00:00Does your grip fail whenever you're doing deadlifts, pull-ups, or rows?
00:03It's bound to happen as you get stronger and you're able to pull more weight.
00:06Your back muscles and your leg muscles are always going to be stronger than your grip.
00:10And of course, you don't want to neglect grip strength, but at the same time,
00:13if you want to continue making progress and when the whole focus is on your back or your legs,
00:18if you're doing deadlifts, then your grip is going to need some assistance.
00:22And that is where the jerk fit death grips come in.
00:25These are going to be faster and they're going to be grippier than your traditional lifting straps.
00:30So in today's video, I'm going to give you all the details and show you how I use them.
00:33So what are death grips?
00:34Death grips are weightlifting straps that reduce grip fatigue so I can focus more on going heavier
00:39during pulling exercises.
00:41Anytime I have to hang on to a barbell or bar and have to pull, grip is always going to
00:46be the limiting factor.
00:47So this eliminates that weak link.
00:49I can just wrap this around a barbell or a pull-up bar and now my whole focus is going
00:55to be on the muscles
00:56I want to work rather than my grip giving out.
00:59So that's the whole purpose behind these.
01:01Now let me show you what they look like.
01:02Here's what they look like from the front.
01:04These are made out of PVC rubber.
01:06It's a durable material.
01:07I've actually had these for two years now and they look pretty good.
01:11Very, very minimal wear and tear on them.
01:14That's what the inside looks like.
01:16And then on the outside, the strap is just Velcro and then it has cushion on the inside.
01:21So for two years, I think they're doing pretty good.
01:23What I'm going to do now is I'm going to show you how to use this on the pull-up
01:27bar and also a barbell.
01:28First, I'm going to show you how quick it is to set up for pull-ups just because this is
01:32time consuming when I'm using regular straps.
01:34So I'm pretty much done in a couple seconds.
01:36I'm going to slow it down for you now.
01:39All right.
01:40So first, what I'm going to do, come under the pull-up bar with my fingers here, fold the flap
01:45down and then just twist back like a throttle.
01:48Same on this side.
01:50Fold it down, throttle back.
01:53And just like that, I'm ready to go.
01:55Takes about two seconds.
01:57So I'm going to show you how I do this in real time for deadlifts and then I'll slow it
02:00down again.
02:04Under the bar, pull, throttle, up.
02:09So under the bar, pull, throttle.
02:13Under the bar, pull, throttle.
02:18So another way I like to use the death grips is like hand grips.
02:21So instead of folding it back like this to reduce grip fatigue, I fold it forward.
02:26And now this is going to prevent my hands from ripping.
02:29So when I'm doing high volume pull-ups or high volume deadlifts, instead of having my hand rip, I can
02:34just fold this forward.
02:36And now I'm still working on my grip strength, but at the same time, my hand is being protected.
02:40Now I'll give you my pros and cons.
02:42So I only have one con for these, and that is that they're about three times as much as regular
02:46lifting straps.
02:47Lifting straps are about $10 to $12, so they're very cheap.
02:50This one here is about $35 to $40, three times as much.
02:53Still not very expensive, but three times as much.
02:56Now with that being said, these are my go-to.
02:58I haven't had to use the old lifting straps in two years since I've got this.
03:03So even though they're more expensive, they're definitely well worth it.
03:05Now I'll give you my pros.
03:07The durability.
03:08Durability on these.
03:09I've had these for two years.
03:10They still work really well.
03:11Nothing's ripped.
03:13Everything's working like it should.
03:14That PVC rubber material they're using is very durable.
03:18Also, the Velcro strap on here still sticks really well.
03:21And then the inside cushioning, it's still very comfortable.
03:24So as far as durability goes, very good.
03:27Number two pro for me would be the speed, the setup.
03:30It takes no time.
03:31I put them under the bar, fold them down, throttle, I'm ready to go.
03:35Very fast setup.
03:36Another one for me, another pro would be that this has two uses.
03:40I can use it to reduce my hand fatigue by folding in the strap back.
03:44And then I can use this as hand grips by folding the flap forward.
03:47And that way I prevent ripping on my hands whenever I'm doing high volume exercises.
03:52And then the final pro for me is that this helps me to reduce a lot of my elbow pain,
03:57inside elbow pain.
03:58Whenever I'm doing pulling exercises, I tend to put a lot of stress on my forearms.
04:02So by using this to reduce that grip stress, it reduces a lot of the tension here so I'm able
04:09to continue exercising without elbow pain.
04:11That's my review on the Death Grips.
