00:00On the subject of defence spending, this is absolutely critical.
00:04Everyone knows that the world has changed, it's much more dangerous,
00:07so we have to spend much more on defence.
00:09Previously, for many years, we all thought, well, the Berlin Wall had fallen down
00:13and we had peace, that's no longer the case.
00:16And what the government are planning is simply not enough,
00:19so they are having, therefore, to make these what we call in-year savings,
00:22such as on ship availability, so there's been a lack of ship availability,
00:26but it's also about, again, leadership, choosing the right decisions
00:30on what we spend our money on.
00:31So we've announced today that we would restore the two-child benefit cap,
00:35in other words, cutting the welfare budget, to fund defence,
00:38and to start with that by recruiting more soldiers into the army,
00:42because we feel that with the world as dangerous as it is,
00:44we need to make those types of tough decisions to properly fund defence.
