00:01The dissolution, what is it, dissolvement of the Ravens-Max Crosby trade, which broke
00:08about 8 o'clock last night, 8.30.
00:10It was during the Terpski.
00:11Yeah, right after.
00:13I was on the treadmill.
00:15Matter of fact, when Hatchwack got your text, I was like, I heard about Ricard, etc., etc.
00:20But either way, trade's done.
00:22And the Ravens wanted to make it work.
00:25The old cheap trick song, I want you to want me.
00:30And I guess the Raiders still wanted those two first-round draft picks.
00:35And it was crazy.
00:37And Trey Hendrickson, we'll get to that, because that maybe absolves the Ravens of whatever blame
00:43they were about to get, which was going to be a lot.
00:46But in the course of five days, the Ravens went from getting Max Crosby, taking a bold
00:53swing, two first-round draft picks, and I was on board, you were on board, Nolan was
00:59on board.
00:59We were all on board with him.
01:01Turned out to be the SS Minnow, Gilligan's Island ship.
01:06They were on a deserted island for months and months and months.
01:10They lost all these free agents.
01:12And Ricard, Patrick Ricard, leaves to go to the Giants right before the Trey Hendrick, or
01:19excuse me, the Max Crosby news broke.
01:23So we have all of these things that are happening, but hey, we still have Crosby.
01:28Yeah.
01:28It's all good.
01:30And then that came out.
01:32And then it was like, well, what the hell?
01:34Failed his physical.
01:37Agent saying things that he's convalescing well.
01:40Well, Elitrache, the surgeon, by way of Adam Schefter, he was on crutches last week and had
01:52the meniscus surgery two months ago.
01:56I'm assuming that the Ravens knew all of this.
02:02So my question is, and we'll get to the good news, that what did you expect in the physical
02:12if you knew that he was literally on crutches a week ago?
02:17Well, here's kind of how it would be done.
02:22Because the Ravens, they did their due diligence.
02:27I'm guessing they had to get permission from the Raiders to talk to the doctor and everything.
02:34So they talked to the doctor, got the MRI, got the x-rays, got all that stuff, had it
02:39sent so they could look at it.
02:41All right.
02:42But it's nothing, you know, so you get a chance to look at the pictures, but you hadn't put
02:47your hands on the player yet, saw the player, done all that.
02:50And give your own MRIs, because those MRIs are from who knows when, you know, and you're
02:58doing updated ones right now.
03:00And what happens is, and Eric or none of the coaches, nobody's involved, but Crosby and
03:08the Ravens doctors, and they send them over to MRI, and then the Ravens doctors are looking
03:14at the MRI.
03:14Then they write a report, and they come up to Eric's office, and maybe Bishotti was there
03:21too, and then they give them their evaluation.
03:23They put a number on it.
03:24And we would all, I'm not sure what the Ravens numbers are, but ours were one to five, and
03:29five was a fail.
03:32And three minus was basically, you know, a pass.
03:36And we had a similar situation, Bob, with Malcolm Kelly, wide receiver out of Oklahoma, who
03:41our trainers gave a four, because of knee, same type of thing, you know, meniscus deal.
03:48And we went and worked him out.
03:50Our trainer, Bubba Tyre, we went to Oklahoma.
03:52He talked to the trainers, talked to Malcolm, did everything.
03:57And what came out of that was, okay, you can draft him, but he's going to be in the training
04:04room a lot, not going to be able to practice all the time, you know, and he may miss some
04:08time, you know, so do you still want to draft him, you know, so I'm guessing that Ravens
04:15doctors come back, and they would have, on this type of deal, Bob, they would have five
04:20as flunked a physical.
04:21So they would have a five for a grade slash, and the slash is, when he's healthy, he would
04:28be a, and I'm guessing it was a four, you know, and it's like, okay, here's the thing,
04:35is, he's not going to be able to practice all the time, you know, he's going to have
04:39some time, miss practice.
04:41You maybe have him for two years, and then who knows, you know, so then, you know, you
04:48get that meeting, and they had just given the MRI, and then you're saying to yourself,
04:53okay, Trey Hendrickson, and they had been, you know, is still sitting out there, and his
04:58numbers coming down, because he hadn't gone yet.
05:00And what would have been interesting, Bob, is if Hendrickson was gone, if he'd have went
05:05the first day, would he have, you know, so back to the story, so then they're sitting
05:12around and saying, it's a lot to give up, you know, two first round picks, and all this
05:19money, when we can get Hendrickson at the same end, keep our draft picks, you know, so when
05:24you look at it that way, you know, so, you know, Ian Rappaport, you know, said that, you
05:30know, there's a lot of blame, there's no blame, they're just doing their due diligence,
05:33and, you know, you couldn't finish what you had to do until the physical, you know, which
05:38they did yesterday, so I don't, do I blame the Ravens?
05:42No, they're just doing what they're supposed to do, and then they've got to make a decision.
05:49The Ravens had to make a decision on, okay, we got to live with him not practicing every
05:55day, or maybe for the first year, he can practice, but then, you know, because I heard
05:59Pete Carroll, Bob, say that he only practiced on Fridays the last nine weeks, and then he
06:04went on IR after that, so what percentage of a guy are you really getting, and how long
06:10are you getting him for?
06:12That's what you got to look at, so to me, when I look at this whole picture now, and the
06:20Ravens have Hendrickson, and their two picks back, I think it's a win.

