a tribute to Tim McCarver who passed away last week?
10:07And Brady's like, yeah.
10:08That's exactly what happened.
10:10Could you tie it into some kind of leadership trait?
10:13Oh yes.
10:14And then Tom, that's the tell.
10:16Cause Tom Brady's like, he's reading this.
10:17He's like, I don't want people to, I don't want people to know that I just lifted this
10:22off of AI.
10:22Right.
10:23So I'm going to tweak it and say that I call this trait likability.
10:26Okay.
10:26So you think he did that.
10:28You don't think AI suggested that he coined the term likability?
10:32No, I think he just, I think he tweaks.
10:34He probably uses AI to help him write it.
10:36And then you tweak it yourself and everything.
10:38Yeah.
10:38And that's how he came up with a trait.
10:41I call likability through a, he, he issued an apology to his subscribers later in the
10:46day yesterday through a proofreading mistake.
10:49I mentioned in this morning's email that Tim McCarver passed away last week.
10:54Okay.
10:54A proofreading mistake.
10:55That's not a proofreading.
10:57Being off by three years is not a proofreading.
10:59Okay.
11:00All right.
11:00You know what?
11:00In that case, I think AI did the whole deal.
11:02I think, I think AI, I think he had some instruction for like, how is that a proofreading
11:07mistake?
11:08Right.
11:08Right.
11:09Like with the news that he passed away, you wouldn't be saying if you wrote, if you sit
11:13down and you knew that Tim McCarver had died three years ago, there's no way you sit
11:18down and write.
11:19Yeah.
11:19What did he say?
11:20I learned of his death or, uh, here's here.
11:22I'll read it.
11:23It's quick through a proofreading mistake.
11:25I mentioned in this morning's email that Tim McCarver passed away last week.
11:29McCarver actually passed away on February 16th, 2023 at the age of 81.
11:35I apologize for the error in any confusion.
11:38It may have caused Tim's legacy as a blah, blah, blah.
11:41So yeah.
11:42No.
11:42What did he say in the original one?
11:44Oh, I'm sorry.
11:45The opening line.
11:46Yeah.
11:46Let me click on that here.
11:47The opening line.
11:48The great Tim McCarver passed away last week.
11:51Right.
11:51Yeah.
11:51No, no, no.
11:52That's not a proofreading mistake.
11:53You had AI write an article for you.
11:55Your proofreading mistake was not in even reading the AI essay that you wrote.
12:00And you definitely, your, one of your proofreading mistakes was you actually coining the term
12:06likeability.
12:07Right.
12:08Come on, Tom.
12:09You're better than this.
12:09I've been, I've been thinking a lot this past week about the more intangible qualities of
12:14greatness and leadership.
12:16One of them, which I call likability.
12:18Yeah.
12:19That's the worst part.
12:20The worst part of the worst part of this, of this trash email that Brady's sending to
12:25his subscribers is not the fact that he was off by three years on Tim McCarver's death.
12:30It said he's acting like he coined the phrase or coined the term likability.
12:34Like let's say I put it into the category of likability or something.
12:37I didn't, this makes him less likable, ironically enough, much less likable.
12:43Yeah.
12:44Yeah.
12:44I saw something, I read an article about leadership traits a couple of weeks ago and I liked the
12:49way they framed it.
12:50It's the two traits, the two most important traits.
12:53And you kind of, this person didn't try to claim that they invented the word competence
12:58or warmth, but he used those words to describe, okay, these are the two big things.
13:03Like competence is a big, people got to trust that you know what you're talking about, but
13:07then warmth is the likability side of things and all of that.
13:11That's good.
13:11Those two things working together tend to create good leaders.
13:14See, I like that as opposed to Brady coining the term likability in his newsletter to his
13:20subscribers.
13:21You know, when I, um, when I found out that Richard Nixon died two days ago, it, uh, had
13:26me thinking a lot about something that I like to call adversity, uh, and working your way
13:32through it.
13:34You know, when Richard Nixon, before, before he died, he was removed from office, uh, to
13:39avoid, uh, uh, something that I like to call impeachment.
13:43Yeah.
13:44Yes.
13:45Seth, you'll need to proofread whatever it is you're reading there because Nixon died
13:49several decades ago.
13:51Um, do you really think Brady writes that news that Abraham Lincoln was shot in a theater?
13:56I'd like to talk about the importance of, uh, the, the performing arts in the schools.
14:03Cause they're losing fundings.
14:04Okay.
14:04Someone is saying that the, the, he thinks there's a texter that says that Brady's just
14:09got an intern that writes this stuff for him too.
14:12Interns, the old way to do it.
14:14Nobody's paying, nobody's not paying money for interns these days.
14:18Artificial intern.
14:19That's what AI stands for.
14:21Why not pay an intern when I can not pay AI instead?
14:25Like-a-tivitude is my new favorite word.
14:27Somebody texted into the base power.
14:30Something I like to call likability.
14:32Like-a-tivitude.
14:32Coming up next in a sport I like to call football.
14:37Uh, do you really think Brady writes that himself?
14:41No, we don't.
14:42That's what we've been saying.
14:43No, no, no.
14:44Yeah.
14:44God, no.
14:45Yep.
14:45Uh, if anything, he edits himself, but he didn't even edit in this situation.
14:49I wonder how Brady's feeling about this whole Trey Hendrickson.
14:52I feel like that reply was AI.
14:54Yeah.
14:54We spent the whole segment talking about how we don't think he actually wrote it.
14:57Right.
14:57But then the bot, the bot says, do you think that was a prompt from a bot or from, uh,
15:02from AI or something like, Hey, Hey, chat GPT, Sean and Seth are talking about Tom Brady's
15:07weird essay in which he coins the term likability.
15:09What should I text in?
15:11Do you really think Brady writes that himself?
15:13No way.
15:14It says, it says no way.
15:15There are a lot, man.
15:16I'll tell you what the worst is on the big accounts these days, like Rappaport and Schefter.
15:21Yeah.
15:21Have you gone down through the replies?
15:24Uh, sometimes.
15:25Yeah.
15:25I mean, the replies, I would say two thirds of them are bots.
15:29It's annoying as hell.
15:31Brutal.
15:31Because it'll be stuff like, oh, the Texans sign an offensive lineman.
15:35And then all these replies of offensive line is a critical position in American football.
15:41Oh yeah.
15:42And it's, uh, the, to build through the offensive line is an important note.
15:46Yeah.
15:46It's, it's bad.
