04:16thing of course is all along i've said i want no part of 31 year old trey hendrickson with his
04:23injuries so they're cool with that now they have doctors but the ironic part is coming off an
04:30injury as well hendrick's coming off a serious injury he's older and they've they've bet on him
04:38and i'd be by voiding the trade with crosby who is in my opinion far less of an injury risk
04:48but whatever i guess it's not our problem it's just it's an interesting story because crosby came
04:54out and told his side of it and talk about a weird vibe he got in the building as soon

05:07baseball classic i watched last night first game i watched and you know the the atmosphere is pretty
05:14cool and it's clear that those that are involved and those that are there it means a lot i i

05:21trying to figure out why the the event didn't really hit with me and i can't quite figure it out

05:28it has a lot of the makeup of things that i really like i guess it's hard because everybody's in

05:43through spring training while trying to win these baseball games like position players can go out there
05:49and play and give it the 110 but there are clearly restrictions on the pitchers and you know the
05:58john hayman tweeted out last night baseball writer noel mcclain was the right makeup and maturity for
06:04this world baseball classic final but here are a few of the starting pitchers team usa tried to recruit
06:10but couldn't get hunter brown garrett crochet max free dylan c sunny gray andrew abbott brian wu so
06:17these are people that said no we also know that they had the cy young award winner sitting in the
06:21dugout which is a whole nother story um wait what so maybe it just feels to me like it is

06:32watered down baseball event that has all the makings of something being awesome
06:37but they literally it feels to me like one hand tied behind their back because they have to respect
06:41that the pitchers ramp up which which takes away i guess some of the authenticity of it for me well
06:47there's certainly there are there are uh flaws i'm being introspective why didn't it hit with me and i
06:53think that's it there are flaws with it um but i'm not mad that people like it it's really more

07:01long but it's because it's a it's team usa where it has more of the flaws dominican republic everybody
07:09wants to play yeah venezuela everybody wants to play these other japan everybody wants to play all
07:14these other nations they they want to play for their country did their pitchers matters did they
07:19have any pitchers go like complete game any of those other countries no okay well no they were all going
07:24four innings because it's spring trade right sure this is what it is um which is uh but i
07:31was wondering the same thing to myself like okay these aren't like i know this is an all-star
07:35lineup the team usa has but it's not like the pitching staff is is phenomenal obviously you got
07:41paul skeins but they're starting nolan mcclain who made eight starts he's made eight major league
07:47starts in his career yep right he was a rookie last year made eight starts they were good it was
07:51really good you can tell why the mets are excited about and you have terrick scuba but you used him

07:56this one game he was going to pitch you used him against great britain i mean it just seems there's
08:01a lot
08:01of disconnect there and yes the fact that it does take place in the spring is it's not conducive to
08:08having the the best tournament that you could have now manfred said afterwards the commission of
08:14baseball rob manfred said afterwards that this was this is a gem it's a jewel and they really didn't
08:19expect it to be as big as it got and really uh excited about this tournament in the future
08:27and i was surprised at how much i got into it over the last few days kind of jealous i
08:32wish i could
08:33have and i wonder okay there's got to be ways to make it better and the the one thing you
08:38would have
08:38to do to make it better is change when you're playing it because you're playing it in the spring
08:42you're not getting the authenticity of what baseball is and yet at the same time when do you do it

08:48middle of the season because you really don't want to shorten the season well you would you would
08:54have to you would probably have to shorten the season significantly by you know 10 games or something
08:59like that and you you say we're scrapping the all-star game we're going to world baseball classic
09:04which has more appeal for sure but i don't want my guy i don't want my all-star pitcher to
09:12get hurt in
09:12a world baseball classic when he should be taking some time off because it's it's the all-star break or
09:18whatever you know what i mean yeah so it's tough to to decide when you do this do you wait

09:22after the season well after the season my god they've already been there yeah you're in the
09:27200 innings and now you're gonna you know there's just a lot going in there major league baseball
09:31have to give up a bunch of dates and just say we're gonna have 150 games season and i don't

09:37we're ever gonna see that happen to lend more to the authenticity mid-season break i'd probably be