06:26Because 12 hours ago, it seemed like a colossal, oh my god, what the hell are you doing?
06:33You're a hard player, I have to cost to get rid of, I mean, what are they, didn't they
06:37figure out what the situation was with him health-wise, but the Ravens did try to renegotiate
06:42the deal, where a first-round draft pick apparently was still going to be involved, wanting to be
06:46two number ones, but Raiders said no, so the Ravens pivot to Trey Hendrickson, four-year
06:53deal, $112 million, this is according to Adam Schefter, $112 million, 60 mil, fully
06:59guaranteed $20 million signing bonus, assuming it passes his fiscal, because he missed a lot
07:06of time, too.
07:07Yeah, and Bob, you know, I think, like, the tone of the phone calls and our tone would
07:15have been totally different if they had, if we came in and it was...

07:21If there was no Hendrickson, yeah, then it'd be like, what, lost nine free agents, got no
07:27pass rusher now, you know, I mean, what the hell are you going to, and at 14 you're going
07:31to take a pass rusher, but he's not going to be Max Crosby.
07:34But Hendrickson coming in, plus your two first-round draft picks, and let me stress again, we were
07:41all in on the Max Crosby trade, but as we revisit it now, damaged goods, according to
07:50the Ravens, and apparently teams are calling about Max Crosby, Dallas will not be one of
07:55them, because their team doctor was one of the advisors to the Ravens, in regards to
08:01shooting down the deal, because Dallas offered a one and a two, and the Raiders turned it
08:06down, now Dallas apparently will not re-engage in negotiations there, but teams are still
08:12interested in Max Crosby, but it's now a moot point from our perspective, unless he goes to
08:17like Cincinnati, or Cleveland, or Pittsburgh, or something like that.
08:21But now Trey Hendrickson comes in, older player, was injury plagued last year, his season was
08:30riddled with contract drama, it was just right out of the gate, that year was doomed for
08:37him, and for them.
08:40Now the Ravens get a guy who two years ago led to Lee in sacks, 17 and a half, I
08:45believe,
08:45had back-to-back years of at least 17, even last year in a limited time, he had like four
08:50or five.
08:52So Hendrickson comes in, Aditi Kinkambwala, who we've had on the show, used to be on NFL
08:57Network, now CBS, she tweeted out last night that Lamar Jackson has in fact renegotiated
09:03his deal, whatever that means, renegotiated his deal, so it frees up some dough, enough
09:11to pay Hendrickson, and now you get your first-round draft pick back to him.
09:16You still have multiple holes to fill, let's not forget that.
09:20Yeah.
09:21But for the second time in five days, with Hendrickson, you have filled a major need in
09:27a pass, right?
09:28And you have your 14th pick.
09:29Right.
09:30So you can fill a major hole there, so yeah.
09:33And the thing with Lamar is, because I just saw from Adam Schefter, Josh Allen just restructured
09:41and they picked up 12 million cap space.
09:43That's all Lamar's doing, they're getting more than that, and bottom line is, they're adding
09:4810 years to the contract, they're giving him a huge, he's getting a pile of cash today.
09:52You know, 40, 50, whoever knows how many million, and the cap number comes down because you extend
09:59the signing bonus over the length of the deal, so you extend the length to lower the cap number,
10:04and that's what they did with Lamar.

10:07Schefter, with some more details, they've created roughly 40 million in cap space for this year.
10:13So he got a lot of cash.
10:15Yeah.
10:16Whatever it takes, man.
10:17I mean, this isn't, hey, hey, hey, Armadi, who cares?
10:20Well, all it is is, you know, like his paragraph, or his salary was going to be huge, so all
10:26he
10:26did was took his salary and converted it to signing bonus, and it extended.
10:31So he's still getting the same amount of money, but he's getting cash, right?
10:36Like, all right, you're going to get paid for 17 weeks, but it doesn't start till September,
10:42or you can get that 60 million today.
10:45Yeah, his cap hit was going to be 74 and a half for this year, him alone, so that, as
10:52you just said, frees up significant financial strength for them if they choose to use it.
10:59And then really, to take it back to the Raiders side of things, I know Rappaport and some others
11:03are saying, well, they can, you know, bring the Crosby contract as hefty as it is.
11:07They can bring that back in and be okay.
11:09But let's be honest here.
11:11They operated in the legal tampering period, Monday, all those heavy moves, especially Linderbaum,
11:17assuming that Crosby's money was going to be off the books.
11:20So can they technically make it work?
11:22Yeah.
11:23And even Crosby, I think, is a guy who could, you know, move some money around and make
11:28things okay in the short term.
11:29But that is not what they expected at all.
11:31You know, would they have still given all the money that they gave earlier this week
11:36if they didn't make that initial trade for Crosby?
11:40I'm not so sure.
11:41No, because they signed a pass rusher.
11:43You know?
11:44Yeah, that for sure wouldn't have happened.
11:46So, no, I think, because they planned out all along that they were going to trade Crosby.
11:53So, you know, then you get your plan together of who we're going to go get.
11:56And like you said, Nolan, if they still had Crosby, they would have done things totally different.
