Following reports that there will be a £28bn deficit in the U.K.'s defence spending over the next four years, Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith says that Labour need to "make tough choices" in order to invest in defence, such as on the welfare budget. 00:00Look, it's pretty worrying. I mean, we're hearing day by day about some of the threats,
00:04some of the operations that the UK may or may not be involved in.
00:08And you can't will the ends if you're not willing to will the means.
00:11The Conservative Party has said clearly that we would increase defence spending to 3% this Parliament.
00:16The government hasn't even laid out plans to do even that.
00:20And yet we see how quickly the threat situation is changing.
00:23So it is a real concern.
00:24And what we need is the government to come forward with its own defence investment plan
00:29that's been long promised, not yet published, and to put the money aside by making tough choices
00:35to what governments have to do on things like the welfare budget.
